Terrible experience with Citron management. An elderly relative of mine called the restaurant, paid for the gift card and expected it to be emailed to me. I never received the gift card, and was told by my relative that she called the restaurant several times to follow up. I then called Citron and I have never experienced such rude and unprofessional behavior from a business. The person I spoke with talked over me and blamed my elderly relative for giving them incorrect information for the card to be emailed (not correct). I then requested a refund for the gift card and was told that a 3% merchant's fee would be withheld because of "the amount of work that had been done". I asked to speak with the owner and was hung up on. The following day I was able to get a refund, but had to call back and speak to someone else (again, the owner did not get on the phone with me). I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. read more

Was just at Citron for the 4th time, and I don't think I will go back. While the ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful, the food is far from that. In addition, we waited more than one hour twenty minutes just for our appetizers to come, and when dinner arrived, three of the people at our table ordered the soft shell crabs, and they had a very fishy odor that smelled, they actually smelled spoiled, and they sent these back and walked out without eating dinner, and the chicken that I ordered was dry and over cooked, and I also didn't eat dinner. We have had similar experiences with other dishes on previous visits, and this is the first time I am positing, because I wanted to give the restaurant a fair chance. read more

On yesterday I gave my wife a surprise 70th birthday brunch at Citron, from the initial stages of planning this event with Charles Levine until walking out the door after this marvelous event everything was perfect, Emily and Charles were great in planning this special day , when we arrived we were greeted by Charles who had all of the guest tucked away to surprise her when she came into the room, the appetizers were great and then the brunch was delicious, to top it off with a fabulous birthday cake that was done in house, the wait staff Donna and team were the best, everyone totally enjoyed themselves but most of all my wife extremely pleased, which is what I wanted. If you haven't been to Citron I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is great along with the prices . If you want McDonald's go there if you great food in a wonderful setting, take my word. read more

Not only was the food and service subpar, there was a bigger problem with the place. I Had them valet my car, later that night it comes back with a cracked window, it looked like somebody tried to break in with a screw driver. Initially management, Rob specifically, was very calming and reassuring that the quality of their cameras would reveal the details. After not hearing back for several days, we followed up and were told the owner would be getting back to us. Finally after 5 days, the owner, Charles Levine contacted me back and conveniently advised me the cameras were out that day. Laughable? Yes. My husband brought us here for Valentines Day and it was a 10/10. Food was amazing, service was great, and drinks were so well done. Food was seasoned to perfection, not overly complicated, but still special. The low lighting and ambience in general was wonderful. I'm not usually a huge dessert person, but the luxardo cherry cheesecake was insanely good, with a nice caramelized crust. I hadn't previously heard of citron but was so impressed, we will definitely be back! read more

Ok we have been there a ton of times. The vibe there is becoming weird . Food quality is not the same. Service was average and it makes you want to go back down to the inner harbor. I attended a private birthday brunch at Citron restaurant that was an awesome experience. The servers were very attentive, the food was delicious and I love the cosmopolitan decor. The brunch menu was delectable. A spectacular tasting cake (baked by the restaurant) was presented with pizazz and enjoyed by all. A spectacular dining experience as well as a beautiful sunny day allowed guests to enjoy their lovely surroundings. My wife and I visited Citron again this past Saturday for a rare date night, and we were extremely pleased. From initial greeting, to dessert, everything was well executed. Charles, Susan, and the team have really got the place dialed in. The dining room was full, and lively, as you would expect on a Saturday night. This did not diminish from the experience at all. The decor is polished, but not pretentious and stuffy, and our food and drinks were exceptional. Our server, Parrish, was a rock star, providing solid recommendations on menu items, as well as wine pairings and honest feedback. My wife has Celiac, which can be limiting at most restaurants, and she was pleased to find that almost any dish could be modified to accommodate her needs. We started with the grilled octopus, which was very different then others we have had, offering different flavors and textures than simply grilled octopus. I had the veal cheeks, which were decadent. The lobster was perfectly cooked, and the veal melted on the palate. The gnocchi that accompanied it was perfect. My wife had the filet, which was flavorful and cooked expertly. Our wine pairings were spot on, thanks to Parrish! Finally, dessert, which is always the difficult course for my wife, was a delicious flour less chocolate cake, and a wonderful ending to a memorable dining experience. I also found it refreshing that not only was the owner, Charles, spending time at just about every table greeting guests and checking on their dining experiences, he was helping to clear plates as well. You definitely don't see this at many places, and it just goes to show how dedicated he is to delivering a first class dining experience. So, to sum it up, we would definitely recommend Citron, and certainly plan on returning before too long! read more

