If you want authentic Mexican, this is a place to go. I had just broken my elbow and wanted Waldo de res. It was served traditionally and the broth was delicious. There was a whole steak in my soup! We've tried this restaurant several times, but it just doesn't suit our taste. We prefer a Tex Mex taste and this is not that, so we always come away disappointed. I have seen them busy during the lunch hour, but they are not busy in the evenings. I wish I liked it more because I love Mexican food! read more

The Gorditas are good but they're making them smaller and definitely not worth $6. That price was "ok" when they were making them bigger.

My husband and I stopped in to Cinco De Mayo for lunch and left quickly. I ordered Chips and salsa and as we were eating I noticed something in the chips. It turned out to be a piece of chicken with teeth marks on it. I asked the waitress if they "recycled" their chips as I showed her the chicken I had found. She said sorry it must have fallen off of the table when they prepared our order. No apology, no dropping the charge. We paid for our drinks and disgusting chips and left. Never again! read more

Mediocre at best. I was 1 of 4 customers. Never got my chips and salsa, but the guy who came in after me did. Server acted like i was a burden/ nuisance. I order the lunch beef fajitas. The meat tasted sour. I wont be going back. read more

The shrimp cocktail is phenomenal. It's just the right amount of spicy and a little sweet and they put tons of shrimp in it. I always eat until I'm so stuffed I can barely move. The ladies working here are always so sweet too. Awesome place. read more

Chicken fajitas were superb and enough for 2. The layers of the flavors were very good. Enchilada plate was just as advertised. It was like a little Mexico explosion in there. Went here to meet my spouse 1/2 way between Shreveport and Dallas. Glad we chose this place to meet. It's a local place with great food. Two of us got the Caldo de Res, it came in a huge bowl, more than either diner could eat it all. I got the Chile Relleno which is my go to in a Mexican restaurant I haven't been to before. These guys give you your monies worth! They serve authentic Mexicano. The plate presentation is not pretty, but it's delicious and you will most likely want to take some of your order home. Their salsas are really good as is their white caeso (I believe it's goat cheese). Go, they are better than other local TexMex restaurants. read more

Amazingly delicious and affordable breakfast. Everything is super fresh and the portions are generous. The service is impeccable as well. They've recently updated the interior portion of the restaurant and it's extremely inviting. The wait staff keeps the dining area very clean at all times too. Mexican food is hard to come by once you leave south central Texas. Everything is sloppy Tex-Mex with little thought or freshness in food (see chips/salsa where carrots weren't pickled or seasoned??), and the focus is on volume and speed. This was my third place to try that wasn't a chain (eg On the Border) and I have yet to find decent salsa. God is consistently average. Here, I came for lunch and sat for 5-6 minutes waiting to be told to pick a table and sit anywhere... staff weren't busy when you look at the ratio of tables to wait staff, but they acted like they couldn't keep up. I wanted to just grab them and pull them all aside for a coaches speech to get them to calm down. Location is easy to find. Building is old and has been a few different places over the years but I was told this place had the best Mexican food around. Hmmm... I ordered a lunch special with chicken enchiladas and carne guisada, or at least they claimed it to be so, and the food was just kind of sloppy and piled on the plate. The charro beans were good but everything else was marginal. Mixing chicken enchiladas with the beef stew was weird. In hindsight I would just do a basic Tex-mex meal and not try for anything more. Tacos or basic enchiladas and you are probably ok. There's potential here but it needs work. read more

Headed from Dallas to New Orleans for a weekend get-away and wanted to grab a quick breakfast-to-go. We pulled in right after they opened at 7 am. We ordered several breakfast tacos at $1.50 each and 2 breakfast burritos at $4.50 each. The waitress had not yet arrived to open the cash register but the manager/head cook went ahead and started preparing our order anyway. The bathrooms were very clean and stocked as was the overall restaurant. ...I loved looking back and seeing the head cook carry a large container of eggs out of the cooler - no egg substitutes used here!! Our order was prepared and we were on our way within 10-15 minutes. The breakfast was very well-priced for the portion sizes! The tacos and burritos were fresh, hot and tasty!! This gem of a locally-owned restaurant was definitely worth the stop!! read more
