Very disappointed! Since Covid, the crabs are running very light as a feather, I don't even see how they can sell those crabs for that price, as light as they are, ridiculous! very expensive. This is truly my go-to Crab shack in the neighborhood. The service is generally good. I speak with the same woman every time I call to get crab prices. She's kind. She's consistent and just pleasurable to talk with. The crabs boy oh boy, the crabs are just good. They're good every single time that I've ever had them and why I hesitate anytime someone wants to stray from this crab house. The crab prices are market priced and I always seem to feel like it's fair. I don't do many comparisons to other places because I don't want to try anywhere else and be disappointed, but I never feel like they're overpriced or undersized. Oftentimes they run specials where you can get what they call "smediums" buy one dozen, get one half dozen free. The overall looks of the place aren't that great, but it's a crab shack so you kind of expect that. I have no complaints about looks of the place. My brother and I like to buy steamed blue crabs once a year, usually in the Baltimore/Annapolis area. This year I called Crab Shack 2, mostly based in Yelp reviews. All I can say is that we were not disappointed. I called the day before I wanted them and spoke with a lady who knew her stuff. She told me she would call early the next afternoon to confirm that she could fill my order (Bushel of large crabs). She called me and confirmed she had enough. I showed up a little after I said I would as the traffic was bad, and they were steamed and ready. The crabs were big and heavy, cooked perfectly and so delicious. These crabs were expensive, but for a once a year treat, we don't mind as long as it's good. Our families ate them for three days. Thanks Crab Shack 2!! We'll be back! read more

I came here on Friday for the first time and WOW, this place has the best crabs I've had in a while! Each and every crab we ate were heavy, tasted great and were seasoned very well! Customer service is great too!! Lately it seems every time we get crabs, half of them are light and maybe a few smell funny. I haven't been able to buy crabs where they were ALL great, until now. This is the only place I'm going to for crabs now (shrimp was great too); it's just too much money to waste on other places where they give a percentage of light or just plain bad crabs. Some of my favorite crabs from last season were from this no frills, but get all your thrills shack. We enjoyed a few different rounds from them and it seemed that they had crabs on days when other places did not. I thought the crabs were seasoned perfectly, steamed just right, and were all true to size and full with no dead or soggy ones. Crab Shack's pricing was better than many local competitors for better selection of crabs, too. They do sell out quickly so I recommend calling ahead for availability, pricing, and to place orders in advance. It's pretty small inside, so i would not recommend visiting with more than 1-2 people or expecting to dine in. We only tried their crabs and our experiences on those occasions were worth the 5 star rating. I will definitely be coming here again. I ordered a half bushel of crabs and a 1/2 dozen extra if needed, (very reasonably priced).The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I needed help taking the crabs to the car and a young man working there was so nice to help me. The crabs were phenomenal!!! ASK YOURSELF DOES CUSTOMER SERVICE MATTER? Sadly this is my 3rd and final review of Crab Shack, I will not be going there ever again. Do they have great crabs, yes but are they worth the disrespect of a loyal customer. Never. I went to the crab shack on the Thursday before Labor day weekend to place an order. I offered to pay up front to ensure my crabs were held, she would not take the payment. The lady said no problem and promised to call me around 2:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. I thanked her and left. On Saturday when I had not received a call or text I drove to the restaurant. I asked her if my crabs were ready, and that I had not received a call. She replied, "I am sorry I got busy, we don't have any large/extra large crabs left". When I asked why she had not called as promised she replied with contempt in her voice, I got busy you know it is a holiday weekend. I responded you knew it was a holiday weekend when you took my order and you still committed to taking it and ensured me it was not a problem. THERE WAS NO ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT RIGHT, OR EVEN EXCEPT FAULT. She offered to sell me another size crab or suggested that I return on Sunday. I declined that offer. Was I disappointed that I could not purchase the crabs I was promised, yes of course, but that wasn't what really bothered me the most? Anyone can make a mistake. It was the absolute uncaring and flippant matter that dealt with the situation. Clearly the concept of Customer Service does not exist in her world. It caused to think back over the two years I have been purchasing from crab shack...the negative reviews about her "attitude", the repeated calls to place orders that go unanswered, the erroneous posting of business hours that are never accurate (if you are going to post that you are open at 2, by god open at 2, not 2;45 or 3:00). It dawned on me...IF CRAB SHACK WAS A BUSINESS IN TOWSON OR HARBOR EAST WOULD THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS THIS WAY? This experience has made it crystal clear to me that they have no respect for their almost entirely Black clientele. Their loyal customers deserve better. There is no crab in the world that would cause me to subject myself to this contemptuous behavior . If we continue to buy from this business in OUR community we are telling them this kind of behavior is okay. IT IS NOT.
