We came on a Friday night. The space is cute and cozy. However, the food is nothing to get excited over. I will say the pork belly bites were really good. I got the fish and chips and substituted fries for macaroni and cheese. The fish was very bland. The macaroni had potential. It came in a little cast iron skillet, but the macaroni tasted more like the skillet than cheese. My husband got the Buffalo chicken wrap and fries. We went to the cellar and we enjoyed it. It was a very casual environment with bar and dining. The service was good. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. The food was good. The macaroni and cheese was a little on the dry side even though it was baked to order. It's served in a small cast iron and it did pick up the flavor of the cast iron at the bottom. The peach cobbler was good too, very very sweet, but the cream on top was fresh whipped and delicious. The fried fish was hot and delicious. Super crispy and fresh. The pimiento dip was our favorite, really flavorful. We ordered it with cracklings but they were out so we got the pita chips instead. They were fresh fried and yummy, so my disappointment about the cracklings was short-lived. I always comment on parking because I am not good at tricky parking situations lol They have a nice big private parking lot. What an incredible experience at The City Cellar and Loft in Cartersville. This spot was recommended to us earlier in the day by a waitress at another restaurant and we are so glad we took her suggestion. Our waiter Nathan was absolutely amazing. We let him know that our son has celiac disease and it turned out that Nathan also has celiac disease. Because of this he was incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful in helping us navigate the menu and choose safe options for our son. Even better our son was able to connect with Nathan and swap stories about living gluten free which meant so much to us as parents. That personal connection truly made the experience special. The atmosphere is fantastic and feels like a true cellar tucked away in the basement giving it such a cool and unique vibe. It felt like a hidden gem and a really fun place to discover. I also had a gluten free apple cider that was made locally and it was hands down one of the best ciders I have ever had. Between the outstanding service the care shown for food allergies and the unique setting this was an unforgettable visit. We will absolutely be back and highly recommend The City Cellar and Loft to anyone especially families navigating celiac disease. read more

We visited Cartersville this past week and had planned on a restaurant my spouse had been to many times. Upon looking at yelp, we changed our minds and decided to give the City Cellar a try. Are we ever glad we did! It is, as the name would suggest, in the basement of a downtown building. Rustic, but clean. Our server came quickly and was both friendly and knowledgeable about the food. We ordered the pimento cheese appetizer and had waters. This was an incredible start to our meal. Perfection! Spouse ordered the buttermilk chicken with a side of collard greens. I opted for the chipotle chicken wrap with fries. Spouse is from the south and said the collard greens were the best ever tasted. I took a taste and found them to be incredible. The chicken was also a hit. My wrap and fries were incredibly tasty and filled me up. We were finished... until our server came quickly suggested deserts. Chocolate chip bread pudding and a banana pineapple cake encased in hard chocolate... a banana split in cake form, if you will. The bread pudding wasn't bad but not incredible. The only thing that wasn't a home run. The cake? Wow! Incredible! Would highly recommend the City Cellar. Definitely planning a return visit. read more

Cellar Saw the reviews, I'm a big fan of good fish and chips. Arrived around 7:30 sat immediately. My dining partner showed up about 20 minutes later. We ordered quickly and decided to try the burger and the fish and chips of course. Fish and chips here is served fish and shrimp and I don't care for shrimp so they substituted more fish, in lieu of the shrimp which I thought was very nice. There were no more than 8 to 10 diners in the restaurant at the time yet it took a good half hour minimum for the dinner to arrive. And when it did, my fish was cool I wouldn't say it's cold, but it certainly wasn't warm and it certainly wasn't fresh out of the fryer. It was cod and it was very tasty although it would've been better had it been fully warm. My dining partner said the burger was excellent and was perfect temperature for eating and ate every bit of it which is always a good sign that they truly enjoyed it. The waitress was excellent. The noise level was low and I'd recommend it from that standpoint. Prices are reasonable for the location. My biggest problem with the evening: it was an hour before closing, and someone was sweeping the floor next to where we were dining and that really twists my shorts. I'm not at all interested in paying 50 or $60 to have dinner somewhere and be worried about the dust that's being kicked up by someone sweeping the floor right next to the table where I'm eating. It's also a backhanded way of saying "hurry up, eat and get out. My fish not bring warm/hot and the floor sweeping being it down to a 3 star experience. Off night, possible. I'd say have a try, my experience may have been unusual. read more

