A great place to pick up a salad if you work in midtown. I've always found their salads high quality with high quality ingredients. The line length is the only problem. read more

I always leave Chopt feeling like my meal was just *meh*. Am I getting the wrong thing? Maybe I should get one of their listed menu items rather than doing a build your own bowl. Some of the wraps and bowls look really good, especially the seasonal items. When I came by today, it was 30 minutes before closing so the restaurant was empty. I decided to build my own warm bowl. I did cauliflower rice as my base (as an aside, one thing I do like about Chopt is that they have cauliflower rice as a base which a lot of the competitor companies do not.), grilled chicken as my protein with edamame, and some crunchy fixings like crispy shallots, almonds and kale mix as my greens. I finished it off with Asian sesame dressing on the side. This seemed like a well rounded salad to me. It was certainly filling and voluminous (for $18 it better be lol). It tasted fine but it was a little bit underwhelming. The checkout process was quick. They don't toss in the nuts because apparently it's a safety issue, so I had the nuts and dressing on the side. I think they usually offer bread on the side but my cashier didn't offer me bread at checkout. She looked like she was in a rush. Would I come back? If I'm looking for something quick and healthy, sure. Otherwise, probably not my first pick. read more

Chopt Creative Salad Co. - the entrance to chopt - Salad Near Me - New York, New York

It's been years since I've been to Chop't. This location is usually always extremely crowded, but since it was raining today, there was no crowd. I opted for the build your salad, which includes 4 toppings, and if you'd like extra or a protein, there's an up charge. As I was handed my slip, I tempered why I stopped coming-- I'm not a fan of the majority of their dressing options. I went with the Honey Dijon. The staff was friendly and my salad was chopped pretty well-- I've had prior instances where they barely chop it whatsoever, at a different location. Overall, my salad was pretty good, friendly staff, swift process, but I just wish they could add a few more options, in terms of dressing. read more

This is my favorite spot in midtown to get a good salad. I usually order a custom salad which includes the panko chicken, which is great. The red chile dressing is my go to dressing and it tastes great with my salad and adds some heat, which I'm a fan of. This place is typically very busy, but the service is great and they do a good job of getting people in and out quickly. read more

I visited this location in midtown for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a Mexican ceasar salad with tofu and Mexican green goddess dressing. It was a large serving size, and honesty quite tasty. It came with lettuce, tortilla chips, cheese, tofu, and a side of bread. I loved the green goddess dressing and was actually full by the end of the meal. There was a pretty long line to order but it moved relatively quickly. They had an efficient order of operations where you watch them make your salad, and then get passed on to the next person who mixes it up and adds any dressing you want before you move to the register to pay. There was limited seating inside so we got our salads to go. read more

Chopt is by far my favorite salad place when I'm too lazy to make my own at home. They have fresh ingredients, plenty of toppings and protein to choose from and even though it can get crowded, the line moves pretty quickly. You can order in advance and pick up to avoid the line. I always do a custom bowl so sometimes that's easier. There are a couple tables where you can sit but most just take away. read more

Great business lunch - among the salad places in the area, this is my go to. The service is super quick (usually pick up), and the interior itself is easy to get in and out of quickly. Everything is quick, and the Chopt salads are indeed chopped (and tossed!!). Good portions. Hope they don't cheap out like Sweetgreens do. read more

Salad was really good. I ordered the Cobb salad. Didn't wait longer than five minutes to be done. Price was $18 which is a little pricey, but gave you a free slice of bread and water which is nice most places don't do that that are grab and go. read more

Chopt salad sho is probably my favorite, they have such a large variety of salads, wraps and bowls, my favorite part is you can customize any salad or bowl you like, i love the Mediterranean bowl, but i mix it up and make it my own, they have the best dressings, the kale cesar is another one of my faves and i love that they have order ahead service on the app for pick up read more

Food service convenience and quick preparation. The produce and ingredients were fresh and delicious. I will be back again soon!

