Strawberry Green Tea with Rainbow jelly
Clara S.

Stopped by to grab a refreshing boba tea after a day in Old Town. I only got to eat a side of spring rolls with a delicious spicy honey dip. Wish I could have sampled more food, but the Strawberry Tea with rainbow jelly I got was sweet and refreshing! I'd definitely come back! We had a large group and there was one table we could sit at and relax. There's also some bar stools and a side table by the window to eat, but mostly a carry out vibe or a place to grab a quick bite. Parking is like everywhere in Old Town - either street parking or find a garage.

I'm all about eating Asian food, and this place is located centrally on King St. They have several options to choose from, and the staff were nice. My first complaint comes from the food being very heavy. It tasted alright, but gives you that feeling of being very full for a few hours after, and the same happened to my friend. Definitely something you'll need to walk off to go back to normal. The second star I marked off was due to the bathroom being quite dirty. I'm not sure how often the restroom is cleaned, but it did seem like there weren't that many people working, so maybe that's why. The toilet and sink had dirt on them, there were no towels apart from a roll sitting there, and the ceiling wasn't very clean either. I think a clean restroom is an important part of any establishment, so that stood out to me. Overall, food was alright but not in a rush to come back.

We always swing by here for bubble tea. It's fresh and some of the best in the area of old towne. Fast service and it's hit or miss on busy levels but please do something about customers eating and have a whole conversation on speaker in the resturant.

Veggie spring roll

Strolling around Alexandria, watching the people scurry around, when in the middle of nowhere, up springs Noodle Box to tempt us with Eastern goodies. We got the shrimp fried rice, kung pao noodles, and drunken noodles along with the veggie spring rolls. Not bad - the flavors kind of blended together after awhile. But Noodle Box has one saving grace, and that is that the cooks know what "spicy" means. They don't fool around - when you ask for something spicy, it's spicy, like need-a-napkin-for-your-forehead-sweat spicy. This is not easy to find in today's bland world, even in the most authentic Asian restaurants. Noodle Box is not afraid to scare customers who think "spicy" means extra onions or a jalapeno!

Pad Thai Noodle

Great food! I wish the pad thai had more veggies in it at baseline. Next time, I feel like I'd need to order veggie and tofu. My sister's drunken noodles had more zing than she expected for it only having one spice pepper, but she said it was great. Overall, cute little place, but super small dining area--a few bar stools and very limited seating that wasn't super comfortable.

My daughter and I needed lunch during a day in Old Alexandria. We selected Noodle Box for a quick meal. My daughter wanted plain lo mein and even though it's not on the menu, they accommodated her. I went with the drunken noodles with tofu. We shared a spring roll appetizer. The spring rolls were crispy and filled nicely. My daughter liked her lo mein. I loved the drunken noodles with tofu. The tofu texture was great, the noodles were quality, and the sauce packed a spice punch! Very enjoyable lunch!

Thai Fried Rice

Service- the service was knowledgeable, polite and helpful with the menu. The service is very quick and they seem to manage both eat in and to go orders well. You will get your food very quickly so this is good when you have limited tim Ambiance- the space is small but warm and comfortable. There is a nice seating space at the window if you enjoy people watching in Old Town. The space is clean and has enough seating for a small party- not a large party. Food- I got something simple- the Thai Fried Rice- while I enjoyed the flavor the rice was soggy. On a positive note- the flavors were so fragrant- I could taste it long after I finished ordering. The vegetables were raw including the onion (now I actually I enjoy raw veggies and onions but for many this would not be enjoyable) The part that did me in was that the shrimp was undercooked. I did enjoy the mango bubble tea. They have a good variety of boba flavors. Final Analysis- looking for a quick bite for lunch on the run- sure but if you're looking to sit down and have quality Thai, I would choose another space. I think this place is reasonably priced place to take teens or kids. I would be willing to try another dish to see if their noddles are better.

Dipped in here for a snack in August while exploring the area. We shared a kids meal and it was pretty good. Loved the wall art. In general, nice little spot -- would definitely return to try more.

Lychee tea with lychee jelly

The price is so good for what you get! It's close to $10 and you get a whole bowl of pad Thai and it's so fresh and so good! The lychee boba tea was delicious too!! 100% recommend!!

