Persimmon leaf tea
Marandah R.

Visiting New York and wanted Korean vegan food. Franchia was amazing. The ambiance was peaceful, beautiful and intimate. I had the Persimmon Lead Tea, Lions Mane Bites, JaJiang Mian, scallion pancakes and Char Siu fried Rice. Service was excellent. Very helpful server answered all my questions. Refilled my water many many times. I never had persimmon leaf tea before. I loved the flavor of this tea. I loved the ceramic tea cup, strainer and lid. JaJiang Mian was very flavorful and tasted like the meat version. The lions mane bites were perfectly fried. The batter coating was just right. Not too heavy. I love Lione Mane. Scallion pancakes were 4 small pancakes. Which I liked because eating the large pancakes (jeon) that you normally get at a Korean restaurant is daunting. flavor was good. CharSiu fried rice tasted like the meat version. All the food was excellent. If you want Korean style vegan food this is the place. I highly recommend Franchia.

We went to Franchia Vegan Cafe at 12 Park Ave and it was absolutely top notch. The restaurant is in Murray Hill, and it feels like such a great find if you're looking for a really special vegan Korean / Asian-inspired restaurant in Manhattan. The space was super clean, calm, and had a vibe that felt authentic to the cuisine. The staff was also incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and fast, which made the whole experience even better. But the food is what really blew me away. I got the Korean Wild Green Tea First Picked, and it was unreal. Yes, it had that beautiful green tea character, but it was so much more layered than that--smooth, complex, almost naturally sweet, and honestly one of the most memorable teas I've had anywhere. I also ordered the iced matcha latte, and it was easily the best matcha latte I've ever had: no grittiness at all, just incredibly smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced. We also had the baby dumplings in spicy sauce, popcorn shrimp, fried Manchurian cauliflower, spicy kimchi pancakes, Peking duck baos, and the duck rice bowl. Every single dish was excellent. I'm still baffled by how well they nailed the shrimp texture--seriously impressive. The flavors across the board were rich, creative, and satisfying without feeling heavy. If you're in Murray Hill and want a standout vegan lunch or dinner, or you're just looking for one of the best plant-based restaurants in Manhattan, Franchia is absolutely worth going out of your way for. Highly recommend.

Nice vegan offering close to the hotel we were staying at. Place was packed on a weekday for lunch. The menu is pretty extensive with 4 pages of food including lunch specials. Everything from noodle soup to fried rice to all other different types of Asian cuisine is available on the menu. They also have a variety of different teas.

A fully vegan Korean restaurant situated right in the heart of Manhattan?! My west coast heart is pounding in jealousy and longing to return once again. It's often very hard to find restaurants that serve fully vegan Korean food so the fact that this exists is truly special. A lot of items will be vegetarian at best so to be able to have an extensive menu to order from is a treat. My friends and I came here for lunch and were seated fairly quickly in their hip restaurant. I ordered a couple of things: - Combination Pancakes consisting of sweet corn cilantro, scallion & spicy kimchi offerings. This was their take on traditional Korean jeon and I didn't realize they'd bring out so many small pieces for the table. My favorite was definitely the sweet corn cilantro. - Crispy Korean Chili Tofu Lunch Special, which included a soup and salad of the day as well as two additional banchan (including a pancake!) The tofu was fried to sweet perfection and the chili sauce was top notch. There ended up being more than enough food just from this alone. I hope this spot sticks around because I'll certainly be coming back to fill my Korean cravings without needing to play around with the menu at other restaurants.

Amazingly well! Cozy, classy ambiance. I came here for happy hour, and it was great. We had fried rice, pancakes and bao buns! The best part here is the ube coconut Creme brulee which was divine, it's the most memorable thing I've eaten here.

Fabulous vegan Korean food. Tasteful attentive service. Glass always filled with water. Food came out extremely quickly! Lots of delicious vegetables. We went on a Friday night and it was bustling and loud. Not the best place for a romantic date night but fine for a nice dinner in the city. Sauces were tasty. Appreciated how clean the restaurant was and the vibe was cool. People seemed happy to be there. Would absolutely recommend. There are at least ten more meals I would like to come back and have here. I think they could up their mocktail game.

