Stopped in for dinner on a weeknight. Circa is a modern American spot with a good range of selections on the menu. Conveniently located near the Navy Yard, metro, and Nats Stadium. The modern ambiance would be good for a group of friends or a more casual date. They have a few gluten-free/GFO options as well. I went with the steak frites - the 7 oz sirloin was tender and perfectly cooked medium rare. A bit more chimichurri sauce would have been nice. The Portillo malbec was excellent. Service was friendly and timely.
Circa was a great stop for a well-executed lunch. The Grilled Trout Filet was the standout, cooked to perfection with a beautiful texture and seasoned just right, allowing the flavors to really shine. I paired it with the SuperGreens mocktail, which was refreshing, balanced, and a great complement to the dish. A simple but satisfying pairing that showcased the attention to detail in both the food and beverage program. Definitely a dish worth trying if you're looking for something flavorful and thoughtfully prepared.
I stopped in here after a matinee on sat at The Arena. I had reserved a high top but they forgot to save one. No worries. There were plenty of seats open at the bar. The bartender was friendly and prompt. I started with the Brussels sprouts that were amazing. They were good without the blue cheese but I am a sucker for it. My entree was the shrimp scampi. I liked it but there was a flavor I was not quite liking. Lemon maybe? I paired it all with a French pinot noir. Great suggestion from a friend.
Place was packed for lunch today. And there's a good reason why. Good food, terrific service, friendly staff, good variety of things to eat, and they move you along quickly. Before our business meeting today, we got together at this local corner restaurant thinking we were going to have crabcakes but instead, I settled on a terrific chimichurri steak salad. You got your light lunch, your filet tips protein, on a plate full of super healthy, lettuce, baby tomatoes, avocado, grilled corn, balsamic grilled onions, marinated farro, chimichurri, champagne vinaigrette.. yum. Drinks included water and an Arnold Palmer. The Arnold Palmer was spot on. I'll get my Maryland crabcakes tomorrow!
Circa continues to be solid and reliable! Awesome happy hour until 7pm. It's bar only, but the bar area is good sized. The portions of food are large and the food is generally good. I still love the mushroom flatbread. My friend with celiac loves the baked chicken wings, which are gluten free of course. My friend who got the Mediterranean bowl said it wasn't her favorite but everyone else liked their food a lot. Shrimp scampi was also good. The bourbon drink in happy hour was delicious.
Yes. The food was delicious. The burger was juicy and seasoned so well. The fries were fresh as well as the toppings. It was a good, messy burger. The salad was absolutely delicious. The chicken on its own was a little bland but mixed into the salad it was perfect! Great amount of dressing and all the toppings were fresh and complimented well. We had mocktails and they were both refreshing! The service was phenomenal! Kevin took care of us and he was attentive, knowledgeable of the menu and had such a great vibe! They were accommodating to our fur babies on the patio. Will definitely be back again!
I went to Circa Navy Yard for a birthday lunch with a friend. It wasn't very busy when we arrived and we sat at booth with a street view. We were disappointed that during a holiday weekend there was no brunch. I did like that they offer wine in 5 or 9oz pours. We both enjoyed a 9oz pour of Rosè. We started with the Brussels which were definitely a bit undercooked and lacked flavor (not even salt and pepper). I had the chicken sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was huge, the slaw was meh. My friend had the chimichurri steak bowl. It looked amazing and my friend said was great. We didn't order dessert but they brought out a plate a caramel that read happy birthday (sweet thought, but definitely strange). It wasn't a bad visit just a bit underwhelming.
This restaurant was within walking distance to the hotel we were staying, and the front desk host recommended it as well. It wasn't busy so we were immediately seated in a booth. We ordered the Calamari- it was very good My son order the Chees pizza and a scoop of vanilla icecream with chocolate syrup- he really liked it. My husband and I shared the Grouper Burger with fries- it was delicious! I hade the Vodka Mojito- it was also very good. We really enjoyed ourselves!
Came to Circa for a holiday event, it was a great experience. The food came out quickly and was quality. Can't go wrong with getting the Circa Burger or the Fried Chicken sandwich. Some people told me it's their favorite burger or fried chicken sandwich, thats not my opinion, but they are good. The portion of fries you get are large, and they are crispy, which is exactly how it should be!
The restaurant was big, cleaned; and bright. The servers were excellent! My steak & frites were delicious the frites were super crispy, flavorful no ketchup needed, the steak was juicy, flavorful, just a bit tough. The wine was SO GOOD!
Circa is a great location for a casual date and outing with a small group of people. A little dark inside but you can navigate easily. Service is great and consistent. I only tried the entree salad which was descent. I had the mango blackened chicken salad that comes with ginger vinaigrette. I don't know if it is homemade but I recommend more ginger to taste. The portion size was a little small for the price but still good. Lower your expectations for HH on the food but the drinks good for house wine. I recommend to try this place.
Circa has a decent variety of options, from burgers to bowls. The Mediterranean bowl I ordered had a splendid array of vegetables, hummus, falafel and chicken (I'd maybe hope for a little more seasoning) but overall I enjoyed my meal and the service was great.
Old fashioned was excellent. The Brussel sprouts were delicious & hot. The blend of bacon, balsamic vinegar & blue cheese was the perfect combination. Great atmosphere with tasty entrees! The service was dependable.

