Loved loved loved. Wish the service was slower so we could enjoy the dining experience. But food was intensity amazing. As was service.

4.5/5 stars Would love to give it 5 stars but some of the items were a miss for me. First, I'm so happy I got to try Omakase and have this experience as a vegetarian. Not only is the menu only $100 for a 15 course menu, but Chef Cam did an excellent job explaining the items and giving you a real experience. It is a little rushed over 1.25 hours but the food is worth it. The ambiance is great for special events such as birthdays or anniversaries as there are only 12 people there. They also provide sake shots for celebrations. Our favorite were the watermelon sushi and tofu based items. The soup was okay. Matcha donut was not that good. The flavors they created overall were impressive despite being vegan. I will definitely be returning for the fall/winter menu!

I love an omakase experience before the theater, because it's a quick meal, usually delicious, and there are so many omakase options in the Theater District. When I was visiting New York with my mom last week for a mother/daughter weekend, I was so happy to find Omakaseed, which offers plant-based omakase. My mom is vegan, and I loved that we could have this experience together before the theater. Their Bougie Vegan Omakase experience is a 60-minute, 15-course experience. (They also offer a $65 option on weekdays). I didn't love every course, but I really enjoyed most of them. They were creative and delicious, and I did appreciate the value of this omakase experience - they have to cook a lot of their courses (as opposed to traditional omakase which is mostly raw or torched seafood). My favorite courses were: Edamame Pani Puri (edamame truffle puree, charred cucumber salad, microgreens, pickled watermelon radish, and yuzu kosho vinaigrette); Tamagoyaki (rolled tofu egg and chili crisp); Spicy Watermelon Tartare (dehyrdated watermelon, spicy mayo, scallions on sushi rice); Crispy Broccoli Taco (crispy broccoli, peanut sauce, Nuoc Cham, on sushi rice); and Kuri Kinton Croquette (Japanese sweet potato with black plum sauce). I think the table sits about 10-12, so it was a typically intimate and social experience for omakase. The service was great, and I enjoyed the drinks I added to my experience (a flight of sake and one refreshing cocktail). Overall, it was a very enjoyable vegan omakase experience - delicious, creative, and fun! A great pre-theater dinner whether you're vegan or not.

Vegan omakase??? Sign me up! I saw a TikTok about this place and immediately got myself a reservation. Omakaseed is a cozy place in the lobby of the Sanctuary hotel. There were only 12 or 14 of us sitting at the table. We got the 11 course menu and had a great time eating everything. Some of the bites were really creative. My favorite was the spicy watermelon tartar and the crab hand roll. Food and service were great. If you're interested in unique vegan food then this experience is worth it.

This was such an amazing experience. As a vegetarian I didn't think it would be possible to ever do an omakase tasting but Omakaseed definitely made that possible. Ambiance: they have a beautiful set up. Every detail has been thought of including the dishware they serve each course in. The restaurant is small and intimate. You are sitting around a half oval table and there are no more than 12 to 14 diners at a time. You get to watch your chef make each of your dishes and they give you a detailed explanation before they serve it to you. Food: Every course got better and better as the night progressed. My favorite was the crispy tofu with stuffing inside. The tofu was perfectly salted and crispy and I loved the flavors inside. Each dish was carefully crafted and all the flavors complemented each other so nicely. It was also textured perfectly. Chef Cam was amazing and you could clearly see the passion he has for the food he makes. He puts a lot of thought into crafting the dishes and told us that they have a new menu every season to match the fresh vegetables available during that time. Service: service was great. They checked in on us often and seated us promptly. Price: considering the full experience and the amount of food, I would say this is a fair price. I highly recommend coming and eating here. It was such a memorable experience. For a list of other awesome veggie/vegan places in the city, feel free to message.

