I loved the haircut I received, and the employees really make your first time at Chroma Salon a great experience! Chroma is an Aveda Salon (which immediately drew me in). I know I'll be going back for all my haircuts and spa treatments ---- 11/12/13 ---- EDIT: I'm going on my third year as a Chroma visitor, and I can't help but feel so happy that I ever happened to stumble upon the place. All of the staff members are always so warm and helpful while I am in the salon; I can't help but keep going back. On top of the wonderful customer service, I am always so impressed on how the stylists, like Michelle, are so receptive to how I want my hair cut or colored. It's fun to know that they've witnessed my 'look' and taste change over the years! Another HUGE asset to the Chroma team is Rebekah, the Esthetician. I am always so grateful for the days that she is working, because she does a FLAWLESS job on my eyebrows. Not to mention she is extremely charismatic, and will make you comfortable for your appointment in a matter of seconds! Ha. There's nothing worse than an awkward eyebrow wax.. -_- The ultimate reason Rebekah truly rocks is because she is not only talented and qualified at what she does, but she also cares a lot about her clients. I was having a lot of trouble with my acne and skin health this past summer, so she did a detailed analysis on my skin type and recommended me some Aveda products. I followed her instructions daily, so I could start recovering my skin. Although I was initially a skeptic, months later my skin is much healthier, has cleared up, and has a natural glow! Michelle has been my stylist for about 4 years, since she was 28. She's a perfectionist and always makes my hair look beautiful. Unfortunately, she got extremely sick, almost lost her life, and has not been to work since the end of Sept 2013. This is a long overdue review, but she really deserves a good review. I have been going to a different stylist temporarily who is only okay for me, but I feel like Michelle can read what I want like a book. I saw that someone wrote a bad review on her, and found it pretty upsetting. I'm still in contact with her, and that person didn't even have to pay, Michelle actually apologized multiple times at the register, and the review was exaggerated. She doesn't lie about those kinds of things, because she has better things to do. Also, the girl was really young, possibly a teenager. Her clientele is usually young professionals and older. I just wanted to stand up for her because she has been through a lot in life and only has a brother...no parents. She is a hard worker and doesn't do bad things to people...a very caring person and hard worker. I highly recommend her if you want to go to a perfectionist. She will be back to work PT soon, and I'm happy to hear that she's well enough to go back!! read more

I went in on my birthday for my first dye in 3+ years with a maintenance cut, told the stylist what I wanted, showed her a photo, and 4.5 hours later, I was done! Initially I liked it a lot, but a day later I noticed that it was streaky, the one thing I really, really didn't want it to be. I don't normally do things like this, but I emailed Chroma explaining that I was extremely unhappy with my color, I didn't know what to do, I felt stuck. In less than 10 minutes I received a phone call letting me know that they wanted me to be 100% happy with my hair, and to please book another appointment for them to make it right. I did so with one of the managers Monica (I think! I'm so bad with names), and I have NEVER been as happy with my hair as I am now. I've been dying my hair for 10 years and never felt so in love with my hair. Not only was the dye incredible, she was easy to chat with, let me know what was happening step-by-step and make me comfortable sitting in her chair. THANK YOU!! Brittany is a hair GENIUS! I came in with an emergency hair situation... my hair had blonde/ orange tiger strips (not pretty) from a bad dye job. I was in a panic because I was getting married in less than 2 months! I was in the verge of shaving my hair off and getting a wig! Needless to say Brittany was amazing. She sat with me and listened and we talked about my options and she even stayed super late to help me get back to normal. I just finished my second appt. with her to get my hair wedding ready (less than a week out!!) and I couldn't be happier! My hair is better than I ever hoped and I am so thankful I found someone who I can trust. My hair is better than it has ever looked all thanks to her! She is nothing less than a miracle worker. Oh sweet Jeebus. I have never been so happy with a salon experience in my life. I had been growing my hair for seven years with the specific intent of chopping it off and going platinum blonde. I finally scheduled my appt at The Beehive Salon in Tangletown and after a month of waiting (after my first consultation) THE SALON canceled on ME *three hours* before my appt. I. Was. DEVASTATED. Not willing to wait, I decided to bring my business elsewhere. I called Chroma and not only did they get me in for a consultation the same day.... Just found Chroma and loved my experience. Fantastic from my first call to the final result. First, the place is neat, clean, and organized, but not to sparse, with a calm vibe. Second, TARA WAS AWESOME!! She listened to my needs and delivered. I wanted only an inch off with face framing to accentuate the beautiful color she just finished, and, again, she delivered. Just so you know, she helped me change to a more updated and very flattering new color. Lastly, she introduced me to the owner and I saw first hand why this place is so great. Saturday was my first visit into Chroma and I was very impressed! I am thrilled to know that the only stylist who can manage my hair... Cerice, is now at such an awesome salon! Everything is awesome... the prices, products, service and atmosphere! I have hair that does not like a color change. Cerice has managed to do wonders for me. My hair always ends up looking natural and stays healhty when she is finished. Everytime I go see her, she knows exactly what I want while understanding my hair may not agree. Cerice knows best and I am so happy I have found my stylist match! Her eyebrow waxes are simply the best as well. Had a great experience at Chroma! My stylist was Tara, and she was very friendly and listened to what I wanted, then gave me a nice, relaxing head massage. She was very gentle (some stylists seem to forget there's a person on the other end of the hair), explained everything she was doing, and was very thorough--gave me a fabulous cut, blow dry, cut some more layers in, then styled my hair so it looked exactly like the magazine picture I brought in! She showed me the Aveda products she used but wasn't pushy about me buying any of them, and was very sweet and gracious throughout. I used a Groupon to try this place out, but it's definitely worth paying full price for such great service and results! read more