I like chopt. This location is just awful. They have messed up three straight salads. I don't order anything crazy. I asked for chicken (costs extra) in my Mexican Caesar. I picked it up, and it was missing. I asked to sub cauliflower rice (which costs extra) in for rice in a warm buffalo chicken bowl. The included normal rice. They have since given me a whopping $4 in credits. Not gonna go to a place and pay extra to not receive it then have them not really care. read more

Get it for dinner about once a week from my bf who goes around 6:30-7 and doesn't run into too many issues in terms of wait time. Honestly i find that it is the same as other salad places like just salad haven't tried sweetgreen yet though. Big salad that we fill to the brims for like $12 honestly its expensive imo for rabbit food but its so fresh, healthy and filling for 2 meals so it's not so bad. We make our own, mix it up and get it with stuff like spinach, kale, quinoa, avocado, shwarma/grilled chicken, feta cheese, pepper jack cheese, fried onion crisps, corn, sun dried tomatos. They have an abundance of choices. We get it up to about $20 haha. Would not recommend the steak it looks/tastes like roast beef and comes in a tiny little container. The guy did fill it with more initially and then put some back so that kinda sucked. Haven't tried the set salads but they also sound delicious but i rather make my own but i know you can switch some items in a preset salad. May need to ask or they'll tell you what is extra or can/cannot substitute. We have tried the sweet and smoky chipotle, chimichurri, basalmic, oil and vinegar dressings. All very good depends what you're in the mood for. read more

So good to come back to my grab-and-go lunch spot. Nothing has changed except the volume of people and the lines! They still make a delicious, fresh, and semi-healthy salad (I love their tasty tidbit add-ins which make my choice a little less healthy!!!). The service is still great and it was good to see some familiar faces behind the counter. read more

I've probably had about 30 of their salads this year and will keep coming back. They've got great combinations and dressing, and their seasonal salads are super creative. Chop't is more than just a salad shop, they really deliver actual meals, just recreated into a healthy salad. Staff is skilled and friendly and they are experts at handling the huge lunch crowds. If you're coming for lunch, I highly recommend ordering 1 hour ahead and choosing the pick up option. The 12-2pm slot is insane on any weekday. I've had almost everything on their menu, and can say that you'll never be disappointed. The salads are sometimes very large portions, so it's worth paying attention to that. Just because it's a salad doesn't mean it's necessarily healthy, especially when smothered with creamy dressing! Another tip I'd give is to download the Chop't app and pay with the barcode. Not only does it make ordering faster, but it also gives you rewards sometimes. read more

It pains me to write this review because I've been frequenting this location for the past 3 years since it's so close to my work and had always been satisfied with the salads. Unfortunately I won't be going back as I found a dead lady bug in my chopped salad, see picture. I can't help but think what if they had actually chopped it up and I ate it without realizing? I did reach out to their customer service and they handled it very well and comp'd me for the salad/extra but I don't think I can ever go back, which is such a shame since it's a rarity now that places actually chop salads (SMH). I think there must be some quality control issue though based on some other reviews that I wish I had read. I would advise if you do come here DO NOT come during the lunch rush. The lines are always out the door, and this salad I had ordered ahead of time and picked up clearly had no quality standard. Maybe if you come during a slow time if there does happen to be a bug they can notice it, as I know it's inevitable these things can show up in lettuce, but it should not reach the customer. read more

The greens were fresh; I'll give them that. But really, a $15 salad should feel like a $15 salad, and mine -- on the two occasions I've tried this place -- simply didn't. Ordered a Santa Fe salad and paid $3 extra for grilled chicken. I had to dig around looking for something that looked like chicken, and without exaggeration, I found four or five chunks of it. Come on. I paid 79 cents extra for black beans, found maybe a dozen sad little beans. But more than the skimpiness, I'm bothered by the airline-quality nickel-and-diming. You're up-charging me 79 cents for a handful of black beans on a $15 salad? Really? On the positive side, the online ordering system is highly evolved, with its easy-to-use add and subtract buttons. Overall, despite the smarty-pants salad names and fancy-food ingredients (rainbow carrots, indeed), Chopt's actual greenery is merely meh. You can do as well (or much, much better) at pretty much any decent diner or bodega in the city. read more

Long time customer, but not anymore. Was given the run-around when I went to pick up my order yesterday - told they didn't have any record of my order, I must've ordered from somewhere else, etc. Had to go back to my office and get the confirmation for them to be able to find it. I was having a work day from Hell & really didn't have time to be running back and forth. All in all, a pretty miserable experience. read more

On multiple occasions, I've noticed inconsistency in the amount of dressing applied to the salads. Some salads were drenched in dressing, while others seemed to lack sufficient dressing altogether. This inconsistency can impact the overall quality of the salad. Staff should know what is a standard portion of dressing should be and we, as customers, can adjust accordingly based on the standard portion. read more

