He said it was meh. His first choice was beignets so I don't think anything was going to taste as good as those lol. And his plate was pretty much clean so...they couldn't have been bad. I see a lot of comments confusing this delicious Mexican Panadería aka Mexican Bakery for the La Quinta baking company located on 111 and Washington. Not the same place !!! This Panadería is amazing !! My family has lived in the cove for years and we have always purchased delicious Mexican bread here. They have great service and prices. They only take cash and if you come in the morning you may pick fresh warm bread. This is an authentic panaderia! It is very small. You walk in and pick your pastries using a tray and tongs. Place your tray up on the counter and ring the bell. Someone comes to the counter and rings you up. The prices are super cheap. I only paid $2.50 for 2 large sized pastries. The crust of the lemon bar was not light and melt-in-your-mouth. It was not bursting with lemon flavor. The crust of the apricot tart was not at all flaky. Apricot topping flavor only okay. Cookies are my Achilles heel, but I did not even want to finish this one. In fairness, it was late afternoon when we arrived so the items were probably not at their best. It was interesting... A lot smaller than I expected...2-3 people could fit in the small storefront. CASH ONLY... They also serve coffee... But nowhere to sit. Good deals though $.50 and $.75 for cookies and treats... The cookies were on the crunchy side... I like chewy cookies... But, they had a nice, not overly sweet flavor and nice dough... The lady behind the mini counter was nice... But she gave me tongs (with cheese or cheesecake on them already) to use to pick out my own cookies... Sanitary? Hmmmmm... {scratching chin with one eye squinting & looking up into the air for answers} Would I return? Only if I was already in LQ Cove area...No special trips will be made... :-) I wonder if their main business is supplying restaurants with breads & cookies...as well as Party Cakes... I don't know... I ordered a cake for a baby shower for 15 people. I paid $52 for a cake that was delivered with illegible writing. It was sloppy and they were missing an important word on the cake... AND. It was a baby shower for two mom's and on the cake it read, "Welcome Will Rylan". I requested, "Welcome Will and Rylan". When I asked the owner what happened to the word AND, I was told that they ran out of blue icing and NO I wasn't getting a refund! I was then told by the owner that whining still wouldn't get me a refund. This is your typical panaderia (Mexican bakery). As you enter, the aroma is wonderful, pick up a tray and some tongs and put your selections on that tray and then go to the cashier to pay. It's very small with no seating, so just take your bread home and enjoy. Variety is good and prices cheap. One piece of advice, when you get home, put the bread in a plastic baggy so it won't go stale as quick but you'll probably eat it way before then anyway. My wife & I have been fans of La Quinta Bakery for quite some time. But recently things have nit been the same. We loved their "lollipop ribs" and touted several of our friends. About 3 weeks ago, we had the ribs and they were over cooked and dried out. A few of my friends, on my recommendation ordered the ribs the same night and they were very disappointed.
