The ambiance is jist what yoi would expect for a delightful dinner in Chicago. You can walkoit pn the rooftop and experience beautiful views of highrise buildings, Lake Michigan, and the famous bean. The menu is extremely to limited, although the waitress noted that the oysters are a favorite among customers. I had the Rigatoni Alla Vockda which includes a lemon ricotta, it was a nice flavor however the rigatoni was more than aldenti. I also had charred brocolini. It was very hard to chew, and while the fried onions and sauce op top were good, the texture was not and its likely my fault i didnt realize charr meant the flavor would taste like a burnt cigarette. We didnt try dessert.
IF YOURE IN TOWN PLEASE DONT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE! Beautiful views, sensational service, and the food was phenomenal. You can taste the quality immediately. It was a little hard to find if you're not reading, but its inside a hotel property (next to Acanto) and its on the top floor, just ask whoever's at the desk to point you in the direction of the elevator! Make a reservation! We went on a Friday morning at 11:30 AM and it wasnt busy at all until about 12:30 PM. Super relaxing atmosphere and comfy seats. We had the smash burger and grilled chicken sandwich. Both were to die for but the grilled chicken sandwich especially impressed us. Truffle fries were a must, of course. Their mimosas (cranberry and pineapple) were really good too, just stronger than you might think! Andy was our server and was very attentive and kind. We also got to talk to Ennis (i hope that's how you spell it) and he treated us like old friends and gave us a really nice conversation and even recommendations on what to do in town! The outdoor balcony was really impressive, too, with views to the bean, the lake, and the art Institute. You can even take your drinks out there after you order food and still have your table. We heard the grilled cheese is great so we'll be coming back for that next time!
This was a fun experience! It was a gloomy cold day in Chicago, but you didn't feel it being on the roof at Cindy's. I got the duck pot pie and loved it! It was the perfect rainy meal. My date got the pasta and added chicken I believe. He loved it! We walked outside with our coats to look at the view. I would definitely recommend for a date night if possible or that perfect sunset evening view.
First time coming to Chicago with my friend (who lives here) and she got us a reservation at Cindy's Rooftop for lunch! Cindy's is located in the downtown Chicago area atop the Chicago Athletic Association. The view from the restaurant is stunning and gives guests a really lovely view of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. The terrace is open year-round and is a wonderful spot to get pictures and take in the view! The interior is cozy and welcoming, with vibrant, modern touches. I loved that there was a glass atrium, really added to the ambiance and was unique. This is definitely a popular spot and I would recommend getting a reservation via OpenTable to ensure you get a spot. The service was excellent and very accommodating. All the servers do a great job of topping off guests waters and ensuring they have a good experience. Their lunch menu isn't huge but has something for everyone. They offer a couple starters, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. We opted to not get a starter. For my entree, I ordered the Lamb Shawarma Bowl with a side of fries and my friend ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. The food arrived within 15-20 minutes of ordering, which seemed appropriate. I enjoyed getting to take a moment to enjoy the restaurant and chit chat with my friend as we waited. My Lamb Shawarma Bowl was beautiful and a large portion. The bowl included basmati rice, tabouli, feta, tomato, pickled red onion, hummus, and pita. I really appreciated that there were minimal amounts of rice as it let the other components shine. The tabouli, tomatoes, and cucumbers were really fresh and paired excellently with the smoky lamb. The hummus was super smooth and I loved the olive oil in the center--very tasty! The pita it was served with was warm and great to dip into the bowl too. My side of fries was also great. They were some of the better fries I've had to be honest. Nice and crispy on the outside, not overly greasy, and salted just right! I would recommend anything we ordered, it was all very impressive. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience at Cindy's! The food was phenomenal, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere is the best. All the food was full of flavor and were elevated versions of "traditional" lunch dishes in my opinion. The service especially was quite impressive. My friend received her sandwich with aioli after requesting to have it removed when ordering. When the food came out, her sandwich had the aioli on it. Our server sent it back immediately and without hesitation he got it removed from our bill. We don't request for it, but went out of the way to make up for the small error. This was unexpected but appreciated! If you are in the area, I would highly recommend Cindy's. The food, the views, the service--all of it is wonderful!
Came here on Christmas Eve with my sister and had the best time! I love it here, the inside is stunning and I love that you can bring your drink outside to look at the stunning view and take pictures! Service was great! Everything was brought out very timely! I got a Bloody Mary to drink which was perfection! We split the oysters and chilaquiles. I always say the oysters at Cindy's are some of the best! I love them so much! The chilaquiles blew me away. These were outstanding. So much flavor!
