My first visit to this location was a Yelp event more than ten years ago. A lot has changed since then in the neighborhood, and I've been around the world and back, but the reasons to come to Sweetgreen are no different. You can make a salad at home, but assuming you don't have the time and effort to constantly stock up on high quality fresh ingredients, it's great that this option is here. Their menu has expanded a bit to include some less salad-ish bowls and a wider protein selection but remains seasonal and local and suitable for most dietary needs. The leaves in my bowl tasted fresh, and I got a sweet and savory flavor combination for my custom salad that took a bit to get used to but worked splendidly. Typical sweetgreen experience. They were very patient as I went through all of the items I wanted on my salad. The employee accommodated my request for lots of dressing. He did get a little bit flustered and forget a couple standard toppings on my kale Caesar salad when I added additional toppings, but I get it. Not a big deal. Overall, everything was very fresh, except for the tomatoes, which were not good quality at all. They tasted terrible and they were a little mealie. Overall, I would come back. The only complaint I have is that the music site was super loud. I'm not even a sound sensitive person, but the music inside was unnecessarily loud. First time visiting Sweetgreen and I'm very happy with my order. I ordered a new dish, Cucumber Kimchi Crunch Salad. Since it is vegan as it I did not need to modify it to make it vegan. However, I did decide to replace the spicy broccoli with tofu as I figured the dish already has enough spice and didn't want to make it overly spicy (I can only take so much lol). The salad overall is a 5/5. It was delicious. I'm glad I added the tofu as the roasted sweet potatoes were kind of thinly cut. Yet, the cucumbers, tofu, crispy onions, and cabbage made up for it. My normal salad spot is "Chopt'T" and I thought I was never leaving them alone... until I tried sweet greens!!! I don't know where I been all this time!, but I'm so happy to have found sweet greens. Pros: The flavor profile is delicious!!! You can't go wrong with anything in the menu! They have a lot of healthy options. I am amazed with the flavor profile of this place!! So yummy, so good!! I ordered thru the app and found its way easier to just pick up and go. Cons: It can be pretty crowded during rush hours. I suggest use any the app if your in a rush. This salad is one of their vegan options, if you use to eat meat before becoming vegan, their sautéed mushrooms taste and feel like if it were steak! Glad it's not but you get my drift. This salad has some spice to it and loving it. The Shroomami Salad is filled with greens, tofu, cucumber, beets, rice and a variety of mushrooms. I love this sweetgreen location! It's right next to my gym, so I seem to get sucked in when looking for post workout fuel. For the most part, it's a pretty laid back location when there isn't a Nat's game, and the food is always plentiful and fresh. I've never had to wait in line and the folks that work here are always so nice. Sometimes, when I'm leaving I think about my $16 salad though and contemplate what I really did. There is a Harris Teeter just a few doors down and I live within steps of a grocery store myself. But sometimes, you gotta just have someone else assemble your lettuce to save you the time you'd spend on chopping board chronicles. Plus, they have an app. When you go here, you know what you are getting. The staff here is always on point and efficient. Be clear in what you want for your order, and it couldn't be faster. There is seating inside or outside, depending on if you prefer climate control or more people watching/ being watched. Nothing fancy, just typical veggies from around the local area (and beyond for some ingredients). Check the board for locovore eating. Opt for a real bowl of you are eating in- and tell them, because the plastic to go bowl is the default! This location has been focusing on non-cash payment, so be aware of you to that this may be the new norm: app or card. I like the outdoor seating better, it feels more fun and natural, but indoor air in the summer can be appreciated, too. read more

Salads...ha...Never thought I'd go down this healthy path. I'm a avid meat eater but it has come to my attention that males in my family are prone to heart disease. So I went got my heart checked and of course I had early signs of heart disease. So after coming back from Italy I had many questions as to why their people are so slim. One of the main things I noticed is that meat is the not the primary source of food. Its bread, pasta, and vegetables. I have been lifting for years and I typically over eat to maintain my gains. So I decided to change my diet to that respect. First I fill myself up with vegetables then if I have room for meat then I go for meat. Quite surprisingly I have not needed to. I have cut out many meats out of my normal diet. I have also lost weight. 8 pounds in three weeks. Sweet Green has saved me. All of their salads are delicious, nutritious, and low in calories. 400-600. I was used to consuming 1200-2000 in every meal session. Sweet Green has filled me up with just 400-600. Specifically at this location the staff were very pleasant. They were detail oriented around my salad bowl. They took the time to see if I wanted to add or remove anything from my salad. This is a big deal to me because I feel like a couple ingredients can really make or break a salad. All of our taste buds are different so you should be able to tailor your salad to your liking. This is the first time I've come back since my bad experience from the Old Town Alexandria location. I was rushed. My salad was carelessly made. I wasn't given any option to remove or add ingredients to my salad. This location is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. read more

