    Arepitas
    Dani L.

I was out running errands and had to take my medication which requires food and I remembered I was near this place. I've been wanting to try it for a while so I decided to stop in for a quick appetizer. I got the arepitas because I loveeee chunk steak and they were so good. The sauce was the perfect pairing and even finished that whole bowl too lol! I was by myself so I sat in the window, the wait staff was very nice and attentive which I loved. I hate when I'm dining alone and waiters just forget about me since I'm solo. But my waitress kept checking on me and wrapped up so quick I didn't feel like I wasted my time sitting around waiting for someone. She was so sweet too! My only complaint is that it wasn't even 7 pm but the volume of the music was so loud I couldn't hear myself think, I'm talking nightclub level loud. And it really wasn't that crowded on a weeknight so the people that were dining were practically screaming at each other just to have conversation. It kinda killed the vibe a little bit, I'd expect that music volume on a later point in the night like maybe after 9 pm, but it was very early like 6:45 when I went. Also the stairs going to the bathroom is very dark, and I was worried I'd trip and fall near the bottom, I think they should put a little lighting down there for safety reasons. Other than that I really love this place and I'll be coming back to try more items on the menu!

Manhattan, NY (Flatiron) - for those who scoff at the idea of eating vegan: lemme tell you, if someone brought you here without telling you this is a vegetarian, let alone vegan, restaurant, you would be none the wiser. The food is so incredible, innovative, satisfying, beautiful, and you will feel filled and nourished by all the delicious goodness. The theme is Mexican (and kosher) with pizazz, and many of the platters are suitable for sharing family style. A few of our party were just here the prior week so had some recommendations, and my group ordered a bunch of dishes to try: - Sentir guac - Coconut ceviche - Plancho Caesar - Elote asado - Chicken quesadilla - Chicken enchiladas - Chile relleno - Birria tacos - Churros for dessert I also ordered an horchata which is rich and creamy, one the best horchatas I've had anywhere. Even the crunchy, extra thick house-made tortilla chips are a cut above! Every item on the menu is thoughtfully constructed and aesthetically plated, it's hard for me to even pick a favorite. I literally wanted to order one of everything! This one warrants repeat visits.

Great happy hour deal -- 50% off all cocktails, beer, and wine before 6:30pm! Really loved the biria tacos and wouldn't know the food was vegan. Good lively atmosphere but not too crowded on a Tuesday night.

Absolutely excellent experience and yes everything is vegan. We stopped in for lunch after we just had arrived from chicago. Service was excellent. I loved the decor and vibe Most important... the food was phenomenal. Being vegetarian it always nice to find an endless menu of options but Sentir's focus and menu did not disappoint at any step of the way. A Must visit !

Vegan/ Kosher/ Mexican! Their Sentir Guac was delicious! I loved the adult verson of their chicharrones. I have never really liked vegan ice cream. I don't know why I keep trying it, like I will one day find one I like. The fig preserve on this was delicious though. I still gave this restaurant 5 stars since vegan ice cream is just a preference/ dietary restricition and has nothing to do with how this was made. Service and vibe was great. It may be a bit loud music wise for some people.

Loved !!!!!!!! The food the service the ambiance all 10/10 definitely will be returning to try other things in the menu! The fact this is an all vegan restaurant is just the cherry on top for me !

My friend and I checked out @sentirnyc, a Mexican vegan spot in NYC (you might recognize their sister restaurants, Anixi and Willow ), and wow, I was blown away. My friend ordered the albóndigas (braised meatballs) which came with two vegan fried quail eggs that actually had a runny yellow center. Yep, yolk and all. I don't know what kind of culinary sorcery that is, but they nailed the taste and texture of real eggs. We also split the champiñones fritos (fried oyster mushrooms), which were smoky, crispy, and super satisfying. They came with an avocado crema on the side which was creamy, cool, and perfect for dipping. I wasn't expecting to be obsessed, but here we are. For my main, I had the arepitas--mini arepas filled with pulled vegan steak from chunk foods which was scarily realistic and meat-like. If I didn't already know the brand, I wouldn't have guessed it was plant-based. The arepas were buttery, the vegan mozzarella melted beautifully, and the whole thing just worked. Portions were generous (honestly, the apps were plenty filling as a meal), prices were super fair, and the food? Creative, flavorful, and comforting without trying too hard. Definitely a repeat visit place.

The food, presentation, and service were excellent. They were informed of my nut allergy and the server was very articulate about which foods to avoid. The guac came with fried bean curds which was interesting. I got the tamal con carne. Everything had a nice, deep flavor. The carne asada may come off weirdly realistic for vegetarians and vegans. It had a steak look, texture, and tenderness. The churros were perfectly crispy and had three dips: dulce de leche, chocolate, and coconut. They also gave us two glasses of champagne to celebrate our engagement.