Cindy's Rooftop restaurant has unbeatable views of Millenium Park. The restaurant is located on the rooftop of the beautiful historic Chicago Athletic Club. Even on a cloudy day the natural light pours into the large bustling dining room. The restaurant has an elegant feel; however, has a large bar for those just wanting to meet up for cocktails and to enjoy the people watching and city views. The service was great, we didn't feel rushed and our server knew both the food and drink menu well and was helpful. Entrée portions were on the small side, but were all delicious. Cindy's would be a great place to take out of towners for cocktails, a good light meal and views of Millenium Park!
Cindy's Rooftop is one of those spots that instantly delivers a cool, energetic vibe. Located on the 13th floor of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel--perfect for a special night out. My husband and I stopped in before a concert, and from the start, the experience felt elevated--literally. There's an elevator operator and a check-in desk on the first floor, so reservations are a must if you want to avoid a long wait. We went in the evening, so we missed out on the full views of Lake Michigan and Millennium Park since it was dark. I can only imagine how stunning it is during the day. NOTE: the tables are fairly close together, which makes it a bit tough to have a private conversation. We shared the charcuterie board, which was more than enough for two--perfect since we didn't want to overdo it before a night of dancing. Overall, it was a great pre-event spot, and I'd absolutely go back--next time for brunch or lunch to really soak in the views and get the full Cindy's experience. If you're driving, I highly recommend using the SpotHero app to make parking easy and stress-free.
This place has an awesome view! When weather permits, outside seating is quite nice. Since we visited here without reservations, it was first come first serve at the bar. In that area, bartenders are quick to acknowledge and engage. This is something that I appreciate quite a bit. Helps with settling folks down and getting a drink in their hand. Since we had a sitting spot at the bar, we decided to order a few dishes which tasted amazing. Scallops was my favorite. Truffle fries had a unique sauce that had me visiting it frequently like an ice cream shop on a hot day. Overall, it was a fun experience with our bar tender with great food and service. Can't wait to visit again when weather is nice again.
Super beautiful rooftop restaurant and bar. We came here before a bears game for brunch and we were seated right away even though we didn't have a reservation. The views are amazing of millennium park and the lake, and they had fire pits going as well outside on the deck. My husband and I got the pumpkin monkey bread to share. For entrees I got the chilaquiles which were incredibly filling and a little spicy. My husband got the shrimp and grits which were hearty and rich in flavor. Definitely recommend coming here for the food! Service was friendly but a little slow. It took them quite some time to bring our appetizer out. And our waiter forgot some items on our receipt which I had to remind him about.
The food at Cindy's Rooftop is unparalleled, although it is on the pricier end. The food is gorgeous, the ambience is wonderful, the service is strong. Best to come here in the summer so you can enjoy the patio. I wouldn't consider this a budget-frinedly outing but if you're willing to splurge on an amazing meal, come to Cindy's. They book up fast, especially in the summer, so make sure to reserve your spot as soon as you know you want to go.
Cindy's Rooftop is THE place to be in Chicago. It's located above the 13th floor of the Chicago Athletic Association hotel under a stunning glass atrium. I came at opening time thinking I could grab a table without a reservation but it was already packed. The draw here is that you get a beautiful view of Millennium Park if you have one of the few tables outside. You can also just grab a drink at the bar and stand outside. I ended up leaving but was able to book a lunch reservation for a Thursday a few days later. Reservations typically seem to be booked up far in advance. My mom and I returned and requested to be seated under the atrium in the main room when they tried to seat us in the side room and they obliged. We both ordered the Lobster & Prawn Raviolo. Keep in mind that a raviolo is one large filled pasta, which our server kindly reminded us of upon ordering so that we wouldn't be surprised. I thought the pasta was too thick and chewy, and the filling lacked flavor. I did enjoy the prawn bisque it was served in. I think it's worth stopping in here for a drink and the view!
Me and my friends were able to get a opening here for brunch ( it's hard to reserve) but enjoyed every bit of it. I ordered the carrot cake pancakes that come with 3 huge pancakes with great toppings of cream cheese mascarpone, candied pecan and maple syrup. I was only able to eat about 75% of it. I was had a side of sausage links that were good as well. To drink I got Tear The Roof Off that was one of the most delicious drinks I've ever had. It had rum, pineapple and lemon chai. Great place for after work drinks on a sunny day. Some of the best views you'll have from a rooftop bar. Our group of 8 was able to grab drinks from the bar without needing a reservation despite coming after work on a beautiful day. I don't drink alcohol but they had three interesting mocktails. I had the Back Up Again with Seedlip. It was a nice and refreshing fruity bubbly drink. Everyone else appeared to enjoyed the alcoholic cocktails. read more

