Hi! I am staying in Rancho Mirage and went here cos a friend with me wanted a croissant. Turns out this place is a restaurant as well as a bakery, so we stayed and I had the croque madame and a super frothy cappucino. Friend said his hot chocolate and croissant were great. My sandwich was great. Told Marc the owner who served us, this is gonna be the best meal of my day. I got takeout with steak and eggs and the onion soup for my son (clearly I'm spoiling him). Come here to try something better and different. Great menu options and I am madly in love with the Cordon Blue sandwich. Fresh and a good size for the cost = good value. Servers add to the french feel as well as the decor and menu. There is something for everyone. There are many merchandise items that fit into the French theme. I bought a nice useful cloth bowl for the memory. There are a number of good cooking and kitchen knife sets for sale well. Our group of five had delicious meals in Friday night. I had the prefixed meal for $39.95, which includes a glass of wine or soup, and choice of entree. The French onion soup was delicious. The entrées included vegetable starch and protein. I ordered the sole meuniere (spelling?). You could order either meuniere or piccata style. It was cooked perfectly and was also slightly crispy at the same time. It was outstanding. My mother ordered piccata and she loved it. It was served with au gratin potatoes and perfectly cooked vegetables. Well it is off season. They were happy to see us. The server was very chatty and the French lady who is always there was promoting desserts. Lots of pastries I had the hamburger. It had Swiss cheese lettys and tomato and a few grilled onions on a sesame seeded bun. Honestly the Swiss cheese was not my favorite, I opted for the fries. My had the turkey burger with a salad. I've eaten here six times over the last few months and I've even altered my usual shopping route to eat here. The third time I ate there I had a Duck Maigret Salad that was just out of this world. Then I followed up with a vanilla custard filled tart and a cup of coffee. Wow, everything was just superb. We eat out a great deal and, no matter the price point, the food here is the equal of any restaurant. The service was unhurried, we had coffee refills and I lingered over the custard tart, loathe to finish it. I was stunned over the comment that said there was a $15 'fee' added. The lovely decor, the aroma of fresh baked croissant, the cooked to perfection macarons, and the crepe maison, ooh lala! I had the egg white omelette with spinach and mushroom along with sliced tomatoes and fresh fruit. It was cooked to perfection and filled with spinach. Magnifique! Funny, friends of ours had said they had been there several time and the cafe employees were not so kind; we had the complete opposite experience. We came here for a late lunch after a walk. I had the seafood omelette and my aunt had the ratatouille crepe. My omelette was good but the side salad looked like it had seen better days. The croissant was very good. The sandwiches were served on a French baguette, which was a nice change from the last sandwich I had here. They were decent, but we felt that both could have used a little more butter, mayo, horseradish, or some other spread. The service is good, so you just have to ask for something, and it's no problem getting it quickly. BAKERY: One of the main reasons we visit is to pick up wonderful items from their bakery. The pastries and desserts are not only visually beautiful, but they're also C'est très magnifique! The sweet potato fries were the best we had. The omlette and herbacious roasted potatoes were one of the best I've had. I visited the French corner Cafe for breakfast today (Sunday morning) it was very crowded. While I really enjoyed the food--honestly, it was excellent--the service was almost non-existent. I had to track down the waiter myself, and I even had to call someone over just to get any help. Nobody came by to offer coffee or water, which was disappointing. The hostess, unfortunately, was extremely rude, which left a bad first impression. While the food deserves recognition (hence my three-star rating), the service was a zero. I hope management reads this and takes steps to improve because customer service is just as important as the food. I'll have to think twice before returning. read more

Best Croissants! I've been on a hunt for the best croissants. I've visited many top bakeries in San Francisco, Santa Barbara and LA. You can imagine how many croissants I've eaten!