Best vegan birria tacos are here!! I was very impressed by the food at Sentir. My friend found this spot and I'm always more than happy to try vegan food to see how chefs reinterpret common meat based dishes in innovative ways. The host was very welcoming and sat me right away. I flipped through the drink menu and thought it wasn't really friendly to non-drinkers. When she got there we had asked what our options were and they had 3 mocktails at the end of the menu. We ordered Guava Limeades and two mains to share: Chicken mole and Birria tacos. The mole was pretty tasty but the "chicken" texture was a bit chewy for me. I fell in love with the birria tacos though. The "steak" was on point and Adobo consommé is magical. I'd dip anything in that consommé, it was so so good. The servers were lovely and attentive, and the dimly lit restaurant was like a cool lounge. Overall a great dinner experience. When in the mood for Mexican I'd definitely come back here to try more dishes! Really curious about the enchiladas and tuna ceviche.

Sentir had friendly staff and gave a dark intimate ambience with beautiful creative dishes. The hen of the woods was beautifully cooked thoroughly, the mole was rich and I just wanted to lick the entire plate after. The dessert was gorgeously made. Rich decadent chocolate with salty caramel. My taste buds were sent to flavor town. I recommend anyone who loves vegan food or wants to try upscale vegan food! Go to Sentir! The chef is putting a twist on this and you don't want to miss out!!

This was one of the best Vegan meals I've ever had. The staff was overly friendly and the atmosphere was so inviting. I highly recommend! The guac appetizer came with "pork rinds" made from tofu for dipping. So crunchy and delicious. The chicken enchiladas were smothered in this amazing sauce. And the churros I ordered to go but were to die for.

After my experience at anixi, and with the owner's response to my review listing his additional restaurants, I was running to the next suggestion. Sentir caught my eye so I had to try it out. I am so glad that I did. My server was exceptional and personable. He was attentive and answered all of my questions and offered amazing suggestions. I want to start off by saying how lovely the vibes of this restaurant are. The ambiance is date night ready! Super beautiful lighting and oh my god the music ! I couldn't stop dancing in my seat! I had a glass of champagne and my girl got a tequila flight which felt really special. The bartender explained in detail the notes of each mezcal and how to truly savor the flavors of each which I thought was a beautiful and thoughtful touch. Okay, now the food, o m g ! DELICIOUS !!!! And not just one meal stood out. Every single item ordered was exceptional. The tostada.. so many divine flavors. The championes fritos... perfection. And don't get me started on those churros.... The chocolate sauce and the condensed milk. My god ! After every bite, I said I can't wait to come back here :P I will be back!

They say it's "Kosher Nikkei Cuisine." Nikkei, right? It's Japanese and Peruvian I think. Just the thought makes you feel like you've got a window open, looking out upon two different countries, one on each side, it's that different. The whole thing is fusion, but it's not phony. Not at all. You should have seen the edamame, perfectly salted and green, not all soggy and gray like they make them in most places. The chawanmushi they served was crazy. Smooth as anything. It was in this cute little glass jar, which is kind of a childish thing to do, but it was actually pretty special. It had some kind of crazy salmon roe, ikura, floating on top, and those salty little orange balls just pop in your mouth and taste like the actual ocean. I swear. It really did. Then they bring out some steak. It looked just plain, you know? But it was actually A5 Wagyu. If you know anything about beef, that's as high as it gets. And the sauce? The menu said Huuancaína. That's Peruvian. So it's this crazy fancy Japanese steak dipped in this spicy, cheesy Peruvian sauce. It makes me want to scream, it's so unexpected, but it works. It really does. It was the least phony steak I've ever had. The Sen Sakana Omakase was something else, though. The chef, this Japanese guy who looked about as old as my grandfather, which made you know he was serious brings out twelve pieces of nigiri and this huge spicy tuna handroll. The fish was so cold and fresh and clean. The octopus, that's some crazy tentacle stuff, was chewy but not too chewy. The whole time, I was just eating this fish and watching all the phonies walk by outside on 44th Street. It almost makes you want to cry. It was about as close to real as anything I've ever experienced. You should have seen the place. The lights were sort of dim and yellow, and the wood was all clean and sleek, not all cluttered and phony. It felt almost like you were outside. If you have to eat at a special place, you should eat at Sen Sakana. The food is good, it's not phony, and you can just watch all the morons outside and not have to talk to them. It almost makes you happy.

However, it tasted like it had been reheated rather than cooked fresh. The bone was not hot and the fat was not fully rendered or caramelized, which took away from the overall experience. The three dessert options were apple streudel, affogato "al caffe", and key lime pie. I ordered brussel sprouts, duck, and key lime pie, and Eric R. got lamb riblets, ora king salmon, and apple streudel. I think he regretted offering me a lamb riblet because it was ridiculously tender and melted in my mouth.
