Located in the hospital, by the Cancer Institute. Staff seemed pretty nice. I got the YouPick2 (Tuna Sandwich & Macaroni). I've never had a Tuna Sandwich from Panera, and I decided to get it. I don't want to start with the cashier , she ask can she help me and saw some white people on the side of me left me standing there . Then helped at least 2 people before I said excuse me can u help me she come back and the other cashier is rubbing her back like she need consoling ... then I wait 30 mins get my food , and it's no cheese on it when it day in my receipt turkey and cheese ....Take it bk to get cheese , they remake it , then I go sit back down and it no mayo or nothing so I have to eat it dry ... So happy WHC has this great option of food inside its hospital center. Depending on the time you visit there could be a bit of a wait. I advise ordering from the app if you can. This location is inside Washington Hospital Center. Extra tables have been placed outside the restaurant to allow safe distancing. Most customers order online and pickup their items. The employees were cleaning tables frequently. The Mediterranean bowls are awesome. I had the whole grain with avocado. The yogurt and tahini added flavor to the dish. You get a choice of fruit or bread as a side. This is a great location to pass out. There are nurses and doctors everywhere. read more

It gets extremely busy during prime breakfast and lunch periods. I would recommend to download the panera app and to order ahead! This particular Panera Bread is located inside Med-Star Washington Hospital, in North West Washington, DC. Since my family and I have been posted up at this hospital all week, we've become regulars at this location. I was already a fan of Panera, but this particular location made me a "super fan." When you're cooped up in a hospital for extended periods of time - day after day and trying to get a slice of "normal" back into your routine, going to this Panera just seemed like the obvious choice. Nothing like taking a break from a hospital room and going to get a comforting bowl of hot soup and sandwich, or a sweet treat for a quick pick-me-up. We had the pleasure of being assisted by Crystal, who was extremely nice and helpful. When a loved one is in the hospital and you're already emotionally drained, its a Blessing to engage in someone who instantly cheers you up with their positive demeanor and helpful nature. Thanks Crystal! This Panera Bread has 6 or so, quick order machines available for patrons to order their food, dine in options inside the restaurant and a few tables directly outside the restaurant, stays open until midnight, helpful staff and free WiFi. The food was delicious, as per usual and since we literally ate here almost everyday we were here, we're pretty much experts on the matter. Located inside Medstar Washington Hospital Center, this tiny store is open 24 hours and serves everything from pizzas to bagels. As a employee of the hospital I frequent the place and have sampled some of the offerings. My favorite thing to order is the Chipotle Chicken Bacon Pizza the sauce the drizzle on it really goes well with pizza and the pizza itself is slightly crispy but chewy. My major grip with this place is that everything is majorly overpriced especially the sandwiches which are $10 for a "whole" sandwich which comes with a tiny amount of meat. I come to WHC for most of my doctor appointments and stumbled upon this (new to me) Panera!! This is an amazing use of the old space (formerly Blimpie-yuck) as it's fresh and clean! I ordered a power kale salad with chicken on the tablets they have as soon as you enter the store. As I waited for my salad, a very friendly and professional Lady came over to ask if I needed help. I told her I was waiting for my salad, so she then explained the process to me. I loved it! This lady, Michelle, was so sweet and helpful! She asked my name and we chatted it up for a bit. I inquired about a green smoothie that I saw waiting for pickup and she told me it was the Green Passion smoothie and that it was very popular. I was intrigued! She told me the contents and then walked me over to the literature that Panera provides for each food item they sell. After reading the ingredients in the green smoothie, I decided to order one! I've eaten the food from this location twice now: Today I placed an online order for rapid pickup of: Pick 2: cup of corn chowder soup (meh 2/5 stars) and a customized Greek salad. For the salad I requested adding spinach, cucumbers, and croutons. I paid the 49 cents to get a hard boiled egg and only received half of one. The salad had no romaine lettuce and no cucumbers! Since my mom is currently staying at the hospital, I'm going to take the salad back and ask for it to be made correctly. (They remade it no questions asked: that's what increased my rating from 2 to 4 stars) Last night my brother and I ordered 2 bowls of chicken and wild rice soup. Yum yum yum This location is at the Washington Hospital Center so there are certain times that it can be incredibly busy but the line moves quickly I love their Fuji Apple salad with chicken and their squash soup is a true treat. They add pumpkin seeds to it. All the cashiers are very efficient and courteous. The manager is a riot for one time to keep everyone's spirit alive she started dancing and possibly twerking. I wasn't too sure that she was twerking but she was mighty flexible. If you come to the hospital for a doctor's appointment swing over to Panera and have lunch or whatever meal you need for the day It is a must go for me. Kind of disappointing experience. Tried to order from app but the free WiFi at this hospital doesn't work. Tried to order from kiosk but it wouldn't let us finish the order saying there were items we selected that were no longer available. Why have them on the menu then? In the end we didn't know what items it was referring to so we cancelled it and got in line (the old fashioned way!). I ordered a bagel toasted with butter and cream cheese. I don't know if all Panera's do this but when I got back to the surgery waiting room and looked in the bag everything was separate. I thought I'd have nice melted butter on my bagel. No ... it's cold and I have to do it myself. I don't have a table and this bagel has a lot of seeds and crumbs. This is your usual Panera Bread. I haven't had any real problems except they usually run out of summer corn chowder which can be disappointing but the staff was prompt on calling me to have choose another item on the menu. Fair warning this place can get super busy. It is ran inside Washington Hospital Center and hospital staff, patients, and their families will eat here for lunch. So order pick up is the most convenient and smartest thing you can do for yourself if you want to save yourself the headache of waiting in line. I am specific with my order about what I want added on and taken off, and even though it becomes packed, this Panera still gets my order right so I have no complaints. Seating can be a little tight too with all the families and so many people walking in and out, I prefer to eat outside in the hospital courtyard! read more

