Stumbled upon Bagizza after a Happy Hour. With a little bit of hunger plus of both bagels and pizza wandered in. When they explained that a Bagizza is a pizza made with bagel dough crust, decided to give it a try with the Classic Margherita variety. It was freshly baked relatively quickly. Spoiler alert - just because it was made with bagel dough doesn't meet it would taste like or eat like a bagel... since there is more than a dough to make a bagel! That being said, it tasted really great! (The fresh basil really made the whole thing totally satisfying!) And if I was working in this part of midtown and in need of a quick lite bite, definitely would stop by. Great spot near all of the main Midtown/Times Square tourist attractions for grabbing something reasonably priced, filling, fresh, and DELICIOUS! We walked over here from our hotel because the name caught our attention and the prices/photos all looked pretty solid, and we weren't disappointed! They also have more options than the Bagizza style - I went for a more traditional/normal type of bagel sandwich called the 'Avoglow'... I LOVED IT!!! So fresh, packed FULL of creaminess, rich avocados, some zesty hints of lemon and nicely juicy and ripe tomatoes, amongst other toppings. It was around $7 and BIG - for most people, enough for two meals. I know for me, it was certainly more than enough to have some leftover - and I had been starving from not eating all day at that point! It's also very bright, airy, and clean within the dining area, and the counter service for ordering is very quick. My only regret is that we didn't find Bagizza sooner; their hot buffet would have made fast lunch so much easier on a day or two we needed it! Located right in the financial district I have no doubt the Madison Avenue crowd is the bulk of who we saw there as we flitted in, in full tourist mode, and were stunned by the variety and the level of food quality. Hubs & I each tried a different kind of salmon preparation (and each though our own choice was better), some pasta (I has a wonderful one with mushrooms that if it were my entire meal I would be happy), and a slab of steak -- prime rib for me, skirt steak for him (his was better). The pricing was somewhat higher than I would want to pay if I were only getting caesar salad and roasted brussel sprouts (the caesar was good, the brussels were transcendent) at $17.58/lb if paying by card (there was a small cash discount), but considering it's the same price across the board for anything you put in your takeaway box, it was kind of a steal. We came in for pizza and were a little surprised to find the buffet, so we completely missed the pizza experience, and as we weren't there until our last day in NYC, we didn't have the option of coming back for a midnight slice later in the week. But we would love to return, and try all the things! Note: we first got in the pizza ordering line to pay for our hot buffet boxes of food but when we spotted another register with staff and without lines but without pizza we shifted over. Bagizzas seem like a mini personal pizza... the pricing seems ok. Sandwich pricing seems ok too. I decided on a Grilled Chicken Pesto Melt. It had argula, mozzarella, chicken, tomatoes on a ciabatta. Weighing a hefty 6.55oz, this bagel was drier than I had hoped. It was a bit hard but a good density. The blueberry bagel flavors were great. However, the bagel was subpar. When I heard pizza bagels I didn't know what to expect but in the mornings they are a full service bagel spot and for lunch/casual dinner they are a pizza spot. The dough is made from pizza dough and they come out looking like little bar pies. The crust is thin and crispy and they have some good specialty flavors. Partial to the vodka sauce and pesto myself. It's really interesting pizza that I think is worth a try. I had the veggie pizza, which came with a nice variety of veggie toppings, plenty of cheese, and a mild but tasty sauce. The crust is super thin, but still chewy, which is where the bagel fusion part comes in. Staff was very helpful and friendly. While many breakfast and lunch spots in NYC feel crammed and leave you questioning how fresh their food is - bagizza is open and fresh.
