Would have been 5 stars, except for the condition of the bathroom. But let's start with the good. We arrived a little after 5PM on a cold and rainy Friday evening in January. We had reservations for 5:30 and they quickly seated us. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and attentive and we never lacked for drink refills. The seating is comfortable and there is upstairs dining accessible by elevator. I ordered the special, a thick cut pork chop. While my wife had the Trout Almondine. For side we chose the creamed kale and risotto. Before our dishes came out I had the kitchen salad with bleu cheese dressing and their complimentary bread. The dipping sauce was nice and a real twang. It was nice and unique for a few bites, but the vinegar was too strong to enjoy it past a few tastings. The salads were nice but nothing terribly exciting and with big leafs of greenery on a flat plate to challenge your dexterity. My pork chop was perfectly cooked and the flavors were fantastic. I'm not a kale fan, but there take was very good. Although the amount of lemon used in the flavoring was a bit too strong for more than a few bites. My risotto also had a sour note, but not as strong, and they were wonderfully creamy. We sampled each other's entrees and I'm not a fish person, but I almost (but not quite) almost regretted not getting the trout. It was absolutely delicious. And the sauce on my pork chop was fantastic. At the end of our meal I visited the restroom, which was where things turned downhill. I know older buildings can be a challenge to keep nice, and there's no predicting when a previous patron can leave a mess. But when I saw the revolting detritus piled in the corner, it was obvious the dirtiness of the bathroom was due to staff neglect over an extended period. read more

It's been awhile since I've been to DT. Sat at the bar for an early dinner. Great bar service and a nice setting. Food was really good. I had the hanger steak and blackened fries, wife had the Salmon and baked potato. Steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. Fries are great and spicy. My wife and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary from the positive online reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The ambiance was very dark making it difficult to read the menu. The booth was rigid and cusions uncomfortable. Our server was very pleasant, kind and professional. I selected a 12oz Sirloin to be cooked medium rare. My wife selected the rainbow trout. My entre was delivered in a reasonable time; however, the meat surface was extremely charred and the interior was a warm pink center (medium rather than medium rare). The burnt surface of the steak was bitter, the meat interior was dry and tough. Given the price of the entre, one expected the propper preparation, flavor, and tenderness. Normally, this dish should have been returned to the kitchen and replaced. I was not in a mood to complain and should not have had to consider that option so I did not. My wife's fish was good; however, the Risotto dish was an unusual recipe that was not explained by the server. The server offered a replacement. My wife selected the broccoli side dish Unfortunately, the dish arrived somewhat later and the vegetable was undercooked. Needless to explain but we left very dissatisfied with the overall experience. Given the food preparation failures and high end pricing we will not return. read more

Used OpenTable to book a table at 7:15 on a Monday. Arrived on time and told that table was still occupied even though the party has paid their check, was ask if we would wait a few mins at the bar, we said sure and but just waited at the front door. 8 mins went by and we saw a party leave so I assumed it was the party we were waiting for, but no. So I dig we would get that table instead, no... We wait for 7 more minutes before I go up to ask if we were still waiting for the same people, they said yes. We were the only party waiting for a table so there was no one else ahead of us. At that point I told them to cancel our useless reservation. They were nice and offered to get us drinks, but not the first free table to come available. We were a party of 2 fyi. read more

Our first experience at Downtown Kitchen was exceptional. Loved the setting and the atmosphere during the weeknight. We like a quiet place and this delivered with a pleasant experience. Service was on point with a nice server that was also very effective in keeping an eye without being intrusive. The food was really good, starting with fresh, crunchy calamari with sides or sweet Asian and a tomato based dips. Our food was also great with solid quality meat that was cooked as we asked (so many places overcook the meat even after you give them a clear description), my daughter and wife loved the Cesar salad and I enjoyed the Bourbon onion soup. Desserts were also fresh and good. We are going to become regulars and hope they never change. read more

We went here for my husbands birthday and we had a great experience! Our server, Wes, was so friendly and really enjoyed him. The buffalo chicken fritters were very crispy and flavorful with a honey buffalo sauce on the side. I wasn't a fan of having sunflower seeds on the caesar salad though. My husbands hanger steak had great flavor and crust from the 24 hour marinade. My salmon was tender and flavorful with the butter lemon sauce. And the crème brûlée was fantastic! Our best friends joined us for a three-way birthday celebration with an early dinner. We liked the industrial high ceilings with warm, exposed brick walls decorated with large posters of mostly Boomer style musicians. There were plenty of cozy booths available. The many dark oak tables had nice, hefty chairs around them. Our waitress was very attentive and patient with us. She was helpful when steering us to popular dishes. I appreciated that I didn't have to ask for half and half tea refills with extra lemon slices (btw, their tea is just right!). Hubs had the scallops and fried cauliflower appetizer. The scallops were seared perfectly...just about a minute on each side. He had the trout for the main course. He was happy. As an island girl, I can say with confidence that the chef knows what he/she is doing with seafood. His veggie was the creamed kale. It was rich and satisfying. Both guys had the Kitchen salad, which was nicely presented. The mixed greens looked very fresh, with cherry tomatoes, bacon and sliced red onion. They had no complaints. My gal pal and I had the tomato basil soup topped with a cheddar crouton, first. We were surprised by the light, pinkish appearance and that it did not have a rich tomato flavor. My guess is that chicken stock was the base. It was good, though. I couldn't taste any cheese on the crouton, which was a thin piece of bread covering the entire soup surface, adorned with a basil leaf. I had the double wagyu cheeseburger. I asked for hot sauce. I was given Buffalo sauce and it was the perfect addition. My, my, my! Was it delicious! They cooked it medium, just right. The onion rings were crispy and generous. The Kaiser roll stood up to all that juiciness. My hand cut blackened fries were hot and seasoned just right. I don't think I will be able to order anything else next time. The burger was that good. Girlie is a vegetarian, so she ordered the mushroom ravioli. It was beautifully presented with a cream sauce and a strip of pesto squeezed on top. She was pleased. Our buddy ordered the fried chicken sandwich and blackened fries. This sandwich is like the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Our friend is not a fan of spicy, but the menu says that the sandwich and fries are spicy. All in all, we agreed that we will return. Great job, guys! read more