Loved the steak here. It had that deep beefy flavor you want and was tender throughout. I had mine with chimichurri and it was a perfect combo. Sides were decent -- nothing to rave about but not bad either. The ambiance was relaxed and not too loud, which I appreciated. Staff were courteous and gave us time to enjoy our meal without rushing us. The overall experience was smooth from start to finish. read more

I came here for dinner with coworkers and we all ended up getting steaks. Mine came out with a great sear and still juicy inside. The portion was generous and came with veggies and a side of fries. They even brought us warm bread before the meal which was a nice touch. The place has a rustic vibe and feels comfortable. Service was steady, not rushed. Solid spot if you're craving meat. read more
My friends and I had an amazing experience at Circa!! The restaurant itself is super cute and the service is amazing. My friends and I went there for brunch, where they still offer non-brunch items if you are not interested in having the normal eggs - which is great! We got the huevos rancheros, fried chicken sandwich, wild mushroom flatbread and a side of home fries. The food was so delicious, literally no complaints. If you love sweet potato fries, the sandwich comes with them and they were delicious!! My friends got a couple of drinks, a margarita and a moscow mule - which apparently were great but also very strong :) I highly recommend checking out Circa, it's also super close to the Nationals stadium and metro SO its very accessible and in an amazing area. read more

I've ordered food from here before for delivery, but just recently started coming in person for Happy Hour. The drinks are really good. The blackberry margarita (not pictured) is delicious. I also really enjoy their seasonal cocktails, but every drink I've had has been good. They subbed the pineapple for orange juice in my purple rain cocktail (pictured), and it had the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. For food, I also love the Brussels and blue (perfect crispness, nice amount of bacon, and the blue cheese melts perfectly into them), the pretzel loaf (so fluffy and the mustard butter it comes with is amazing), and their Flatbreads (I've tried the Margherita and the rustic Italian and both have been tasty). Additionally, their service is great. Max is very attentive and personable, but so are the other bartenders that I've encountered. Highly recommend overall! read more

My friend and I came here last month to try their restaurant menu, which was a phenomenal deal and came with enough food for us to leave satisfied. We started off with the glasses of wine and I appreciated that the waiter was trying to be as helpful as possible in our selection. For the appetizers, we got the shotgun shrimp and tuna poke nachos, which were both delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the pumpkin ravioli and the scallops. We loved the scallops, however, I found that the pumpkin ravioli was quite bland and I couldn't even finish the leftovers I brought home. For dessert, we got both the apple pie and brioche bread pudding, which was a nice finish to the meal. While the courses were brought out a bit slow, my friend and I were able to enjoy great conversation over mostly yummy food for a long time. read more

