When I visit my folks, this is one of our regular spots. The food is always good and the food comes out quickly. The service staff is very attentive and many of them are bilingual. This is helpful bc my parents prefer to speak Korean and my bro & I prefer to speak English. It is a must try spot in this area!

Was CRAVING tangsuyuk and jjajangmyeung so I needed to stop by. Super casual place and quick service. Ordered a medium pork tangsuyuk ($20) and a large jjajangmyeung ($15) to share with my bf. Also two miller lites ($4 each). Super large portions!! Jjajangmyeung was very easy to eat a lot of, the flavors are just right in my opinion. Noodles were so good. You can choose to have them cut for you or not. (I recommend getting them cut for easier eating). Tungsuyuk was addicting. The sauce was lightly sweet and so thick it coats the fried pork perfectly. The pork itself is like a chewy and crispy texture. So good. Mild in flavor as well, but easy to eat a lot of. Overall, a very reasonably priced place with quick friendly service. I will definitely come back when my next craving hits!

The last time I reviewed Choong Hwa Won was EIGHT whole years ago. I'm thrilled to share that they've maintained the impossibly high standards all these years. Ultimately, they have the most authentically delicious Korean fried rice and sweet and sour pork outside of Korea. OK, I admit I was unpleasantly surprised to find out they had started charging $3 for jajang sauce, but the fried rice for me isn't the same without it, and we come here so infrequently that it wasn't an issue at all. The service here has always been quick and 'professionally friendly.' Now I'm dreaming of that heavenly half 'N half bowl...

We went as a family of 6. It was bustling as usual and our food arrived quick. Make sure to check out seasonal specials on the walls. The black bean sauce noodles were better than a lot of other spots in the area. I also got spicy squid and it was delicious. They don't skimp on ingredients or amount so come hungry! The jjampong seafood soup was just the right amount of spicy. Nothing was incredibly great but better than average. The interior needs a serious facelift but I guess the rundown look is part of its charm? So I won't take a star off for that.

Love this place! I've been here multiple times, and it's consistently a great experience. The staff is super friendly and attentive, service is fast, and it's a homey vibe inside. I usually get the half and half with Jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce) and tangsuyuk (pork in sweet and sour sauce), and it's delicious! We also got their bulgogi which was a huge portion, and their fried dumplings, which were hot, crispy, and very good. I also love that hot tea and Korean sides (pickled radish, kimchi, etc) is included with your meal for free and unlimited! I'd definitely recommend this place for when you're craving a big, homey meal.

Best beef tangsuyuk in the DMV area. Perfectly crunchy and good portion size. Perfect sauce too. Jjajangmyun and jjampong were reliable. Not like AMAZINF but still good. Solid place to come for traditional Korean Chinese food. Good prices and relatively fast service. Comes with typical Korean side dishes (pickles radishes, onion, etc). Interior is traditional restaurant with plentiful seating. Workers speak Korean and English! Busy on the weekends, many Korean families come here.

The jjajangmyun was fantastic! My boyfriend's pork fried rice looked pretty good, too. The prices are way more reasonable than other places we went to for this trip. Service was really good and the banchan were delicious. Ambiance was family friendly!

TL;DR- consistently good Korean Chinese food! Been here over 5 times over the past couple of years! I love this homey spot! It definitely doesn't look fancy on the outside but the food quality is always consistent. If you've never tried Korean black bean noodles (jajangmyeon) I recommend this spot! Tip: Get the Gan- Jajangmeyon instead of the regular jajangmeyon. The sauce and noodles come in a separate bowl and you get a lot more onions, meat, etc.

We had a quick dinner in this place. When you enter the restaurant you will feel immediately the changed of ambiance in a good way, I feel like we were really in Korea. It is also really nice to have people around who speaks the language and also can easily converse in English. The food was pretty homey. We had a hot stone bibimbap and a jjampong with sweet and sour pork. The side dish was also amazing. Love the place and the vibes.

I came here craving some Korean food, and this place definitely did not disappoint. Food - the miso soup was very thick and rich to my liking, and the bulgogi was also pretty good. Service - good, they are very friendly Parking - there is a parking lot outside Overall, this place is great.

