We had arrived in NYC for fall break and dumped out bags at the hotel before heading out to find a quick lunch and explore the city. I have three big guys with me and sometimes quick lunches need to be more filling than fast food options, so we chose Alidoro's under Rockefeller Plaza. We could walk to it form the hotel and it was in the middle off all we wanted to show the boys on their first day (first time) in the city. We all chose different sandwiches and they were ready pretty fast. Since the shop itself is not huge, we landed a small space at the window bar with two stools and some standing room. After being in a car and on a flight and in another car all morning, we weren't mad about the standing part. We were all able to share and sample each sandwich, and honestly, we were not disappointed. We were all full and happy when we weren't finished, so what more could we want for a relatively quick NYC meal? Being under the plaza, the restrooms were outside the shop but very close by so we were able to wash hands and such before journeying out into the wild. I would definitely stop back by again on another trip! The guys and I all gave Alidoro's two thumbs up - so 8 thumbs total, if you're counting. read more

Good flavor of the Pinocchio sandwich due to the olive paste a s sweet roasted peppers. But my sandwich was seriously lacking in the prosciutto and sweet sopressata. For $16.50, I definitely should have gotten at least two slices of each meat. read more

Nothing special, really. The bread is fresh. For the Ham & Jam, they were out of the blackberry jam, so they offered to use apricot instead. Not only did it not do it justice, but it was so sparse, it really tasted like a ham sandwich without condiments. Service was lukewarm, as well. read more

Looking for a great, quick food option in Rockefeller Center? This should be your option! Truly nothing better than building your own sandwich. First off, I am embarrassed it took me a good 15 mins getting lost... in the dang concourse.. to find Alidoro. I blame the tree lighting prep, the on-going revitalization... not my finest NYKer moment. Ugh. I love their sandwiches... since having one at Moynihan station (Penn St), if I'm near one... for sure. My favs are Gothamist (prosciutto), Romeo (smoked chicken breast, hot peppers!) and Alyssa (that mozz & arugula!). Guess the prices are decent for Manhattan... 3 of these ran about $55... (plus tip was $61 cuz I panic). I struggle with this tipping culture post covid... bc it's insane that 20% is the NOW Normal standard?!?! Gotta watch that iPad swivel... and be brave to click "custom" ... if you're not careful, you'll end up with a 25% tip! *cry face* Sandwiches are good. Pricey. But that standard 20%.... Not gonna be a regular for me. read more

Overall: I was pretty disappointed with my experience at Ali Doro. I've been before and had some pretty good sandwiches, but this was lackluster. To make matters worse, the service was super slow. I don't think I'll be back to this location again. Food: 3 Service: 1 Value: 2 Atmosphere: 2 Food: I got the Pinocchio on ciabatta. It was just alright. The prosciutto was good, but everything was completely overpowered by the olive spread. It was ok, but I won't get it again. Service: The service was incredibly slow. There was one other couple in the store when I ordered and it took 20 minutes for them to make my sandwich. By the time I got my food, there was a line of 15+ people who had ordered and were standing waiting for their food. Orders came out extremely slowly and out of sequence. Value: My sandwich cost $18. Which might have been reasonable if it was piled high with meat and toppings, but it was nothing special. I was pretty disappointed with what I got for my money. Atmosphere: This place was a small corner of a service counter in the concourse level below Rockefeller Plaza. It was tiny with a couple of stools. This is my special treat sandwich place in the middle of the Rock Center lunch vortex. Hack: order ahead of time. Like way ahead of time. For lunch, online orders can be a 75 minute wait. Although if you walk up, it's much more reasonable. The sandwiches are delicious and filling and probably not very good for you. Service is typical deli counter service, no frills and if you didn't hear them, that's on you. read more

I recently joined Mealpal. So, through this I tried the Pinnochio at Alidoro in Rock Center. I am not really sure what to say about this sandwich. The ingredients are good, but the sandwich is not. This is supposed to fresh mozz, prosciutto, Soppressata, roasted peppers and olive paste. First, they put ALOT of olive paste on the top of the bread - so much so that is literally made the sandwich top soggy. Meanwhile the layers of prosciutto and soppressata are very thing. Like 1 or 2 slice thin. The fresh mozz is decent, though nothing special. The bread is also very mediocre. For $16.50 this is a crime. read more

Although these sandwiches are on the premium side, eating half of the sandwich is enough to be filling. I ordered the Brando ($16.50), which consists of smoked turkey, provolone, sweet roasted peppers, and arugula. I also got the Gothamist ($18), which consisted of prosciutto, burrata, lemon basil pesto, and sun-dried tomato paste. Both are really good, depending on what you like. My personal favorite of the two was the Gothamist. read more

Solid 4 stars. Pros: the sandwich was delicious. I got the La Patatina special on focaccia and was very pleasantly surprised by the taste and size: this was a large sandwich! Some of the other bread options seemed smaller in size. Cons: only real con is the price tag. I paid $18 for my sandwich + tax, though it was a special. The price seems less egregious when considering the size of the sandwich. Overall a great tasting sandwich, but a bit too pricey to be a regular. read more

Breakfast sandwiches like the "Maria" or the BLT are also great and delicious as well as the best Coffee in Rock Center! Got to try ALIDORO catered the other day. I tried their tuna sandwich which they call the Daniela. It was super tasty and a little spicy. The bread was good and the tuna was nice. I was pleasantly surprised that the tuna did not have mayo in it. I haven't visited the shop but I've heard great things about it, especially their meat sandwiches. Im pescatarian though so I was happy they had a tuna option. They also have some veggie options which is great. The sandwich was very nicely packed up to go. It was easy to take it with me and I'm excited to visit their busy sandwich shop the next time I'm in need of a good sandwich especially since it looks so nice and we'll put together. read more

