Would rate 4.5 stars! Great Texmex. Can't get enough jalapeño cream sauce and chicka chicka boom boom spicy enchiladas is my favorite dish. My boyfriend likes the Elvis Presley fried chicken. Lots of flavors of margaritas here!! They look small but are a lot of ounces and you can order a side shot of tequila. Why not!! After work happy hours have free queso and appetizer bar. Friendly staff. Clean restaurant. It's a chain but it's consistently good. read more

Always so good!! We order curbside and eat at home most of the time and wow, it never disappoints! We have big orders (4-5kids meals, 2 adult entrees) and there has never been issues with my order. My wife and I finally got around to trying Chuy's tonight. It was as good as Tex-Mex gets. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Our waiter, James K, was attentive, polite, and quick. My wife had the Boom Boom Enchilada dinner, and it was great. I had the beef enchilada and taco dinner. Also excellent. We have always gone to Posados before, but there service has really declined. I go out to eat one meal everyday and I've had all the chain Mexican foods in town. I hadn't gone to Chuy's in over nine years because the last time I went, (Lubbock) it was like most place's, just something covered in a lot of cheese. Well, the day after Thanksgiving's I decided to give this eatery another chance and I was very happy I did. I ordered the Elvis Presley combination and it was really, really good. The salsa was the best I've had in a long while, fresh tomatoes chopped fine with some heat blended in, however like a few places in town the chips were to thin for the salsa and the first few chips broke upon entry to the bowl. So I had to put the salsa on by using my fork. I always suggest a Mexican eatery should always fresh make the chips to order, great first impression. Ok so once again..... I have loved this place in the past. I arrive today and there is a wait to be seated. I am ok with waiting but these jackasses have removed the seating to wait so I had to salt and the full wait time all the while holding my 40lb kid. We were seated and we placed our order only to find out we couldn't order what we wanted because it was Togo only. This was not listed in their EXTREMELY limited menu. With only 5ish items to choose from I had to settle for a less than desired item. The experience today has left me with a less than likely return status. I always have good things to say about chuys. I frequented chuys when I used to live in Houston quite a bit. The free nacho cart was a hit for a broke college student. Chuys is the perfect example of tex-mex so don't get your hopes up for authentic Mexican food. The burritos are your best bet with any type of sauce. Also, save room for the best sopapilla you will eat. The service was good, just your average nothing to brag about. Fabulous chain that needs to invade the east coast. The prices are right, the food is fresh and the salsa is nice and spicy. We ordered fish taco meals and veggie enchiladas. The chips are so light and crispy. Our service at this location was spot on. We met friends here for lunch and were kind of in a hurry. The server was a fun gal with a lot of personality. She stayed on beverage refills, chip refills and pre-bussing (so important but generally overlooked) without us asking. Very enjoyable experience. read more

I'm hoping this Chuy's gets better with time. When I was a student at Rice in Houston, Chuy's was one of my favorite places to eat. The Creamy J is so awesome. Tyler's Chuy's is OK, I wouldn't go so far to say it's excellent. Perhaps with some time the food will become better. When I visited this location the service was pretty good though, very attentive and courteous staff. Food comes out pretty quick, a lot quicker than most other Tex-Mex restaurants, but not as fast as other Chuy's. I would have rated at least 4 stars if they didn't charge a "packaging fee." I have actually complained about this to their corporate office and apparently it's a standard practice and has been for years. I have only gotten to go once, every other time was dine-in. If you dine-in and take your leftovers, no fee is assessed. If you place an order for pick up, a packaging fee is applied for a PERCENTAGE of the cost of the food. That is not a fee, that is a tax. A fee is a flat amount (think registration fees), a tax is a percentage of value based on a service or item. Apparently you have to pay them 30 cents to put your food in a container if you don't do it yourself. read more

I've only been to a Chuy's once in the last few years and was NOT impressed. However, while visiting my bestie, this is where she wanted to go, so I reluctantly obliged. She knew all the best stuff to order, and I have to say, our meal was GREAT! She ordered this creamy salsa (I HATE spicy as well as anything with the word "creamy" in it) but it was SO GOOD! That reminds me that I need to Pinterest search the recipe...anywho! I was boring and got tacos al carbon and they were fine. She got this chicken thing that was breaded in lays potato chips and covered in "boom boom" sauce. OH MY GAWD, it was delish. So good, in fact, that I considered hitting up the Chuy's in Plano today when I got home to order that for myself! The service was good at this location; we sat on the patio, but ended up moving tables because the lady at the table next to us was STARING blankly at us, and shooting us disapproving glares as if it's not normal to order drinks at 11 am. Now that I know what to order, I think I'll be visiting Chuy's locations way more often! read more

We have a Chuy's date night every Friday night. Some waiters are great, some are not. We know the ones to avoid. But we love Chuy's and it's our fav restaurant in town. The last two Fridays we've had a server named Miriam and she is awesome!!! She's so sweet and pleasant and super attentive. Awesome at Chuy's in Tyler, tonight. Hostess was conscientious to our personal requests and needs. Daniel, our server was top notch and Hannah mixed my margarita, my way. Didn't meet the kitchen staff this evening...but they too answered our specific needs, request. Eating anything sans teeth, (post oral surgery), is difficult. Especially a flour tortilla...my seasoned beef enchiladas with the perfect amount of tomatillo sauce easily, and quickly devoured. My husband's chicken chimichanga was to his liking...and when I mean to his liking, I mean that's what he orders at every restaurant that advertises Mexican food, or Mexican cuisine. And trust me, we have been to a lot of them in this county, and two others nearby. My son is the strong silent type, he's nonverbal and lives this life with the experience of severe autism. You wouldn't necessarily notice it just by first glance. And you wouldn't notice that the earplugs were to handle the dozens of sounds that most people tune out...but even through all of the chatter, I could still enjoy some classic music, my son could soak in the visual sights, and we all had something more than drive thru food. We come to Tyler quite often for my son, and while here we more than likely are in need of sustenance...this night it was Chuy's in Tyler, (admittedly we own currently a dozen or so Chuy's shirts)...my first Chuy's experience was in Dallas, on Knox St., if memory serves. The experience at this Chuy's tonight, was as great as that one was 25+ years ago....even if I didn't have the blue corn chicken enchiladas. Service wasn't great, even though the restaurant wasn't half full. My order was wrong, and they brought all the veggies for the fajitas for one member of our party and probably 10 minutes later brought the chicken. No apology or explanation for that. Just opened, so still a wait (20 minutes) at 2:30 on Memorial Day Monday. You can wait in the bar and get chips/salsa and drinks started though. Ordered Chuy's Special- good, chicken and tortillas were excellent, but the green tomatillo sauce was a little tame. Next time I'll order a spicier sauce. Great for a birthday dinner with the family. It was a loud atmosphere. The chips came with a bowl of salsa (which was pretty spicy!) & another bowl with some sauce that was similar in taste & texture to ranch dressing (a nice cool-off after the salsa!). We also ordered queso, which was great (we should've ordered another bowl of it for our table!). I had the veggie combo plate (they designate meatless items on the menu), which had a veggie enchilada & a veggie quesadilla. The beans & rice that came with the plate were also excellent (beans not too pasty & rice not too dry). I would love to go back sometime when I'm back in Tyler! read more
