We had arrived in NYC for fall break and dumped out bags at the hotel before heading out to find a quick lunch and explore the city. I have three big guys with me and sometimes quick lunches need to be more filling than fast food options, so we chose Alidoro's under Rockefeller Plaza. We could walk to it form the hotel and it was in the middle off all we wanted to show the boys on their first day (first time) in the city. We all chose different sandwiches and they were ready pretty fast. Since the shop itself is not huge, we landed a small space at the window bar with two stools and some standing room. After being in a car and on a flight and in another car all morning, we weren't mad about the standing part. We were all able to share and sample each sandwich, and honestly, we were not disappointed. We were all full and happy when we weren't finished, so what more could we want for a relatively quick NYC meal? Being under the plaza, the restrooms were outside the shop but very close by so we were able to wash hands and such before journeying out into the wild. I would definitely stop back by again on another trip! The guys and I all gave Alidoro's two thumbs up - so 8 thumbs total, if you're counting. read more

First off, I am embarrassed it took me a good 15 mins getting lost... in the dang concourse.. to find Alidoro. I blame the tree lighting prep, the on-going revitalization... not my finest NYKer moment. Ugh. I love their sandwiches... since having one at Moynihan station (Penn St), if I'm near one... for sure. My favs are Gothamist (prosciutto), Romeo (smoked chicken breast, hot peppers!) and Alyssa (that mozz & arugula!). Guess the prices are decent for Manhattan... 3 of these ran about $55... (plus tip was $61 cuz I panic). I struggle with this tipping culture post covid... bc it's insane that 20% is the NOW Normal standard?!?! Overall: I was pretty disappointed with my experience at Ali Doro. I've been before and had some pretty good sandwiches, but this was lackluster. To make matters worse, the service was super slow. The prosciutto was good, but everything was completely overpowered by the olive spread. It was ok, but I won't get it again. Service: The service was incredibly slow. By the time I got my food, there was a line of 15+ people who had ordered and were standing waiting for their food. Orders came out extremely slowly and out of sequence. Value: My sandwich cost $18. Which might have been reasonable if it was piled high with meat and toppings, but it was nothing special. I was pretty disappointed with what I got for my money. Atmosphere: This place was a small corner of a service counter in the concourse level below Rockefeller Plaza. It was tiny with a couple of stools. This is my special treat sandwich place in the middle of the Rock Center lunch vortex. Hack: order ahead of time. Like way ahead of time. For lunch, online orders can be a 75 minute wait. I recently joined Mealpal. So, through this I tried the Pinnochio at Alidoro in Rock Center. I am not really sure what to say about this sandwich. The ingredients are good, but the sandwich is not. This is supposed to fresh mozz, prosciutto, Soppressata, roasted peppers and olive paste. First, they put ALOT of olive paste on the top of the bread - so much so that is literally made the sandwich top soggy. Meanwhile the layers of prosciutto and soppressata are very thing. Like 1 or 2 slice thin. The fresh mozz is decent, though nothing special. The bread is also very mediocre. For $16.50 this is a crime. read more

Got to try ALIDORO catered the other day. I tried their tuna sandwich which they call the Daniela. It was super tasty and a little spicy. The bread was good and the tuna was nice. I was pleasantly surprised that the tuna did not have mayo in it. I haven't visited the shop but I've heard great things about it, especially their meat sandwiches. Im pescatarian though so I was happy they had a tuna option. They also have some veggie options which is great. The sandwich was very nicely packed up to go. I researched some top sandwiches and saw this place recommended on a few sites. Let me first say, it was delicious and absolutely worth the 15 minute wait (we were able to pop in when it wasn't busy but they do have online ordering if you want to grab and go!) I suggest grabbing one that's hot or asking for it toasted. Bread was very fresh as well as the toppings. ALIDORO is very much a hit or a miss based on what you get and also, quite frankly; who is preparing your sandwich. I had the Gothamist one day and it was absolute perfect and albeit it was pricey I would have it again and again. The 3rd location of Alidoro just opened in Rockefeller Plaza (not counting the short-lived location in the Bowery Market). It's as incredible as ever, and even worth milling through the tourists and trying to figure out where it is in the dining concourse. They opened at the most perfect time of year, and will be able to make a year's worth of sales alone from Italian tourists visiting to the see the Christmas Tree right upstairs. The new Giorgio at this location is incredible, but everything they make is really excellent, so try whatever sounds good to you. I'll be back next week when they launch breakfast. read more

It was very busy when I went so I did have to wait in line to order and receive my food, but understandable considering it was lunchtime. This was my 2nd time going because i always pass by when I'm going to work in 45 Rockafella center. I told the lady i wanted the same sandwich as i seen advertised on her screen. When i got to my building an opened up my sandwich it was just the meat, an some pesto sauce that i don't even eat.