Bread, meats, cheese, veggies, sauce, everything you need to make a great sandwich. They have several locations throughout the city too! 1. Gothamist : prosciutto, burrata, sun-dried tomato paste, and lemo basil pesto on semolina (5/5) 2. Alidoro : prosciutto, hot peppers, sweet roasted peppers, arugula, fennel, mushroom paste, and hot spread on focaccia (5/5) 3. Italian cheesesteak : herb-roasted beef, provolone, sautéed mushrooms, truffle cream, and black garlic mustard on semolina (5/5) Wow the Gothamist is one of my favorites! I researched some top sandwiches and saw this place recommended on a few sites. Let me first say, it was delicious and absolutely worth the 15 minute wait (we were able to pop in when it wasn't busy but they do have online ordering if you want to grab and go!) I suggest grabbing one that's hot or asking for it toasted. Bread was very fresh as well as the toppings. ALIDORO is very much a hit or a miss based on what you get and also, quite frankly; who is preparing your sandwich. I had the Gothamist one day and it was absolute perfect and albeit it was pricey I would have it again and again. On the other hand, I had their special with Katz and tried the 1904 special sandwich and it was terrible. The bread was awful and there was barely any pastrami given (see picture attached below). All in all, definitely stick to the classics here. read more

Probably some of the best food we had in NYC. We got the gothamist which I was shocked was the same price as the other sandwiches since it has burrata and meat. It was amazing! Substantial size and not a bad value for NYC at Rockefeller center. I ordered ahead of time and it was great to pick it up with no wait and be on my way. The 3rd location of Alidoro just opened in Rockefeller Plaza (not counting the short-lived location in the Bowery Market). It's as incredible as ever, and even worth milling through the tourists and trying to figure out where it is in the dining concourse. They opened at the most perfect time of year, and will be able to make a year's worth of sales alone from Italian tourists visiting to the see the Christmas Tree right upstairs. The new Giorgio at this location is incredible, but everything they make is really excellent, so try whatever sounds good to you. I'll be back next week when they launch breakfast. read more

I visited for lunch and got the pinocchio sandwich. It was good but not the best I've ever had. It was very busy when I went so I did have to wait in line to order and receive my food, but understandable considering it was lunchtime. Awesome sandwiches. We had breakfast sandwiches and coffee here after watching the Today Show. Deeeelish. The service at the counter was so friendly and sweet. Fast sandwich making, straightforward. Yummy sandwich spot with customizable and pre-made options. If you come during lunchtime on the weekdays prepare to wait 15-20 minutes after ordering to get your food. If your in the neighborhood check it out. Solid sandwhiches with fresh Italian ingredients and friendly service. With that being said, I'm not sure it lived up to the massive amount of hype around it. We tried the Enzo (good flavor but a little dry) and the Il Sole (the better of the two. One of my favorite sandwich places. Bread is fresh. All other ingredients are high quality. Hot peppers were pretty spicy. If your sandwich doesn't come with cheese, always add fresh mozzarella. Slightly on the smaller size and takes a while to get made, but well worth it. read more

This place has been open for a few years and somehow isn't on yelp. I tried it today and it's really wild how none of the modifications made it onto the sandwiches we ordered. Oh, and if you order a side of meat or cheese (for 4 bucks extra mind you), you'll get a couple slices at most. The service was awful too, they seemed upset that we were there ordering... on a Friday, which is the least busy it gets all week. Hard pass, never again. read more

Alidoro is a tiny shop that is tucked away in the basement of Rockefeller Center. If you can find it you will be in luck. I ordered a Fiorello sandwich and I took it to go. The sandwich is made with Mortadella, Mozzarella, and Caponata. It was made to order and the prep time was relatively quick for peak lunch time. I liked the sandwich very much, though I thought that it could have been larger. My bill was $17.62, and the value was $15.00. Thank U next! read more

Decadent rich creamy Philly cheese steak, tender beef, and the foccica is fresh soft and fluffy, rich with olive oil. The gothamist is my favorite with the prosciutto burrata and pesto, a bit pricier than the rest which seems kinda silly. All in all a bit salty but we're talking classic cold cuts. This was my 2nd time going because i always pass by when I'm going to work in 45 Rockafella center. I told the lady i wanted the same sandwich as i seen advertised on her screen. When i got to my building an opened up my sandwich it was just the meat, an some pesto sauce that i don't even eat. Ended up throwing the sandwich in the garbage having paid $20 including a soda an a tip, I could've gotten the same sandwich @ my local corner store for the price. The girl taken my order didn't even know how or what was the sandwich that was being advertised ‍ ‍, couldn't take the sandwich back bcuz i was already pressed for time an only had a half hour to eat my food. Saw the negative reviews and figured I'd say some nice things to balance it out. I ordered the Sofia sandwich and my colleague ordered the caprese salad. Prices were reasonable. Service was professional and prompt. And the food was quite good. My sandwich was $15 after tax but it is huge. Ingredients were fresh and authentic. This place is a madhouse during lunch. The staff was very friendly, but obviously overwhelmed. I waited 20 minutes for my sandwich(Alidoro), was told they ran out of the bread I ordered, and was then given the wrong sandwich on the wrong bread anyway. This was a major disappointment. Nonetheless, this slice was delicious. Hot, melty gooey cheese and lots of pepperoni overload. Crust is divine. I could just eat that by itself. We also had leftover chicken parmesan and asked for an extra plate, but they refused, saying we already had one. A simple, sturdy to-go box would make a big difference and prevent greasy slices from getting crushed or leaking through the bag. Unfortunately, I wouldn't go back.
