Date of Visit: 3.28.2026 Location: Annandale Cuisine Type: Korean Street Food Vibe: Red Cost: $$ Service: Minimal Food/ Rating: -4/5- The naengmyeon is chewy with the cold broth it is as expected. One thing i noticed about this place is their mastery of sauce. Each of the red sauce has unique savory, spicy and sugary tastes. Overall Thoughts: Best Thing I ate: It has to be the spicy red sauce and the blood sausage Something to Improve: I think it'll be nice if the server was a bit more knowledgeable. read more

Delicious food. You'll find this place to be unexpected to find. There's a sign but you actually go downstairs. There's plenty of free parking right outside. Staff are friendly enough, while the setting is very casual (but comfortable). There's a wide selection of food to choose from, and serving sizes are very good. Prices are reasonable. I went with spicy pork (my personal favorite and go-to when eating Korean). The spicy pork was decent but not the best I've had. My wife had the jjamppong ramen, and son the donkatsu toppoki. We also rounded out are meals with sweet potato dumplings (so good) and fried dumplings. Finally, I their bonchon (vegetable side dishes) were some of the best I've ever had. Flavors were on point. Everything was delicious, and we left stuffed. read more

To celebrate a friend's birthday, we went to a popular Korean street food restaurant. They have all your standard street foods from noodles, to wings to rice cakes. We were starving and ordered a variety of dishes. We thought everything was done very well! All the fried food was crispy and the Toppoki had a rich (and spicy!) sauce that was a good dipping sauce for the fried things. Our favorite items were the rose Toppoki and tempura. Great spot when you want any of the classic street foods. This is a solid spot for affordable Korean comfort food. I've been going here for several years but just recently visited after they redecorated. It has a trendier, more intimate vibe, but still casual enough to just sit down and chat. The service was really good, super polite and friendly, and the food came fairly quickly. I usually come here for the tteokbokki (my favorite is the bulgogi flavor), but I'm glad I decided to mix it up with the kimbap! The filling tasted fresh and the donkatsu was satisfyingly crispy. I definitely recommend coming here if you have a craving for Korean food with a casual vibe. read more

The food here is amazing! Definetly tastes home cooked. This is Korean street food and has plenty of options. We got the toppoki and kimbap and also the jjampong ramen. The were both very flavorful and comes with banchan. The only reason I am not giving it a full 5 stars is because the service was a bit slow, but did not make the experience any less enjoyable. We will definetly be visiting here again read more

Had the spicy tteokbokki and soondae--flavors were and comforting. Portion sizes are solid, food came out fresh and hot. Vibe's cozy and staff were friendly enough, though it gets a little hectic during busy times. Good spot for authentic Korean street food in Annandale--worth the visit. read more

Grateful to my friend for introducing me to this hidden gem! We split the holic toppoki and sweet potato dumplings which was an ideal amount of food to be comfortably full. Dishes were very reasonably priced (~$10/ea); I will say if you are going in with a huge appetite to get two for yourself because the portions are not large. Service was curt and next to nonexistent after the initial greeting. During the time of our visit, an upbeat music playlist was playing and was not too loud to detract from conversation which I appreciated. read more

Food was good. A bit overpriced. Place sells Korean side dishes and soups as well. Portions are a bit small.

Came here for lunch! Service was fast but the restaurant filled up for the lunch rush quickly. The star of the show was the soondae for me and my friend. It was meatier than others I've had at similar Korean restaurants. I would definitely get it again. Tteokboki was also good. Not too sweet. Strong rich flavor. But the egg yolk was crumbly and seemed old- like it was made yesterday. Jolmyun wasn't my favorite. Tasted too vinegary. And reminded me of the instant noodle jolmyun packs you can buy at Hmart. Lastly, mini kimbap was good too! The perfect appetizer. Mustard sauce is pungent but delicious read more

We got the set menu and modeum oden. They were both great-- the ddeokbokki was perfectly sweet and spicy, the soondae and gimbap were flavorful, and the oden soup was yummy. Service was good-- everyone was nice. The ambiance was very casual-- great to go with friends or family! read more

Came here on a week day since I've always wondered what this place was like. Overall the restaurant was clean and well taken care of. I was also happy to find that the bathroom was very clean, which you don't always find. Unlike some of the other reviewers I didn't grow up in Korea so I can't judge whether the food was authentic, however I thought what I ordered was decent. I ordered the fried chicken gizzard which came with two sauces. Compared to other places I would say it's about equivalent. I plan on going back to try out some of the other items this place is more well known for. read more

