We've lived in Temecula for over twenty years. On a lark, we FINALLY decided to check out this winery. No wonder we've never gone before... Environment A dated environment, providing only misting and a fan. It looks like it was created in the early nighties and never had any further investment. Wine Probably some of the worst wine Temecula or any location has ever produced. It was like all the wine had gone bad, the labels were worn off and they no longer know which is which. Their "Tempranillo" tasted like port. Their Pinot was like weak water. Their whites all were loaded with sugar overpowering any palate. Food If you want to pay $20 for a lazily put together salad and eat it with foam cups and plasticware-- go for it. Service It was nearly impossible to get our servers attention. So, good luck complaining about any of the above! Don't waste your time or money. Anywhere else is better. read more

This was a nice stop on our wine day. Pretty inside with french decor and a chateau like exterior. I would love to stay overnight sometime soon, ideally on Valentine's Day as the menu looked fantastic. The wines were very good, the sweets Golden Nectar and Sparkling Peach were yummy and chilled. You walk through the doors and are greeted by a warm, beautiful, boutique lobby with friendly staff that greet you. You look to your left and see this big, beautiful staircase that will lead you to their tasting room. As you find your way to the bottom of the stairs, you are welcomed by friendly staff, a big beautiful room, multiple tasting stations and plenty of goodies for purchase. Now, I wish I enjoyed the wine more then I did. However, the experience of the entire winery makes up for it. Beautiful views and friendly people can really make or break a place. The only miss for me is the lack of food for purchase (unless you are staying at the hotel). I know most wineries don't offer food but I think it would be a bigger draw they should incorporate. All in all, we had a good experience. I can't say that this is the first winery I would guaranteed come back to each trip to Temecula, but I didn't enjoy my time here. read more

This review is all about the staff. From the concierge to the wine tasting check in everyone was pleasant and brought things in a timely fashion. The only negative is an aesthetic issue. We were out on the patio in front of a bar that had some sort of cover on it. It was an eyesore. Mainly, because it was ripped and dirty, but also not neatly covering the item. The cheese board, the fruit was good. Some of the cheese was okay, but some had no taste at all and the brie was all rind. I would not recommend mild-cheddar with wine. Other than that, the flights were great and the wine over all was very good. The little glasses should be available to buy! We'll probably go back just for the service and skip the food. read more

Ok so a few complaints. 1. Paid $400 for a suite since that's all that was available. 3pm Check in on the website. We arrived at 2:50 and the room wasn't available still. 2. Came back at 5, the room was available but everything else at the resort was closed due to a wedding. Nice to have known that when we called to make the reservation. 3. We get into the room that took forever to clean and it stinks. Like feet. Horrible. Needless to say we won't be visiting this place again. read more

Found a Groupon for this place and we are so happy we got it. Very reasonably priced for a great wine tasting experience. If you like reds and delicious whites (not sweet) this is the place for you. Visiting California, my best friend was eager to take us to this Local Winery since she's a member and knows we enjoy wine. As a member she let us know that she could bring us in for a wine tasting of 5 wines of our choice at no charge. Knowing California is known for their wines, of course we decided to include a visit to Churon Winery on our vacation. We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and were greeted by Todd and Nicole. They immediately oriented us and offered us the wine menu selection in order for us to make our choices. Being total "newbs", we asked for suggestions and they made suggestions after asking us about our preference in tastes. My mom was visiting from Northern California and I took her out to meet my boyfriends parents at Churon. First, we were barely greeted. Next, we were sat at a table with wet chairs and then forgotten about. And then it began to heavily rain and HAIL on us, ALL OVER US, because we were seated at a table with NO umbrella. Once we were wet all over and ignored for a significant amount of time, we decided to leave to a better winery down the road. It was a mess and we have never felt so ignored. The crappiest winery experience EVER!!! This was the first winery we decided to stop by and when we entered we were greeted with a hello. We came here with my cousin and her husband and proceeded to go ahead with the wine tastings the woman came over and asked us which wines we had decided upon. We started with our first and proceeded down the list 'cleaning out' our glasses as we went along. The woman came back and then snapped at us saying "the rinsing of the glasses is really starting to irritating me". We thought she was joking, but she wasn't. She then continued "there is rinsing etiquette you know". I mean WTF!!! We were regulars at Napa Valley wineries back when we lived in the Bay Area and NEVER has anyone EVER told us not to rinse out our glasses or chastised us for it. She then said "you only do it when you switch from white to red and if you didn't like the wine". I was kinda pissed off now. I retorted "actually, I've been pouring your wines out as I haven't been liking the pours". She seemed taken aback and then went "oh". Seriously, that attitude is the pits. Out of the 6 wines, we only liked one, the white merlot. For $10 you can't even keep your glass anymore. Two years ago when we did the Temecula wineries, we could keep the glasses and I don't recall the tastings to be $10. Nevertheless, it wasn't the price. It wasn't that we couldn't keep the glasses. It wasn't even the bad wines. It was the attitude of this particular woman that truly left a bad taste in my mouth. Hubby had wanted to purchase the white merlot but no way was I gonna spend money here after this woman got pissed off at us for wasting her precious water by rinsing out our glasses. Screw that! The wine is ok. My friend and I only enjoyed the strawberry sparkling. The wine tasting was located in the basement of the building. The place was under remodel when I visited. I came here because they offered a groupon. I would not return unless I had a groupon. I didn't feel like any of the wines were worth returning. I recently came here for a wedding and I was amazed. It was so beautiful and super easy to get too. All the workers are super friendly. My friend got married here and said her experience was super easy and they literally did everything for her. She had a very stress free experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone. If you have a chance to stay at this B&B, DO IT! I spent a weekend here and it was absolutely fantastic. The rooms are gorgeous, the care and attention delivered by the staff is awesome and really it's just the perfect grape on top of the sunday for a weekend in Temecula! It's also a lovely place for a wedding, so call them up and ask for details. As for the rooms, I've stayed in the Zinfandel Suite, but they all look amazing, so just go for whatever room you can get the best deal on! All of the suites offer gas burning fireplaces, Jacuzzi bathtub for two and a cute, private balcony or terrace that overlooks the amazing gardens, fountains and vineyards. read more

