Recommended by a co-worker; just around the corner for me and totally unnoticed in its small strip mall location. This started out as a 4-star review, but after finishing it, I realized I did not have a single drawback to mention about this visit, so here goes... Called out for 2 roasted pork eggrolls, wonton soup, crab rangoons (5), and beef mai fun. $29 with tax w/o tip, and ready within 5 min of the promised time for pick up. Loved that sauces & plasticware were on the side; hate to waste what I won't use. Eggrolls were tasty and properly cooked all the way through. Rangoons tasted homemade, were large and came with ample sweet & sour sauce. Wonton soup came with crispy strips, and there were plenty of wontons for the amount of broth. VERY yummy. Beef mai fun was just what I was craving. Lots of tender beef, not tons of veggies. (Okay, maybe a few more veggies would have been nice.) Reheated easily since there was no way I could finish any of what I ordered in one sitting. I made 3 meals out of it. Service was very nice and friendly. Order was well packaged and easy to unpack and repack. Cardboard was even used to make sure my mai fun container wasn't crushed. For cheap Chinese food this place is great. It's not as good as some of the more expensive places but it's way cheaper.

This little place has some excellent food!! I would never have tHought to try it but I work nearby and a co worker suggested it. The lo mein is delicious, as is the General tso chicken. The crab Rangoon are excellent as well. The only thing I have not loved is the rice. The prices are great. Definitely worth a try! read more

The boyfriend and I have gotten takeout from the China King many times since moving into our house in Marrero. Yeah, it's the typical quick serve Chinese menu that you find at every other Chinese takeout place. However, the employees do seem to enjoy what they are doing. It also never takes longer than 10 minutes to prepare an order, no matter how much food you order. The latest trip, a few days ago, involved me ordering a ton of family-style dishes and a combo meal. Everything was perfect. It's also really cheap considering how much food they give you. We had leftovers for days. Chopsticks available upon request. Fortune Cookies are given out with the food. Condiments are placed on the counter a couple of feet from the cash register. read more

Tried this spot because It's near my house and I was feeling adventurous. Honestly I didn't expect much after reading the reviews but I did get the Crab Rangoons since the reviews all said they were the best. I also ordered Kung Pao Shrimp with Fried Rice and Chicken Wings. The wings were good, may consider another visit just for the wings. The Crab Rangoon tasted like they were full of cream cheese and not crab, so safe to say I didn't enjoy them. The Kung Pao was all celery, baby corn and green peppers in this thick brown sauce (just not what I'm used to) but it did come with an egg role. As for the Shrimp Fried rice, it was missing a lot of ingredients normally found in most rices. It was literally just shrimp and rice, so if you're into that you'll be pleased. Not gonna say I won't ever be back because the price was great. I got all that stuff for $20, but I'll be sticking to fried wings, maybe the fried rice and I may try the shrimp toast next time. China King has consistently been our go to place for great food. One of the pluses is that they get the order correct. After about ten or more visits it's clear that they know every element of their cuisine. Prices are reasonable and you aren't going to do much better anywhere on the WB for Chinese. read more

This little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant is pretty damn good! It's right on Barataria Boulevard near Cousins Boulevard, a little down and across from the Marrero-Ragusa Fire Station. We've popped in here a few times over the last couple of years and it was semi-OK. Recently though, we went in again to get some food and there seems to have been a few changes made - all for the better! Granted, some items are little cheaper and some went a little higher, BUT... they give you an enormous amount of food for the price. They do the To-Go orders in Pints and Quarts. An order of Sweet and Sour Pork, as a Quart, is enough for almost 3 meals if eaten with rice and an eggroll. The Mei-Fun comes in an aluminum pie pan dish and it's overfull so much that the top they have have to use a rubber-band on it to help keep it closed. No matter what anyone might say about the place, you can't claim that they don't give you enough food for the money. We've been back a few times in the past 2 weeks and it seems that our experience there wasn't a fluke. Yay! read more

Just placed an order over phone... the lady who answered the phone was extremely rude. Before we decided to call, we looked over the menu and read the reviews and wrote down everything we wanted to order to make it an easy process for both parties.The lady treated us like we were stupid. Kept telling us to refer to the menu after we asked what kind of soups they had available. We told her we were looking on the yelp menu and they didn't have any on there. It's like she did everything in her will not to tell us the soups. She was very short with us. Hopefully the food will be better than the service! read more

I have not tried anything else here except for the Crab Rangoons, Vegetable Spring Rolls, and Eggrolls. The Crab Rangoon did not have much imitation crab meat in them, but the flavor was good. The other appetizer items are just your standard frozen items. Not too bad if you want a quick bite. The people are always nice. read more

Three words: OH my goodness! This place is a gem, and I don't even think the residents of the area understand how much of a gem it is. I came to this place for lunch after work one day and it was the best decision I've ever made! Thank God for theatre sisters. I ordered the steamed veggies with no sauce and a pint of shrimp fried rice! Guys, when I say this is the best steamed veggie bowl I've ever had....I'm not exaggerating. What I appreciate the most about this place is the open kitchen. You can see them preparing the food in the kitchen while you wait. The veggies are always fresh and the rice is the bomb!!! The only downside to this is the location. If you don't live across the river near Barataria or you don't know someone that knows this side of the river, you may get lost. However, the restaurant doesn't lose stars because of this so the trip is worth it! Use the maps app on your phone and make the trip! You won't regret it. Wow is all I can say. I buy dinner from here once a week for my family. They are never disappointed. The portions are really good. I also use them for catering. I was the talk of the party for showing up with a pan of their house rice. Everyone wanted to know where I got it from.
