I returned to NYC and gave them another try. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Salad with extra garlic sauce, no tomatoes - $18.98. Got a side of harissa sauce and a Pineapple Ginger juice. I loved the fact that their chicken is gf. It's a simple salad with just the romaine lettuce, red onion, and sauce (comes with tomato too but I omitted them), but it's a hearty portion and I figured the grape leaves (which are supposed to come with it) would make it worth the near $20 price point. Well, they didn't give me any dolmas at all, and I totally forgot about them until later. I checked before writing this and their online menu definitely still says the salad comes with grape leaves, so they can't (shouldn't) say that it has changed. I LOVE dolmas, so their omission has left me a tad vexed. Aside from grape-gate, the salad itself was tasty. The jerk chicken didn't taste like real island jerk, but it had some spice and it was very good. I did feel that the salad was missing something. I went back and asked if I could buy some avocado, but they didn't have any. I guess it just needed those M.I.A. dolmas. 6/10 That Pineapple Ginger juice was the truth!! I wish I'd bought a dozen to bring on the plane. It tasted freshly made and the ingredients also tasted fresh. No canned or packaged pineapple or ginger, judging by the taste. 10/10 My habibi ordered the Impossible Chopped Cheese. He is FAR from vegan, but he's a good sport when it comes to trying it out, and he keeps it 100 all the time. That being said, he said that he really liked his sandwich. He was impressed! The customer service was solid, as a new customer I had questions of which the young man answered readily and not appearing like I was annoying him. The side salad was a few lettuce, onions and tomatoes. I wasn't too impressed but I used these greens for my gyro. The Mac and cheese was pretty good for a vegan Mac n cheese, creamy and cheesy. The gyro was the main character!!! I intended to eat half but as I thought about how full my day would be and how good the gyro was I continued eating!!! I came to Vegan on The Fly for a work week lunch with a friend. The restaurant had a small seating area in the back and you order with the cashier up front. When I got there, there were no customers so I was able to pick up my food only a few minutes after ordering it. I got the platter. Flavor was great and I love how there was a good amount of salad on the side. I do wish there was some more variety to the platter (IE fries, pickles, etc) especially with how pricy it was (over 20$ after tax). All in all, a nice tasting item but quite pricy! read more

Great vegan option in the heart of Midtown. Close to Times Square if you're in the area sightseeing. Built out of the former location for Xi'An Famous Foods, this is a slightly odd shaped spot. You order in the front where the kitchen is, and then you take your food to the back where they have limited seating available. The food itself is solid, and it can make you forget you're eating vegan food in most cases. The only time you'll know, and this is common with vegan food, is the mac and cheese. They are the perfect texture and with amazing flavore and a sugar cane "bone" to make it more realistic. That may seem silly but it pulls it off well. There is ordering at a kiosk as you get inside, but can also order online ahead of time. The food came out quick and was brought to us. There are several seats for maybe 10 people at bars. Amazing vegan food. I was staying in a hotel a few minutes from here and this place has been on my radar for sometime. I'm glad I was able to stop in. The loaded fries had some type of vegan Shawarma on it and it was amazing. And then I had got the six or seven piece wings. That was amazing. I also had a ginger pineapple drink. So refreshing.
