I have been in a stylist rut for a little over a year, switching from salon to salon in search of that monogamous client-stylist relationship. I just had my first experience at Tousle - a "blind date," as I had not heard anything about the salon or the stylist - and I think that I may be ready to go steady. My stylist was Kat Cipra and she is terrific. I came in with the intention of just doing an all-over color in my natural shade, as I have a few errant gray hairs that piss me off daily, and I am reluctant to go to more than first base (cut or basic color) on a first date. However, after consulting with Kat for a few minutes, talking over my concerns of excessive, obvious highlights and other deep matters, it became clear that she wasn't going to go any farther than I wanted. That confidence in her was not misplaced, as I received the best color service I have ever had in Seattle. Subtle, natural highlights atop dark brown hair. It was exactly what I wanted, even though I am not particularly good at articulating what I want (am much better at describing what I don't want). Kat's prices are remarkably affordable and her chairside manner is friendly and engaging. The salon seems freshly opened, and as we were the only people there and actively engaged in conversation, I don't have much of a read on the salon's atmosphere. I recently had my first experience with Tousle Salon. LOVED IT! And I have no doubt you will too! First impressions are important to me, and I was so pleased when I walked in. The salon is perfect sized, open, hip, beautiful, relaxed and clean. I was greeted immediately in a friendly manner, which is also important to me. I don't just want my stylist to be friendly, I want to feel comfortable and "wanted" by all who work there. I like a team atmosphere and that's how Tousle came across to me. My stylist was Kim Van Tassel, the owner of the salon, and she was great! She gave me a consult and I never felt pressured like I had to decide immediately what I wanted or like I should have known exactly what I wanted when I came in. She helped me decide what we should do by going over options with me. She was friendly but professional, and what I wanted seemed important to her. That made me feel great! I got the feeling that Kim & the rest of the staff were proud of their salon, and that pleasing their clientele was important to them. And my hair? Wow! Both the cut & color are amazing! Price was reasonable and for a great experience, I felt my money was very well spent. I recently started going to Tousle because my hairstylist, Molly Mitchell, moved there. First of all, I will follow Molly anywhere - she is amazing! Luckily, Tousle is in a great location and is a lovely salon. It has a nice atmosphere, is a pretty shade of red inside, and has a good selection of magazines, which is always a nice perk. Plus, there are yummy Hansen's natural sodas. I am so glad a friend of mine recommended Molly - I have had some okay stylists, but I was looking for someone that would be able to cut my short, curly hair in a cool style and have it grow out nicely. I decided to try Molly even though her prices were a bit more than I would usually spend on a haircut. After my first cut, I didn't have to go in again for 8 weeks, which is longer than I can normally go between cuts. My hair grew out so great that I knew Molly was well worth the money. She also colors my hair and I am so happy with the results. Molly listens to my needs but also makes suggestions based on what will work with my hair. She also gives an awesome hand massage if you have to sit under the heat lamp! If you are looking for some hair inspiration, give Molly a call! I am just here to give a shout out to one of the most AMAZING hairstylist to ever touch my hair, Molly Jo Mitchell at Tousle!!! Molly has been cutting my hair now for over 5 years and I can't say that I have ever had a haircut that didn't make me feel like a winner. I am a woman with super short hair and no matter the occasion, being forced to wear a dress for my best friends wedding,my college graduation, or a first date with the woman of my dreams, Molly always seems to make me feel the most beautiful!!. I am super picky about the fade, I have what most people like to call a "faux hawk", and it looks perfect every time. The salon is super cute and has a very welcoming atmosphere! I don't often do color treatments or anything besides a cut, but if I ever did, I complete trust my hair to Molly! If you are looking for someone who really listens to what you want, is a total rockstar with her scissors and will probably end up being your hairstylist for years to come, then Molly is the perfect fit for you. Wallingford is in luck. The neighborhood's new salon is not only gorgeous