Whenever I have an appointment at Washington Hospital Center, I always stop at Panera Bread no matter what. This Saturday was no different. I couldn't wait until my appointment was over so I could grab some soup and my favorite cookie and get back under my covers. I am a fan of panera bread - it offers a wide variety of tasty and healthy-feeling sandwiches, soups, and salads. So, if you're also a fan, you'll love this panera bread. I was impressed by its organization. 1) it's open late. To all you hospital workers, this is great. I'd come off a late shift and be able to pick up some food for my drive home. 2) You can order through an computer system if you'd prefer. 3) There is a pick up order screen that gives you an idea of how many orders are ahead of you. sorry but i really hate this place. it replaced the quiznos which used to be here, which btw, also sucked i got a turkey panini, it was creamy and i felt a bit quesy after eating it, so something was not agreeing with me. i also got chicken vegetable soup which was fine the other deterrent is the one who shall be referred by as ghetto-counter-beyotch. she pretty much polices that stretch of counter where you would normally pick up your food and shoo-shoos you away if you even breathe the same air as she. i happen to love the WHC cafeteria, so the next time i grab lunch with my pal, i will insist on going there instead. i have been around all the hospitals in the DMV so i know hospital cafeterias. In general, I've not liked Paneras because pastries are dry and I think they're just okay. However, since I have been working at the VA, I make regular trips to this Panera across the street. I order online and they have the food promptly ready after my brief walk. The orders are always right, and the food is hot when I order hot food which is huge. I did have one dessert/pastry here and it was great. The only problem is seating is quite difficult during the lunch hour. You can head to the cafeteria downstairs, but it's a bit of a walk. In warmer weather it's fine because you can eat outside, but brrr winter chill! read more

Panera Bread Egg/White & Avocado Sandwich was messy and greasy. The bagel was soaked with grease and slippery to hold. I could barely see the avocado. Tomatoes and lettuce was wilted and soggy as well. I will never eat here again. The worst breakfast ever. In addition, a hospital employee complained about This Panera Bread prices increasing weekly. It's a little Panera in a busy hospital and it is exactly what you'd expect. Not the same quality or consistency as a free standing, full Panera-- but leagues above other options at WHC. The mobile ordering is an added bonus, as is the fact it's open until midnight, giving us night shifters another option and more coffee. read more

This Panera is the only thing really around the hospital, which is in the middle of nowhere and a good 15 min walk from the restaurants on Georgia Ave. As a chain it should be reviewed on it's external factors, not its food, which is, you know, Panera food. As for the external factors, even though it's in the hospital, it's so hard to get to, you might as well go the 15 min up to Georgia Ave... I think a good Panera in a hospital would be able to give you the sense you weren't in the hospital but enjoying a coffee and bagel at your leisure. Instead, if I were to imagine a concession stand in the middle of an ER, I would imagine this Panera. We had my daughter at medstar midwives and over the 2.5 days we spent in the hospital probably ate at the panera five times. My wife and I were so grateful to have a real food alternative to hospital food! It's pretty much as good as any other panera you would find in the outer world. Friendly service and delicious food. This location is overall doing pretty good, except their policy of wasting tons of plastic everyday because they don't provide any dine-in cups or glasses even for cold drinks. The associates are friendly. around here it's either Panera or the cafeteria and my choice when I'm not packing lunch is always Panera. Yes it's pricey but so is the cafeteria here, Panera has healthier choices if that's what you are looking for (of coarse not the pastries). I ordered Frontega chicken Panini (full), and two small cups of coffee for carryout. Two small cups of coffee was not mine. It was for my two other colleagues. I had to walk in the cold across the street to and from their store/Panera Bread. I delivered two small cup of coffee to my colleagues and settled down to eat my dinner. when I open the brown bag where my full Frontega Chicken panin sits, I found only chicken and bread. Nothing on it. No tomatoes slice, no onion, no cheese, no mayonnaise and no sour cream. I had to comeback in the freezing cold from across street to ask for what was missing. The manager on duty did not apology for it. He states, "You drink two coffees, and we will refund you for the sandwich." I was speechless. I did not say anything as if nothing has happened. My mom's been at WHC for over a week. I come here because of the healthy options. The food in the WHC cafeteria is so bad for you and tastes bad. Anyway, today I'm wearing a boot due to a leg injury. I sat down to wait for my food only to have Abraham, the manager, deliver it to me so I didn't have to walk back. He wasn't looking for any kudos. But I watch him and he tries to make everyone smile and laugh. It makes a difference. Everyone I encounter when I come is friendly and helpful. Another standout is Flor. The choices may not be the widest but the people are nice and it's open until 12 am. read more

What a surprise and a great addition to visit a Panera Bread in the Washington Hospital Center. It was very busy during lunch time!! My 1/2 C. salad & turkey sandwich was filling, yet I was disappointed that my chocolate chip cookie was hard and crunchy, rather than soft and moist.