Good view. It was packed and we were lucky to find seats at the bar. They only had the brunch menu so we ordered quiche, smoked salmon and iced lattes. They were good size portion and delicious. The bartender was really busy but was attentive amazing. read more

Food: The salmon bagel was loaded with smoke salmons and chive cream cheese. It's quite light and nice with the tiny bit of radish. The oyster were really fresh with some pickled vinegar radish which made the taste rather too vinegary at times w the lemon on top. Service: our server was good, made sure we had everything and got our drinks promptly Ambiance: it's a lot of natural lighting coming from the Celling and the view from the balcony is beautiful, you can see the been and crown fountain from there. I would recommend to try it once for the scene outside but there are plenty of rooftops that can offer the same kind of vibe and better food options. Location accommodation: I would recommend getting a reservation at least 2 weeks for weekends since that's all they allow in advance and if you don't get it right away, put yourself on the waitlist and there should be an opening in a few days later. It's def known for the view and there are only 2 seaters allowed to sit by the balcony so anything more than that will sit inside. You can walk around and look at the edge by the most left corner but it is first serve to see and some people tend to stay and hang over there for awhile. So take turns when you can so that someone can see the view too read more

Cindy's is the bar on the roof of the Chicago Athletic Association: perhaps one of the *best* views in the Chicago. I definitely recommend stopping-in for a cocktail and (perhaps) to take a few photos for Instagram. The CAA is a landmark building loaded with history. While I understand you're paying for the view(s), the drink prices are such that you're not likely to linger. The same phenomenon applies to the food. The portions are generous and the food is good, but there's more compelling offerings to be had elsewhere in the city. So, go for the view & a drink or two-- then make way for the next group of people who are doing the same ;) read more
The views, the drinks, the people all contributed to a wonderful visit at Cindy's Rooftop! My favorite drink was trouble finds you - well balanced and strong! It was tasty so that caused trouble later too . You only need reservations if you plan on eating there but if you're just trying to grab drinks then head on up to the rooftop get a few drinks from the bar and make your way to the balcony. Dope spot with some spectacular views. Great drink selection, from cocktails to draft beer. Interior space is really well decorated, good vibes. The patio is amazing and truly something special. We were staying at Chicago athletic hotel so this was a must. Direct elevator to the restaurant without any lines or wait before 12:30 ish. It got crowded at end around 2. Lovely brunch place with nice view and ambience. Brunch menu is small with no egg options. The açaí bowl was delicious wi the fruity coconut flavor. The salmon looked great. The burger was good but not really a brunch vibe. Get the $75 Champaign and split with 4 (each mimosa is like $16 on its own) so it's worth. Create your own/DYI. At the end you can take nice pictures on balcony that overlooks the bean and get a little overview of Chicago. Worth going to for brunch. read more

This place is all about the view. Food, service, and price were not impressive. We ordered bloody mary, walk the earth, the burger, pancake and sausage on the side. The pancake was huge and fluffy, although I would prefer fresh berries as toppings. The portion of the pancakes is humongous: even the smaller version should be shareable. The burger was just so-so and doesn't live up to the price. Bloody mary lacks spice and texture, but walk the earth wasn't too bad. Our server was nice and made good suggestions; however, we did wonder where he was many times. It is likely that Cindy's is understaffed. The highlight of the meal is the view. The view from patio is fantastic, especially with the fall colors and nice weather. read more

