Was shopping in Canton and this was just a few feet away from all the shopping and was recommended by someone working. Food was reasonably priced. I got the Stuffed chilli relleno in queso sauce. It was stuffed with seasoned ground beef. The beans that came with it were dry and hard. The pepper steak was mostly the sauce and veggies and was so oily. The food was just meh and each time we got more salsa it was a different shade of orange. The staff tho is very friendly and efficient. Would I come back here? I don't get to East Texas often but when I do I make it a point to go to Ochoa's! I went there 11/30/23 and once again the food was hot, fresh and tasted very good. The hot sauce alone was incredible! Spicy but didn't burn your mouth. The staff is very nice and accommodating especially Lupe! Been fighting congestion and could barely talk and she said she had a remedy. She brought me a cup of hot water, honey and lime!!! She very sweetly made sure I drank all of it. Well it did help and won't forget this incredible service. This is the real Tex-Mex deal y'all and a must stop when you're in downtown Canton! read more

We were skeptical to try this restaurant due to the mediocre reviews, however, I'm glad we did. The food was excellent, and the service was too. I got the Ochoa's special. It had a cheese enchilada, two tamales, a cheese taco, a crunchy taco, rice, beans, chips and salsa, and a glass of tea for $11.50. How can you beat that? My wife got the street tacos. They had good flavor, although the chicken was slightly dry (Add some salsa and it's just fine). I would highly recommend this place!! Only thing I would've changed would be the music. I would prefer more authentic Mexican music over the country music they were playing today. read more

Well, the food was okay. Order cheese enchiladas at a Mexican restaurant in Texas....we just left Arkansas, so we we wanted what we are use to getting in San Antonio. They was just okay. There was a seasoning in their chili sauce that was very strong, don't know exactly what it was. I think it was Mexican oregano.My daughter ordered a margarita.... ask what the price is. It was more expensive than both of our lunches together. Would of gave them 3 stars , but the 15.00 margarita, I'm still in shock. The owner of this place keeps his staff in check by making sure the orders are getting out timely and they are not playing on their phones. Restaurant is very clean and staff extremely attentive to your needs. Food is great and the staff professional. We try to come here once a week. Excellent Tex-Mex. Nothing fancy, but definitely fresh and homemade. Loved the chips and salsa. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The food came quickly and was hot-a rarity in the area. The only negative was the person doing the "greeting/seating was not especially friendly and did not get out of his chair to show us a table. He just said, "sit at one of those 2 tables", indicating 2 empty tables. This didn't make us feel welcome. read more

Don't. Just don't. The food is on the better side of good, but the customer service is abysmal. Yeah, a fancy word for an unfancy town, but it works. We had a dispute over a charge on our check, and the owner (perhaps a king? Oh, wait, we don't have those here) was exceptionally rude. I only say that because this was a dispute over $1.50. Yeah, you heard me. His waiter failed to disclose an upcharge, we disputed, he was rude to my elderly mother. Before it could come to blows, I extricated and promised never to come back. We'll see how it goes, but I'll wager a surprising number of Grand Saline and Canton residents will suddenly be going to the taco truck over by Brookshire's from now on. read more

This is my second visit. Lunch special is really cheap. I mean real cheap 4.99 to 5.79. I had cheese enchiladas lunch plate and now the chicken taquitos which comes with rice and beans. Plus free chips and salsa. This ain't world class mexican food but will fill your belly and not hurt bank at all. Real friendly employees and food came out super fast. Delicious food at great prices. Fresh hot chips, tasty salsa. Cheese enchiladas with beefy chili. Beans and rice are about average. My dad's taco was good and he enjoyed his beef enchiladas. Very nice owner and staff. Dad uses a walker and Mr Ochoa helped him very graciously. Definitely will return again! We live in Ft Worth and didn't know where to eat. I'm pretty picky about my Mexican food. So is my dad, but we decided to give it a try. We both recommend. It's not fancy, but who needs that when you have great food? Funny thing: I sent my sister in Waco a pic of dad eating lunch and she called to ask if we were at Ochoas. Turns out she and her husband frequent them when the go to Canton. read more

I have been a customer here since they opened. I've spent thousands here over 15+ years. ( I literally went multiple times a week at some points). I've noticed a gradual decline in food/service accompanied with an increase in price over the last several years (since they moved to building across the street). Today was the final straw. My 14 year old son and his 2 friends walked there from school after school le6t out. He ordered nachos(was a total of 11 chips) and an order of queso. When the ticket arrived, he saw it and questioned the waitress (politely) as the the total ( almost $20 with no drinks... They had water).. He was told there was a $5 charge for his friend because he did not order an entree... To eat chips and salsa (which he didn't even eat much of). I called the restaurant and asked for the owner, whom I've dealt with over the years and have always visited with in a friendly manner, as I've been there so much. I heard the man who answered the phone tell the owner that "some lady named Amy wants to talk to you" and the owner said "what does she want?", in a rude, 'I don't have time for this' tone. I explained, politely what the situation was, and that this didn't seem fair to charge a boy to pretty much sit with the other 2 boys. He couldn't have cared less. He simply said he would be losing money on that table if they didn't all eat/pay. So I informed him that I hope he stretches that $5 a long way, because, not only will my family no longer go there, but I would be letting people know of the declining food quality/quantity coupled with an increasing price, and service that has gotten terrible. You know, the $20 spent there means nothing to him or me, but it represents what has happened to them over the last several years.... You no longer get what you pay for. read more

I'm motivated to review because of Nicole's poor review. There IS a lunch menu and the salsa is AMAZING. Not its not packed with heat but it's FRESH and so yummy!! Food is basic standard Mexican food. Almost ALL dishes come with rice and beans. And FREE sopapillas. Ranchero beans are super great! So get yourself to Ochoas!! And the tables distances are normal. (I just reread all her complaints.) And people in Canton are friendly. I go here often and service is ALWAYS excellent. Ignore the one timer's opinion. Listen to the regulars!