but is filled with extremely talented stylists. Kim the owner has been doing my hair for years now. Her 10+ years of experience combined with her commitment to excellence mean that I walk out of her salon looking amazing every time. Her coloring skills are some of the finest I have ever seen. The color is always rich and just right for the person's overall coloring. Basically this girl knows her stuff when it comes to hair and I feel like my hair is in good hands whenever she is styling it. Watching the work of the other ladies in the salon I have seen a level of talent that is hard to find. Basically if you are looking for that stylist that you can go back to over and over again and know that you will always leave with your hair looking amazing then Kim and the other ladies at Tousle are for you! I am extremely picky about my hair (some might even call me a high maintenance client considering the fact that I go back and forth from blond to brunette about every 6 months) and Kim always keeps me looking great! I love Tousle! I'm giving it five stars for always meeting my expectations and for having really experienced, talented stylists. Ambiance: the salon is really lovely; it has a warm and inviting atmosphere. Everthing is very nicely done, but not in a stuffy manner or intimidating. The staff members are helpful and friendly. Stylists: I've seen both Kim and Zan, and they were both very good. Each one of them listened carefully to my requests and were able to accomplish what I wanted with no problems. I have been seeing Kim for cut and color for a while now. She almost always gets it right. I only say "almost" because once my foil didn't turn out the way we hoped it would. However, Kim quickly found time in her busy schedule to fix my color at no charge. Kim always makes me feel comfortable when we talk about my hair; she genuinely wants me to feel great every time I walk out the door. I regularly get compliments from people about my hair and I have sent many friends and family members to Tousle with great results! After years of being weighed down by my long, very curly hair, I was shopping around for someone I could trust to give me a short, cute cut that wouldn't make me look like a dirty Q-Tip with ears. I ran across Tousle and looked up their website, and found they had a curly hair specialist with 17 years of experience, so I crossed my fingers and set an appointment with Kristin Henkes. I had a little chat with her about what I wanted (i.e. A whole lot of "oh, and don't do this..." and "but can you do this other thing?" spread out over the initial seating, the shampoo, and the trip back to the chair), and it turns out she's a genius with my hair, and I adore the cut I got. Kristin is definitely the lady to see for your curly hair! **Also and FYI on the pricing... In the past, I've always gone to the $15 places in the mall, so I wasn't actually used to going somewhere where the individual stylists set their own prices... Tousle's prices for women's cuts range from $45 to $75, and Kristin's price is $45 as of the writing of this review. read more

Molly Mitchell is a fabulous hairstylist. I followed her to Tousle earlier this year (found her through a friend at a downtown salon in 2008), and have not been disappointed with the new place. Tousle is a beautiful, clean environment to match Molly's professional demeanor. Molly is rare in that she not only knows a lot about hair and the science of caring for it, but she LISTENS to her clients. This has always been the number one quality I had trouble finding in a stylist. I am not looking any further than Molly! Molly only uses organic products; I'm not sure about the other stylists at Tousle. She runs her own independent business, but shares the space with other stylists. The client restroom/changing room is spacious and clean; Hansen's soda is a refreshment choice while you're having your hair done. There's a parking lot that Tousle shares with the adjacent businesses, which is very convenient. I cannot recommend Molly Mitchell highly enough. read more

Another shout out for Molly Jo Mitchell at Tousle. I've been following Molly around for a few years now, and she's just recently landed in Wallingford. The salon is stylish and sleek and has nifty adjustable sinks and a nice selection of refreshments for the clients' enjoyment. Molly, meanwhile, is a fantastic stylist. Being a lazy cheapskate, I pretty much only go to her for haircuts, and I pretty much never buy or use product, but she never fails to give me an amazing cut. Nine times out of ten, I get a cut that I don't even have to blow out for it to look amazing, and I get compliments on my hair constantly. Disclaimer: Your results may vary. Admittedly I have silky, supple hair that needs virtually no maintenance beyond daily washing. Envy me! *cough* And beyond being a hair-styling dynamo, Molly's a cool lady who never fails to keep clients, or at least one client (me), entertained throughout the appointment. read more