This is my first time having this dish and I chose to have a half and half with seafood was well. It was so filling and delicious! I love a balanced meal with vegetables.

Authentic Noodle dishes. The portions are generous and the service was prompt and friendly. The food is Chinese Korean so not the mainstream bbq that most people associate with Korean restaurants. The jjambong was spicy, flavorful and full of seafood. The ja jang myon was just the right consistency and flavor. This was served with raw onions and radish in vinegar to eat along your ja Jang myon. These dishes are traditionally seafood and pork and there are little to no deviations of it on the menu. If you want plain noodles or rice, that's about all there will be if you're not pork or seafood friendly. Just be warned. Keep in mind, that's how it's intended to be prepared so if you're up for that, try it out! It's great! That's what this place is known for. Lots of 4 top tables and on a normal day I imagine it quite busy. Not too loud however not a place for a large group to sit around and chat. You eat and then you get out so others can get their food :). We happened to pop in after a snow storm so it was empty. They do offer a lunch combo of half ja jang myon and Jjambong which was a generous amount to be able to try both classics. We also had the fried dumplings which were handmade and fried fresh. Tasty as well.

We have served takeout from here to US Ambassadors, and with nothing but compliments :) Super clean, super high quality food for the price point, run by polite, efficient and friendly employees who demonstrate real love and care for their customers and the restaurant. It shows! The weekday lunch combo specials are the real star here-for $10-$12, choose an egg roll or spring roll (or can soda), your choice of entree plus a side (white/brown/plain fried rice, can upgrade the side to things like pork lo mein, house fried rice etc for a max of $5.95 currently) A lunch special will legitimately feed me 3 or 4 times for the price of a fast food value meal, and it has veggies so I feel less guilt, haha If you select delivery, do it on their own website and opt for their own delivery to further support this gem of a small business!! If you pop into ABC or Giant, call here to place an order when you pull up, and it'll be ready by the time you finish your other errand. Don't forget them when you're sick-their egg drop soup will cure a cold quicker than chicken noodle soup! I have to admit the quality has gone down a tiny bit (some of the food's a little dry, slightly smaller portions, namely the scallion pancake duck roll was mostly veggies instead of meat), but it's still a spot I really enjoy going to for some homey food. You can choose between thick and thin for your noodle soups and I honestly like both even tho I usually like thick noodles. Their soups are nice and brothy, not too rich which I like. I've tried most of the food on the menu and it covers the bases for when you're feeling something more light or something more filling.

We tried A&J and liked it a lot!…read more This is not a typical Chinese-American restaurant. A&J has quite a few pleasantly unexpected dishes. Service was welcoming and efficient. On a mid-Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was about ¾ full. We started out with the Wonton Soup and the Spicy Wonton soup. The Wonton soup is just okay, but the Spicy Wonton Soup is wonderful and highly recommended. For another appetizer, we ordered the Scallion Pancake. It has a nice dense texture and I really liked it. It would've been even better if it came with a dipping sauce. We also ordered the pickled cabbage. It was good, though lacking seasoning. Our first entrée was ground pork in a delicious sauce accompanied by sprouts and thinly sliced cucumber (or was that zucchini?). Recommended! Our second entrée was a Pan Fried Beef Bun. The beef was flavorful but the bread was kinda dry. Our last entrée was the Beef Wraps. These were great! Who woulda thunk that beef and fresh carrots would go together so well?! Oh, the chili sauce in a jar on the table is extra tasty. At the end, before we got our check, we were given a plate with sliced cucumbers in a light tasty sesame chili sauce. Excellent! But the hot tea was an epic fail. It had no flavor whatsoever. Peeking inside the teapot, all I could see was a micro tiny tea bag floating or sort of sinking. One other thing I kinda don't want to bring up in light of the great food we enjoyed, but need to in the spirit of full disclosure, is to mention that A&J shares space in the building with several other businesses. The restrooms are common to all the businesses. A&J needs to lean hard on the property owner/manager to do a deep cleaning in those restrooms. I'll leave it at that.