Vegetarian 'Duck' Bibimbap or Stone Bowl

Solid food, good portions, and attentive staff. The restaurant layout is interesting and reminiscent of a loft with high ceilings. We came in on a weekend evening without reservations and were promptly seated on the second floor. Food: - Dumplings Combo: comes with 3-4 pieces each of mixed vegetable, japchae, and kimchi dumplings. We ordered them fried and they were incredibly crunchy. Personally I would order them steamed next time. The kimchi dumplings were our favorite. - Vegetarian 'Duck' hot stone bowl: super filling and a safe option.

What a lovely restaurant. Vegan Asian. The decor is stunning. It's a quiet clean restaurant. Perfect for date night. The menu is massive. Food was delicious. Service was prompt. I'll be back again soon to eat my way through the menu.

The first time I came here I don't recall being overly impressed, but I came again recently with my aunt for a late lunch and I was pleasantly surprised at not only the attentive service, but the quality of food. The restaurant itself is lovely with an upstairs and downstairs decorated authentically. We shared several apps, some sushi, and a couple of desserts. We left with full hearts and full stomachs, and I keep telling other friends and family they have to come visit!

Optimal dining: efficient and unique for its ability to offer vegan dishes that come extremely well spiced. The ambience is nice as well, reminiscent of a chic Asian restaurant that is often found in more cosmopolitan parts of Manhattan. The menu is quite big and it is not difficult to get a table even on a busy night. Staff provide efficient table service and the meal portions are decent. There is an upstairs balcony area that is cozy if you're planning to switch things up with your dining experience, too. Overall this spot is dependable and full of healthy dishes.

Warm cozy place. I loved their ambiance. We had not made reservations but since we reached at 4 pm we got a table. Otherwise, it felt like it was busy even on the weekdays. We ordered sushi - a delicious volcano roll. The second was a rainbow roll which was ok. Another appetizer we ordered was fried calamari- that was good. For the main course, we order basil noodles - yum! Spicy franchia noodles - good. Soy chicken sizzler on a hot stone plate - too good. For drinks, we ordered a Ube latte - so good!! & Thai iced tea - it was ok. All in all great experience!!

Sizzling Bulgogi Plate

This is an interesting multi Asian vegan restaurant in midtown off Park by 34th. Food (4.25/5) - Sizzling Bulgogi Plate - it was a tasty beef mixture with tender vegetables especially the shiitake mushrooms. Good marinate and came out hot and sizzling. I was with a group and didn't get a chance to try some of the other dishes but other had good reviews for the Buddha's Delight and Malaysian Chicken Curry. Service (3.75/5) It was a bit on the slower side. Courteous enough but nothing exceptional. Atmosphere (4.25/5) It's an interesting tiered layout and darker intimate lighting. Options for both groups and couples. Overall (4/5) Worth trying out and a strong variety of different types of Asian foods... and vegan options. Will repeat.

Sat at a high top by the bar and had a fairly light dinner. The Beef Tartare comes out with a cracked quail egg for you to pour into the meat yourself and the beef sat on top of sone sliced pear. It's a small appetizer but it tasted fresh and clean, the crispness of the pear matches well with the heaviness of the beef. The cured shrimp was delicious, I'm sad there was only 3 because I wanted 5 servings of it. The uni, roe, and soy shrimp practically melted in your mouth. The Uni Bimbimbap has rave reviews and I can see why. It was filling without being overly heavy and each bite had uni in it after mixing it up. If you're unsure about uni, this is definitely a great way to introduce yourself to it's flavor palette.

I like my bacons a bit more soft and chewy, which was how it was made in this dish - it was a blend of rice and ramyun but i didnt really see the value in adding the ramyun since they were very tiny bits that were softer than i liked - what i wished the dish could focus more on would be to have more ramyun flavor and seasoning mixed in the rice because it tasted more like regular spicy oil fried rice - i liked the dish and it's on the right track for that ramyun flavored fried rice but it's a bit faint right now and can use more kick soy glazed bossam ($36) - i was never too big on bossam because the ones ive had before were plain and dry, but this one is different - seasoning was just right, bringing out the pork's natural richness and fatty aroma without being overly marinated, too dry, or greasy - im a fan especially the pickled radish that came with it; it's my favorite meat pairing rather than a simple cabbage or kimchi salad - it also came with kimchi salad but it was too crunchy, hard, and dry for my liking rating: 4.6/5 - overall still one of my top korean restaurants in nyc because the perilla oil noodles and hojok galbi were just phenomenal; id say skip the ramyun but definitely order the perilla oil and hojok galbi - insanely fast service and welcoming; got our food minutes after ordering!
