Front door hostess was polite but lacks training, food was cold unseasoned and tasted very bland, the verde sauce tasted like green canned enchilada sauce with tons of canned jalapeño added to it, rice had no flavor what so ever. If you are looking for Mexican food, don't come here. read more

Awful service. The staff seated us (party of 4) in a back room without anyone else in that section. The server, an older gentleman, was taking our drink order, as my husband returned from the restroom and came to the table being silly. Then my husband (bilingual) told the server, in Spanish, to use 1800 brand tequila in the margarita I had ordered. The server then told him that he would not serve him (mind you, he had not even ordered a drink) because "they won't over serve" anyone. In a 3 hour period, as my stepmother and I shopped in the mall, he had consumed 2 beers. He was not and did not show any signs of intoxication. Needles to say, we gathered our things and left. We will not ever be back. If they are so overly concerned about serving a sober person a drink, then they shouldn't serve alcohol. My husband is a retired (28 years) Army Veteran and in 15 years together, he has NEVER been intoxicated and would NEVER be that way in public. It was an awful experience. read more

Soooooo this was not good Tex Mex in my opinion. Went for the 1st time on Wednesday and ordered their special $5.99 enchiladas. Ordered the food to go , no issues with customer service . I will begin with the staple item of any Mexican restaurant. Chips and Salsa = not good . They put some type of chili powder seasoning on the chips like they do at fuzzy taco/ salsarita. I didn't like what they use here and I think that should be left to those types of food establishments.The salsa I don't think is made in house . I may be mistaken but it could have been store bought . The salsa seemed like it was just tomato and maybe some type of pepper. The enchiladas were not horrible but they weren't that good. I ordered the beef enchiladas and they used no type of seasoning on the meat. Which wouldn't be necessary if the chili sauce for the enchiladas was good - surprise ! It wasn't . Tried this place for the first time. Was pleasantly surprised. Good food, friendly staff, and affordable prices. My husband was hesitant to go. Mexican is not his favorite, he ordered the pescada and said it was very good. The only down was they brought us spicy chips and when we mentioned that wasn't our favorite, they brought us regular chips. The salsa is mild, not spicy. Which is how we like it. I have been a HUGE fan of Papacita's for years. The last few times I've eaten here, the food has been disappointing. I ordered online tonight. I don't blame Papacita's for a messed up order. I can normally eat pretty much anything they prepare. What I did receive was probably the worst food I've ever eaten from Papacita's. Shredded chicken burrito was AWFUL. The spinach enchiladas were flavorless, either b/c they weren't fully heated after being frozen or b/c the tomatoes in the enchiladas. (Who does that?). Additionally, the dish was supposed to come with grilled veggies--nothing but bell peppers and onions. The taco, beef enchilada and cheese enchilada were ok, not very flavorful. After watching our cousin play a doubleheader @ UT Tyler, Saturday, we were all hungry for some Mexican Food! We were glad we chose Family Owned & Operated, Papacita's. First, the Chips are Interestingly Seasoned.....I like 'em! The hot sauce has the perfect amount of "heat". I ordered the Chicken Monterrey...marinated chicken breast, topped w/onions & peppers, Sour Cream Sauce & Melted Jack Cheese...served w/ Spanish Rice, sliced Avacados & flour tortillas. Reeeaaally Reeeally Good! Hubby ordered the Steak Fajitas.....plentiful & delicious! The waiter was very friendly & helpful....not bothersome. Moderately Priced. All in All....Great Food & Great Service. We left pleasantly full & satisfied ! I'd defiantly recommend Papacita's to anyone wanting to dine off the "Chain Train" . The Longview location needs to take some notes from here. Their chips and salsa are delicious. I thought the Longview location had the best but not even close. I actually had to ask if I could get a bag of them to take home. I ordered the enchilada dinner with cheese and beef, rice and beans. I cleared the plate. Looked this place up on Yelp and thought we would try them. Happy hour 3 to 7 Monday- Friday $2 drafts and $2 small frozen margaritas the large are $4. I had the sour cream chicken (2) enchiladas with rice and beans. Very good hot ( not spicy) like they should be. Their charro beans are excellent. Wife had tacos al carbon (2) nice plate very good flavor. I should add love the pour on the draft beers - right up to the top Service was great. Very nice place. read more

In town for my husband's graduation. Looked up Yelp for reviews to eat at a local Mexican establishment and this place had all these great reviews. Not sure how the hell that happened. First, it was dark and not bright like Mexican restaurants usually are. The chips were ok. The salsa tasted like watery tomato sauce. I had the chimichanga. It was covered in sour cream, avocado and a tiny bit of red sauce (supposed to be ranchero sauce) it was horrible. Hubby had the papasita broil. Again, bland. Also, what kind of Mexican restaurant does not serve tortillas? Thank goodness we are only here for the night. I strongly do not recommend this place. Go to Cheddars across the street. read more