I discovered Chopt a month or two ago and was obsessed- ordering from them almost every day. Salads are generally fresh and got me eating somewhat healthy! Yesterday, however, I sat at my desk and popped upon the lid, and as I began to mix in the dressing, I noticed something moving. Yes- for the first time in my life, I found an insect in my food. Alive! It was one of those aphid bugs and it was the same color as the lettuce, so thank god I looked before digging in! Needless to say, I don't see myself eating there anymore- too grossed out! read more

I found an inch long peice of broken plastic in my California south west salad. Must have been from a broken ladle. I didn't catch it fall in when they were making the salad. I come here almost religiously so that was really disappointing. Never again. UPDATE I came back after this incident and was refunded and provided with a gift card. They weren't able to identify if the broken plastic was from them or their food supplier. read more

I like, but just don't love Chopt. Other than maybe the warm bowls, they tend to be skimpy on ingredients and it just winds up being slightly flavored wet lettuce. To add insult to injury, it's ridiculously expensive for what you get. Good looking getting out of here for less than $14 for just a salad. My favorite item is probably the chicken tinga bowl, but one would get sick of that pretty quick. Recently had one of their special bowls with some kind of falafel-like substance and it was dry AF and tasted like cardboard. I think the pretty branding goes a long way, because the product just isn't that good. The ordering process is slightly manic, but seems to work for the lunch rush. Service is nonexistent, they just exist to herd you through. read more

There's either never going back, last choice or my number 1 go to. This salad bar ranks last choice, just not worth the coins, and I gave them a 2nd chance, still a fail. Had nothing to do with the service all food based, although I did taste onion in my salad and it wasn't an ingredient I ordered. What if I was allergic!? read more

I order from here almost every weekday through their app which is convenient. Today I got the Crunchy Vietnamese Salad and service was good as usual. But half way through the salad, I realized there's something wrong with the kale...... almost all the kale pieces have black dots on them! I picked out all of the kale pieces and tried to eat the rest half of the salad but it grossed me out and I finally threw it away. I took pictures of the kale pieces but it's hard to see the dots from the picture. But I can tell you it's really gross in person seeing black dots all over the kale pieces... I chose Chopt over other salad places for it's quality but it really disappointed me today... and the thought of me probably swallowed half of the kale pieces with black dots makes me sick. Hopefully I won't get sick from it :( Update: I was contacted by Chop't right after posting this review. They escalated this issue and compensated me with vouchers. I'm happy with their response, as the point of reviews is to improve the quality and service of the restaurant. I'm impressed with the incident response/ customer relations team. I will return to Chop't and hopefully the quality of the food will be improved and stay high. read more

This is how every Chopt should operate. I go to this Chopt 4 or 5 times a week. The staff are very friendly and extremely well organized from managing the long lines to moving the customer from station to station. They pre-chop the lettuce, which you would think would make it less fresh, but it doesn't. Pre-chopping moves things along so much faster. The food is great and all the stations are neat. The vegetables look and taste fresh all the time. Checkout is fast and friendly. The whole process is managed very well in a tough environment with high customer volume. I recently gave a poor review to the Dobbs Ferry location and did not feel right giving this location a positive review. read more

We went here about 2 years ago for lunch when we were visiting NYC. I had been to one of their locations in DC and had loved it so I wanted to try this one out as well. First of all, let me tell you that you should expect a LOOOOONG wait if you go at lunch time on a weekday. There were at least 40 people ahead of us and the line stretched well outside the store. We still didn't have to wait that long (in relation to the amount of people). The best part was the speed and quickness of the staff...I've never seen anyone chop salads this fast! I couldn't believe it! I think this review would be complete by just saying the above, but I will continue on with the greatness of Chop't... If you are into salads then this is the place to go. You can buy a pre-selected salad from a list of "chop't classics," which has ingredients already mixed in for those that can't decide. OR You can customize a salad in almost any way you would like. First you choose from a variety of lettuce types. Then you choose 4 free "choppings" (my personal faves include carrots, snow peas, corn, oranges, and tomatoes...meats and cheeses cost extra). Then you choose from a variety of homemade dressings (I prefer the 5-flavor asian or oil free balsamic vinaigrette). Then the staff members chop the ingredients and mix them up, which is my favorite part of the experience. They also offer soups and salad sandwiches. I can see why people would argue over the prices, however you get what you pay for here. The salads are amazing and the experience is wonderful as well. At least for me it was :) DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