I did the 11 Course Tasting Menu. I've done an omakase tasting menu before in LA and had a wonderful experience, so was excited to have another experience! First I want to highlight that the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. I did not appreciate how rushed the service was. I was the only person dining at that hour, but it felt like I was served another course while I was still chewing or enjoying the previous one. This took away from my experience. I like to appreciate and savor the food without rushing into new flavors the second I'm done chewing (even with a pickled ginger palate cleanser). The night I went, the chef was actually from their fish (animal) sushi restaurant. He explained that both of the Omakaseed chefs called out. This was such a bummer because part of what I enjoy about these dining experiences are talking to the chef and hearing their explanations of the course. The chef did his best, but wasn't familiar with many of the items or questions I had (ex: I asked if something had liquid smoke, as it was a flavor I noticed, but he didn't know). The location was also in a weird spot. You walk through what looked like a sports bar, then off to the corner is Omakaseed. Their tiny space was beautifully set up and decorated with books, but it was a weird vibe. Even weirder was the security guard/bouncer looking staff who ended up being part of the Omakaseed staff who seated me and picked up dishes as courses were done. I still don't know if their job was to be a bouncer for the bars in the building or if they actually worked for Omakaseed. I was also surprised to have been charged for sparkling water. Upon seating I was asked if I wanted still or sparkling water. I chose sparkling, only to have been charged $8 for a bottle, which I was only informed of when I was paying the bill. If I knew I was going to be charged for water, I wouldn't have said sparkling. I truly only noticed this because despite choosing the 11 course tasting menu, the bill was much higher than expected before tip, and that was because of the water charge. If you're dining alone, I recommend bringing a book or something to occupy your time while you enjoy your meal. I wish I had brought my kindle!

I brought my husband here for his birthday dinner and we had a wonderful experience. I love that they have a small group of people seated at a time so that everyone gets the full experience and the chefs get to engage with the customers. The setting feels like you're sitting in a den/library which was unique. The food spoke for itself - very tasty and different and I loved that each dish stood out from the previous in flavors even though it was all vegan. I recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and new experience in the city, even if you're not vegan!

This was a very cool experience. The restaurant is pretty hard to find - there aren't any signs that lead to the single bar in the back of the first floor. But once we finally sat down, each of the 15 courses was wildly creative and used a variety of ingredients that really lean in to the fact that it's totally vegan. The chef was really great in explaining each and every one of the courses - he described each of the ingredients, how it was prepared, and how they work together to provide the experience of the course. Since everything is assembled at the counter, it was also cool to see how the dishes came together. For about $125 with tax and tip for person, the experience was totally worth it. The menu changes seasonally, so I'd love to go back to try a whole new set of dishes sometime.

    Ash B.

15 course vegan omakase I never thought I'd get to enjoy omakase as a vegetarian and so naturally I am so grateful that Omakaseed exists. Every single course was phenomenal. We were asked many times which course was our favorite but our answer kept changing -- thats how good everything was. This restaurant is tucked away inside a hotel in the middle of Times Square so it's worth making a pit stop for. Keep in mind they do try to start on time so it's important to arrive as close to your reservation start time as possible. They change the menu every 3 months so rest assured I will be coming back in the fall.

AMAZING!!! One of the best vegan food we ever had! Full of flavor, creativity, color and surprises on each dish. 14 courses of excitement and happiness in a beautiful, cozy and charming place. The chef was very nice and gave a very nice explanation of each dish as he served us. Everybody was very pleasant and efficient. They change the menu seasonally so I definitely want to come back on summer! Definitely a 10 Love it love it love it!

I'm not a vegetarian, but my friend is vegan and we went here to try the vegan omakase of NYC. This place is made by the same people as Sushi by Bou, so there's true sushi craftsmanship behind all these dishes, and I was delighted to see how creative and artfully crafted everything was made. They really do as much as they can to highlight different flavors and textures while making it entirely vegan. I was particularly impressed by the wagyu watermelon, the spicy "tuna," the handrolls, the "eel" and tofu pocket taco. While there was variety, if I compare it to non-vegetarian omakase, I can't say that I enjoyed it as much. However, for vegetarians/vegans, I think this place meets a need that is hard to find, and if you are vegetarian/vegan I would definitely come here for an artful and skillful experience. You could tell the chef really cared about what he was doing, and you feel that in this intimate dining setting.

This was such an amazing experience! The food was all so amazing and unique. Especially as someone who is not vegan and loves sushi, I was blown away by these vegan dishes. I loved the setting of the restaurant to look like a library, it was super cute. Our chef was also very interactive and taught us about a lot of different ingredients. The only thing I didn't love was how quick it was, it's an hour seating and they really stick to it. I wish it could be maybe a 90 minute seating or even 75 minutes to get a little break between some courses. But overall great experience and worth the money. The chef also told us they will be rotating the menu around every few months so I'm excited to go back and try a new menu!