What can I say about this place but relaxing and amazing! I went with family of seven made reservations with Danny (Daniela). She is most friendly attentive and helpful. I'm not a big wine drinker but the wine they have is yummy! There food is also very yummy those jalapeño poppers and flat bread. We came during the week, and they had a great buy one get one offer going. I loved the location and the service was excellent. However, I am a red wine drinker, and I have to say some of the reds were very sour. I usually like most, but a couple just were not up to par for me. Our server was most gracious and gave me an extra tasting as I had to pour one out. All in all, a very nice place. At a later date, we might try again. Very pretty place. You need to walk down a set of stairs to get to the tasting room. Probably not the best idea if this was the last winery of the day. In my case, it was the first, so I was good. The staff was friendly, although not as attentive as they should have been. The wines were really good, I enjoyed all the whites I tried. My last tasting was a port, which was way too much, so I dumped it. They also had a guy serving carne asada tacos for $1.50, and they were delish! Wonderful place to unwind. This was our second visit. We had beautiful suite with fireplace and jacuzzi tub. Enjoyed our complimentary glass of wine. Brought family from Texas to wine taste. Started at Thornton and it was excellent. Came to Churon next. POOR hospitality at wine tasting bar. The one young man was not friendly. They only give you one glass to use for ALL the tastings. What? That ridiculous. The lady at bar said, "can you imagine how many glasses we have to wash if we gave you five glasses for give tastings." Unbelievable! This place is not what we are accustomed at winery tasting. Cheap and so far 4 wine taste BAD! Entertainment was great. Appetizer was ok... will never bring visitors here again. I only gave a two star. One for entertainment a d other for food. My husband and I loved Churon Winery & inn! It was cute, cozy, and clean. We stayed there this past weekend for our 1 year wedding anniversary. It is on the same road as all the wineries which is very convenient. The staff is wonderful too and very welcoming. Upon arrival we received a wine tasting voucher for 5 tastings. Then we were able to select a bottle to take back to our room as a complimentary gift. This hotel is romantic for couples. Visited on a Sunday afternoon to do some wine tasting. Tried the Sangiovese and really enjoyed it, wasn't too sweet and the grapes are grown locally. Love it! The Pinot was alright. On Feb 19, I decided to surprise my wife. We had reservations in Pal Springs, but I canceled them and bought a Travelzoo voucher for Churon Winery. When I called to make the reservation, I had to give the lady at the front desk at Churon my credit card number. I had to repeat it a couple of times because she told me she was having a hard time hearing because she was wearing a mask.????? She ask if I want a ground floor or balcony room. I opted for the ground floor. We are both in our seventies and don't appreciate lugging stuff up stairs. Finally, I get the reservation and think I am all set. A couple of hours later, I'm sitting across the table from by wife and get a call from Churon. The lady tells me her associate didn't my correct credit card number and she needed me to give it to her. I, again, was trying to surprise my wife with this Churon stay. I tried to convey this to the woman and walked away so my wife couldn't hear. When I try to give her the credit card number, she tells me she just had a customer come to the desk and would have to call me back and hung up. Two or three hours she calls again. Of course my wife was sitting right there. Eventually, I was able to get her what she needed. Due to the mess ups, I called Churon the day before were to arrive and was told we were all set and the reservation was good. My wife was pleased with the surprise. We checked in, we were told they didn't have any ground floor rooms available. We were also told the winery would not be open until the day we were to check out. What a bunch of crap! Of course, we had no alternative but to stay there. When we got in the room we noticed the provided a cork screw. Of course, it was broken. Worst of all, when I got in the jetted tub and turned on the jets. I found there were several tufts of hair floating around that were not mine. Gross and disgusting! 2014 Pinot Grigio Deep sweet mellow refreshing. Very chilled. 2015 Rose' Wines here are kept... extra cool. Vibrant slight fizz. Sweet tart taste with a mystery Berryish hint. Great with a meal. 2013 Tempranillo A great peppery zinch ready to come to in hard, but then doesn't quite. I like the direction they went with this, but it feels like they hesitated. Great flavor, too gentle. 2015 Zinfandel Well, I'm getting there. This was one was pretty good, but I got distracted in good conversation with Valerie, so I forget what it tasted like, I just know I like it. Quite the cougar she is. I'll pay more attention for the Petite Syrah. 2015 Petite Syrah Heavy, thick, and peppery. Just how I like it. A solid Petite Syrah. I feel like I've had Better at Peltzer, but I'd say this is the second best Petite Syrah in Temecula. Which says a lot because it's a 2015. As I sip the third sip, a slight sour pinch, but I'm comparing it to my norm of at least 2012 Syrahs. Fibrous earthy finish. You can taste that vine in a good way. read more