Not worth the expense. Recently visited Citron in north Baltimore. There are good and bad aspects of this restaurant. The bad outweigh the good. Good points: food was very good (scallops, veal, lamb chops, appetizers, desserts), nice décor, polite wait staff, tried to make amends by taking the dessert and coffee off the bill Bad points: service was poor. The server (a) never brought menu for 1 of our party (even after we asked), (b) 1 order was completely forgotten, (c) another order was wrong (even though we pointed to it on the menu) and (d) the server infrequently came by the table. She came by so rarely that I had to go to the bar area to find someone to fix each of these issues and ultimately to get the manager. Other servers were polite and said "we will take care of this" but never did. The manager was slow to get to us because he had to attend to another unhappy patron. The noise level was so bad that we could barely hear each other. We were allowed to change tables which did help a bit but it was still louder than other restaurants. I reported all of this to the manager so that he would know to fix these problems. Summary: expect to pay $100 per person NOT including wine/drinks. For this, one should have much better experience. The chef should find another place to practice his/her craft. read more

I went here with two others for restaurant week. I ordered the Beet Salad, the Roasted Beef Tostaredos, and the Molten Chocolate Cake. I ordered this with a Pink Grapefruit Margarita- that drink was delicious. The beet salad was the perfect size and dressed appropriately. The beef was cooked perfectly at medium-rare as requested. He cake was very rich. The experience was great, as we had a long conversation with Charles, the owner. Our waiter was also extremely knowledgeable, amiable, and humorous. After dining here one night shortly after the grand opening, I gave Citron the benefit of the doubt. Food is over priced and lacks flavor. There were no specials and portions lacked in size leaving me hungry. I've lived in the area for years and was excited for a 'nice' upscale restaurant with a view of the Quarry. Here's what really got me. Living just on the other side of Greenspring Ave we have a great view of Citron. Thursday nights in the summer they have live music which isn't typically too loud and ends around 10pm. Around 8:30 this past week the music was extremely loud. I could hear the lyrics from a distance. My wife called to let notify them and the minute she started talking the person from Citron cut her off and hung up. It then took me 7 try's to have someone answer. Extremely rude staff, according to the hostess there was no manager available; hard to believe. I will gladly eat at La Food Marketa and the countless good not over priced restaurants in the area. Not sure who Citron is catering to but can't see them lasting! Zero stars aren't an option or I'd give them zero. One star is for the location and view. Update: Total ignorance trying to explain your legal right to play music 7 days a week. Learn how to own up to a mistake. The moon might festival was a month prior to my initial post. Pure ignorance by you and your staff. Easy to shift blame. Good luck The Quarry could use a nicer restaurant with better ownership and better food. read more

Came here for a birthday brunch in July. Excellent service from the staff. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which was delicious. Well seasoned and good portion size. The view from the restaurant patio is insanely beautiful. However, the restaurant was weirdly empty for a Sunday at 1 pm. We were one of the only parties in the restaurant. I'm not sure why that is. I would recommend this place for brunch, but not if you're looking to have a "turn up" brunch environment. read more

