My friend and I made reservations at P.S. Kitchen at 1:30 on a Sunday before seeing The Great Gatsby. They have a homey space, which is bigger than it seems, since there is an upstairs! Since we were there for brunch, I decided to try the P.S. Breakfast ($22) which is tofu scramble, spinach, portobello mushrooms, and corn muffins. My friend got the P.S. Burger ($20) with a gluten-free bun ($2). For the breakfast, the portobello mushrooms were the highlight of the dish. They were very juicy and had strong umami flavor! I love spinach even plain, but I think it could have used a touch more seasoning. The tofu scramble was seasoned, but it could either use more seasoning or more moisture. The corn muffins were dry and crumbly, definitely the worst part of the dish. My friend said that the sauce brought the burger together and hid the fact that it's a Beyond burger. She also mentioned that she didn't feel heavy after eating the burger, which was nice. Despite us telling the restaurant that we had to go to a musical, service was on the slower side. My friend also had to try several times to get to the bathroom, since someone was always inside. However, the staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. I would only recommend P.S. This is a gem of a restaurant! From our host Hans to our waiter, David, everything was perfect! We were seated upstairs. The music was a little loud for me, so it was hard to hear and to talk. But I still loved it.. David the waiter was so nice near the menu. He's a great server.!! and incredibly patient. Hans the host was really friendly, warm and engaging. We didn't have a reservation and he didn't mind. The bathrooms were clean. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and it was absolutely delicious every single dish.!! I had two Modelo beers, we had an order of vegan crabcakes with tartar sauce. Chicken wings, which were so good with a few few different types of sauces. I tried this vegan restaurant with a friend for dinner. The interior was super adorable, clean, and modern, featuring exposed brick on the wall, cool lights over the bar, pink lighting, and plenty of space for seating. There was a cozy atmosphere to the place. We decided to share the Steak Marsala, Chicken Pot Pie, and Truffle Fries. The Steak Marsala truly resembled steak, and my friend actually thought it was real steak meat. I could definitely discern the difference though. It was tender, well seasoned, covered in a savory, tasty mushroomy Marsala sauce, with plenty of mashed potatoes topped with mushroom and garlic spinach on the side. Truffle Fries were perfectly crispy with strong truffle flavor, dusted with herby spices. The Chicken Pot Pie looked pretty good with spices and rosemary on top. The crust was satisfyingly crisp, flaky, buttery, while the inside was a mixture of chicken substitute, peas, carrots. However, the filling wasn't thick enough for me, and I think the addition of potatoes would have made it much better. Service was lovely. Our waiter was welcoming and knowledgeable about the offerings. Prices were decent for the area. Menu was creative, especially given that it is all plant based. We enjoyed our time here! Three of us had a very nice after-theater meal here this evening. We started with two appetizers and a soup. The crabby cakes (three in the serving) were delicious. Somehow, they were able to approximate the flavor and texture of crab with a combination of chickpeas, artichokes, hearts of palm and panko. Very well prepared and tasty. The roasted brussel sprouts were "fine". The menu says they are prepared with a citrus balsamic reduction. No one was very impressed with these. The Colombian potato soup was flavorful and we all enjoyed that. The broth was not very hot (temperature-wise), which was a disappointment. We ordered soup because it was a very cold day and were looking forward to a hot soup. Of the appetizers we shared, we agreed that the crabby cakes were the strongest of the three. The brussel sprouts none of us would get again. They were essentially a small bowl of brussel sprouts with no special characteristic flavor. The entrees were all a big success. I loved my PS Lasagna. It tasted like a meat lasagna in a very flavorful and very nicely seasoned marinara. It was outstanding. And a very nice portion. The Chicken Pot Pie was delicious also. The crust was flaky, with lots of pieces of "chicken". Could have used more peas and carrots. But a very flavorful dish that is an excellent example of how comfort food can be made in vegan style. The chicken Caesar wrap was enormous and delicious. The service here was excellent. We were well-attended to, especially with respect to filling of water glasses. We had a reservation and arrived over a half hour early, but they were able to take us right away. When we were done, we did notice a long line of people waiting to get in, so we couldn't linger. First time stopping by while being vegan/vegetarian for nearly 10 years. This place is a must try if you are vegetarian/vegan, in my opinion. The options are unique and fun compared to the options you may have elsewhere. I ordered the steak and the chicken pot pie. The pot pie was very good but definitely had a "gardein" taste to it, which I didn't mind since I enjoy their products. The steak was very rich and had a similar flavor profile to actual steak from what I can remember but the texture was not close. My husband order the PS classic burger and I ordered the sweet Thai chicken sandwich on a lettuce wrap. I thought it was cool that they offered the lettuce wrap option. Unfortunately, it wasn't as much of a wrap as a few pieces of bib lettuce held together with toothpicks lol. However, the chicken made up for it. It was the best mock vegan chicken I've had by far. I even asked the waiter the brand they use and I'm going to buy it. A word of caution though- the sweet chili they use is not mild. It was very spicy and it was hard to get through as someone who doesn't tolerate spice. My husband also enjoyed his burger. Next time, I'd really like to try their crabby cakes and the maitake wings. I love P.S. Kitchen. I have been coming here for years. It's the best spot for vegans and non vegans alike if you're going to a Broadway show nearby or just having dinner/lunch to catch up with friends. The restaurant is cozy and has two floors plus outdoor dining space when the weather allows. The food is always amazing and the servers are really attentive and kind. My go to's are the maitake wings (buffalo) and the chili cheese fries for appetizers. The portions are HEFTY. If you are getting the chili cheese fries it is a whole bowl loaded with mock meat, cheese, beans and other delicious add ins. For mains I love the pot pie and the Caesar wrap (I have a lot of pictures of those lol). I've had family try the burger and the steak and also love it. They were very accomodating about our show time and brought out our food with plenty of time to eat, catch up and walk over to the show with no stress. Valentine's Day we walk in with no reservation, but the concierge kindly says there's a table available but there's a reservation for 1:00 if we are willing and we can finish within the hour. The music is a bit too present, modern alt pop. The dense paper napkins seem an off note. Why not cloth? I ordered the Seitan Marsala. The seitan seemed ever so slightly salty, which could have been redeemed by a more robust Marsala sauce. The spinach was redolent of garlic and nicely wilted without being too much so.