For us, we were talking to an artist in the Torpedo Art Studio in Old Town Alexandria, admiring the work he did. It got then we started talking about lunch as he was from Hong Kong. He mentioned we go across the street and try something he liked as it was something he would have back home. So, taking his advice we walked across the street and went to Mai Thai. It was a good suggestion. We went in and had a seat. Our waitress (a wonderful woman from Guam) gave some advice and we to some time to think. In the end we decided to start with Spring Rolls. This is the freshest sliced roll of crispy veggie combinations of lettuce, celery, mixed veggies wrapped in a thin wrap and served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. It was truly fresh and tasty. The dipping sauce was unique and made this worth a meal by itself. Then, being a cold day outside, soup seemed to be a good thing for lunch. We selected some traditional bowls of soup. First was TOM KA. It was a combination of vegetables and tofu in a coconut broth with mushrooms and fresh herbs. The soup had a tint of white. It was light and tasty. It was at a room temperature which is the way you have soup in Thailand. It was refreshing and light. Next we had TOM YUM. This is a combination made from slices of chicken in a lemongrass soup with fresh mushrooms, cilantro, scallions, galangal, kaffir-lime leaves, and Thai spices. The broth was light and traditional. If you wanted more spice our hostess brought it to you. Again, this was the way I had it when I was working in the rural areas of Thailand. Nothing fancy. Nothing simple. It was true home cooking that was served to you in a method truly Thai. The lunch was simple, but the way you would eat in Thailand. The taste and flavor was what to expect. The team is wonderful and friendly. The price was fine. It was good to find Mai Thai. And maybe being told about it from an artists does make it true to say that "Art is in the eye (and mouth) of the beholder."

Calamari was ok -- could've been fried a little harder, but still good. Service was okay, nothing crazy, but the ambiance made up for it -- chill and refreshing. We sat outside and it was a nice.

Great 5* option. My…read moretwo go-to options are the Gin Ramen with Beef Bulgogi or the Tan Tan Men with Spicy Minced Pork Marinated. Both have a pork broth. One is with egg noodles and the other wheat noodles. This time, I had the Gin Ramen. So, so good. Great flavors, toppings, and noodles. Spice it up if you want. The atmosphere is fun too. Always busy especially on weekend nights. They have a nice bar seating too. Small TV option always seems to have a game on. Definitely on my rotation for great places to dine. Give them a try. Service was great. We ordered several dishes, and they were all very good to excellent. We especially liked the fried brussel sprouts, which were flaky, tasty and crispy. I loved my steamed pork bun. There's just something about the texture and flavor of a steamed bun that I'm just wild about. The onion pancake, which was actually three little pancakes, was tasty though a tad oily. We also ordered an avocado salad, tuna tartare and tonkastsu ramen. The garlic in the ramen was decidedly strong. But overall, this was a great experience and we want to return.

A fantastic sandwich location. I love a good sandwich!…read more I was able to place an order for pick up just before I got on the train to head back. Brilliant! I will definitely for this again on my next trip. I ordered a BLT on multigrain, and a PBJ w/honey drizzle on sourdough. The PBJ is off the kids menu. I'll ask for extra peanut butter and jelly so it's to my liking. I couldn't tell if there was honey on it, it could have been. The BLT was fantastic. I loved that it was not oiled high with all the ingredients. A simple sandwich. It fit the bill and didn't over fill me. A true classic. The multi grain bread was the best! I need to find out where that is from. It was that good. I hope I'm able to try the tuna fish and the egg salad sandwiches sometime they look delish! The staff were quiet, but got the job done. There is a small bar like area to eat in, and outdoor tables in a covered area to enjoy your sandwich.

Great little sandwich shop!…read more It's very popular at noontime. I took a break from my 4 hour long painting class upstairs in the Torpedo Factory to snag a bite. My timing was good, because I arrived right before a work group of maybe 10 people or so came into place their orders. In addition to a substantive sandwich menu, which includes both hot and cold sandwiches, there's plenty of beverage (including wine) and snack selections. Wearing an oil paint-smudged apron (FYI: the reality is that you're still going to get paint on your clothes even wearing an apron), I aptly ordered the Torpedo Artist. The Torpedo Artist is a hot Panini-like sandwich. You can select your type of meat, cheese and toppings. By default it includes lettuce, sweet peppers and deli oil. My sandwich was well-crafted with plenty of turkey and Swiss cheese. However, I didn't especially like this sandwich. I wish I had asked them to hold the deli oil because it was overly pungent with oregano. All I could taste in my sandwich was oregano. But older and wiser now, I know in the future that if I have them hold the deli oil, I'll end up with a great and tasty sandwich.