My husband and I had never been to the City Cellar and Loft. We decided to go there on Mother's Day. We made our reservation on-line and requested a booth if available. We were happy see that they honored our request. We had a nice booth up front. Our server Blakelee, I think that was her name, was great. Very courteous and personable. The food was delicious. Cool location in old downtown Cartersville. Tucked off the square on a side street. Stepping down into the cellar it felt almost like an old speakeasy. I believe our waiters name was Sam. He was helpful, attentive and friendly. Reservations not accepted so come early. We arrived at 530 on a Friday night and our party if 5 were sat immediately but by the time we left there was a wait. We order the spinach dip appetizer. Served with grilled pita bread. It was different but good. Entrees were the Fish and shrimp with loaded mashed potatoes, southern gentleman burger with baked potato, Bibb wedge salad with steak, shrimp and grits with andouille sausage and Parmesan risotto, and lastly a Pocket of Salmon. After walking downstairs you will be greeted and seated with wonderful Southern hospitality. There are lots of semi private booths that will easily seat 4-6 people. If you are more of a barfly they also have a full service bar that you can sit at. "Note being from way out of town California to be precise, wifey and I thoroughly enjoyed our waitresses Southern hospitality and charm. Our server called wifey "Sugar" and me "Honey" we thought that was so special especially because we were obviously over twice her age. Now for the best part "we'll actually everything About this place was the best part" the food: I ordered their Buttermilk fried chicken breast with greens and mashed potatoes covered with gravy and a side of their Fried green tomatoes. Wifey ordered the fish and Sweet Potato fries. Now the Fried Green Tomatoes by no means look traditional but oh mommy you wanna talk about an elevated Dish? Well this is it! The flavors they got out of these Green tomatoes is just amazing and they were not oily at all, simply stated they were an elevated crispy light flavor bomb! The buttermilk fried chicken: juicy , Juicy,, JUICY did I say juicy? So juicy in fact that there was no need for the gravy on top. The chicken was light, not oily and crispy and oh so delicious. The greens: cooked with pork had just the right amount of salt (while not the star of the plate were still very good) Mashed potatoes: home made skin and all were slightly chunky and molted in your mouth " perfectly home cooked mashed potatoes that paired well with the gravy. Fish and chips: hands down the best fish and chips I've ever tried with a light crispy batter (again not oily) brought home the flavor. The sweet potato fries also paired well with their butter and cinnamon dipping sauce. Bottom line: they get 5 yums up!! You would think that living in South Florida we would have at least some southern cooking but sadly, if it exists, I haven't found it yet. On the other hand, being in Historic Cartersville Georgia, well southern cooking is much easier to find. Cartersville is a cute little town with lots of unique shops and The Celler is a slightly hidden gem. It is literally in the basement of a building just off Main Street. We had the Fried Green Tomatoes BLT and the Buttermilk Chicken. Both were fantastic and this may just become a regular stop on our way north. read more

Arrived before 5 so the place was fairly empty but when leaving an hour later lots of folks had arrived. Absolutely loved the solo guitarist playing while we dined. Our waitress was new (and admitted to just turning 18) so she needed to run to the bar to answer a couple of questions but she was friendly and kept a fantastic attitude so no worries there. While my Darling enjoyed a PInot Grigio, I sipped a Woodford Reserve. I'm not sure if this is a local law or a restaurant policy but I wasn't allowed to order a double...although ordering a second drink wasn't frowned upon? For dinner our threesome started with the waitress recommended cheese curds. They were good but to us seemed no different than a miniature size fried cheese stick. The dinners all received high marks. We enjoyed the fried chick, cowboy burger and cuban steak melt. Extra points for the sweet potato fries which were cooked expertly. Hannah made the best raspberry lemon drip I've ever had and husband had a fantastic old fashion made by April. Dinner was out of this world. We had prawn paella and osso bucco. We were unaware of this adorable spot until a friend had her birthday dinner there a while back. We found parking a bit away due to it being downtown but it is free and not far to walk. We walked down a set of stairs and were greeted and seated quickly while we waited for the rest of the party to arrive. The vegetables were way too salty, and the pork chop on the dry side. The rest of the table had the special of the night (parmesan crusted cobia). Our waitress (Toma) said it was over lobster risotto with shrimp on top. When we received the food, my daughter-in-law instantly said, this is rice, not risotto. When we left, we glanced at the sign outside and it said Parmesan crusted cobia with crabmeat over rice pilaf... not lobster risotto. My husband's Parmesan crusted cobia dish was also way too salty. Found this spot after searching on Yelp , was a little hard to find -it's located beside train tracks. Cute place. Arrived just around 5 and it was not busy but within 30 min or so it started jamming. Our waitress Lacey was very sweet and friendly . My husband had the chicken sandwich with avocado and said it was pretty good . I had the mahi mahi ( chose not to do blackened) came with grits , fried green tomatoes and chow chow which is ( I believe) chopped up pickled red peppers and perhaps pickles . Not sure exactly but it was the perfect touch to the dish . It was so yummy and all the parts fit together so well . If we get the chance we will go back before easing back to FL. read more

In one of the oldest buildings of Cartersville! Food was good, staff was friendly and quick to serve!

We had high hopes for this place based off the menu and previous good reviews however we did not have a great experience. Service was extremely slow. We were told he couldn't bring refills of our drinks because they were out of glasses? There was an empty table behind us with about 15 dirty glasses on it that no one bussed or picked up the entire hour and half we were there. Eventually, he brought out a pitcher of tea to refill our glasses. They were out of the first 2 appetizers we asked for (we were hoping this was a good sign that the food was good since they were out.) He told us they were out of one of their main entrees at the time too so when reviewing the menu we knew they didn't have it. We decided on 3rd choice of appetizer which was spinach dip with pita bread. It was delicious but we quickly ran out of the bread and asked for more (we would have paid). He said no problem. We never received the pita bread even after reminding him about it 20 minutes later when putting in our food order. Finally put in food order, he tells us he's out of another thing on the menu that one of us wanted. Finally get our food which was all pretty good except my fried green tomato BLT which was missing the bacon and son's bacon cheeseburger that was missing bacon. We eat it anyway because we never saw server again for another 20 minutes and when he comes by, we ask if they were also out of bacon which he replies yes. Don't you think that might have been an important thing to tell a person that orders a BLT before they ordered or even when you deliver their plate? The club and cowboy burger were both great! Husband didn't care for pork chop sandwich and I was obviously missing my bacon to make my sandwich good. Overall pretty bad experience but I still tipped the standard 20% because not all completely the servers fault but he definitely could have done a lot better with attentiveness. read more
