This review is LONG overdue. My mom came across R&R studio, more specifically the wonderful Sarah, a while back and insisted I checked it out myself. As long as Sarah is around, I will never go anywhere else! I have been to a few stylists over the years and they did a lovely job, however, they weren't quite what I was looking for. I find that Sarah really listens to what I love/want (all about the messy choppy layers!) and absolutely kills it every time. I've seen her other work online and it's obvious she can do it all. The cherry on top? I have an anxiety disorder and small talk in a salon chair isn't always the easiest/most comfortable for me but Sarah is a breath of fresh air. Shes both fun and so easy to talk to! I have no doubt every stylist at R&R is incredible. Everyone there has been nothing but friendly and welcoming. MICHELLE YOU ARE AMAZING!! Okay before this salon I have gone to two previous ones since moving to Seattle. Both wrecked my hair and left me in tears. I came out of the last salon with the most yellow hay looking hair. Like if horses saw my head they'd try to take a chunk outta it thinking it was food for them :( ANYWAYS so I was recommended by a friend to go to R&R and ask for Michelle. To be honest I was terrified to go to anyone who is not Asian after going to non Asian hair stylists the past two times. I'm so glad I gave this a try. I've found my new hair home :) So I came in with bright yellow hair and I told Michelle I was done trying to go lighter and that I just wanted to go darker. I showed her a pic and though it doesn't look that much like the picture, I'm still in love with the hair she did for me. I'm glad it's still a bit blonde so it's perfect for summer, just a little darker! Home girl got me in and out of the salon within 2 hours. I was estimating it would take like four hours. She was so quick! Next time I'll be asking to get my hair toned so it can be ashier but besides that I'm in love! Thank you so much, Michelle. Wow, a house guest home for a brief visit decided to try a new place to have a hair cut and color touch up before she went back to Japan. The hair cut and color looked great but we were kind of shocked at how cheap it was. House guest, native English speaker so no language issues, said she questioned the stylist about the price and was assured that it was correct. All good until the next day when the stylist called to ask for more money, she screwed up and substantially under charged her. So, please come back in and pay more. Kind of fine if you want to overlook asking a customer to make an additional trip to correct her mistake. She did offer a small, probably too small, a discount for the inconvenience. House guest is moving back and was looked for a new salon- this won't be it. read more

To preface, I get pretty severe anxiety over hair appointments to the point where I put it off... and put it off... and put it off... and that coupled with moving and leaving my old stylist behind meant that by the time I made my appointment with Michelle, my hair was in dire need of help and I was a nervous wreck. I have Asian hair and had been living with a grown out, orange balayage for 11 months before I saw Michelle. My first appointment with Michelle was to cut it from an overgrown A-line bob back into my preferred style of long layers. The cut was fantastic and exactly what I wanted. Michelle was so friendly, cheerful, and easy to talk to. With no hesitation I scheduled a full balayage appointment with Michelle to tackle the orange color. My second appointment was just as great as my first. Michelle patiently listened to what I wanted -- the ashiest brown hair possible. After we washed out the toner, Michelle immediately recognized that the color was not where we wanted it to be. She was so concerned that we hadn't reached the color I wanted, she offered to retone it again if I had the time. I did, so we did! I'm so appreciative she offered to take care of it right then and there despite her next appointment coming in soon. I honestly hate getting my haircut mainly because women's haircuts are always so expensive and I don't think they're worth it for trims. I tend to give myself trims as needed and have been cutting my own hair for 10 years after feeling displeased with a haircut around high school. The only time I'll seek out a professional is when I wanna chop my locks off. I recently moved to the neighborhood and after researching on Yelp the various different hairdressers in the Greenwood area, I bestowed myself here. I made an appointment with Michelle and she is extremely talented! My hair was below chest level prior to going and I left with an asymmetrical long bob. She is so quick and so precise, and made sure to always ask whether I was okay with the length or if I wanted it shorter. She valued my feedback and asked for it along the way rather than just doing what she wanted. The salon has independent hairdressers in a shared space so when you book an appointment, you choose which hairdresser you would like. The space is clean and the products they use are great! It is pricey, and with my history I probably wouldn't come here for just a trim but if I need another fabulous haircut I will definitely come back! My experience was well worth the price which leaves the only downside to be parking. It's right on Greenwood Ave so good luck finding residential parking. read more

Great at visioning and creating artful, elegant hair--queer hairdo friendly -- and a lovely human to boot), but never before at this studio until last week. It has great, cozy ambiance and everyone there was really kind. So especially appreciative of how graciously Caroline and staff supported me when I became unexpectedly ill in the studio. I recently broke up with my long term hairstylist and found great reviews for Caroline on yelp. I was not disappointed!!! She listened to what I was looking for, advised on my hair and what would work best, and did her magic. My hair is that kind that is kind of wavy, thickish, and a bit frizzy. I have been following Summer for haircuts for ten years now and I'm so glad she is back in Seattle! I have curly hair and have tried a lot of stylists over the years including a few specializing in curly cuts including Ouidad and Diva cuts, but Summer gives me a much better cut every time. I've gone from super short boyish cut to shoulder length curls. I'm always impressed with Summer's attention to detail. The cuts are beautiful, easy to maintain and hold their shape between cuts well. Thomasin was recommended to me by a friend a year or two ago and I've been going to her ever since. She does the best sugaring. I switched from waxing to sugaring a while ago - it's gentler on my skin and I think hurts much less. Summer assured me that she had Vidal Sasson training and knew how to do a precision haircut. My haircut looks like an old Buster Brown cut! Precision hair cuts are angled...this is not. Summer also said I should not have my hair cut to my cheekbone because my face will look puffed out, and then she cut my hair to my cheekbone. IF YOU WANT A PRECISION HAIR CUT DO NOT COME HERE. I have thick curly hair which has different curl structures ranging from 3B to 2C. I've had a hard time finding someone who can cut it whilst understanding the difference in my hair texture and not causing big gaps in layers due to the way my hair curls. Summer is incredible! After a series of bad balayages (the stylist I was previously going to did such a terrible job on the last round I couldn't get myself to go back), I knew I had to find someone new. Luckily I booked with Michelle who took my tired and stressed looking long locks to the next level! Her placement and color was amazing, better than I could have ever expected. Thomasin is a sugaring genius! Over the years I have referred about ten of my friends to her for Brazilian sugaring and other sugaring needs and all come back with raving reviews as well. Location: At this Greenwood location it is always easy to find street parking no more than a block a way. The salon is adorably decorated and homey by their new owners, clean, and welcoming! First timers - Afraid of sugaring or waxing? Or an old time pro? Thomasin in the most precise and professional. I call her the sugaring goddess because as someone who is not good with pain "down there" she makes it seem painless!! Overall, I couldn't give more of a raving review for Thomasin.