Probably wouldn't come back again as I didn't find the jambalaya pasta that tasty... Came here on a Saturday night ~6:30 and had a reservation but probably didn't need one as the restaurant seemed to have plenty of seats open. Ordered the bulgogi wraps and jambalaya. The bulgogi wraps were decent, had good flavors, but were a bit hard to eat as they were on lettuce leaves. I was pretty disappointed with the jambalaya. The sauce didn't really taste like anything, it was very mild in flavor. The penne past and protein seem to have just been thrown in with the sauce. There was just no depth of flavor. I would recommend trying a different entree. read more

Came here for the first time after a Nats game this past Saturday and it won't be my last time. This place is great! Loved the atmosphere here. What is really attractive are the prices and quality of the food and service. Most all but one of the entrees are priced in the mid $20 range and they have a good variety of choices to please most in your party. We tried their chicken wings and liked the chili sauce that covered the wings. Wings were hot and really crispy. For entrees, the Almond crusted rainbow trout was quite filling and tasted great. I was pretty happy with that dish. My wife enjoyed her Blackened Atlantic Salmon. For drinks, they have a decent draft beer list and their Maple Old Fashioned is quite strong. Great restaurant recommended by the hotel we stayed at nearby. We were super hungry and ordered several appetizers including the beef sliders, bruschetta, and Brussels sprouts. They were all delicious and I especially loved the Brussels sprouts! Nicely roasted and crisp! For dinner I had the steak frites which was cooked exactly as I requested and was served with veggies and mashed potatoes. I ate it too quickly and forgot to take a picture. The restaurant isn't too noisy, conversations were easy to have without a lot of noise. Server was good, attentive, and friendly. Appetizers came out quickly and dinner took a little time. We came here after watching football to get some dessert. We sat at the bar and were quickly served water and able to put in our drink and dessert order. We got the chocolate chip cookies and the brioche bread pudding. The cookies were warm, soft and seemed really fresh, and the bread pudding was full of flavor and you can definitely taste the bourbon. It was a great spot for what we were looking for, and I would definitely go back to try their entrees. But if you are in the area and looking for a quick drink, highly recommend. read more
Overall the ambiance of this place was nice - clean and well lit. We got some seats by the windows in a booth and they were comfortable. 3 stars though because of the food. The Thai Shrimp Salad comes with their Shotgun Shrimp and a big bowl of veggies dressed with a Thai peanut sauce. The salad didn't taste the freshest and had some romaine that was browning. The amount of salad dressing was also too much so order the dressing on the side. Because salads cannot be served with old vegetables, I was a bit disappointed here. read more

I visited restaurant for lunch. Doesn't seem that the restaurant offers separate lunch menu, so I had to order from the regular menu. I got Chicken Tortilla soup as my appetizer, and it was excellent. I consider myself a chicken tortilla soup connoisseur, generally order it whenever available. The version at Circa was delicious, with still crunchy veggies, good amount of heat (spiciness), and served at a perfect temperature. Very enjoyable. I had Grilled Chicken sandwich as my "main dish" and it was very tasty, served with perfectly crispy and not overly salty fries. All in all, delicious. Outstanding service, prompt, friendly, attentive. Definitely recommended. read more

Was staying nearby and found this place was actually booked marked in my Yelp account so I decided to check it out. The wings and mac & cheese were absolutely delicious. I wish I could have it again. I also ordered a spicy pineapple margarita, which was a Mocktail by the way. The waitress did a fantastic job making this drink for me to my acquired taste. The staff was super helpful and friendly and the ambience was phenomenal. Whoever the DJ is or whoever made the playlist for this place had me wanting to dance. Next time in DC, I'm adding this to my places to stop and eat at. read more

