    Double shot of espresso

A cute little café tucked into the heart of the El Paseo shopping district in downtown Palm Springs. They offer plenty of fresh-baked treats, great coffee, and solid café fare. The atmosphere, however, felt a bit tense. The owner came across as strict--no cash accepted, directing customers where to stand, and overall a bit domineering. With only one server working, he seemed understandably stressed, and the overall vibe wasn't particularly warm or welcoming. Maybe it was the busy holiday weekend, but it was hard to tell. On the bright side, our drinks were strong and delicious, and the panini we ordered was excellent.

We found a charming European-style cafe in Palm Desert on our trip to Palm Springs.. Il Sogno is known for their delicious pastries. We stopped for coffee and a sweet treat. The place is warm and inviting. The staff is friendly and helpful. My hubby had a pecan bar and I had key lime pie. Yummerz! Making our selection was difficult because there were so many delectable pastries to choose from. I also ordered a that perfectly frothed cappuccino, too. Il Sogno also serves light meals like sandwiches and quiche. I talked to three patrons that were dining in the restaurant, who were all locals, and through our conversations I found out that they went there time and time again. I don't blame them. If I had this cafe close to my home, I'd be a frequent customer. I highly recommend this café for the warm and welcoming atmosphere and their amazing pastries.

Il Sogno which means "Dream" in Italian, is a small café located on the fashionable El Paseo in Palm Desert. It is quite adorable, charming and cozy, run by the extremely personable owner. It was one of the first days of sweltering temperatures so common to the area. After shopping and visits to galleries, by late afternoon I was a bit wilted and needed a small jolt of energy. Il Sogno looked inviting, and it's first impression sold me on going in for a restful break. The long granite countertop across from the seating area was covered in a multititde of absolutely gorgeous desserts of cakes, cookies, tarts, and much more. I chose a lemon bar, which she coated with more powdered sugar and carefully sliced it for us to share. We ordered two ice cappuccino to enjoy with it. A wonderful European style café and coffee & tea establishment. $$$

Melted crème fraiche on a mediocre tart.

Went for a quick lunch take out. Less than friendly and inviting. Slightly overpriced. Dessert was disappointing. Peach tart with crème fraiche melted on top. Probably won't become a regular spot.

Gorgeous pastries galore at Il Sogno on El Paseo in Palm Desert

Wonderful desserts, delicious cappuccinos in big mugs and sidewalk bistro tables make it easy to pretend you're on the Champs Elysees instead of the desert. Il Sognos cases seem to overflow with sumptuous pastries, including princess cakes topped with marzipan and hand-latticed mini pies. The tiniest stars are dusted with powdery sugar--ginger snaps, and large pies are available, too. Service is warm and you are encouraged to indulge your sweet tooth guilt-free. The dark wooden shelves are filled with everything from biscotti to meringues, and coffee is handmade, too. Il Sogno's aesthetic feels authentically Italian; the love with which the food is created comes through in each bite of buttery crust. While my friend and I enjoyed our coffee and cake on the sidewalk patio, a dozen or more people walked by and were mesmerized by the inviting vibe of Il Sogno. Most of them walked in and enjoyed some of the best baked goods, friendliest service, and most charming ambience in Palm Desert!

Exceptional service! My #1 aspect of experience. If the business can pass this test, then the rest falls in place.. This place is adorable., charming, like you're in a storybook as a young child salivating at all of the things in front of you and your mind is spinning around with so much to choose from. Of course, dessert first right? None of this save the best for last go for the dessert first, that's a way to start your day. I love the ambience and the owner was so personable Mira. She brought out our cappuccinos. She brought out food when we went to pay she extended additional services. There was another lady who was so helpful and we were dining. We had a lot of plates because we had to try everything and she came out cleared our plates so we could have room. The place was quiet when we got there, but it sure filled up. I guess we were lucky to show up when we did. There were travelers from all over and we were acting like their personal concierge, giving them advice on where to go. Everyone who is seated at the patio was talking amongst each other and with each other it was such an inviting place. That's the kind of atmosphere this place provided. You just wanted to stay and talk with everyone over a delicious cup of cappuccino with the most savory and sweet pastries. Or Panini's were good too. But there's way too much to choose from. I couldn't make up my mind. But what we had was delicious. We had a blueberry pastry and a pumpkin pastry and two Panini's. It was so good. If you go there take some extra cash because you want to get more things just to try. We ended up paying $84 for our breakfast for two. We tend to overindulge when we have so much goodness in front of us

The plates the owner wrapped for me!