This is our go-to spicy ramen place. Nothing fancy, but the noodles aren't over cooked and the soup is delicious. We also usually get some kimbap. It's fresh and not soggy. This time we tried their tteokbokki (no fish cake). I'm not a huge rice cake fan but this food is mentioned (or eaten!) in every Korean show I watch so we had to try it. Surprisingly it's a sweet hot sauce, I didn't expect the sweetness, and could see how it may be really good with some beer or other alcoholic beverage. It seems to be a family business, so don't go too close to closing time! I think they prefer to close the kitchen a half hour before closing time, at least that's the vibe we got the one time we arrived to eat in about that time. We now watch the clock and go earlier if we want to eat here! It's worth it. read more

A great place for Korean bunsik style food. The tteokbokki with assorted 튀김 was so good and pretty heavy on the portion size. The prices are so cheap and reasonable as well. Not a lot of seating inside. read more

I'm giving Red Holic a 5/5 because the food is sincerely really good and the pricing is more than fair. However, beware of the service because it's not great. If you look beyond the service and focus on the food and price, you'll have a great time. Red Holic is the hole-in-the-wall, Korean street food galore of Annandale. My Korean friends love coming here to get their comfort foods. This place had all the bunsik I was craving and they have sampler combos & sets so you can get a bit of everything - definitely would recommend family styling here. HOLIC SAMPLER - 28.99 If you are here with a group, you should probably get this to get a taste of all the popular bunsiks. This comes with tteokbokki, tempera (onions, veggies, other stuff too), regular kimbap, soondae, and mandu. The tteokbokki was SPICY with some sweetness and so good. The rice cake soaked up the sauce well and there were some kimchi (?) in there. I wish they had fishcakes in it, but oh well. The tempera was a hit-or-miss for our group since we weren't a fan of all the vegetable options (and there were lots of tempera). The kimbap was tasty and I would definitely want to try their other kimbaps upon future return. The soondae fell apart easily, but it tasted pretty good. The mandu was SO CRISPY, HOT, AND DELICIOUS. I try to avoid fried foods in general, but I couldn't say no to that mandu. It had the crispiest skin and the flavors (aka oil) oozed in my mouth with the filling of the mandu. Wow, so good. MAN DDUCK - 16.99 Our group really enjoyed the perfectly fried mandus and tteokbokki, so we got another set with it. The portions were big and definitely worth the price! SOY SAUCE CHICKEN - 25.99 For a restaurant that isn't a KFC restaurant, the soy sauce KFC here was so good. The skin was again, perfectly fried and extremely crispy. The glaze was sweet and savory. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was pleasantly surprised how good the chicken was. I'd highly recommend this if you like chicken. Overall, the food here is phenomenal. This is the place to go in Annandale if you want to satisfy your Korean comfort food cravings. Our group was very happy and full after. In the future, I'd probably get more of the kimbap and soondae next time if I want to avoid fried foods. read more

This place is a solid alternative to Myung Ga Kimbap in Centreville/Fairfax. I think that it has an edge over the other Annandale places where kimbap is only the side item and not the main dish that they promote. I ordered through Doordash for this particular order but have been to their cozy half-basement location that can be hard to find. My 4.5 star (rounded to 5) would really be based on the tteokbokki and kimbap. Food 4.5/5: The Tteokbokki is my favorite here and I would even say my favorite in Annandale. The sauce is more red than orange, which either indicates that they use great gochugaru or a secret ingredient (maybe jjajang?) The Tonkatsu Tteokbokki is also a great option, and I find the house kimbap to go nicely with the sauce. Service 4/5: The last time I dined in, service was seamless. For this order, the packaging was perfect. Cleanliness 4/5: The place is doing everything it can to be covid-safe Ambiance 4/5: The place has a couple TVs and looks like somewhere where you can grab a quick bite or stay for some fried chicken/beer with friends. read more

Good for the best Korean street food you'll find in the area. Consistently good results, even for take-out at 9PM on a slow weekday. The food keeps impressing everyone we bring. Don't expect high level service and you'll be great. There was only one gentleman who took our orders, brought takeout, greeted customers, gave us utensils and napkins (it was self-serve so he didn't have to), and spoke on the phone while the two ajummas behind us basically ignored everything and didn't seem to lift a finger. I guess it was closing, and they were ready to leave. Cool. read more

Really yummy food. Service is pretty much nonexistent -- we came in, someone took our order and then disappeared. Had to find someone to give us the bill which was a little strange, but wow, the food made up for it! Ambiance is nothing special, there's a TV playing. We came on a weekday evening and there was nobody there. We ordered the Holic Sampler, which had an assortment of foods. I think it's meant for 3-4+ people to share but my friend and I were super hungry and practically finished the whole platter. I loved the diversity of the sampler - there was kimbap, tteokbokki, fried mandu, coleslaw and even sundae! Super super yummy array of foods. Tteokbokki was noticeably on the spicier side compared to other restaurants in Annandale. Definitely a great price for what you get in the platter...I will definitely be back! You can split 2-4 people with the platter which can cut costs to like $5-15 each person. So worth the price and so filling! read more