This has been on my wishlist for summer specifically & finally got to come for brunch with a good friends to catch up!! Also I was very thankful that I was able to get my reservations the day before as I was on their waitlist & was able to book the following morning! I got there a little early so I was at the bar ordering my drink before being seated! Overall I love the atmosphere and the rooftop experience/view is nice you oversee millennium Park and the lake facing north and south!! Love the open space and the views from the patio depending on where you're seated you might still get a nice view!! The services was good - very respectful and attentive of making sure we got what we needed and we were able to make our orders in a timely matter!! We decided to get the chicken and waffles meal with home fries that is really baby potatoes ! Their food was good - but can't lie I loved the drinks tho! I would definitely be back for their drinks and maybe try their dinner menu! read more

Wow! Talk about the views in the heart of Chicago. We only stayed for drinks and an appetizer. Definitely a must see - MAKE SURE YOU MAKE RESERVATIONS OR GO WHEN THEY OPEN. We didn't and waited for 45 mins. However, there are plenty of views and rooftops elsewhere. But this place is a must go! read more

Just got drinks here, they also have non alcoholic drinks, View the from place is nice, can see the Bean and Lake Michigan! Very touristy spot, I would recommend to book a table instead of standing because all the tourists are gonna be fighting for Instagram pictures so you won't get to experience the view read more
I'm still sitting here and had to make the review. Two stars for the view only. It's cute but my food was bland! I ordered the chicken and waffles, waffles are not hot and the chicken is not seasoned at all. The chicken is tempera styled and it has a good spicy sauce, however chicken that is not seasoned is just wrong on so many levels. Very disappointing experience here. I also ordered the "It's A Dream" mock-tail and it had the oddest after taste but it was cute and came in a wine glass. The personalities of tue staff I can leave. Hosts stand, Great! Service personnel, nah. However, the manager was kind enough to hear me out and find a solution. I'd say go to have the experience but the food may not be the best you ever had. read more

Love this place! Great view of millennium park, cloud gate and lake Michigan! Highly recommend coming here for a quick stop. Service was quick and very accommodating. Korean Chicken was pretty good, I usually don't really like fried food but this was lightly fried. Lightly fried I can eat. The striped bass aguachile was not bad a little bit too saucy for me. Also, the striped bass aguachile was raw fish, wish their menu said it was raw but I should have asked too. Other than that great experience/view! read more

We got the grain bowl and pasta dish. Excellent flavors and loved that they had a healthy option. We order two clams at $4 each. They were smaller than expected but still tasty. The food at here are normal, nothing special. This place have a beautiful view in city. The outdoor patio provides a panoramic view of the Millennium Park. It's a great place for a couple's date. Service was friendly and the food came out quick. read more
Went to Cindy's for dinner on a Thursday evening and had a lovely time! The ambiance is fantastic - a beautiful dining room space comprised of almost all windows facing out towards the lake, and the service was alright given how busy they were with a private party and a full bar. The place is a little pricy, but that comes with any rooftop bar in Chicago - at least they've got food and drinks to live up to it. To eat, my husband and I split the grilled eggplant salad which was absolutely delicious. At Cindy's, in order to make a reservation you must order food, this eggplant salad is good enough to warrant making a reservation! To follow that, we split the whole fried branzino and crispy mushrooms. Both also very tasty. The fish was flake tender and the accompanying banchan (pickled veg and housemade kimchi) was just really good - I recommend using the lettuce and herbs to make little fish lettuce wraps. The crispy mushrooms were also tasty, but from the description I guess we just didn't expect those to also be battered and fried? It was quite a hefty portion though and it was made of teeny tiny fried mushrooms, so you kind of almost ate them like popcorn! Only critique is the sauce is way too heavy for how small and delicate those mushrooms are, it could be a bit thinner or the mushrooms could be a bit bigger. Tasty though. To close out the night we got one last drink and closed out our check so we could step out onto their open air balcony to get a great view of Millenium Park and the lake. Absolutely fantastic! (almost worth the $18 price tag for an Aperol spritz lol) read more
A cool and trendy spot with a GREAT view at HH or sunset - definitely recommend reservations (well in advance) if having a meal. Pricey drinks and food in my view, but nice treat for special occasion or gathering; they also have weekend brunch available. Overall, loved the ambience, excellent service, fresh and creative foods plus beautiful view! A solid 4.5 rating, and expect cost of $18-30 shareable apps and entrees $25-45 plus beverages. We shared a few larger portion plates ... Burrata, Charred Broccolini and Grilled Chicken Thighs. Excellent fresh Burrata with smoked/roasted squashes, pears, onion and cider vinaigrette served with fresh grilled crostini! Grilled Chicken thighs were tasty and tender with cucumber, pickled chili, yogurt and crisp garlic - another creative, fresh dish! The Broccolini had a spicy flavor profile from many spices, and was a hit with the group, but personally I would try another veggie selection next time. Lots of other interesting and fresh menu selections to share. Cindy's is a wonderful eatery if a farm to table culinary experience with cool ambience is your style - definitely a place to be seen and worth a try! ENJOY!! read more

