Ordered 6 dinner combo plates +3 appetizers for Easter, picked up got home only 5 meals. All of the meals consisted of the same tasteless fried chicken meat with no vegetables. The only meal that we could distinguish was the sesame chicken had sesame seeds each of the meals were supposed to be something different. No sauce was on the meal. There were two containers of some unknown sauce that did not go with anything that we ordered. The only one that we knew what it was was the sweet-and-sour chicken with no vegetables. Probably one of the worst Chinese food meals I've had ever. The food is plentiful but tasteless. read more

I used to pick up from Young's a few times a month, and I never had any complaints - good food and lots of it. Due to schedule changes, I picked up last night for the first time in about six months - and it was disappointing to say the least. The eggrolls, fried rice, and fried wonton were fine. The sweet and sour chicken (all white meat) was decidedly NOT fine. Some pieces of chicken were so tough it was impossible to chew them. Others were gummy because the batter wasn't cooked all the way. It was downright disgusting. We tossed it all. $40 down the drain, and I won't be going back. read more

So we have eaten here since before hurricane Katrina and always had great things to say. The portion size is also more than you can eat for lunch and dinner. The decorations are beautiful and the restrooms are clean. What has been slacking lately is the service. The young girl behind the counter is so rude it is terrible. I don't mind paying for my food but please do not talk to me any kind of way and think that it is OK because you are behind the counter. My husband said it's like spending our money to have the food thrown at us. I still go back from time to time, but it's never with my husband because he refuses to go back. This place is a throw back to old time American/Chinese food. I ordered pork fried rice to go and 6 people could have eaten it and still had leftovers. The dumplings are really good. I got the fried ones, which was odd for me but they were perfect. Slight crunch but still a little chewy. The pork stuffing was very flavorful. I have since been back a few times trying something new each time. I can't finish this without mentioning the sauce for the dumplings. Killer, says it all. I put that stuff on the rice and couldn't stop eating it the first night I ate leftovers. A little pricey with apps going for 9 - 13 $'s and entrees $16 - 30 with most entrees in the high teens. The service here is horrible. The supervisor "Tu" does whatever she wants and allows her employees to do whatever they want. My grandmother walked into this establishment and ordered orange chicken with a plate of lo mein. They explained the orange chicken is not on the lunch plate menu. It comes by itself. So she asked for a sesame chicken lunch plate then with a plate of lo mein since she couldn't get the orange chicken as a lunch plate.They decide to give her a lemon chicken plate and also decide to make my grandmother pay for all three things,not just the two she ordered, but their mistake as well. I called to speak to supervisor about this and she was very rude and hung up in my face not once but twice. Out of respect for my grandma I did not get back ugly with her. As my grandmother comes here often for business and says herself that they are rude. The environment has a lot of tension with phones ringing off of the hook. We are from Laplace and she only likes this specific take out compared to all of the places in Laplace. This review does not even deserve one star considering their service is horrible. The supervisor is horrible. I don't care how good their food. They should've not done just what they wanted but have fulfilled the customers wishes/ what they paid for.I know this bc when I FaceTimed my grandma to tell the lady I clearly said sesame chicken and she was trying to show me a picture of some chicken without sesame,asking "this chicken?" Whenever I get a chance to come home (New Orleans) there a few spots I hit:. New Orleans Original Daiquiris, Cafe Du Monde, Young's Garden, The Triangle Deli and Cajun Seafood on Broad and Washington. On this trip Young's made one of my spots. Ordering was easy fast and friendly service for me. While waiting there was a senior gentleman (African American) who walked to register to ask a question about his order and was rudely dismissed by one of the younger asian women, then his wife (assuming) approached and stated they had been waiting over 25 mins for their order. Same rude person yelled "You want your money back! I give you your money back 3-5 business days!" Customer (senior lady) "Yes I want my money back, everyone got their order and we are still waiting for ours." The funny and correct part I loved about the exchange was at the end, the older lady snatched her receipt and took a calendar (given to customers after order is received). Young's worker - "Why you take a calendar?!" Older Lady - "Because I'm a Customer."...and she sashayed out the door. That's bad for business in today's society that type of rudeness will get you SHUTDOWN". Sorry Young's but I gotta mark you off my list. read more

I just got off the phone with a lady and she was very rude. I tried to ask a question about getting the shrimp kew in a healthier version and she didn't bother to answer and hung up the phone. I called again because maybe the phone disconnected. Same lady answered and I told her I needed to order as well. She said they don't take orders over the phone and hung up on me again. Who the heck do you think you are to treat customers with disrespect especially since we have ordered there in the past. The food might be good but your customer service over the phone was the worst I have experienced. This was around 12 today if the owner reads this. read more

Not the best but certainly not the worst. Located in a strip mall in Kenner, La; on Always busy Williams Blvd, one will find this restaurant. As soon as you walk in you're in the main dining room; this can be good or bad, depending on your spin on it. Good because you don't have to wait for someone to notice & greet you, because as the door open ALL WILL SEE YOU & bad because without a foyer, there's no discretion; so 6 one way 1/2 dozen the other. The food is, as stated, not the best, I found my fried rice to lack the "fried ricey flavor" that I so desperately longed to taste; how can you mess up fried rice, didn't know that that was possible; maybe this was an off day for the fried rice cooker. The shrimp in the shrimp dish were nice sized & tender, not over or under cooked. Veggies were good as well. The portion size was fair; enough to share if you're not 'starvin like marvin'. Placing our order was challenging though, after being seated we had to flag down a server to take our order; not cool at all. Maybe this was an off day for the servers as well. I didn't find them to be super busy, but maybe they were short staffed. Parking was easy, despite the shared parking situation, it seemed to be enough for the patrons represented inside. All in all, I do not see myself returning here anytime soon or in the next decade or two, lol. read more

I can't believe they have less than ten reviews for Young's. I love this place and think it is one of the best chinese restaurants in the city. I usually get their sesame chicken or mandarin soup (vegetable soup)!! Both are wonderful. I grew up eating youngs! HANDS DOWN THE BEST EGG ROLLS AND CRAB RANGOONS IVE EVER HAD. The egg roll is huge and filled with shrimp, flavor, veggies. It's not pictured here because I truly scarf it down 7 seconds after I get in my car from picking it up! The crab Rangoons have so much flavor and cream cheese. I'm so glad they're back open from the virus! Their rice is bomb.com its combination fried rice with big shrimp and veggies. No drink order! Got sweet tea, instead un sweet. The appetizers were good. The sesame chicken the breading was falling off, It was cold and dry like the desert, Had to go to the bar for refiles. Food is great. Service is horrible. I am a native of Metairie so I have gone to Youngs my entire life. This is the first time I have been back since the pandemic and I won't be back anytime soon. The entire pickup process was weird from being yelled at via a microphone and having a to interact through cardboard boxes. When many restaurants have been forced to close because of a drop in business, this one has stood the test of time. One would think that would make them a little nicer, but no. They yelled at the customers, including myself. Told many of us to "come now" after placing orders via phone only to make us go stand outside in the cold because the food wasn't done. I'll miss their shrimp fried rice, eggrolls, and eggdrop soup but I won't miss willingly giving someone money to talk to me disrespectfully or listen to them yell at others. read more