Best steak I've had in a while! $90 porter but we split! So worth it! It was cooked perfect!!!!!!! Melt in your mouth. We enjoys splitting a salad and the dressing had a dill taste. It was good but really wanted a more traditional blue cheese. The bread had a taste 'y sauce! And the sides were good. The risotto wasn't my thing with the tomatoes in it. With the steak maybe more mushroom risotto. The Kale in the small skillet was fabulous!!!!! We ended up super blessed with the entire meal! One weird thing was the beer took forever! They had to change the tap but it still seemed to take wayyyy to long. Enough I had to ask "where's the beer!" The chef came by, nice touch! Wasn't too busy the night we went. It's 4 stars because this is a solid, average place to eat, but I've found better food in the area. This might be a better bar than restaurant. I like the atmosphere and the servers, but I've tried this place twice and I've never had hot food. I've tried the calamari, spinach dip, ravioli, fries and whatever my husband got (I forget) and not one thing was ever served hot. The little bread chunks with dipping sauce are really good. The Caesar salad is my favorite thing I've ever had here (incredibly good with the sunflower seeds and the delicious dressing). The shrimp has always been cooked perfectly (just served too cold). My soda has always been flat. Maybe this is a weird thing to review, but I prefer restaurants with a multi-person bathroom, and this place only has the awkward setup where you have to knock on a closed door and put your ear to the door and listen for signs of life on the other side. The servers are very welcoming and the ambience is modern but cozy, so I would be happy to try this place again. Also, I don't eat red meat so it might be unfair of me to review this place with such self-imposed limitations. The menu is mostly red meat. It's not a bad place, it just isn't my favorite in the area. read more

Personally I prefer the upstairs environment for quant dinning bar feel is more downstairs but the staff seems great and ready to please and decor is awesome all around. But we come for the EATS and this place has delivered the couple times my wife and I have been! Give it up for the man behind the stainless steel kitchen curtain! Just a few steps off the Main Street of Old downtown Canton you will find to most charming, quaint and absolutely adorable Downtown Kitchen. I love how part of the restaurant is on the main floor and you have to go next door and take an elevator up one floor to get to some cozy seating. So cool. The servers are as interactive as you want them to be. They are ready to talk (in detail) about anything and everything on the menu! A quite setting to enjoy your meal, you won't be disappointed. And the bartenders are very knowledgeable and extremely experienced in blending cocktails. I thought the pricing was VERY reasonable for the top of line quality of food you get. I really dislike leaving bad reviews, but almost all our food was cold last night for our meal. I ordered the pork chop which was actually probably the only dish that came out hot. My partner got the swordfish and it was cold. My mom got the Sirloin steak and was cold. She sent it back to be heated up and came back out still cold. Our brussel sprouts were cold and sent back twice as well. We heard a neighboring table also order steak and they also sent back theirs for being cold. Our baked potatoes were cold and not fully cooked as well. The restaurant was not busy. While the waiter was kind, the only courtesy given was taking off the brussel sprouts. Chips were blah and cheese had no flavor. Would describe it as meh! Also had an order of three oysters Rockefeller, they were strange. Never seen a prep of Rockies like this. Bread crumbs, no bacon or spinach and didn't taste fresh. For mains we had the fried chicken, skate with Caesar salad and heirloom tomato soup, salmon with Caesar salad and fried okra side. The soup was by far the best part of the meal, the skate was horrible, salad was meh. Salmon was cold - had to send it back. The fried okra was ok, and being a native southerner, I'm a fried okra connoisseur so I'm is not bad. Server was pleasant and helpful. Overall, a three star rating and won't be returning anytime soon. read more

This is my all-time fave restaurant OTP. The quality and cost surpasses most high-end steakhouses in downtown Atlanta. JR is a personable bartender and a celebrity at the restaurant. He has more regulars than he has seats at the bar. Some of the best dishes include: burrata & ciabatta, any steak at poivre, stuffed chicken and their specials are on point, especially the spinalis steak. You must (emphasis on MUST) get the bacon creamed kale and delicata squash as a side when squash is in season. Just damn...make me fat with that. read more

Tonight's dinner options were steak or sushi and boy was I glad he picked steak! So this place is located in downtown Canton, GA right across from the police station. You can find parking along the street. It's in a pretty well lit up area so your car is safe. The entrance of this restaurant is literally a green/teal wooden door. The inside is set up really antique-ish and nice. I can see this place getting wait times. Our server was very prepared to answer our questions about the food specials but we ended up getting food on the menu. Tonight- I chose a bone marrow and foi gras as my appetizer. I first just want to say..I am a bone marrow connoisseur and I was sooo impressed with the way it was prepared!! The Foi-Gras was pretty amazing as well. For my entree, I ordered a sirloin medium rare which came out cooked to perfection and mash potatoes. By the time we finished our meal, we had no room for desserts I'm so glad I found this spot. 5/5 for me. Will definitely go out of my way to have their bone marrow again!! read more
