The Vegan Egg & Beyond Meat
Steve A.

An amazing concept. It looks a lot like a typical convenience store and deli but it isn't. Vegan Deli has something for non meat eaters too. Lot of stuff in fact. The prices are good too. I like the vegan Egg & Beyond Meat. It's about $8 for a pretty good sized sandwich. This is vegan egg substitute and Beyond soy link sausage on toast. It comes with a hash brown. This tastes just like something for breakfast at some fast food place. So many other good choices. There's also premade drinks and salads. Good stuff is what you can find. It has lots of meat substitutes and they taste like the real stuff. The people at the counter are mostly friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and things.

This weekend was my first visit to this new deli but I'm sure I'll return. Vegan Deli is my kind of deli. It's close to my apartment and opens at 6am. The bagels are great. The place is new. They have two grills in order to keep foods for vegan and carnivore lovers separate. Everything is fresh daily and the employees are nice. One employee handles the food and the other mans the cash register. It's take out only. I'm recommending for meals on the run. They are open 6am to Midnight Seven days a week! The cashier said they are new to the neighborhood. I said I would add them to Yelp because I'm a fan!

Pretty nice deli that recently opened up in the area. Variety of hot and cold sandwich options. Salads, wraps, breakfast. Smoothies, juices, and protein shakes. Plenty of snacks, refrigerated drinks, and some household items. Neat and clean place. They also offer vegan options which are prepared on a separate grill. Tasty cup of hot coffee for $1 a cup.

Vegan bacon, egg, cheese, and sausage on a roll with hash browns. Holy moly, mackerel, Moses, and more!

I have run past this place quite a few times, and kept telling myself that one day I'd finally patronize it, because on the Upper West Side, we aren't lucky enough to have anything like this and there's no damned way I'm going to go through life without stepping into a vegan deli (it's not entirely vegan; it seems like the menu is half and half, and I've heard the grills are separate for vegan and non-vegan) and then stepping back in another time and another until I've tried every item on the menu at least, oh, I dunno, half a dozen times. I finally stopped in this morning, a Saturday, after my run, and ordered the vegan bacon, egg, cheese, and sausage (I'm not quite sure of the order of those items) on a roll (there's also an option to get it as a hero!), and it comes with hash browns, which thrilled me to the gills. As I waited for it, I chatted with the lovely young gentleman at the register, who was super-nice and friendly, and glanced at the other fella who was tending to my food on the grill. I got a frisson of a *rush* when he sliced the sandwich in half with a big knife, because I knew that that would give the thing that delicious cross-section view that the kidz seem to be into these days, which makes food look even more scrumptious and appealing. I took my bounty to a little park at 90th and Second, found a bench, and was already giving Pavlov's dog a run for its money. Then, after my first bite -- drum roll -- I'm pleased to report that what I ordered BLEW AWAY MY EXPECTATIONS! I even exclaimed aloud to myself about how good it was and may have (okay, so I did) even cursed a little bit about how, uh, flim-flammin' delicious it was. I am thrilled to have finally tried this place and plan to make it a part of my routine. I'm hooked.

I was bemoaning my inability to eat the iconic chopped cheese sammich with my intense food allergies... and my friend recommended I try the vegan chopped cheese. This is one of the best bodega experiences I've had in my 8+ years in the city. The staff was so kind and perky to everyone who walked in. It was clear this store is beloved by the owners, staff, and locals. Unassumingly, this bodega offers what you would typically find BUT ALSO a wide variety of vegan, dairy free, vegetarian, and gluten free options. I have no other way to describe my experience than to say it was prepared with love, which I understand how odd that sounds... the cook adjusted the sandwich to accommodate my food allergies with gluten free bread. He softly wrapped and then padded the sandwich with fries. He delicately sliced holes into the top of the plastic lid so the moisture would escape without rendering the contents inside as a soggy mess. The person at the register (possibly the owner) was so delighted by my happiness to finally eat a chopped cheese that he thanked me for my joy with a banana... again this interaction was done with the kind of love one might expect between friends. This store is great and I hope my review inspires more people to try it out. Yes, it is a bodega so don't expect a fancy restaurant. But for being a bodega, it is a treasure to enjoy.

Well Over a year and they still won't change the menu board prices. Until people start demanding to pay ONLY the posted prices, they will continue to not update the sign. Actual prices are 15-20% higher but advertise lower. What a Shame! They can't be trusted.

What a cool idea - a New York City style bodega with bacon egg and cheese, egg on a roll, blts, etc., but all completely vegan! The deli does have two separate grills for vegan and non-vegan food. The food was pretty good, for a deli. It wasn't really like a restaurant style, but it was priced really cheap and the service was fast and convenient. I would come here again if I lived closer.

This is your typical go to bodega in the city! I got #13 (the dead end) which has chicken cutlet, lettuce, tomato, bacon, Mayo. It was $8.32. Will come again when I need a quick bite!

Vegan crunch wrap. It's sooo good, better than it looks!
Rebecca S.

The vegan crunch wrap is awesome, so tasty. And you get a generous portion of fries. I came when this place first opened and was really confused by the name (Vegan Deli and more), and now the new sign just says "Vegan Deli" but also "2 separate grills". I see non-vegans ordering off the regular menu all the time, so I guess they are not deterred by the sign that makes it seem like it's an all-vegan place. Somehow it all just works. Really grateful to be able to get veganized deli classics on the UES!

A vegan and regular deli in one with 2 separate grills- one for vegan items only and one for non vegan items. The staff is friendly. Food is made quick. Most importantly it is delicious. I have ordered the V1 (vegan blt) and V8 (beyond sausage sandwich) which are both my all time favorites. They are very fresh and satisfying without making you feel guilty of eating typical fast food sandwiches as all the ingredients are fresh and 100% vegan. I also appreciate that they offer delivery on the delivery apps and are open 6am-midnight daily for all your vegan (or non vegan) munchies.

Pretty good food. Didn't take too long. We were the only ones there so it was quiet and tidy. Could get easily crowded.

We ducked here to grab some nourishment before I became to hangry. Ordering takes place at the counter then grab a table. I had a 1/2 bowl of their "famous chicken soup" and 1/2 pastrami sandwich. Had good flavor and was enough to warm me up on this brisk morning. My niece did a bagel, and after trying all week she finally got one exactly how she wanted it made. We ate and chilled for a bit, no plans for the day other than making it to the airport to go home. Was able to people watch and catch up without feeling rushed to leave. Saw locals come through, so you know it is a place worth stopping. The staff were nice and even apologized for not being able to give me the soup I wanted in a half order. Date of visit: April 14, 2026…read more Our friend wanted to go to a real New York deli during her first trip to the city and this is the one in the vicinity of Times Square and our evening show that was the highest rated according to my fellow Yelpers, but I am not quite sure why based on our experience. Things did start out great, with Boudjema being very friendly and helpful as we placed our order. And once we got seated, we were able to fully appreciate the vibe, both in the primarily 70s playlist, but also the mirror and brass touches across the restaurant. Food-wise, however, there were some definite opportunities. My Roasted Turkey sandwich did come on quite possibly the best rye bread I have ever had, warm and flavorful. But while the gravy was also good, the turkey was cold. This odd temperature mismatch made it hard to appreciate the generous portion of meat on the sandwich. We also ordered some tater tots and those were quite good. While it definitely could have been worse--and I've had worse in New York City--this also could have been so much better.