Let me tell you about feeling welcomed and loved here at Il Sogno. We came in with no knowledge on the bakery goods the owner was selling and she went through them with a passion and care and her recommendations were truthful to what we were looking to taste. The Lattes were delicious, the ambiance was romantic and fun. We even bought homemade Italian plates! That apple pie cake was so good we took 6! I truly don't understand the negative reviews but hey to each their own, definitely will be back.

Stumbling in to this beautiful café, makes you feel as if you just stepped into a beautiful warm café in Paris. It's the real deal folks .... It smells amazing ! Everything looks amazing ! And I must tell you, everything tastes amazing ! Their little macaroons are delicious... I could have spent all day, just enjoying the European feels that you get from walking through the door. It almost seemed out of placed being in Palm Desert . But then again, I feel Palm Desert really is stepping up their game.. kudos

Delicious cucumber soup and grilled cheese

First the good news. I loved walking in and feeling like I was in France at a sidewalk cafe! It's like a portal from palm desert to France. The lunch , chilled cucumber soup and half a grilled cheese was high quality and really tasty along with the home made lemonade. I loved the hat shaped ice cubes which I've never seen before. A five star experience. I see why they get 31/2 stars if you factor in the pastries and sweets. Mom spent 50 dollars on a few pastries which were so beautiful to look at but we were not impressed. I'm not sure if they were fresh. They have a tremendous variety of sweets expanding the entire length of the restaurant. It's like Disneyland to your eyes! In my opinion, I don't think you can possibly sell all those sweets in a timely manor. Especially because they are very expensive as well. Only 2 stars for the pastries . If you are charging top dollar they have to be fresh and spectacular or you will not get repeat business. Of course, I know nothing about the restaurant business but my suggestion to the owner is make far fewer varieties of sweets which will sell out each day to curb the price and freshness. Just a thought. We go to another French pastry shop in Palm Springs called peninsula pastries which isn't cheap either but they are very busy and they have a lot less variety so I think they sell out daily. I will definitely return for lunch but skip the pastries .

I just happened to walk by great spot on El paseo and just I had to stop in. European vibes skip Starbucks and run here. The owner was lovey and welcoming. There is a sea of home made pastries to satisfy any taste. The cappuccino was enormous but delicious! I'll be back!

    Cappuccino and berry pastry, phenomenal!

They have a pretty creative menu with a lot of unique syrups and drink concoctions so it made it hard for me to choose. I asked the worker for her recommendations and she kindly explained the menu to me. I was sold when I heard about the cafe de olla being made in-house and fresh at that -- she pointed to the vat right behind her. So, I got the iced cafe de olla latte and it was the perfect sweetness with hints of spice that added flavor to the coffee. I would order this again and wanted to come back here the same day. There was no line when I went but they was a line forming when I was leaving. There's no seating area so it's more of a grab-and-go place.

The funny thing? While the retail was still shuttered, the cafés and entertainment spots were already buzzing. That contrast -- empty storefronts on one side, the smell of fresh coffee on the other -- gave the whole place a quiet but inviting vibe. I walked into Xanti's and ordered two drinks: a strong macchiato (because sometimes you just need that punch) and a hot lavender matcha for balance. Total was $11.25, which felt more than fair. I tried paying with a $100 bill, but the barista politely explained they couldn't take it. No stress, no attitude -- just professional and smooth. Service really stood out here. The barista, a friendly guy with calm energy, not only took the order but noticed I'd settled into my phone at the table. A couple of minutes later, he personally brought both drinks over. That simple gesture made the experience feel way more personal than you'd expect from a mall coffee stop. As for the drinks? The macchiato was bold, clean, and exactly the kind of kick I needed. The lavender matcha surprised me -- creamy, floral, not too sweet, just enough to feel like a treat. Together, they struck a perfect balance: one to wake me up, one to slow me down. So yeah, it's technically "just" a coffee spot in a mall, but don't let that fool you. Between the timing, the vibe, and the barista's extra touch, it was one of those experiences that sticks.