Came by for the bougie tasting option to try out plant based omakase. The location is a bit chaotic right off Times Square. However the interior is done very well and there's a slight "speakeasy" vibe since there isn't signage and the sushi bar is tucked away in the back of a hotel bar. The ambiance is great - dark and upscale like you're eating in a hidden study. It's a very similar vibe to other sushi by Bou locations. Extensive drinks and cocktails menu. Service was attentive. The service started about 10 minutes over. We were about two minutes late to our reservation and received a call right as we were walking into the hotel. They are pretty strict about on time arrivals. The seatings are small format with room for maybe 8-10 people. The chef we had was very engaged and clearly passionate about his menu and selections. He constantly asked for feedback and opinions and was generally very fun to talk to. I liked how everything was sushi inspired but nothing was trying to be "fake fish". Instead the chef did a great job of bringing out individual flavors of all the different starches, vegetables and other items served. The sauces were all fantastic and really added to the flavor complexity. Pricing is a bit steep. The bougie option was $100 per which is high considering you can get regular seafood omakase in NYC for that price. However the experience feels elevated and unique so it ended up worth it.

The Katsu is the star and I think what sets this place apart is that they offer Berkshire pork katsu as an option. Arguably some of the best pork, it's great to have the option if you're looking to heighten the experience. I love their pork katsu and go nuts over the chicken katsu curry. It's super crispy, slightly greasy but never off-putting. And it's served with the most delicate and delicious cabbage slaw. I could eat a mountain of this it's so good. Highly recommended.

It came with cabbage (with a sesame ginger type dressing), daikon radish (with some type of sauce on top), and the standard sauce for the tonkatsu, along with some crushed sesame seed and hot mustard. I'd have to say...the tonkatsu was quite good....not quite as sublime as my favorite tonkatsu place in Tokyo...but still, very, very good. The dish also came with a bowl of miso soup (good, and not overly salty) and a bowl of white rice, which I considered the most disappointing part of the meal. The rice seemed a bit dried out...not moist.... All in all, an excellent meal. I'd definitely come back.

The Ankimo came with three pieces of monkfish liver and scallions in a ponzu wasabi sauce. It was a nice start to the meal, with its creamy texture and rich flavor. The Age Tofu came with three cubes of fried tofu that had a slightly chewy exterior and a pillowy soft interior. The bonito flakes and dashi broth gave it a punch of flavor. It was my first time ever having Mentaiko Pasta, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was creamy and the spiciness of the cod roe sauce was subtle--it kind of creeps up on you after a few bites and gives the dish a little kick. I felt like the cod roe flavor shone through, and the bacon added another dimension to it. The Hotate Carpaccio came with 6 slices of Hokkaido scallops, ikura, and a mustard soy dressing. It was a delicate dish that I enjoyed, especially after the heavier Mentaiko. The Cold Soba Green Tea was my favorite dish. It was so refreshing. All the ingredients went very well together--the green tea noodles had a good bite, the salmon sashimi was very fresh, the ikura added a nice brininess when you pop them, and the dashi broth provided a nice backdrop to the dish. The sashimi in the Kaisen Don was fresh, and came with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, octopus, and ikura. The dessert menu is found at the end of the drinks menu. We got one of each dessert: the sweet potato balls with hojicha ice cream, cheesecake with yuzu sorbet, and black sesame ice cream with red beans. The sweet potato balls were SOOO GOOD--crispy exterior and chewy interior, with just the right touch of sweetness. The hojicha ice cream was so good. We regret not having ordered an extra set of the sweet potato balls. The cheesecake was a little dry, but had these little rice crispies on top that gave a nice textural change. The yuzu sorbet was a good palate cleanser. The black sesame ice cream was rich and creamy, and the red bean sauce added an extra layer of sweetness. Sozai is a great place to share a few dishes. I definitely want to come back to check out the lunch specials.

The tuna from the bone is the most famous dish here, but I was not able to get it as they sell out very fast.