I've been a long time member at Churon and have celebrated many events there. This was once my favorite winery but no longer is. Doreen the wine club manager is very controlling and uptight. She seen to have a problem with people being a little loud and having a great time. The other staff members arei very amazing and enjoyable. They say one apple spoils a bunch....so true!! Very disappointed. I made reservations for a party of 7. Was never told the restaurant would be closed and there were no servers. No presentation. Nothing. Only one person behind bar who gave us our 40 glasses or wine (as we were there to wine taste) then was told we needed to carry our own drinks up to the sitting area cause no one was around. There were no appetizers or food to order only the wine. Can't say service was bad cause we had no service. The wine was ok. Two night stay in room 105...gorgeous views from our private patio. The patio has a small table with 2 chairs so that you can relax and enjoy the view of the beautiful property and other vineyards at a distance. The room was perfect size, not big and not too small. Has a fireplace and the bed was very comfortable. There is a mini fridge and coffee maker but no microwave. The bathroom is very nice size, double sinks, shower and separate corner jacuzzi tub. Only negatives for our room was that the a/c makes an awful noise and the phone doesn't seem to work. Our room came with a bottle of wine and it wasn't in our room when we arrived, we tried calling the front desk but the phone wasn't working. As I began to walk to the front desk we came across the housekeeper and asked her about the wine...she promptly put it in our bedroom and problem solved. Another plus, we arrived early, 2 out of 3 rooms that we booked were ready so they let us check in early. Our friends hung out with us in the meantime. They have their winery in the basement part, very nice size and Dani and Laura were very friendly and accommodating. The wines are OK, not the best, but guests get complimentary tasting for an hour everyday. They also have a very nice selection of gifts. As guests we had complimentary breakfast with a mimosa every morning. I had the omelet and my friend had the croissant sandwich, both were very good. There are about 6-8 different choices and for a small fee you can also order the breakfast to come to your room instead. Our housekeeper Paula (I believe is her name) was also our server. She was the nicest and friendliest I've ever encountered. Another negative was there is no pool, I like to lounge while the husband golfs in the morning. A nice alternative would've been some lounge chairs in our private patio. Overall very nice place, friendly staff and the negatives wouldn't keep me from staying here again. read more

We had a lovely time visiting Churon Winery. We stayed upstairs at the Inn, which grants you a tasting for each night. This is a small vineyard with a good selection of wines. We were given a two for one tasting at Masina De La Vinya so we figured that we would try this place out. I would not recommend coming here for wine. I can't say anything about staying here but it looked like a decent inn. Their wines tasted like vinegar. None of the ones we tried were any good. Disappointed. The blonde woman who checked us in started the experience off badly. Had she been welcoming in the slightest, it might have been easier to overlook other issues. She was just plain abrasive and unfriendly, not the best way to start our stay. The inn needs work, run down but really does have a charm to it. I think I would have found more charm had I not been so put off by the front desk "reception" The wine hour is more a wine pouring than a tasting. Again, not a friendly experience. The woman working literally just poured, zero conversation. And she rings a bell at 5:30 to let you know it's time to beat it out of there. The grounds are pretty, building has charm, breakfast was good, and the breakfast server was lovely. There is a gentleman who works the front desk who's very nice. Rooms are spacious!!!!!!!!! Beds are very comfortable!!! Location is great! The master baths are nice too! Nice and big!!! My husband planned an anniversary trip here and it included breakfast!
