Rating more like 3.6 We have been to a bunch of Korean places in Annandale and Seoul Soondae has our favorite bossum - it is so delicious! We also get their gomtang (oxtail soup) and it is also really yummy. We've had other dishes like the kalbi and seafood pancake and they are just okay. We will keep coming back for the bossum and that is reason enough for us! The service is quick and the women that work there are always super nice and they tell us how to eat the dishes we order. The restaurant is super casual, a lot of the times there is only one or two other parties there. It has a really casual + home-y feel.

I will say not terrible, but I will probably try to get different food next time Service was prompt and nice. All of us went there quite late but they were so nice. Nothing special about the ambiance itself. Pretty typical for other Korean restaurant. It's not boozie or anything.

Mostly ok, probably pretty authentic. Table is sticky though, and there are some bugs.

Great food and price too! Gamja tang tastes just like the ones I had in Korea! Will definitely comeback!

Plenty of seats available since I was the only customer. I ordered to go because I heard their jokbal was good there. Mines didn't turn out so well but I was told to go ahead and ask them if they made it fresh so maybe I can try again some other time. It was really quiet where the staff was literally taking a nap. Maybe it was just bad timing. But they were happy to take my order. No big deal I probably would take a nap myself if business was slow. Not a large space but could fit decent amount of tables.

This place is really awesome. I came here initially expecting to visit Stone Tofu House, only to find that it had permanently closed! So we tried this place instead, and omg I'm glad I did. We ordered the Kalguksu and the Soondubu with the Soondae. This place specializes in its Soondae which we learned is Korean Sausage. The portions are huge! The Kalguksu was so rejuvenating, and the Soondubu had a really deep/complex flavor profile that I hadn't had before and it was really delicious. I highly recommend people try place out!

Seoul Soondae was the perfect place for a big group this past Sunday for lunch. With a party of 11, we were able to order a big platter of soondae and bossam to share while getting our own entrees. The server was quick and brought us banchan (kimchi, seaweed, potatoes, and radish) once she got our orders. I enjoyed the kimchi, seaweed, and potatoes a lot. PICK 2: SOONDAE + BOSSAM - 29.99 I've never had soondae before but wow I really like it! There was a lot of vermicelli noodles in our soondae which went well with the spiced salt and spicy dipping sauce. The bossam was also super tasty and fatty. I definitely prefer the soondae more, but it was good to have a variety. Wrapping them in napa cabbage was a nice touch. This was a great platter to share with a larger group. Individual portions are also available. Next time, I'll probably get my own portion with the soondae soup. BULGOGI TTUKBAEGI - 15.99 My friend made bulgogi ttukbaegi for me a few weeks back using a pretty simple recipe. I was excited to see it on the menu and wanted to see if it would be any different. Funny enough, it tasted like the one my friend made and it was good! However, this also means that I can make it myself at home, so I probably won't get it again next time. However, for those who want a sweeter meat broth with a lot of onions, carrots, and green onions, I'd recommend this. It was hearty and tasty! A lot of my friends got the BUDAE JJIGAE which hit the spot with a lot of people here. I thought it was pretty good - a bit more on the sour side, though, and the broth was a bit too watery. Some people ended up getting a side order of ramen (+2) since the budae jjigae comes with glass noodles, not ramen. Another friend ordered a HAEMUL SOONDUBU JJIGAE and it was surprisingly tasty for a restaurant that isn't known for their soondubu. Besides Lighthouse, I'd say the soondubu is my next favorite in the Annandale area. I will be back soon to eat more soondae. 100% guaranteed.

Ordered some bossam to go for dinner. For $40, you receive a box of the saddest thinnest bossam you'll ever see. And the meat is dry. Definitely not recommended here, specific to bossam.

My friends and I came in to the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is quite empty. We ordered various dishes, the spicy pork feet is my favorite!!! It is so delicious and tender. My friends shared the cold noodle, and they really like the flavor. First time trying sundae and it is very delicious, highly recommend if you want to give a shot. I think their army stew is quite normal ( not bad, but just average, nothing stands out). We don't like their fried dumplings- it's completely plain and no flavor. Overall it's a good experience and the service was good.

Galbi
Tiffany C.

I ordered Galbi and the meat was spoiled and marinated in gravy. The odor was so unbearable that it made me sick to my stomach. Perhaps it was due to it being late in the evening when I ordered; however, they should never serve spoiled meat and charge over $40 when it was complete garbage :/

We called ahead and picked up our order. The entire process was smooth and quick. The lady on the phone greeted us with a welcoming and friendly attitude. Both blood sausages and pig feet were very fresh and delicious. Just wish to have more veggies and banchan to go with them.

Beef intestine kimchi stew
Helena K.

We order beef intestine kimchi stew and intestine soup. Kimchi stew literally fill with kimchi. Only have Couple bite of intestine. Don't think it worthy the price. The taste was ok I had better. The side dish was good. Service was terrible. We come in no offer high chair. We have to constantly go up ask for order, check, togo container. It wasn't that busy. Don't know why can't get decent service. I dont think I would recommend it cause there are other restaurants that much better here.

I'm thinking that many people who come here know already what they want, because even before we cracked open our menus, the server was immediately at our table expecting us to place our order. When we told her we weren't ready yet, she left, but came back less than a minute later and then stood there waiting for us to place our order. So I ordered the Sullangtang, which is bone broth with brisket and noodles. JP ordered the Yukgaejang, a spicy red broth with veggies and flank steak. We also ordered the fried dumplings. I don't know if the fried dumplings were vegetable or pork, but they were very good, made even better with a delicious dipping sauce. As hoped, banchan was served with our meal, but was just cubes of daikon radish (kkakdugi) and kimchi. The kkakdugi and kimchi were fresh and tasty. Even if the Sullantang recipe is traditional, I was disappointed. The broth was thin and very bland. However, I was able to jazz it up and make it into a pretty good soup by adding spoonfuls of the Yukgaejang broth and the fried dumpling sauce, plus salt and pepper. The Yukgaejang, topped with crispy noodles, was the better of the two soups. It had a lively flavor and as billed on the menu, was indeed spicy. The menu is limited, almost exclusively vegetable and beef dishes, but there is a seafood pancake and whelk (mollusk) dish. No chicken or pork dishes. Overall, our experience was decent and we would certainly consider returning. Shin Chon has plenty of off-street parking.

We ordered a spread: gyoza with sweet and spicy sauce, kimchi pancakes, fried shrimp, soy garlic wings, takoyaki, LA galbi, and jjampong with noodles... plus way too many drinks. We arrived early and scored prime seats by the bar, which turned out to be perfect, especially once the night shifted into more of a club vibe with a DJ. The energy was great, and most of the food was surprisingly delicious -- everything hit except the jjampong. We were expecting udon noodles, but it came with thin, clear noodles instead, and the flavor was a bit off for us. That said, the staff handled everything perfectly, and it didn't take away from the rest of the experience. Between the food, drinks, and nightlife atmosphere, we had an awesome time and will definitely be back. There's no DJ and it's not super crowded, but the music is good and it truly is a place to just drink and hang out with your friends. The food here is actually phenomenal.