Had a fantastic brunch at Cindy's Rooftop! Staff was kind and courteous, food was delicious, beverages were unique and tasty, decor lovely inside and just what the doctor ordered outside and oh man, that view! Divine, all of it. I only have two recommendations for Cindy's: fix the fact Google maps does not take you to the correct location (you can submit a request via Google Maps), and make it clear on the website that you can come for drinks, just can't make a reservation (if that is in fact the case, but I think I say drinker walk-ins while there). read more
Cindy's was recommended by all of our local friends. We attempted to come in the evening, but it was closed for a private event. We were able to go the next day at 11am with no reservations. The hostess was super nice and let us know we had 1.5 hours prior to the next reservation which was plenty of time. Ordered the highland rose and blubbery banana pancakes. They were sooo good but glad I got a half order. Also got the burger which was good as well. The view was nice during the day and can imagine how much better it would be at night. There was no actual sitting outside, but you are able to go out with drinks to see the view or hangout. Definitely recommend as a must to visit. read more
Beautiful rooftop restaurant! It's quite "fancy" so be prepared for a bit of a fancier (stuffy) atmosphere. We brought my 3 year old nephew which probably wasn't the best decision because it's not kid friendly. I enjoyed the food, especially the chicken thighs and fish fry. Everything we ordered was good! I think parking is difficult or almost impossible for this location so I'm glad we were able to walk there from our Airbnb. read more

Cindy's faces east so no sunset...it is a pretty view all day long. Patio may be more pleasant in the evening on a warm day...
Do they accept walking?
They do! But come early - even if you get there before they open and go up the first elevator, you might have to wait at the bar. I've walked in twice during opening and been seated within 15 minutes.
Good place for dinner conversation? Or, super loud and you need to yell to be heard?
It is loud in the dining room, you can talk to the person next to you but have to talk loud or yell to heard on the other side of the table.
Are kids allowed?
I'd imagine so, but after 8:30 PM / 9 PM it might not be a "fit"...

I went about a week and a half ago and though it says you can't online, while I was there, they were allowing people to just show up and get a drink if there was space available.

Can't really say. I had the pleasure of dining only with other adults so didn't have to look for a grilled cheese or chicken nuggets. Although there were a surprising number of families with small children in attendance
What time is happy hour?
There isn't a happy hour, per se, but they do have a 'limited menu' from like 2:00-4:00 (or maybe 2:30-4:00) and it is just a couple of items/shareables. Even without a sunset view, it is well worth an afternoon visit, the lake view is amazing!
Yelpers! What would you recommend for solo diners?
There's a bar / countertop where a lot of people sit and hang out. Looked like a ton of fun. I almost got up from my table to go sit at the bar.

Honestly though you can easily spend $65 when you leave there.
Do you have to have a reservation for brunch?
Yes, unless the popularity has fallen way off. I made a reservation three months out last summer.
