    Espresso martini
    Lisa W.

When you walk in, the atmosphere is jumping. Lighting is perfect. We started out at the bar waiting for our table with an espresso martini. It was perfectly made and possibly one of the best I've had in a while. When seated, we were by the huge windows and could see the nightlife of downtown Woodstock. Appetizers were fried green tomatoes stacked with pimento cheese in between topped with bacon jam. Also ordered the steamed shrimp. Both were amazing! Dinner was the Blackened Grouper and JD's Famous baby back ribs. Fish was cooked just right and the ribs were falling off the bone. This place is a must to visit.

Fried green tomato appetizer with pimento cheese and bacon jam! Delicious!

They wouldn't let us out the back door even though we parked back there. And the feels like rn is 1 degree. How rude.

Reservations: We didn't make a reservation ahead of time; not sure if you can. We walked in and sat ourselves since we went to the rooftop. If sitting downstairs or on the patio, we would've been immediately seated by the host. Parking: It's downtown Woodstock so parking can get tricky. We both lucked out in finding spots nearby and had a short walk to the restaurant. There is parking in front of the restaurant, but it's not likely that it will be available. Food: We ordered chips and queso; chicken fajitas; and the ensalada de verano with shrimp. I was hoping for a taco salad, but they don't offer that. Chips and queso were delicious. Would definitely get again. For those sensitive to salt, the chips may be too much for you. I love salt so they were perfect for me. My friend enjoyed her chicken fajitas. My salad was okay; I wouldn't order it again. The shrimp had a burnt flavor to it, and although I did appreciate the summer flavor of the salad overall, I wasn't impressed with the dish in its entirety. Drinks: We both ordered the Skinny Love. Mine was on the rocks and my friend got hers frozen. I thought it was fine - nothing to write home about though. Vibe: The rooftop is a fun spot. You get a view of downtown Woodstock, depending on where you sit. Be mindful it is outside so you may get bugs/flying insects pay you a visit. Our sever, Christian, was a vibe. Super nice, patient, and friendly. I also appreciated they had fans around the whole area, which they turned on while we were there and it made it more enjoyable due to the heat.

We entered, approached the host stand, and they mentioned there were open seats available on the lower level. But we were hoping to sit upstairs, and they simply said, "Head on up." We found a high-top table with a great view overlooking downtown Woodstock. Our server quickly came by to provide some menus. We reviewed the drink options --I went with the Creature Comforts Tropicana, while Wifey opted for a refreshing strawberry spritzer. For starters, we ordered Queso Con Todo, and a round of chips that arrived nice and hot. The queso was definitely not your standard dip. It had a generous helping of shredded chicken mixed in. It looked a little greasy at first glance, but it didn't taste that way at all--smooth, flavorful, and very good. For mains, Wifey ordered the chicken taquitos served with rice and charro beans, and I went with a grilled chicken breast, paired with black beans and rice. Everything we tasted was on the make. A solid experience overall. Great food, laid-back atmosphere, and that view of downtown just tied it all together.

I feel like the cook must've been on a break. We ordered them medium and they came out closer to rare. Because we were in a hurry, we just ate a bit (mostly the outside of the burger) and took the rest for our dogs. The burgers were very flavorful but we just couldn't get past that rawness. We would definitely come in again though and probably order the burgers medium well. It looked like a cool hangout out spot in the evenings for a few beers. I believe there is live music as well but I'm not positive.

When I have come here in the past, I've gotten the Johnny Cash Burger; imagine the width of a Whopper but with a 10oz patty... yum! This time around, I got a plate of their jumbo wings! I got a mix of the Ya-Ya-BBQ and the Lemon-Yaki. The sauce on the wings was fantastic, but the wings themselves were a little too crispy for me. The tator tots, however, were extremely crispy in the best way! My friend enjoyed an item off the brunch menu... the City Slicker Breakfast Bowl. Now this was truly very tasty, but the price for a little breakfast bowl was a little surprising in my opinion. While the food was just average for a bar, the experience was special. The two ladies who served us were friendly and down-to-earth with that true "make yourself at home" southern hospitality. They checked in on us super frequently and ended up giving our table a whole pitcher of sweet tea for free refills (we drank the whole thing). They did a special night at this location where they played exceptional 80s Rock for hours on their stage. The live singers are always so good here... If you live near the Woodstock area and you happen to come by, I would absolutely try and time it to be here during a live music night. You won't regret this experience with some friends!

However, once I realized you could waitlist online, it was a game changer. We got: Biscuit with fried chicken smothered in gravy: The seasoning on the fried chicken is great, and the chicken itself is juicy and perfect. Pair that with their exceptional gravy and a hearty mouthful of biscuit and it's a done deal. It's a HUGE portion, so come hungry or share. Classic breakfast (forgot what it's called but eggs, protein, biscuit, grits): I got my eggs scrambled and these were probably the best scrambled eggs I've ever had outside of my own home. It was just the way I liked them--definitely scrambled, but juicy, flavorful, and soft. The grits were a crowd favorite on our table--super rich and creamy. Smoked ham was salty (as most smoked ham are) but incredible soft and nice to eat. I thought my favorite would be the biscuit (I'm a HUGE biscuit girl) but it actually wasn't as buttery as I thought. It wasn't bad, but I think I'll take the grits over it any day. I can't believe how delicious this place was. All the plates coming out looked amazing (the sweet breakfast items, wow!) and we are definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu. I'd say this is a 4.5 due to the biscuit falling a little flat (not literally because that thing was fluffy!) BUT service was also great so it's bumping up to a 5. We're so happy to find a go-to brunch spot in this area--definitely give it a try!
