In mid-November 2025, my friend was having a birthday celebration in Old Town Alexandria. He was originally picking some Italian place, Mia's, which we were looking forward to, but I think my friend tried to book a reservation too late, and the available times weren't at all good for him. So, he switched to Asian Bistro. I was thinking this wasn't going to be as good. I was skeptical because they were simply Asian Bistro and didn't focus on one cuisine like Chinese, Thai, etc. However, I was mistaken. The restaurant is small, but they accommodated for our large group albeit a bit tight. Server was friendly. My girlfriend & I decided to split Pad Thai & a couple of sushi rolls. Wow, this was one of the best Pad Thai I've had, and the sushi rolls were surprisingly great too. If in Old Town, this is a great option. read more

This is a quaint Asian cuisine eatery located in the old town area. The space is filled with small wooden tables seemingly perfect for more intimate outings. I stopped in for a quick lunch. it wasn't terribly busy aside from the friendly regulars who were eating at the table next to me. The service was timely and hospitable as I was able to order quickly and was offered drink refills pretty routinely throughout my time there. Their menu features appetizers like summer rolls, veggie gyoza, crab & chicken shumai, and entrees like lemongrass pan fried noodles, broccoli stir fry, pad thai, and lo mein with your choice of protein as prices range from about $10-$20 per item. I kept it simple and tried the fried rice with pork. Overall excellent dish: large portion size, a sufficient amount of protein, and a nice combination of ingredients with the shredded carrots, bell peppers, peas, scallions and onions. The ratings are accurate. I would say this is a mediocore sushi/asian spot. I went for lunch. Service is amazing! Food came out very quick. I gave 3 stars because the sushi rolls weren't anything special. Eel avocado was the best one but the California roll and spicy tuna didn't taste super fresh. Plenty of space, a bit dark, but not super busy for being on king st. Crab ragoon was good however miso soup didn't have much flavor. Let me start with the service, they were attentive and kind. The food was good and offered generous portions. We ordered general tso, chicken and broccoli, and an avocado -cream cheese roll. Would definitely come back. The place was clean inside as well with fresh flowers. read more

A beautiful and rather large interior. The lighting was calm and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We are pretty happy to have discovered this place and look forward to trying more dishes from them in the future. What we got: Tom Kha soup - 4* I really enjoyed it. The lemon is on the stronger side and to get 5 stars from me it would have to have just a smidge less. It also didn't seem very coconut based and looked more red which surprised me but it was still very delicious. I'd order it again. General Tso - 4* great flavor! I loved scooping up the extra sauce and eating it with my rice. The chicken chunks are rather large and I think I would've preferred them to be a bit smaller, but they were also easy to eat and bite into smaller pieces. (Probably could've cut them easily too, I just never even thought to pick up my knife, chopsticks all the way!) Hunan Stir Fry - 3.5* while a very good dish the sauce seemed heavy on the soy sauce. I was expecting it to have a bit more of a spicy kick to it as it was advertised as a spicy sauce but it didn't. After a day on Amtrak and about 8 miles of walking around DC and Alexandria, we were tired and hungry. We literally picked this place because it was right next to our Airbnb. None of us were really craving Asian, but here we were. Well, Look no further if you are looking for an explosion of tastes in Old Town, Alexandria. Starving or not, we would have recognized the expertise in the chef's knowledge this cuisine. Three of us ordered to share. The rolls were outstanding, the warmth complimenting the textures. We could actually taste the crab in the Crab Rangoons. This is not always the case, often times, whatcha get is some cream cheese without any hint of crab. The General Tso's Chicken was fresh, clean and crisp tasting. I'm not really a fan because I usually sense a smokey flavor. No smokey here. Perfection! My friend ordered a tofu dish with vegetables that was probably some of the best flavored tofu I'd ever eaten. THAT takes talent! My choice was a shrimp and cashew fried rice which was so flavorful I couldn't stop. With all the restaurants to chose from in Old Town, I would make it a point to stop here at Asian Bistro. I can't believe I am just now reviewing Asian Bistro! Better late than never as they say! A red awning beckons you in from King Street! The interior is open..well lit and clean. Server greeted us promptly and we had waters and menus right away. We ordered the summer roll to snack on while we decided on some sushi. Fresh and light, perfectly balanced..the peanut sauce that comes to dip the summer roll in is nothing short of amazing!!! Ordered a roll and few pieces of nigiri which were fresh and delish! Entrees, my friend enjoyed the crispy fried fish, which looked so fresh and bright with its garnish of apples and an Asian slaw. The feedback on the dish was "Damn this is great" so i guess that is sums it up! I had beef pho which is just a little bowl of heaven! The broth is well seasoned and just everything you could ask for! In short, you cannot go wrong with this spot! It hits all the marks, friendly service, delish food and a banging lychee martini! So let me get this off of my chest... I HATED the sushi from here! It lacked flavor and heat (spice). I couldn't taste any of the fish in the rolls. How disappointing! The jalapeños in one of my rolls was fresh, flavorful and delicious. I guess I should mention what rolls were ordered, huh? Well.... Spicy Yellow Tail, spicy tuna, tuna jalapeño, and the NM roll. Made a quick stop to Asian Bistro for lunch during the week. The service was quick and staff was friendly. I had an order or drunken noodles that came with a side salad. The salad was fresh but I didn't think the dressing went well with it. The drunken noodles were a little on chopped up but had good flavor and just the right amount of heat. Variety is the name of the game here. There's sushi, sashimi, Thai dishes, Chinese dishes, even one pho option. I ordered the Miso soup, side salad, and the Kung Pao chicken- all of which came out in a timely manner. Service was well paced. Everything was decent- not mind blowing, but definitely serviceable. The location has Asian vibes, and you could challenge authenticity, but everything is worth your attention. The ice cream definitely caught me by surprise. Probably the best part of the menu. Asian Bistro was recommended to me so I was excited to try it out! I wanted to sit down in the restaurant, but I ended up doing takeout. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll, king spider roll, and red curry. The curry was an 8/10. Flavorful. But when it comes to the sushi, I feel like they skimped me. I paid $15 for the king spider roll and they only gave me 5 little pieces. To me, that doesn't seem right and I just feel like something was missing for that price. See picture below (it's the one at the top of the box). My shrimp tempera roll was alright as well, I've had better. Also, I don't know why my rolls were so brown, without any sauce or anything being poured on them. Dirty oil? I'd try this place again and sit in the restaurant, maybe the experience will be more worth it. read more

Came here to take advantage of the lunch special. I was able to pick my own seat which was nice. There was only one person working which makes sense given the time, but the lunch crowd started rolling it and it was noticeable that the server had to move very quickly to attend to all the demands. He was efficient, but again, I imagine it was very difficult to be as attentive when you're the other on the floor. My food was good. I do think the portion of Pad Thai was rather skimpy, but it was delicious as were the spring rolls. I met Bay (pronounced bi) an older gentleman at the establishment and he's not shy about telling you what I'm the menu is worthwhile. So far, I've had the massaman curry lamb, the vegetable fried rice and the vegetable spring rolls and it's all very delicious.