I love love LOVE Sweetgreen so I was happy to learn that there was one close by. While all of the salads and hot bowls are absolutely delicious, my all time favorite dish here would be the chicken and brussels. I was actually really bummed when I heard that Sweetgreen had taken it off the menu a few months back, but once I saw it back on the menu, my heart felt whole again. The crunch of the brussel sprouts, and the sweet tangy maple vinaigrette provides me with so much comfort. The portion size is also large enough that I can have leftovers. I had a craving for ceasar salad and I tried the kale ceasar salad here. It was the best ceasar I've ever had and hit the spot. I also find it surprisingly that the salad could fill me up for so many hours even though the portions don't look too large (esp compared to chopt where it's super dense). The bowls here are wider though. I love the sweet green business model as they try to source locally and organically and are very environmentally conscious. I always come to sweet green and know I will have a super filling and nutritious meal for under $15. I usually get their signature salads and never disappointed. They also have two restrooms here that have always been clean. I also like how this location is more sunny because of the double exposure windows and they have outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. THE BIG: The corner store right on 4th St SE and Tingey St SE. If that doesn't help, it's right next to Vida and Takorean. Spacious interior with alot of outdoor patio seating. Lunch rush does get busy, but the assembly line is very efficient with getting orders out the door. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I come here every so often, mainly because I work right across the street from this sweetgreen. I have to somehow watch my womanly figure. All of sweetgreen's veggies are regionally sourced and the veggies do taste fresh. You can either choose the signature bowls (both warm and salad) or create your own. I normally get the Kale Caesar because I love their parmesan chips. I can't find that at Chopt! Anyways, the create your own bowl starts at $6 w/ 4 toppings but add on the protein and parmesan chips and avocado, you may have yourself a $13 bowl. They do have seasonal bowls which come in at a cheaper price. I haven't explored that yet, but it looks cool. This location does have a military discount. Note: I would recommend the sweetgreen app to pay especially if you frequent alot because they have perks in the app. If you reach gold level, you get special invites to sweetgreen parties. If you reach black level, you get to have your own exclusive sweetgreen party! THE FINAL BAMBOO: I usually order the Kale Caesar which is $10.65 including tax. Ohhh! My new favorite place to eat healthy near my DC office. I love how they focus on local ingredients. I also love how everything is compostable and sustainable. I'm so excited to be able to eat this salad instead of a Subway salad for dinner. Shakira (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was absolutely great. She was super sweet and helpful. She explained that you get to choose up to 2 base greens (I picked spinach and kale). She then said I get to pick 4 non-premium toppings (I picked tomato, sprouts, mushrooms, and chickpeas). Then she mentioned some of the premium toppings (I added avocado-$1, and Maryland Blue Crab-$5). I especially love how they will fresh squeeze lemon or lime juice on your salad before mixing it with just the right amount of homemade dressing of your choice. I opted just for extra lemon, olive oil, and pepper. But I'm looking forward to trying other dressings when I'm feeling more adventurous. I normally do not order drinks, but I couldn't pass up the fresh watermelon lemonade. It was fantastic! My only small complaint (keeping me from a 5 start review) was that my crab had some pieces of shell in it. This meant I had to be very careful when eating my salad not to crunch painfully into a piece of shell. I do appreciate that someone had to shell a bunch of blue crabs (a testament to how fresh the ingredients are), but more care to avoid bits of shell would have been appreciated. I was excited to try Sweetgreen and have now been twice. The first time, I got the Shoomami salad which was really, really good. It has marinated mushrooms and a tofu "scramble" with sesame seeds and beets. At the end of the line they ask of you want bread or not. It was fantastic, but just too much. I couldn't finish it and saved it. Big mistake. It did not save well, and I ended up throwing it away. The second time I came, I got the same salad since I loved it so much the first time. I asked if they had half-sized portions, but unfortunately they don't. The person making my salad put a little less in the bowl, which was nice so I didn't have to waste so much food...but Sweetgreen is also not super cheap, so that's not so nice. But I suppose its better than throwing away perfectly good food that I can't finish. The only thing I wish I could change is if they would offer a half-size portion.