Came here for my birthday on November 4th. Beautiful establishment , vibes and friendly staff. Our waiter was very friendly and danced and joked around with us . The food was tasty. This place is a little pricey . We stayed all night with our being rushed. The lights went off as we were starting to head out and i see a mouse run out the corner of my eye. I asked my friends if i was drunk or tripping lol they was like we saw it too! Told the waiter and he tried to convince us it wasn't ! Ummm no! I'm not the one . I don't care if it's but the creek, ocean, pond ... sea! If there is a mouse in this fine establishment which guest are in the building THATS A PROBLEM! Of course the freaks come out at night ! The mouse didn't know ppl was still in the building all they know is the lights went out. What bothered me the most was that our bills were charged all types of money then cancelled then charged again! My one friend was charged our whole bill on MONDAY! My other friend was charged DOUBLE after dinner. And they don't open again till Wednesday !! We walked back to the door for to asked about her charge and they said it was a mistake and it will be cleared by the morning . But didn't think to inform her to give her a heads up. Absolutely amazing. On a whim, I visited Citron this evening for a quiet mid-pandemic evening away from my family: a mommy's night to herself. Upon entry, I was greeted by the concierge who I immediately recognized as the owner, Charles Levine, and was truly blown away from that point on. The hostess gave me a sweep of the restaurant then sat me next to a beautiful, warm, and cosy fireplace. I was treated fabulously by my server who was perfectly attentive and didn't judge me for ordering two apps, an entree, dessert and three cocktails all for myself...sometimes a mommy just needs all of the food and to not share with anyone The cocktails I ordered were splendid and the scallops were just perfect. I recently went to this fine dining establishment with my business partner, and we were seated outside with a beautiful view of the quarry. We ordered the Short Rib Sliced Angus Beef Sliders and items from the sushi bar, everything was delicious! And we even ordered drinks from the bar. The owner Charles is a wonderful gentleman that cannot stop checking up on his customers and makes sure everything is set to the customers standards. The management is great, whenever I see the servers walking or running; they see that I need something and immediately send somebody running to assist me. I love this restaurant and I recommend it to everyone, will be coming back again for sure. read more

Citron is an extraordinary place. It's fine dining, a treat; fancy and the people make you feel at home. The menu is creative, the food quality superb, and preparation and presentation are an exceptional treat. Indulge with the Ahi Tuna Tartare as an appetizer, the 20 oz Australian Lamb Chops, and one of their special sweet treats to top it all off. In the heat of the pandemic, it was important for us to order out a couple of times to show our love and maybe do a little bit to save some jobs. We have been wanting to come here for about a year. Finally made reservations for Valentines dinner and were both really excited. Food was delicious, we both highly recommend the steak (even better the next day). The Valentines dinner menu was well stocked with good choices and pairings. The service was a little slow. Our meal/dining time was about 3 hours even. This could be due to the holiday occasion. At a certain age cooking a Thanksgiving dinner seems daunting rather than challenging; and at that point one makes a conscious choice to eat at a restaurant allowing professionals to do the work. I chose to let the professionals at Citron feed my family Thanksgiving 2019....a decision I will regret for a few years. The ambiance is lovely, the view relaxing and picturesque and the servers approachable and energetic. The food was the problem. Specifically the food served on Thanksgiving. 2019. The chef made 4 basic entree choices each tasting of the same mediocrity you have in a public school lunch. Soggy, gray and bland stuffing, three long cold green beans and a 2 oz cup of cranberry sauce with the consistency of apple butter do not make an epic holiday dinner. The salmon was farm raised and spaghetti squash served under it inconsistently cooked and bland. Sad attempt at an easy win....I recommend revostion when they get a culinary staff read more

