So I went back to the host stand and asked. Everyone was working to fit in a 20 top. I went back to the bar and was greeted by the bartender pretty quick. Had a beer at 11:39. My lunch arrived at 11:53. $20 for the queso shrimp. Everything was delicious. I could only eat about half, and couldn't get a go box because I was traveling. If I had paid attention to the menu prices I might not have gotten a $20 lunch "special ". It was good. Delicious. We split the ultimate nachos sans beef. Which if you read my stuff you know I'm totally off the wagon here. My routine is in the garbage can and we are only day two of vacation. They were so delicious but huge. Our server even warned us but we did not listen. I got something healthier to go along with it. Chili lime chicken bowl. Which I don't see on the menu but there was a photo of it on there. So grilled chicken over spinach and other grilled vegetables with lime juice. It was excellent. Also free unlimited chips and salads as soon as you sit down. The north needs to get it together. All our Mexican joints stopped offering this after COVID. I couldn't say enough nice things about this place if I tried. I think my plate was just under $16 and I got an appetizer, entree with sides and an ice cream for dessert that's unheard of in the current economy for $16. On top of the food being extremely reasonably priced the service was excellent and the food tasted amazing. Two outstanding things that I would like to point out about the jalapeno tree is not only do you get salsa And chips you get some kind of avocado dip as well it's not straight up avocado but more like an avocado salsa. First off, the place looks pretty cool from outside. We had never been here before but wanted to stop by just because of how it looked at night. The place is nice, pretty open and large inside. In very good shape. Everyone is friendly and the service was nice from the start. We got the usual chips and salsa. But here each of us got our own dishes of salsa and their more ranch/cheese dip. So no more fighting over the sauces. Both sauces are actually really good. The ranch style one is unique and I loved it. I ordered the salad with chicken because it just looked and sounded good. My wife got El Dorado Jack Steak. My son the Schwarzenegger. The food was great. Everything was cooked right, the flavors were great. Portions are very good for the price. Ok I have heard different things about the jalapeño tree. I needed to eat soup so we decided the to come here. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and it was delicious. Hubs had the jalapeño tree salad and he too enjoyed it. Now the child who always complains about her food. Had the mac and cheese and of course complained because it was not kraft and had some red and green things. Hubs tasted it and said it was fine. She did eat the rice. We had lunch here During First Monday trade fair days. It was busy but not packed. Service was good, plenty of follow up without too much hovering. Chips and salsa were very good, and both chips and soft drinks were refilled without waiting for us to ask. All three of us enjoyed our food. We were particularly pleased that they invited us to substitute soup or salad for rice or beans, so we all had balanced meals instead of the typical carb-heavy Mexican restaurant fare. Sunday night...short staffed...but the manager, Angie, waited on our table of 6 (was supposed to be a party of 8, but 2 didn't make it). Omg, the service was excellent! The drinks were amazing and the dinner arrived a short while after. Like I said...service was excellent...Angie checked on us often and made our dining experience perfect. Found this gem mid last year. I travel across the Southern States, and I'm a native Texan. I absolutely LOVE The Jalapeño Tree. I stopped in the Canton Location, and have a wonder experience. The Ritter plate is delicious!! I mean look at the filling in the tamale!! I couldn't finish the whole plate so my Server, Katrina, kindly reminded me that togo boxes are free. Haha. Seen this place dozens of times going back and forth between LA and TX, and finally stopped in! Wasn't sure if open because the parking lot was pretty empty, but then again it was like 2PM on a Monday. First let me say the staff was amazing! Everyone was so friendly and had a great sense of humor! Pictures of the inside don't do it justice. So many margarita options! I'm new to this area and my 2 besties came to visit for the day. We found ourselves at the Canton Jalapeño Tree for lunch. We 3 had drinks (Donny was great!), they ordered meals as I enjoyed some delicious hot flower tortillas with their salsa (good!) and that green sauce I could probably drink! They both enjoyed their meals - hot and good! 1 ate all and the other took what she just couldn't finish home. Ms Alana was our waitress and she was amazing! She was on point with her recommendations and small talk of my new town to explore! She made it the best lunch us 3 ladies have had in a while and we will be asking for her when we come back! The two most common types of Tex-Mex restaurants in Texas are the Don Pablo dark-panelled stucco haciendas transplanted from Old Mexico - and the brightly-colored poster-paint youngsters, like fiesta nightmares from nursery school. Jalepeno Tree is the latter. Think of a Mexican border-town gift-shop breeding with a pottery barn full of ceramic lizards. This is the teen-age love-child, right after it drops acid. But hey; the food is pretty good. We dined on a first-Monday weekend, so the wait-staff was overwhelmed. Considering the rush, they did pretty good. The lunch specials were priced fair, even on this Saturday. The lunch versions of Fajita Beef Quesadillas and Fajita Chicken Quesadillas were both great. The Sauteed Queso Shrimp special was almost $13, but heck - it was fantastic! Full bar, and if you want to sit in the bar - it is to the right immediately upon entry. Hostess stand to the left. The Iced Tea is also good. Plenty of onsite parking. If you are in Canton, this is worth a stop - just wear your sunglasses to mute the bright colors. read more

Im be writing this review cus there's something on my mind. I love Mexican food it's my comfort food. And if you advertise it's Mexican please be what y'all advertise. This place for what it is at its best is a Tex Mex restaurant. From the not even spicy salsa, to the cheesy cream dip. The green salsa was the saving grace for the chips but that's about it. What's missing is the kick of flavor and spice. I had a steak chimichanga and my kids had a chicken nachos. Both good but the meats seemed like processed flavored by product and not actual meat. What was amazing for me and saved the dishes were the beans, rice, and tortillas. Such flavor was a reminder of moms food. Also I must not forget the Staff was Amazing so courteous. This is a good place with Texan nostalgia and that's why ya got the 3 stars it just needs to be labeled what it really is and that it's a Tex Mex restaurant not Mexican food there is a major difference. read more

We come to Texas about once a month and we always stop by this place. It has some of the best Mexican food we've ever had the salsa is usually exceptional and we never have complains. The workers take the proper precautions for safety even when the place is busy. The only thing I will say is that if you sit next to the bar it's usually a little bit longer of a wait time just because the bartender is usually really busy in that area. If you sit on the left side ask for Macy she was absolutely wonderful we've had her three times and she always is super fast, very sweet and gets everything that we ask for. read more

I am so impressed with server Kim at the Jalapeno Tree in Canton, Texas! Although we were not in her section to be waited on, Kim was very helpful and made sure we were taken care of in a timely manner. I had observed how she was professional, friendly, and went above the norm to make sure her customers had a pleasant experience while dining at this restaurant. Also, I wanted to say that Hostess Tonya and Manager Angie, were also very accommodating. I am almost 3 hours away from this area, but I stop there every time I travel through Canton. No way. This place is terrible. Their Covid protocols were exceptionally harsh and the front desk persons were not friendly and scared of their own shadow. To top it all off, the food is mediocre dog food at best. Go to Taco Bell, it's disappointing but not at Jalapeño Tree prices. We've tried this place multiple Times hoping for it to get better but it hasn't. Avoid this place like the deadly lambda variant. read more
