a hot pot of soup on a wooden table

Honestly such a good Korean hidden gem on the outskirts of Annandale and somewhat into Alexandria. This place is across the street from the Salvation Army store on little river turnpike. I came to try the goat meat spicy stew. It was super good. The goat meat is tender and lean. The soup was exactly what I needed for a cold windy winter day. The side dishes were also very good, especially the egg. My only thing against it is that there must be a ton of sodium and the secret spice to all Asian restaurant cooking: MSG. I would come back for their pork belly and try more of their food though. Beware of the food coma you'll get afterwards.

Not a good place for kids. Not enough menu to choose from. There was only one server, and he was not available all the time. Customers have to go get stuff (like more napkins, spoons, water, etc.) by themselves. Ordered octopus stir fried and it came out undercooked. That was disappointing. This place was full of loud men customers. Too loud to enjoy food. Never coming back.

service is same as Korea.. get their attention (just read someone else's comment on service) they are friendly, enjoy coming here :)

Authentic Korean food. Wasn't sure if I wanted to share bc I don't want this place to get busy but the owners are good people and I shouldn't be selfish .. tis the season. Goat stew, BBQ, sides, all good. Thank ya much!!

Owner has an attitude. I would give -10 for a terrible service, if that rating was available. Food taste was mediocre.

Was seated by a delightful young lady, and found the decor and layout to be quite pleasing; modest by elegant. As for the fare, it was indeed quite worth the walk. Ordered a bowl of Tom Yum and the Pad Thai Mun Goong. The Tom Yum was solid and quite flavorful, a flux of tangy lemongrass with the oniony sweetness of steeped scallions, and enoki mushrooms to provide some heartiness. The Pad Thai Mun Goong was a chef specialty pad Thai made with stir fried rice noodle, prawns shrimp tomalley oil (a crucial element for this version), egg and bean sprouts, naturally topped with green onions, peanuts and a lime for squeezing, and this also was quite phenomenal. Savory, sweet, a little tingle of sourness from the citrus in the mid-palate, and the juicy, briny shrimp balancing the dense carbs and rich flavorful sauce. All-in-all, I was well pleased this visit. As this is Padaek's second location, I hope they don't expand too much further/quickly and compromise on quality.

They had a band and singers and folks were up dancing. We found out this is an annual thing and not something regular. We didn't realized they closed at 9pm so felt a little rushed. My friend and I shared the Pad See Ew with beef and the Pla Makham. Both dishes were so good and packed with flavor. We saw some good looking dishes being delivered to other tables and can't wait to return to try them.

Love that they have so many spice levels to choose from. I asked for the medium level and honestly it could be considered spicy to some. So if you're sensitive maybe go one lower than you think. The flavor is more than just spice though. The chicken is really well cooked and battered. The outside was crispy even with sauce all over. Also the fried okra was a sleeper agent, it was so addicting we all kept reaching for it. I'm personally not the biggest fan of waffle fries but these were cooked great. Great place to swing by and grab some fried chicken

For context, I regularly enjoy spicy food: always top my pizza with crushed red pepper flakes, eat deli sandwiches with a layer of pickled jalapeños or banana peppers, and generally order medium-to-spicy levels for Thai, Chinese, and other cuisines. But I'm not one of those ghost pepper extremists, so I hesitated to try Wooboi's Code Red or Blue on my first visit and ordered Level 3 (Hot). Let me be clear: Level 3 is spicy, but I was proud of myself and ate the whole thing with no drama. It's got a little delayed effect and will make your tummy feel warm the rest of the day. Overall, a delicious spicy sandwich I'd make another trip to Alexandria for. I will be brave and try Code Red next. Tip: If you're going to go spicy, order cold bottled water (maybe 2) and the banana pudding - the dairy helped in between particularly spicy bites. Wish they served milk or milkshakes!

It's a delicious journey through different forms of Japanese cuisine, from raw dishes to grilled, fried, and even a comforting soup course. The setting is intimate, with just a few seats per seating, which makes the experience feel personal and unrushed. Each dish is introduced with care, offering insight into the ingredients and preparation and adding an extra layer of appreciation to the meal. We opted for the sake pairing, which complemented the courses beautifully. Standout dishes for us were the sashimi and the wagyu beef, both incredibly fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. That said, every course was truly delicious. Nasime is a wonderful spot for a thoughtful, peaceful dinner and an especially great choice for a date night. Reservations are required through Resy, and I definitely recommend coming hungry--you'll want to enjoy every course.

To explain my review, I am most influenced by how much I enjoyed the food. It's only fair to note…read morethe menu rotates and I received a serving that I would not personally enjoy. Perhaps it was being a patron during the winter when freshness is limited. Each dish we ate I rank below: 1) poached egg w/ blue crab dashi ankake (5/10) - the egg was cold and cooled the soup once the yolk was pierced which took away from the experience for me. The crab was good and it was supplemented by this corn-like kernel that was bitter and complemented the soup well. 2) seared wagyu with truffle shoyu (8/10) - seems to be a staple. Delicious. Wish there was more truffle since some pieces weren't as covered. Slightly cold but didn't take away from the experience. 3) otsukuri (sashimi) (8.5/10) - wish this was the majority of the meal. This was the part enjoyed most. A wide variety of fish. I would've enjoyed this more if it was not all served at once. 4) spanish octopus agedashi (8/10) - very delicious though the octopus pieces were very big and some too fatty. ' 5) prime fillet mignon w/ haccho miso graze (9/10) - amazing!! our favourite dish. served on a bed of eggplant and mozz cheese. The steak was perfectly cooked. 6) maple leaf duck noodle soup (3/10) - did not enjoy this dish. The broth was not savoury and the duck was far too gamey and fatty. Fortunately, we were stuffed so didn't eat this one. 7) housemade strawberry japanese fro yo (8/10) - refreshing and delicious Cocktails - 7/10 - very limited menu. We had one of the signature cocktails and a whisky. They were both light but lacked complexity. Most of the flavour was given way by the yuzu. Atmosphere - this is where the restaurant shines and I'd recommend going for a special date. It's a very intimate setting. About 10 people can be seated every time, and I believe there are two seatings each evening (6pm and 8:30pm). You are not rushed. We had the 8:30pm seating and lingered for almost 3 hours. It was an excellent environment conducive to conversation. We sat at the bar and saw the one-man show, the chef, prepare all the food. He had a haughty energy, very focused, and unsmiling. He gave the aura of a trained culinary genius. This was nicely contrasted with the one server, a charming and smiling individual. The place is not fancy - I do think it could've been nicer - but I believe it is the most authentic Japanese restaurant you'll find in all the DMV. I would highly recommend to everyone interested in fine Japanese cuisine.