I had been needing a haircut for a long time, my hair was completely fried at the ends, and i was just walking around wallingford and noticed this new salon, so decided to walk in and just take a peek at the menu. Prices were good, and it is an aveda salon, they were close to closing time but one of the stylists could take a walk-in. My lucky day! My stylist was Cerice, and she is amazing. Really friendly, down to earth, feels like you're talking to a friend. Didnt judge me about my horrible hair. The cut was perfect, she took off the dead edges without really taking away much length, and added layers. The salon itself is really nice too, very neat and clean, smells really good. read more

I was really happy with my haircut and full foil done by Cerice! She did an awesome job, and she is particular, and wants you to be happy with the style you are looking for!!! I love my light hair,,, she put many foils in, more than I usually have.... and it looks great.!!! This is my first time here, and I've had my hair foiled for many years. Michelle has been doing my hair for 4 yrs now and she's very precise and very sweet. I met her when she was still in Beauty School. She ended up getting really sick and was hospitalized for 2 months. She got a bad review because she was so sick and wasn't able to think straight and regretted her decision for going to work, but she needed to pay rent because she has been supporting herself since she was 19 yrs old. Jenny was FABULOUS! She took the time to really listen to my needs and understand what type of cut would make me feel my best. And she made the entire experience very comfortable from start to finish. I am typically pretty shy, but I did not feel awkward for a second in her chair. I am in love with my new cut! Chroma Salon is a great spot to get your hair done. I scheduled an appointment to get a color correction, new dye, and fresh haircut. Everyone there was so nice! My stylist Mars did an absolutely fantastic job dealing with my damaged and difficult faded fashion hair color. It was a lengthy process, but they were so understanding, knowledgable, and fun. Mars did such a great job with everything, and I highly recommend booking with them especially for a color correction appointment. My husband helped them move in a couple of weeks ago and suggested I get my hair done here. The staff was super friendly and the owner looks JUST LIKE one of the Baldwin bros haha. Tara did my hair and she was amazing! The cut and the color is just what I wanted. She gave me a hand massage during the processing which was very pleasant. I have gone to the salon 3 times now for a facial. I have NOT been disappointed ! The gal, Rebekah is a REAL professional ! She has the softest touch, and really, The Best facial I have ever had. Most gals just run thru it with not much feeling, but you can tell she likes what she does ! I loved the facial, but she also does your arms, hands, feet and lower legs. Super cool salon! Decided to venture away from the typical barbershop for a new style. I wandered into Chroma in Wallingford. Chroma is really cool and trendy yet not intimidating. I had Tara as my stylist who did gave me an awesome haircut! I walked in wanting a change but not really sure what I was looking for. Tara gave me a few options of what she thought would look good. Great First Experience. I needed a quick haricut and didn't really know what to expect from this place. The staff was friendly and fun to chat with, and they were able to get me in in 20 Minutes. The haricut was great, Leslie ( haristylist) was amazing. Very friendly, accomodating, and easy to talk to. The straight razor and head massage were a big plus in my book. I was introduced to Shannon a couple of weeks ago and was impressed with her service and intuition! I have always had long hair and am nervous about letting strangers take scissors to it, but Shannon not only made sure I was getting exactly what I wanted and was comfortable with, but educated me on my type of hair and the best types of looks to go with in the future. Went to Chroma downtown at the Alexis Hotel for my birthday and had an amazing facial and eyebrow wax from Tysan, and a haircut from Matt. Tysan pampered me and made me feel and look beautiful, and Matt did an excellent job on my hair. The salon is conveniently located, you can walk to and from lots of fun shops and restaurants with ample parking or valet at the hotel. Everyone there was so nice and helpful without pushing products in your face. I had a great experience and will definitely go back! read more
