This was the first time my family and I tried this spot. Food was plentiful and cooked to order. Service was great. Everything taste delicious and reasonably priced. We will be back in the near future!

This restaurant really is a hole in a wall. I was a little skeptical when I arrived here because of how sketchy the outside was and how outdated the inside was, but the service was still nice and the food was really good. We got the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings ($13.00), the Beef Chow Fun ($17.00), and the Roasted Duck Noodle Soup ($13.00). All three dishes were freshly made and had huge portions. Hong Minh isn't a fancy place, but I'd still give it a chance if you haven't tried it before.

Small, hole in the wall restaurant tucked away in the back on Manhattan. As you drive up, there's a display window with hanging roasted ducks and possibly a male figure standing there cutting roasted pork for orders. It's ran by a family that seem to work together for every position needed. So don't be alarmed if you see a young child walking around or an auntie sitting around. My favorite dishes are of course the roasted duck, roasted pork, and noodle soup with roasted duck. The duck is sold by half order or whole and pork sold by the pound. The soup is flavorful and is complimented well with the protein. I usually order takeout but decided to dine in today. Had the salted fish and chicken fried rice, stir fried green veggies, ga quy phi (empress chicken), and duck. Rice was good, not too salty. Warning..the chicken is served cold, so order accordingly. It came with a sauce to dip with but it's not your type of dish if you can't get over the whole temperature thing. Overall, everything was delicious.

Found Hong Minh through other Yelp reviews and decided to try them for lunch. The service was good. I only waited about 5 minutes after ordering. I ordered a broccoli /chicken plate, fried bun, and vegetable spring rolls to-go. I spent $20. The plate came with rice. I did not care for the fried rice. I could not stop eating the spring rolls and wish I would have ordered more than one bun. The bun reminded me of a meat pie; it was flaky. I would go back just for those two items!

I grew up in NYC loving the food in Chinatown, so when a local friend suggested we have lunch at Hong Minh in nearby Harvey, I thought "oh no, suburban Chinese food... blah." I quickly shed my preconceptions once food started arriving at our barebones table in a plain-Jane dining room in this nondescript strip mall. Dang! This is easily up there with the best Chinese food you'll find anywhere in the country. Highlights include BBQ pork, roasted duck, salt & pepper string beans and Singapore mei fun. I asked one of the owners who was taking a break from hacking up roast ducks what part of China they were from and he said "Hong Kong and Taiwan, NOT China." Take that, China and preconceptions!

    Empress chicken - the BEST!

Great food served fast! Typical hole in the wall and family run restaurant. So lower expectations in terms of ambiance and decorations - and enjoy the simple great food! Empress chicken is the BEST I've ever had ANYWHERE! The meat was so flavorful even without using the ginger and scallion sauce. Great roast pork - delicious flavor and served over pickled carrots and daikon which complements the saltiness of the pork. Wonton soup was also tasty. Wonton skin was perfect - not too thin and not too thick. Perfect to eat with the BBQ meats. Flat noodles with beef - tasty loads of beef but noodle was too broken. Overall - great Chinese BBQ spot and will come back again next time I'm in NOLA.

This place is SO DANG GOOD! We went a little nuts with the menu and came home with like 14 boxes of food, but every single thing was so bomb. My faves were the Mongolian beef, Udon noodles, lo mein, the spring rolls, and omggg the Thai tea *drooooool*. The outside is a bit run down, but don't judge a book by its cover. The staff was fantastic and quick, and parking was ample. Perfect rainy day lunch (followed by several days of yummy leftovers!). COVID hours are 9am-5pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Masks are mandatory! Will definitely be back very, very soon!

This is definitely not your average Chinese restaurant. Service was very friendly, the food very good, the price is very reasonable. Went with a friend we had the generals chicken, Mongolian beef, potstickers, and a epic 3 meat combo plate that was not on the menu but the waitress let us know about. They also have a great lunch special prices.

A fellow Yelp friend brought me here for lunch last weekend as it is one of his favorite eateries. Owned by a family that all works together in the restaurant, Hong Minh has the reputation of being the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the area. It's a modest space but fairly large with roast ducks hanging in the front. One of the owners, Dave, recommended we try the mandarin chicken and Mongolian beef dishes. We added the dumplings to round out our meal. The chicken was a yellow skinned, cold chicken that was cleavered into pieces and served with a ginger garlic oil sauce. It was savory and pleasant on a hot day. The Mongolian beef was a $9.50 lunch special that came with white rice and a small veggie egg roll - it was a huge portion and I could only eat half of it. The beef was a less sweet, more savory, saucier version than I have had and it was excellent with tender pieces of meat and veggies. I would definitely get this dish again! The dumplings were good but deep fried and I prefer a steamed or pan fried version, but that's a personal preference. The staff (family) was warm, friendly and helpful with our choices with Dave taking some time to chat with us at the end. This place is a great little treasure over on the Westbank. It was worth the trip.

This is probably my 4th or 5th time here. The food and service is always great. The salt and pepper wings are me and my friends favorite to get here. The potsticker was also really good (it has pork). Their thai tea is delicious too. Usually I get something different every time I come, so I got the fried udon and it was good, of course. The portion size was very large too. I was only able to eat half of my food. They don't really have desserts, but I seen in the front of the restaurant pictures of mango coconut jelly (I believe) and omg it was 10/10. Side note: The parking lot is almost always full because the restaurant is connected to a store. In case you cannot find one in front or on side the restaurant, there is a small parking space across the street (with the yellow rail).

Always always always amazing. The food is always great and the staff is always so nice. Price has gone up but that is every where in this economy.

The name may have shortened, but the experience is still just as memorable. From the outside, you're not really sure what you're about to walk into. You get a hint of the Asian aesthetic, but you don't realize how immersive it's going to feel. Then you open the door. Right at the entrance is a koi fish pond with a small bridge over it. No, you can't walk across the bridge, but the koi are real, and you walk right by them on your way to the dining room. It immediately sets the tone. The dining room itself feels like you've stepped straight into China. The decor, the lighting, the details, everything transports you. It matches the cuisine and elevates the entire dining experience. The waitresses are incredibly sweet, respectful, patient, and kind. They answered all of my questions about the menu without hesitation and made sure we felt comfortable. The service feels authentic and attentive without being rushed. I ordered the boneless chicken with vegetables, fried rice, and egg rolls. The homemade egg rolls are always my favorite. You can absolutely tell they're hand rolled and not pulled from a freezer. The boneless chicken is made with hand cut chicken breast, and the batter is soft and flaky. It almost melts in your mouth. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The portion sizes are generous. It's definitely a eat now, eat later, and maybe even share with a friend kind of place. If you've only ever ordered takeout from here, you are missing half the experience. Sit down inside and take it all in. It's one thing to eat Chinese food. It's another thing to feel like you've been transported while doing it. This place leaves an impression.

The restaurant looks like it's straight out of China, one of those spots where you already know the food is about to slap just from walking in. Food: We ordered the combination fried rice, sweet and sour fried fish, handmade egg rolls, and an order of Cho's, and everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The combination fried rice was packed with meat and shrimp, well-seasoned, and not greasy. The sweet and sour fried fish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, with a perfect balance of sweet and tangy sauce. The handmade egg rolls were a standout, crispy, flavorful, and clearly made in-house, not frozen. The Cho's were also delicious and added a nice variety to the meal. Portions were generous and very satisfying, making it a great lunch spot if you're hungry. Service: The waitress was attentive and friendly, checking on us regularly and making sure everything came out quickly and correctly.
