They were both very good but I must say I enjoyed the Monte Cristo better. Next time I would order the Chilaquiles with the red sauce and pork since that is more popular. The chips were nice and crispy and the green salsa was flavorful. I just wished there was more toppings. The Monte Cristo was fried with chips instead of normal bread Monte Cristo. It came with pork and ooey-gooey goodness. The service was great and they checked on us several times. The price is on the high side, but this is not your normal Mexican restaurant. The first stop of the second day of our Triple D Tour of the Palm Springs area lead us here for breakfast. I noticed some complaints about wait times. If you're in a hurry there is a diner next door however if you want freshly made, savory artisanal breakfasts this is the place! Ysabel had the Farmer's Bowl and I had the Pork Chiliquilles with the red sauce. Ysabel loved her dish as is but I added some hot sauce to mine (because me) as the red sauce was mild. Chula is one of my favorite brunch places I have ever been as the food is homemade, fresh, flavorful and the scones are baked with love! I'm all about the huevos rancheros and adding the homemade mild red salsa. Plus the coffee is so good! On the weekends, it's packed and you may have to wait but you will be taken care of! Rachel balanced a lot with greeting us, putting our names down, and getting us a table while serving and managing some impatient guests with grace and composure! She's a gem! My only thing I've noticed lately (as I've been going for the past year since I moved to La Quinta) is sometimes the beans are too overloaded on the huevos! (Love the black beans but don't need that much in my life! Ha! I pictured the proper amount of beans but sometimes it takes over the whole tortilla and it's laid on thick)! FLAVORTOWN!! I came here with my Mom and sister for brunch yesterday after looking for a brunch place on Yelp and this spot was incredible. I already texted 4 friends of mine saying that I'm taking them there on our next desert trip. We loved every single dish. First we started with a savory bacon and caramelized onion scone and carrot muffin. Sooo good. We got another round to go after our meal. Best muffin I've ever had. Crunchy exterior and light, fluffy and warm on the inside. Must order the chilaquiles. Beautiful presentation and even better taste. Well layered flavors so you get a different taste with each bite. The pozole was also a crowd favorite. Katherine said it is her mothers recipe so I don't even have to tell you how great it was because mom's recipes are better than everyone else's. We got a table right away on a Sunday. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. We also spoke with the chef/owner, Katherine (or might be spelled Catherine?) who was so lovely. The Mrs. and I had breakfast this morning at Chula Artisan Eatery. I have to say that there are some pretty amazing things going on a Chula. This isn't your typical Mexican Restaurant. We arrived around 8:30. The weather was beautiful so we decided to sit outside. Looking over the menu, it was easy to tell that a lot of thought and innovation went into the food. The Mrs. noticed pastries were available so Miranda, our server, gave us the line up. We chose the triple berry scone which was good. I'm very picky when it it comes to scones. I compare them to my grandma's and hers were incredible. Chula's offers many of your standard Mexican dishes such as Huevos Rancheros. As you read the description of each dish you'll find that you're not at your usual mom and pop taqueria. I narrowed down my choice to the Huevos Rancheros. A work of art on a plate that consisted of blue corn tortillas, black beans, house made turkey chorizo, cage-free poached eggs, tomatillo, onion jam, queso fresco, avocado, scallion, and micro greens. The buttery egg yolk worked its way into the black beans which caused an incredible burst of flavors. The Mrs. ordered Mom's Chilaquiles with the red sauce at the suggestion of Miranda. Again, another work of art prepared with sautéed tortilla chips, pulled pork, sweet onion, queso fresco, poached eggs, avocado, onion jam, and micro greens. It was really good. Especially when the poached eggs mingled with the tortilla chips and red sauce. It is now 4:45 in the afternoon and I'm still thinking about my Huevos Rancheros. read more

Not listed on the menu but they Charge $1 for oat milk with your coffee. Make it seem like it's just another option along with whole milk at no charge. I didn't ask for 4 oz of oat milk. I just ordered a coffee. Nowhere on your menu does it say I was going to be charged for milk but it does give options of whole, almond or oat which is nice you offer a selection. This is also illegal per California Senate Bill 478 which was just signed into law. read more

I ordered the Chilaquiles with eggs over medium and everything was done to perfection. My daughter ordered the huevos rancheros made with cactus corn tortillas and it too was fabulous. Honestly, one could tell the food is prepared with love and great care. Service was perfect too. Our waitress was warm and efficient adding to our delightful culinary experience. Having now officially worked my way through the menu, this is a long overdue review. I love going on the first and third Friday evenings of the month. When you have a large party you're never rushed, as your table will not be turned over for the night. They have a decent wine menu which has pleasantly surprised us a few times. Another bonus is the live music which so far hasn't been too loud that we weren't able to continue conversing with each other. Favorite appetizers include the cheeseboard, esquites, and shrimp cocktail. You must try the Chile relleno without a doubt, and any dessert. I also like the breakfast and lunch menu which I haven't gotten quite through everything yet. They serve Joshua tree coffee. We adore Rita and Georgina the Loveliest servers around. Oh so bueno! Chula Artisan Eatery is one of those places that you only find through word of mouth since it's tucked behind a Mexican food joint and hidden by a number of medical offices. This artisan eatery specializes in farm to table ingredients and hosts both a restaurant and cafe. The restaurant largely serves healthy Mexican eats, including chilaquiles, tortas, grain bowls, etc. My mom and I decided to get a number of items to share and settled on their chicken torta and queso fresco dip. I don't have the words to express my happiness while eating this meal. The torta was fresh, warm, and stackkkkedd with avocado! The queso fresco.. be still my heart.. deserves a Michelin Star.. or ten. Their cafe also has a full coffee menu and they're stacked with delicious baked goods! My mom and I snacked on both the pumpkin bread and the citrus scone. The pumpkin was easily our favorite! The only item I found disappointing was their chai latte, which tasted more like a mocha. Tasty, but it wasn't really what I ordered. I'll also note that their menu is on the pricier side, each entree is between $16-18. So thankful to have Yelp as my dining sidekick! Don't sleep on Chula. The place isn't big but it's small and adorable. We had a big group of 15 and they made it work. Everything was amazingly delicious. From the matcha to every plate my family order. I'm a person that gets bloated from eating out since restaurants use bad oils and not fresh ingredients. But this place you could taste the freshly goodness. I didn't find the little loveseat all that comfy but the place was very clean and casual. We sat inside but they have a very nice patio. The food here is very good. Very fresh and made to order. The best chili relleno I have had in a long time. Nice selection of every course. I would like to try brunch! Creative, fresh, delicious food! This am at 10:30-10:45 waited in the crazy busy foyer to put our name down. However no names were being taken down. Everyone just packed inside waiting around. No one knew who was next so we just assembled ourselves and waited. We were only there waiting to put our name in for 15 mins, our neighbors were there for 30 waiting as well. Our party of two, as well as two other parties of two just gave up and left. A hostess made one appearance to seat people at the front of the line, but it seemingly would have been really simple to write our name down/give hostess our name and wait outside. (Yes I already looked on Yelp & Chula website yesterday to see about reservations as today is Sunday). The people finishing up at an outside table said they were no longer seating outside and they were short staffed. So sad!
