Ugh, I came here because it was getting too haute outside...I initially went to Shake Shack on M St, across from my office but doors were closed. Realized now after google search SS moved to the other side of the Nats stadium, ugh, and no one bothered to tell me. This company has changed a lot in the past 10-15 years. They used to have healthy portions and focuses on quality salad ingredients. They have changed to a more inclusive menu of a lot of things. Now I don't feel like the quality is there. Employees were very bland and didn't seem to want to be there. Grab and go kinda place, no real seating. I placed a delivery order. This was my first time having Chopt. Being as though all they do is salad and I looooove a good Cobb salad. My expectations were high. The salad is nice in size. The price is good for the amount you get. Delivery service was fine. What I didn't like was the fact my salad had avocado inside! I hate avocado and it didn't specify this item was in the salad when I was ordering online. Edit: I knocked this down a star. The DM from the company mentioned the layers of management that would be looking into why their high quality standards weren't upheld. MONEY. IT'S MONEY. People don't come to work at a fast casual salad restaurant for the love of salad. They work there because it's easy or convenient or they couldn't find better work. Pay them more money and watch your quality standards get upheld every time because no one wants to lose a good paying job over a few apple slices. Like I said in my DM response: do better. Is this a joke? I ordered a Sweet Apple Orchard Salad. What I got was a bowl of 95% lettuce, 0% apples, a pinch of cheese and about half filled shot glass container of dressing. This came at the price of $13. I am also a sucker for paying $3 for a single chocolate chip cookie. Silly me. I thought I'd get a decent sized cookie. Nope. What really upsets me is that I was charged a $2.41 service fee for this on top of the tip I left and a delivery fee. Hey, Chopt. I come here once a week or at LEAST 4-5 times a month on average and they are always consistent. I might add that all of my orders are in person and the only time my order isn't perfect is when I send someone else to pick up or place my order so there's that. The customer service is always welcoming and the food is consistently fresh. I really can't tell the difference in the quality between this and other CHOPTs. The ONLYYYYYY thing I don't like about this location is that their water/drink fountain has been broke for MONTHS if not the last 2 years or at least for me. I asked the lady if I could have "warm chicken", she said yes!! Chopt is a good choice for fast salad, but sometimes it's not fast enough. I think the staff here struggles because they don't have enough people to handle the orders. The volume of customers is lighter, so that may be why. Still, if you're near Nats Park, this is a good salad choice with menu items that are seasonal and classic, as well as make your own bowls for a decent price. They mark if items are vegan. The dressings are alright, but the Mexican Goddess is the best and makes it all worth it. There is not as much seating as one might think for this location, but you can still find a seat if you come at the right time. Also, I felt the items here are not kept as tidy in their independent containers on the bar. It looks it, but also, this untidy nature unfolded as true when some vegetable items I didn't order showed up in my salad. For those with serious allergies, definitely avoid this place. However, today I had an appointment within one block of Chopt so I decided to give it a try. I'd like to note that this location was clean and the bathroom was in great shape. I've been to a couple other Chopt locations, but this one is my favorite by far! The location is relatively new, had enough seating, looks nice inside, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. When they stopped carrying my favorite dressing, the staff made a suggestion based on what they thought I would like that would still have a bit of a kick, while blending nicely with the salad. I've been happy all of the salads I've had here, but my go-to is the Mediterranean Falafel. The blend of veggies, falafel, and cheese with their spicy tahini dressing provides a flavorful lunch or dinner. The celery in the salad as a more in depth flavor, which I appreciate - and I don't usually like celery. The modern look and design make me feel comfortable and add to the welcoming and clean feel! I wasn't overly impressed here...I really wanted a salad before the Nationals game and this place is right outside the park. It was clean, the staff friendly, I viewed the menu scurried to the restroom and then made my order. The menu isn't self explanatory in my opinion. They have several salad/wrap choices but they don't make it evident that you can add to those. I ordered the Palm Beach w/shrimp ($12), usually comes with chicken and a hot spicy vinaigrette but opted for the traditional crispy or ceasar. If I had known I could add to things, I'd have added croutons for a little crunch. Took out the tomatoes (although they were delicious) and maybe changed the cheese. The avocado was creamy and the cucumbers were crispy. Clearly fresh ingredients just not clear ordering instructions. The creamy caesar dressing wasn't anything to write home about. As I said my total was about $12 and that's rounding to the nearest dollar. I sat at the bartop in the window and watched the patrons go by. I give it three stars because the menu was unclear and the service was slow but only because of the efficiency they provide but for someone in a hurry, you may want to call your order in. This place needs to sell franchises because I would love to open one up in Tennessee. They have a small menu but it is loaded with flavor. We recently traveled to D.C. and they were right next door to our hotel. I am on a diet and their fall salads were on my plan. Understaffed, poorly managed, poorly stocked, tired "fresh" under stocked, sometimes nasty-looking ingredients, and really usually quite filthy. If you time it right, you might luck out and end up with an OK meal, but as a regular I've become ill after several meals here. You would have thought I would have learned my lesson, but carbs are the enemy and salads are our miserable friends . . . The interior is bright and clean. I ordered the Mexican chicken soup-which was to DIE for-full of tomatillo and just the right amount of heat. Should have ordered a bowl.