This is my daily driver, amazing salads, amazing service (Brendan's my guy!). I didn't bother reading the negatives, this place has turned me onto salads permanently. I feel great, and that counts for a lot. Would receive an extra star if they provided reusable or biodegradeable containers. The reality is, they serve a lot of salads everyday, and places like these need to take more responsibility for the environment. read more

Went for lunch and the long line almost drove me away! The line was literally out the door but servers did an awesome job keeping the line moving. I was able to order and get out of the store within 15 minutes. I got the Mendocino market bowl ($9) with spicy tahini dressing and a squirt of lemon. This is delicious! It's got butternut squash, quinoa and lentil blend, charred red onion, Parmesan, and a blend of kale and cabbage. For the price this is an awesome value for the portion and it's healthy! Highly recommend for vegetarians looking for a fall themed market bowl :) read more

This place doesn't stop impressing me. Everytime I go I am in and out of there in very quickly. The organization in this place is exceptional. You don't even feel like you are waiting a long time. The variety of choices that they have makes the experience of eating a salad or wrap like no other. My favorite continues to be their fried chicken and all their vegetables are always fresh. The staff is always so friendly and there to explain the different ways you can order. Would definitely recommend ! read more

Chopt is cheaper than sweetgreen, but it shows in the quality. While they pack a lot of greens into the container, Chopt gives you a lot less of everything else than sweetgreen does. Overall, things look and taste a little less fresh. I had to ask for a squeeze of lime 3 times before I got it. Also, while my salad was supposed to be around $9, I got charged over double the cost. Luckily I caught it while it was on the register display, double checked on my bank app, and came back. No comped salad, only a refund of the overcharge. read more

Having sampled salad from across the various chains, and achieved Sweetgreen Gold status, I'm confident in saying that Chopt is....ok. Probably the best thing about them is that they deliver. I ordered the Kale Caesar with added chicken, which came to $9.69 before tip, tax, and the $3 delivery fee. It arrived in around 45 minutes, not too bad. To their credit, the salad is humungous. I mean it was packed to the brim of the plastic bowl, and since the salad does arrive chopped up, the result is a dense bowl. It was difficult to add the dressing on the side, so I would just request it as part of the salad and tell them your preference (light, heavy) in the comments. The salad itself was ok. The kale was kind of tough, the chicken pretty dry. Really inferior to Sweetgreen's equivalent Kale Caesar, but they make up for it in sheer quantity, the fact that it comes mixed and chopped (Sweetgreen online ordering does not mix their salads), and the fact that they deliver. read more

Wow, Chopt Creative Salad Co. was actually great. Overall, I think this is a great, fun spot. It seems like Chopt was running low on ingredients today. I ordered three salads for delivery and tipped 20% so I don't think this was staff getting revenge for a poor tip. My Mexican "destination" salad was just about 100% finely chopped lettuce with 2 or 3 corn kernels and a sliver of onion here and there. I don't think there was any cheese and at most an ounce of chicken. Not exaggerating, unfortunately. Come on guys if you can't make the salad just give me a call so I can pick a new one or cancel my order They also forgot to include dressing for all 3 salads. read more

I have ordered from this place a few times then stopped because of my order arriving wrong. I tried once again thinking that maybe it would have gotten better but no. My salad arrived without dressing, without bread and without the extra dressing (all of which I had requested on my order). I emailed customer service - no response. Nothing like eating a salad with no dressing on it. So my advice is to find another place and stay away from this one. Horrible service. read more

Chopt often feels like it could be so much better than it is. I often find myself wondering how fresh the ingredients are here, especially the protein. I got the Spicy Sonoma Caeser, and I was a little underwhelmed. Perhaps there's always a little too much dressing, or the avocado was extremely small and hard to find, but I just couldn't quite find the healthy, wholesome feeling while eating this salad. Do the containers have to be plastic? Why not paper? I'd go for something more local next time if I'm feeling a salad. read more

The concept is chic and the salads are bleeding huge, but I probably won't be back. The lunch line is intimidating - long with lots of pinstripes - but it does go fast. Ordering is a bit of a drill, so take your line time to figure out exactly what you want. My problem with Chop't is that a build-your-own salad can easily run you $15, with extra charges for most of the ingredients that make salads worth eating. I also noticed that the asparagus wasn't cooked right and the apple had an unpleasant raw onion quality to it. Chop't might be worth it if you're going with one of their pre-set salads, and the manic pendulum chopping is fun to watch, but otherwise, I'd take my lunch at Cafe Duke. read more
