After losing our favorite Chinese restaurant in Gretna due to multiple food poisoning complaints, we were desperate to find really good (not just decent) Cinese food, and I'm absolutely thrilled to say we have found it at 7 Woks. And yes, it's worth the drive to Kenner. Made fresh and quickly - no oily, greasy residue, no stale taste, no dry brittle rice, it was all fresh, fast, NO MSG, and absolutely lush. And huge plus, no after effects... you know what I mean. Oh and huge portions, so we were able to do family style. My absolute favourite find here is the Crawfish Fried Rice which I didn't even know existed before now. And now I'm obsessed. read more

Best hole in the wall place for Chinese food in Kenner/Metairie area. My husband introduced me to this restaurant over a decade ago and we continue to order food from here at least a few times every month. We usually order the combo plates, chicken on the stick, and crab rangoons. We find the food is consistent, hot, and fast. I never knew freshly cooked General Tso chicken was supposed to be crispy and then covered in sauce until I tried it here. Pretty good Chinese I'd say. The place is clean and has about 100 menu items, it seems. 2 large orders came out pretty fast in about 8 minutes. Vegetables are crunchy but cooked through and meat was tender. More importantly the dishes tasted good and not too salty. I ordered Hunan beef and Singapore mai fun. 2 large for twenty bucks, not too bad. Also white rice is good too, most Chinese place has dry crumbly broken long grain rice, this place has moist steamed rice that I like. Either that or I just got lucky. The man greeted me and was very helpful and nice! He threw in some free sugar biscuits yall!! (My country butt don't know what they are called). Fast forward to grub dub town, I got a little of everything. THIS SHIIIZ WAS ROLLLLIIIIN. The damn dumplings are probably some of my favorite ones I've had thus far. The sauce that comes with it I-.....I will bathe in that crap. I ordered fried shrimp and some crab rangoon. The shrimp were freaking huge like it's hilarious bc you look at it like who tf is going to eat this big a** shrimp?!? Me, it's me I'm eating it. The food was STILL hot and I live 20 minutes away so it was packaged well, highly appreciated. The general tsos chicken was good I look forward to trying new dishes. I gave 4 stars bc tbh the egg rolls could use a bit of work. The cabbage wasn't tender enough super chewy and the egg roll skin was a little too thick/tough as well. Also a few of the shrimp had a little bit of the intestines still at the end but it was fine just a pinch to take it out so look for that. So to sum it all up I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. The food here is delicious and the people are always nice. I've picked up food here several times for my daughter and I and have never been disappointed. There are a few small tables available for dining in, but honestly I think they're designed to be a take out establishment. It's way too bright too eat there for me. It actually reminds me a lot of when you walk inside a Wingzone to order food. I wouldn't consider dining there either. But if you're in the mood to phone your order in and pass by and pick it up, then this is definitely a worthwhile stop. The numerous times I've called in an order, it's always been ready within the ten minutes it takes me to motivate myself to get up and take the ride over there. I struggle with getting Chinese food because I've seen some establishments with filthy kitchens. I come here because I've seen their kitchen, and it is kept clean. Unfortunately, the fried rice is different from what you get most places. It doesn't taste bad, but it also doesn't satisfy my craving for fried rice, and there isn't much pork/shrimp in it. The chicken (what I usually get) in the dishes is a good white meat, and the packaging/presentation is better than the other Chinese take out places around.