They explained there was a glitch with open table and an extra 100 or so people were able to book reservations even though reservations were supposed to be closed. I honestly believe them. They apologized and encouraged us to try again. Mother's Day is a tough day to go out, but I didn't want to cook. It was a bad experience but the food was good. This rating has nothing to do with the quality of the food, but rather with the management. I booked a table at Citron for Valentine's Day on OpenTable. We usually go to the Milton Inn or Orchard Grill for Valentine's, but my wife was excited to try somewhere new. She likes to look at menus on line and plan out what she'd probably order, and having done so, she was looking forward to her dinner at Citron. Searching online revealed that they had a Valentine's menu, which did not have the dishes she wanted, so we called on Feb. 13 to ask whether they offered only the special menu for Valentine's, and were assured that the full regular menu would also be available. When we were seated, the hostess handed us the Valentine's menu, so we asked for the regular one. She told us it was not available. A manager then arrived to tell us that the kitchen was set up only for the special items on the Valentine's menu. In response to us telling them that we had specifically asked about the menu a day in advance, neither the hostess nor the manager had anything to say. Since Citron is very expensive and their Valentine's menu did not offer what we wanted, we retrieved our coats and left (had a decent meal at the Chinese place -- Jasmine -- across the street, but it certainly didn't meet the 'special occasion' standard). Then when we got home from our disappointing outing, I had an email from OpenTable stating that Citron claimed that we had not shown up for our reservation. That's some nerve, and makes me think that management may have instructed their hosts/hostesses to respond to questions such as ours in the (false) affirmative that the full menu would be available, on the theory that once people were there, they'd stay. In any event, we were there, were seated, had to tip the coat-check lady a couple of bucks, but left and will never be back. read more

I have to agree with another reviewer. Given the pedigree of ownership, I expected a high-end experience, which was not the case. The service is good once you're inside the restaurant. For some reason, they park all the valet cars right in the small driveway making it very difficult to navigate. Then, to top it off, they even block the handicap ramp! Both coming and going, I had to have them move cars from the ramp. On the way out, the lead valet even argued with me that there was room to get a wheelchair through. He overlooked the fact that I couldn't get my car in to actually load the handicapped diner. Fortunately, his assistant Drew jumped right in, moved the illegally parked car, and helped me load mine. As for the food, it's good, but overpriced in my opinion. Here is an update in May, 2018: The restaurant clearly didn't learn the lesson about keeping the handicap ramp clear! I just walked by and there was a very nice looking convertible Porsche blocking the ramp. I guess they don't want to serve handicapped diners. No problem -we can go somewhere else. read more

Amazing place with delectable food and killer service. Ryan was my waiter and he was super friendly. His recommendations were spot on and he was super attentive. Met the owner. Also super friendly and gave us a sample of an amazing dessert: chocolate macadamia bar (just order it already!) also has the cheesecake which was yum. I ordered the salmon. It was sooo good. And the crab soup which was also fantastic. My friend had the chicken, which he says is some of the best he's ever had. Also the Brussels sprouts. Everything was so so good. The place is beautiful. Came here over the weekend with a few friends some drinks by the water. The view was outstanding and so was the breeze. We had some delicious drinks, appetizers & everything came out wonderful. From the minute you step into Citron, service is the focus. Mr. Levine greeted us on on an ordinary Friday night (how cool is that?) and continued to circulate the entire evening. Our server Stadden was positively sparkly, brimming with intelligence and enthusiasm. The view here, for a Baltimore restaurant, is incomparable. The vast and pristine lake, water fowl, the sunset, stars emerging - absolute perfection 10 minutes from Baltimore City. This is one of those rare dining experiences where every bite is like a paralyzing wow moment. From the sea bass, barely cooked - omg melt in your mouth... to the sushi that looked too beautiful to eat. We wanted to consume the whole menu, can't wait to return. Please, Mr. Levine, my only complaint is that our speaker for music was suddenly cut off about 3/4 thru our meal. So disappointing. So abrupt. We requested 3x for it to be turned back on and it never was??? All in all one of the best dining experiences ever, honest to god. read more

Went last Friday for our first time for dinner. We were greeted and completed covid required temperature check, filled out contact tracing info and then were seated at a table in the bar. The upscale ambiance was very nice. Our server was attentive throughout our visit. We tried one the craft cocktails (vanilla old fashioned - yum!), as well enjoyed a bottle of wine. This place is beautiful! It's located in an upscale part of Baltimore County. And it fits. From the complimentary valet parking, to the decor, to the menu. But that's not all, the service is superb. From the greeting at the door, to the bar & table service, right up until you are exiting to retrieve your vehicle. My date & I felt welcomed every step of the way. Now, did I mention...the food & drinks? The drinks are fantastic & the menu offers something for every palate. I ordered the duck breast. I have no clue what my date ordered. I was too engrossed in my own entree. I loved everything about my experience and I can't wait to return. read more