2.5 stars. Food is pretty standard Korean food court style. Nothing special, nothing terrible. They have free WiFi here and ample amount of seating. Super hole in the wall Korean restaurant. The Holic Sampler is a great way to try a little bit of everything if you're going to the restaurant for the first time. My two friends and I ordered an extra roll of kimbap but the portion size was definitely enough. And the food is quite affordable. Don't expect any service from the owners except for the initial water and utensil drop off in the beginning--I had to get up and refill my own water. I will give an extra star for playing BTS songs though. Anddddd the bathroom was one of the cleanest public bathrooms I've seen in a long time. read more

This was recommended to me by a few Korean friends. They said this would be a comfort food experience and it was. It was a single host/waiter/server but he was very attentive. The food was great. We ordered family style to sample everything. You must start with the Sweet Potato dumplings. Also if you like spicy get the Holic TopPoki appetizer. We enjoyed the Bulgogi Rice, spicy and sweet chicken, and a bowl of ramen. This quaint little place will be our go to for Korean! read more

This food was so good for the most part the chicken was tasty but not that special in my opinion. The mandu and tteokbokki were good but also not that special but I loved the fried tempura-like vegetables and 야채튀김 they were so crispy and delish it inspired me to make it with my friend later. The soondae was not it thought tbh it might be like second to worst soondae I've had at a restaurant I would not get this again just because of that. When we walked in there was only one man eating alone. There was no one working or standing at the counter and we stood around like idiots for like five minutes and contemplated leaving before someone came out and took our order. Just wait a bit even if you think the place is empty Also there was like goofy music playing the entire time like terrible 2015 radio music but it was all covers so it was just horribleness on top of horribleness and it was a bit unbearable to sit there tortured by a sia song sung by a man. I really think if they just changed their playlist it would have such a nicer vibe like GENUINELY it's not even that they don't play good music, it's that they play music that scrapes against your ears and makes you wanna leave. Overall it was good though and pretty cheap I'd go back! read more

The service isn't the fastest but the food is great! Red Holic is inexpensive and tasty -- the fish cake soup was mediocre but the holic sampler should be the go to menu for everybody! And it's only $25. Also they have a variety of menu items and all of them seem to be very affordable. I think they were short staffed the day I went in because I saw the lady running around by herself trying to accommodate everybody. My friends and I have been eating at Red Holic for years. We usually order the Holic Sampler and replace the sundae with more kimbap. We also usually substitute the regular kimbap for tuna kimbap and spicy squid kimbap for a little extra. Red Holic is a great place to eat at when you're craving Korean street food. Be warned that, if you're expecting the best customer service here, you're probably not going to get it. ANNANDALE, VA 02/10/19 DINNER DELIVERY via DOORDASH +Based on pictures, it looked like the Holic Sampler Platter is a must-order! So, that's what we ordered. It's a plethora of deep-fried samplings of veggies and other Korean street food favorites. +The spicy rice cake ("dduckbokki") had a nice sweet and spicy balance to it. +The seasoned french fries were extra crispy, and our little toddler foodie loved them. -No loyalty rewards program. This place is a nice little spot to grab some Korean street food favorites, such as "dduckbokki" and "tong dahk" (original, old school Korean fried chicken). Next time, I plan on trying some other snacks and I hope their "jjol myun" (extra chewy noodle in red hot pepper paste sauce) is a fiery hot inferno spice level, like the ones they offer at snack shops in front of Korean high schools and universities. Unfortunately I did not like one thing from this place. The breading on the tonkatsu had a stale-crispy ish taste to it - not that it was actually stale, but what you would imagine that would taste like. The tonkatsu dipping sauce was chunky and bland. The tteokboki was very average and they forgot to add cheese on top :(. The dumpling dough was thick and kind of like samosa dough. Kimbap and bulgogi also very average. Everything tasted like it was frozen and reheated. I hope they redo their recipes because we need a Korea street food/deli in Annandale! My favorite spicy rice cake place in the DMV area as of yet. Love the spicy rice cake set/ combo with the tempuras (squid, butternut squash, sweet potato, glass noodle with dried seaweed, and some others). You get a pretty big portion for a small price and everything is delicious! I also tried their seafood soup sujaebi, which was also really good. Perfect level of spice. I also really like their squid kimbap. I've ordered takeout from here multiple times during COVID and I was impressed with their precautionary measures. Even from the beginning when it wasn't even a serious deal in the US and restrictions weren't in place, they made sure hand sanitizers were at each table and the servers wore masks. During the restrictions, they made sure distance was being kept and they regularly used sanitizers between customers and between their trips from the cash register to the kitchen. Probably why I still kept going even during COVID. Can't live without ddeokbokgi! read more