I had heard that Tousle Salon is now offering the latest & greatest in hair relaxing (Keratin Smoothing Complex) so I made it a point of booking an appt with Jill, as I heard she was quite the pro with this. Well it's true, she is amazing. I finally found someone who really understands my hair. Can't thank you enough Jill for transforming my dull, curly, frizzy hair into a new sleek, straight, and now, very healthy style that actually moves! Never thought I'd say "what frizz?" but now weeks later I'm still saying it. My styling time has been cut in half and I'm stoked! I love the friendly, cool vibe this salon offers, and thankfully it does not have that intimidating feeling I've had in other salons of this caliber. Seattle's BEST hair- Kat Cipra at Tousle! I have never been so compelled to write a review, so here it goes! Tousle is a brand new salon in Wallingford, close enough to my work at the University, yet not in the hussle and bussle of the Ave. I work for Seattle Children's, and a friend of mine recommended a stylist that has moved up here from Portland. She is the BEST COLORIST I have ever been to, and I have been getting foils, baylage you name it since I was 16. Her name is Kat Cipra and she is at Tousle. Her smile lights up the room, but her true skill is her coloring. The ambience was warm and inviting, but truly what sealed the deal is her expertise in color. All I have to say is wow, and now you have a forever client. This was hands down the best highlight in Seattle. read more

I have walked by this new salon and have always found the place inviting and the staff very friendly. I had my color done in a salon nearby and was unhappy and didnt want to go back to have it fixed. After reading the reviews I booked an appointment with Kim Van Tassel to have my color done. She had many options to fix the color and keep my hair in it's healthiest state at the same time. The color turned out the way I wanted it the first time and my hair felt even better than when I walked in!!! She uses Davines color and products and Moroccan Oil. The staff was very warm and friendly and the salon was clean, hip and very relaxing. Hello! I have been a steady client of Kim Van Tassel's for 12+ years now and I have followed her from salon to salon until she opened Tousle this past year. Kim's skill set is second to none and that becomes quickly apparent once you've had your hair done by her. Her years of training have made her a top hair stylist in Seattle and she is a certified colorist as well. On a personal note, Kim is very friendly, fun, easy going and it is always a treat to get to go get my hair done by her. Tousle is in a great location with free on site parking. Most stylists I have gone to in the past seem to fake their conversion with you - with Kim it was a natural fit. She listened to how I wear my hair and then suggested something and together we came up with the perfect style just for me. I've been looking for a new salon for a year. All the ones I've been in just didn't suit me. However, after reading the reviews for Tousle I drove by the salon and was very impressed. Everyone had a smile on their face and seemed to be enjoying themselves. I'm going to call today to make an appointment for a consultation. I think I've found a new home for my hair care. I am SO EXCITED that Olivia D. Marcellay is joining Tousle--such a great location (I live in Ballard). Last October I was privy to the best haircut of my life! I have had long hair forever and being a low maintenance gal have been hard pressed to find a stylist who understands that I Do Not own a hairdryer nor do I ever want to. Olivia understands I have thick hair--lots of it, wavy most days, curlier depending on the weather. She cut in layers that took the weight off, gave me style, and really is a "wash and wear" cut. Tousle Salon is very lucky indeed to have her on staff! I have been seeing Jill for three years and plan to see her for as long as I can! I always love my hair cuts and have been receiving the keratin treatment for the past two years. the keratin is amazing! i get right out of the shower and can allow my hair to dry naturally and it is smooth and frizz free! As a natural blond my entire life, on a whim a few months ago I decided to buy a color box kit to dye my hair brown. The next day I called Jill as an emergency and she returned my hair back to its natural color and I was shocked to see what a wonderful job she did at saving my hair. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED read more
