Sushi, crab Rangoon. Cucumber salad, tomatoes, lo mien, snow crab salad, sweet and sour chicken, spicy Mayo

I have been working on this fun little piece about Chinese buffets being a staple of American culture, the difference in products and food styles, the nostalgic feeling of walking up to the buffet...... I've eaten at several buffets around the New Orleans area for this piece. I'm going to take a little break after this location. Chopstix in Gretna.... I don't know what I ate that just made me pray to a trashcan while sitting on the porcelain god. I enjoyed my time there. The staff was friendly. The food wasn't bad.... But not the best. It definitely wasn't worth the time I just spent speaking to Jesus. I guess the nap after was nice. I won't be in again.... Even though you are close to work for me 2/10 you get one for the sweet staff and the other one for putting out fresh crab Rangoon while I was there. #neveragain

The crawfish is under seasoned. So is the fried rice and chicken wings. I feel like $20 is high to eat off paper plates and plastic utensils. But some of the food was good.

a variety of sushi and rolls

The servers work together and they have all been there since opening, according to Miss Shirley, who was kind enough to chat with us for a while. Our server was so friendly and helpful. (Vanessa I think is her name) the bartender even stopped by! So much hospitality!!! The food was fantastic! We tried dragon dumplings, sliced pork, egg rolls, shu mai and everything was delicious! Very fresh! We will be back, maybe today!

She remembered us the second time and asked why our daughter wasn't with us. When we told her she was busy with a school event Ms. Shirley packed up a full order of dumplings (on the house) because she remembered how much our daughter enjoyed them. Lets talk vegetables...fresh...fresh...and fresh!!! Ambiance is upbeat and clean, people overall seem happy to wait to get a table because the majority of those that we spoke with are return diners. That in of itseld speaks volumes to the loyalty we locals have for Ms. Shirley! Many of us have been fans of Ms. Shirley since her ownership of Royal China in Metairie! Ms. Shirley we hope you see this review! You are like the friendly grandmother that so many of us miss in our lives! Thank you for feeding us from your heart!

I love coming here for lunch or grab a Go To goodies to bring home to enjoy while watching Netflix…read more My favorite here are the Cho-Chos and Pepper Steak. My last visit I ordered dinner for the family and we all shared the dishes. Everything taste fresh and every bite had my tongue dancing with flavor.

The name may have shortened, but the experience is still just as memorable. From the outside, you're not really sure what you're about to walk into. You get a hint of the Asian aesthetic, but you don't realize how immersive it's going to feel. Then you open the door. Right at the entrance is a koi fish pond with a small bridge over it. No, you can't walk across the bridge, but the koi are real, and you walk right by them on your way to the dining room. It immediately sets the tone. The dining room itself feels like you've stepped straight into China. The decor, the lighting, the details, everything transports you. It matches the cuisine and elevates the entire dining experience. The waitresses are incredibly sweet, respectful, patient, and kind. They answered all of my questions about the menu without hesitation and made sure we felt comfortable. The service feels authentic and attentive without being rushed. I ordered the boneless chicken with vegetables, fried rice, and egg rolls. The homemade egg rolls are always my favorite. You can absolutely tell they're hand rolled and not pulled from a freezer. The boneless chicken is made with hand cut chicken breast, and the batter is soft and flaky. It almost melts in your mouth. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The portion sizes are generous. It's definitely a eat now, eat later, and maybe even share with a friend kind of place. If you've only ever ordered takeout from here, you are missing half the experience. Sit down inside and take it all in. It's one thing to eat Chinese food. It's another thing to feel like you've been transported while doing it. This place leaves an impression.

The restaurant was really beautiful and always crowded before Hurricane Katrina. It saddens me that things are not the same. The decor is very plain. However, the food has not changed. I'd recommend Egg Drop Soup, Banh Hoi Thit Nuong, Banh Tam Bi Xiu Mai, Canh Chua, and Ca Kho Tho. The egg drop soup is a delicious appetizer my siblings and I always enjoy together. I always have to ask for more crackers though, and the shape of the crackers are inconvenient because you can't use it to scoop the soup. The Banh Hoi Thit Nuong is my all time favorite. You have to request for it to come with rice paper, cucumbers, and pickled vegetables. I love rolling it into spring rolls. It comes with fresh leafy vegetables a nuoc mam. Banh Tam Bi Xiu Mai is delicious, but it sometimes comes out colder than expected. I used to eat it like crazy as a child. The coconut milk gives it a sweet yet savory flavor. Canh Chua Ca and Ca Kho Tho go hand in hand with my family, and it is my grandma and grandpa's favorite meal, especially during lent. The Canh Chua is not too sour, despite its name, and goes perfectly with plain rice and the strong flavors that com with the Ca Kho Tho. All my Ca Kho Tho's are compared to the one here. It is cooked in a clay pot, which is how it should be. The sauce is caramelized and thick, coating the pieces of fish with a spicy and sweet flavor.
