I'm confused by the rave reviews. Yes, the food is fresh and served hot but not very much flavor at all. The rice is mushy, the Queso is always watery and the carne asada is always tough as leather. We've given this location, multiple tries, and the Carne Asada is always so tough, you cannot bite through it. The fajita chicken is so thin like it's been pounded to death and again very bland. Do yourself a favor and go to the other location on Front Street. Their menu is the same but their food has flavor. Their Carne Asada is really good and you can actually chew it. I don't know how these two locations can have the same owner. Their food is like night and day different. read more

Food was good and warm, good quality and fresh. The service was great, there was one girl running around during lunch on a SunDay and was great, friendly and quick. I was satisfied with it all around. My only complaint was that the Air conditioner in the bathrooms didn't work well but it was tailorable. read more

Went to try out some Mexican food. Came across this little whole in the wall place. I would have not thought to stop, but it had good reviews. Upon entering the workers were all very nice and welcoming. They even took the time to tell us the order of the day. We ordered and got all of our food fairly quickly. For the amount of food we got, the prices were really good. I think the only complaint would be that the mini street tacos..the barbacoa and carne asada didn't have much flavor and the barbacoa was really dry. The al pastor tacos had decent flavor but were a little on the dry side as well. The Mexican enchiladas were good and the chicken quesadilla had a lot of cheese and meat which you usually don't get. Very good breakfast tacos at a very reasonable price. The flour tortillas are very fresh although on the smaller side (5 inch diameter). Good flavor, good hot sauce. Service was prompt and friendly. Stopped by for lunch as well. Food was equally as good. In addition to chips and salsa they serve you complimentary queso and picked carrots with garlic. Fantastic! Chicken flautas were excellent as were the beef fajita tostadas. Beans and rice were good as well. The place is a little dive next to the gas station but don't let that scare you. This place is wonderful. They have a street taco plate that was wonderful. It hit the spot perfectly after a long drive day. The beef tongue was perfectly seasoned and they chopped and grilled some poblano as a sub for the jalapeño. The beans had all sorts of delish additions and it was ALL yummy. Service was great and it practically flew to my table after being ordered. This is my Tyler go to place for sure!! About 16 truck parking spots out back with much more space for bobtails. read more

Unsatisfactory experience: I order 2 lunch meals and 2 lunch meals to-go at 10:52am. I asked the waitress for chips (which are usually included) and was told that they are not free until 11am... 8 minutes later. After eating my meal, I went to the front to pay, where my to-go order was ready. The time is now 11:23am so I asked if I can get a bag of chips for the to-go meal, so that my parents will be able to have chips with their meal at least. THE WAITRESS SAID I CAN'T HAVE CHIPS. First an admission: I look for hole-in-the-wall places to eat, it's a kind of weakness for substance over style. But no matter what country I've been in the most interesting food has been what poor people eat. Hell, anybody can broil a sirloin or grill salmon but can you make something really good out of beef stomach or pork intestines? If you know what I mean you'll understand why this little place rates 5 stars and it ain't about the decor. What IS good here at least on my one visit is menudo and birria de res. What's more, menudo is served 7 days a week! None of that Saturday night Sunday morning hangover cure here. Also the roast pepper salsa was bright, fresh and plentiful. A nice little family business that is what it is. Authentic quality seems pervasive. No beer though. read more

I had been wanting to eat here for several months and finally received the opportunity. This was place was quite busy during the lunch hour. I was seated quickly by the courteous wait staff. The lunch menu had an array of common combinations. I chose the standard beef enchilada plate. While waiting, my waitress brought me warm chips accompanied with spicy hot sauce. Also included was a side of ranch dressing as well what seemed to be pickled carrots which was quite tasty. My order quickly arrived. I was quite impressed with the generous portions which included a serving of guacamole and sour cream. The bill was only $7.04! Wow. I can't wait to return for their lunch tacos. read more

They have more than one salsa, my favorite is the one they serve warm, it is also pretty spicy! The queso is also my favorite!!! Prices are excellent. It was okay. Had the mini tacos, you get 5 for $5.99. I also ordered chips and salsa to go, it was $2.99. The tacos were pretty good but didn't come with lime so that was a little disappointed I got home. I like that they give you pickled vegetables and queso free! I'm not aware of any places that do the queso with your chips (in addition to salsa). The food portions are also pretty generous. My coworker and I got different dishes and were very full afterwards. So if you want decent food with generous portions, come here. The reason for the 3.5 star (I would rate chain restaurants in the 3 star category) is because the flavors of the food weren't where I expected them to be. For example, the carne guisado gravy was just ok in flavor (wasn't bad, just decent). My coworker's burrito was in the same category. Had high hopes but wasn't wowed by the food. Excellent traditional Mexican food. Flavorful salsas, fresh ingredients. Warm from scratch flour tortillas. I had the fajita bowl plate. I ate half and was full. My husband had the beef and chicken burrito and said this is how to do it right. Great service. These gringos had no problem communicating with the friendly staff. We were looking for authentic Mexican food and not that Tex-Mex crap Texas is famous for. This place did not disappoint! Had the mini tacos. I had El pastor and my husband had barbacoa. I couldn't eat all 4. Was stuffed after 2 and was starving when we walked in. They serve queso that was really good and a warm salsa that was not only warm temperature wise but heat as well. After several friends recommended this place the wife and I decided to try it for lunch. She ordered enchilada and crunchy taco. I got the special, Swiss burrito. Salsa and chips were ok. Nothing special. Queso was ok too. Service was ok at best. But not good at all. The food was different, very "greasy" and just not good. Was not bad tasting, just odd tasting. We had already decided that this place was off our list. Then came the HAIR in her enchilada. I'M OUT! Didn't take another bite. This is my go - to Taqueria for my taco and menudo fix! It's run by the same folks as Lindo Mexico on 271 north. Just closer to the house. I speak fluent Spanish, and usually eat high grade Mexican food. This is where older Mexican couples spend their money. I'm a regular. Fat tacos....lengua (beef tongue), barbacoa (cows head), Al pastor (pork with pineapple, onion, chili and spices....Red gooey goodness)...fajita plates.....All kinds of Mexican staples...caldo De marisco (seafood soup) that is big enough to drown in.....A friendly word of warning....Some of their hot sauces ain't gringo friendly....and they serve fried hot red Chiles de arbol if the hot sauce don't fix your jones. Mexican work crews eat at both places a lot. There are a lot of Taquerias around but I know what I like. This ain't tex-mex, so be aware that the chiles are real. On August 21,2018, my dad and I (along with my 2 kids) ate here. The food was good. The service was horrible! The lady took our drink orders. She brought us chips, salsa and drinks. Then, came our order. We did not see her at all after that. The place is not big at all so she was in plain view. Didn't get any more chips or salsa once we finished ours. That's not the worst part, it was warm when we arrived. I thought it was warm because they were cooking or had the burners going. Nope. Their A/C unit was turned off the entire time we were there up until we were about to leave, they decided to turn it on when 2 caucasians entered to dine in. That's when the establishment was getting cooler! There were two lady employees working and counting cash on the counter near the register. They even left the cash on the counter the entire time of our stay. Our waitress was on her personal cell phone and hanging out on the counter. Seems like they wanted to save a buck or two by not wasting chips, salsa, and electricity. I understand waiter/waitresses depend on tips as income but I guess she just assumed we would give her a good tip by which we didn't. She needs to earn it. Not going back there, again. read more
