Rotten apple that I bit into.

WARNING: SPOILED FOOD Im a provider who works at the hospital and today I bit into this rotten apple. When I alerted the staff, they offered me another apple. Certainly I don't want that when it's likely that they're all from the same shipment. You think they'd at least offer an apology - no. Terrible customer service and extremely concerning that they don't bat an eye at having served food like this.

This location is inside Washington Hospital Center. Extra tables have been placed outside the restaurant to allow safe distancing. Most customers order online and pickup their items. The employees were cleaning tables frequently. The Mediterranean bowls are awesome. I had the whole grain with avocado. The yogurt and tahini added flavor to the dish. You get a choice of fruit or bread as a side. This is a great location to pass out. There are nurses and doctors everywhere.

    Chipotle Bacon Pizza

Located inside Medstar Washington Hospital Center, this tiny store is open 24 hours and serves everything from pizzas to bagels. As a employee of the hospital I frequent the place and have sampled some of the offerings. My favorite thing to order is the Chipotle Chicken Bacon Pizza the sauce the drizzle on it really goes well with pizza and the pizza itself is slightly crispy but chewy. My major grip with this place is that everything is majorly overpriced especially the sandwiches which are $10 for a "whole" sandwich which comes with a tiny amount of meat. Some of the things I like are the bagels and the pizza Some of the things I dislike are the sandwiches

I come to WHC for most of my doctor appointments and stumbled upon this (new to me) Panera!! This is an amazing use of the old space (formerly Blimpie-yuck) as it's fresh and clean! I ordered a power kale salad with chicken on the tablets they have as soon as you enter the store. As I waited for my salad, a very friendly and professional Lady came over to ask if I needed help. I told her I was waiting for my salad, so she then explained the process to me. I loved it! This lady, Michelle, was so sweet and helpful! She asked my name and we chatted it up for a bit. I inquired about a green smoothie that I saw waiting for pickup and she told me it was the Green Passion smoothie and that it was very popular. I was intrigued! She told me the contents and then walked me over to the literature that Panera provides for each food item they sell. After reading the ingredients in the green smoothie, I decided to order one! YUMMY!!!!

    Pick 2: customized Greek Salad

I've eaten the food from this location twice now: Today I placed an online order for rapid pickup of: Pick 2: cup of corn chowder soup (meh 2/5 stars) and a customized Greek salad. For the salad I requested adding spinach, cucumbers, and croutons. I paid the 49 cents to get a hard boiled egg and only received half of one. The salad had no romaine lettuce and no cucumbers! Since my mom is currently staying at the hospital, I'm going to take the salad back and ask for it to be made correctly. (They remade it no questions asked: that's what increased my rating from 2 to 4 stars) Last night my brother and I ordered 2 bowls of chicken and wild rice soup. The bowls were not filled all of the way to the top and the bread was partially stale. Overall, Panera food tastes better than the hospital food and I would eat here again.

I didn't want to eat at the hotel, so I checked my Yelp app and saw that there is a sandwich spot nearby. I decided to walk a few blocks and try it out. I was glad I did! It's a very unassuming place where you can sit down and have a lunch or dinner or you can get it to go. I decided to get mine to go. I was greeted by friendly cashier. She asked if it was my first time there and I said yes. She explained how the ordering process works and explained a little about each sandwich. I decided to try the RBG, which was $18. I believe all sandwiches are $18. I was a little surprised by the price, but I wanted to try it. The RBG is delicious pork sandwich with coleslaw and a soft, yet crunchy bread. Don't get me wrong. I am not a crunchy bread sandwich type of girly. But this bread was just right for this sandwich. I had the ability to eat the entire sandwich with the bread not becoming too soggy and falling apart. The pork was tender and flavorful, the slaw was crunchy and tart. It was a wonderful combination. The only negative thing that I have to say is that it is a really large sandwich! So, make sure you bring a friend to eat the other half...so you won't be tempted to eat it all like I did!

Simple and straightforward ordering process, just remember what you ordered because they don't take names. I go between the Crunchy Boi and the Marisa Tomei Eats Free, which are both great. The Crunchy Boi is probably their most popular sandwich and it's lighter than you would think considering it's filled with potato chips. I think it's worth trying once. The Marisa Tomei, on the other hand, has never failed me. It's balanced with an absurd amount of arugula against the meat, and it's never dry. The portions are generous, like you could definitely split it into two meals, but they're not so heavy that you couldn't finish a sandwich in one sitting.

They operate a deli counter in the front and a bar / speakeasy in the back. You can rent out the bar space for private events. Last night, we had the space (and a bartender!) to ourselves, along with 3-4 different types of sandwiches. There is something SPECIAL about their seeded Italian bread. The perfect flakiness and texture. I enjoyed the chicken fontina and Italian. The caprese was my least favorite--not sure if they use a balsamic or what, but the flavor wasn't coming through. Before I left, I decided to order a large chicken cheesesteak to take home for lunch the next day. It was a bit of a risk to order a hot sandwich that I would have in the fridge overnight but I heated it up in our air fryer/toaster oven for all of 10 mins and the bread was good (not soggy) and the sandwich itself was delicious. I enjoyed it so much, I didn't stop to take a photo until the last bite :) It's a decent size sandwich--I ate half for lunch (along with my own chips and veggies) and have another half for tomorrow so while it's not cheap, I think it's reasonable.

The sandwich was stuffed with fried eggplant, grilled zucchini, stracciatella, tomato, arugula and roasted red pepper spread. The Parmigiano sandwich with eggplant was more like a Caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella cheese, greens, tomato, and crispy thinly sliced eggplant stuffed between scrumptious moist Focaccia bread. This isn't a traditional sloppy Joe's Eggplant Parm sandwich (there's no marinara sauce!)