Overall Experience, 3.75/5: Pretty good brunch experience here. The food was good, the service could've been better. I will say they do open a little bit later than most restaurants. Food/Drink, 4.75/5: The food was bomb! We got flatbreads, chicken sandwich, shotgun shrimp, and french toast. If don't know what you get as an appetizer the Shotgun Shrimp is a must! The bbq chicken flatbread was great, it was cooked will and tasted amazing. The french toast was fluffy and the chicken sandwich was seasoned really well. Their mock-tails were really good too! Definitely a must! Pricing, 4/5: The pricing pleasantly surprised us, considering its location, particularly its proximity to Nationals Stadium. Service, 1.5/5: Our server was STRUGGLING. He accidentally spilled our drinks on my friend and witnessed a similar incident with another guest's beverage. It's unclear if there were additional servers available, but it took him quite a while to return and take our orders. Aesthetic/Atmosphere, 3/5: It is very similar to most bar like restaurants. It was very busy at lunch time. It was hard to get attention or service from waitstaff. We ordered my favorite appetizer 3.5*BRUSCHETTA. It still tasted pretty good, but not as good as before. It lost its wow factor and became an ordinary dish. 4.5*SESAME CRUSTED TUNA salad included mixed greens, romaine. edamame, red onion, shredded carrots, cucumbers, avocado, grape tomatoes, jicama, herbs, crispy wontons with creamy ginger dressing. Very fresh and tasty. Tuna was tender and dipped in sesame. 4.5*CIRCA BURGER was made from Angus beef, aged cheddar, lettuce tomato, onion, scallion aioli, brioche bun and fries. We ordered it medium. It was juicy with a little burned taste just the way I like it. Very delicious burger. The fries was also very good, golden and crunchy. read more

Yes! Yes! Yes! I'm counting the days until I can eat here again! I met a friend for dinner here, and we were both blown away by the service and the food. Also, for the area, the prices were beyond reasonable. I had the spinach and goat cheese salad (minus goat cheese) - it was fresh, and the bacon and walnuts really added some great depth of flavor and texture. For my main dish, I went with the four cheese macaroni (which is a starter). It was definitely a good enough size for a single person as a meal, especially since I had the salad to start. It was super creamy - I consider myself a bit of a Mac and cheese connoisseur, and this is one of the better ones I've had. As I wrote this, I'm trying to figure out how soon I can come back and have this dish again! The only complaint is that if you are driving in from outside the area, parking is a bit of a pain. read more

I went on a date to Circa and it was a cute lil vibe. It was my first time there. This is a spot where you can go with your boo or as a family with kids. The braised short rib was sooo good. It's one of those dishes that give you flashbacks when you think about the times something was REALLY good. The second time I had Circa, I did a DoorDash order and I was nervous as h*ll. You know how when you order something it doesn't taste like it did in the restaurant? Yeah, that's what I was expecting. To my surprise, the braised short rib taste exactly how it did in the restaurant. I loved how they packaged everything separately. Love this place! The set up is simple but just right. There is a lot of natural light which already sets a good vibe. The short ribs are a MUST! You will only need your fork since they are so tender. They aren't super fatty and they are seasoned well. The sides are mashed potatoes and spinach with a fried onion halo but you can switch them out for something else if you want. I like it as is and clean the plate every time. The purple rain is pretty good as well. On the sweeter side, and no strong alcohol taste (which I prefer). They also have a good margarita which is a bit stronger. read more

I've only had a few items from the menu but so far, all have been excellent and fair priced. The seasonal veggies--broccolini-- were excellent. They even took the time to put a char on the lemon. This a neighborhood favorite of mine. The food and drinks are are good and the service is always great. It's a great spot for group gatherings, date night or solo dining. I visited most recently for a solo birthday lunch. For drinks I had the maple bourbon old fashioned. I enjoyed it so much I ordered the to go drink which came in a nicely packaged bottle. Love the evolution of the to go drinks! For food I had the tuna poke nachos and the free range brick chicken, both two of my favorites! I think I get the tuna poke nachos each time I go because they are so good! The chicken is nice and juicy. The barbecue chicken flatbread another one of my favorites. If you're visiting for happy hour I definitely recommend the wings, calamari and shotgun shrimp. I look forward to my visit here each time. read more
