Beef bimbimbap
Mon C.

Very much enjoyed the beef bibimbap! Came in a traditional stone bowl piping hot and delicious. Loved that they didn't skimp on the toppings. Enjoyed the shrimp dumplings on happy hour too.

James H.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Not much of a crowd on a Thursday night as many other restaurants seemed to be filled up. Dinner was very casual. I ordered the duck bibimbap which was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the Asian pear limeade which was really good. No problems here. Overall, a cool experience.

Really wanted to love Chiko after seeing the reviews, but while the food tasted great, the overall experience was just ok. There were 5 of us in the group and it's a small location that really isn't set up for that size group. You order individually at the counter and by the time the 5th person in our group got their food the first person had been done eating for quite some time. That being said if you're ordering out or eating in with just a couple people I imagine it would be great. I got potstickers and they were very tasty.

Duck bibimbop = super tasty

Chiko's is a Chinese Korean place but not really fusion just offering both. Not a lot of seating inside but the patio is nice. The people are helpful and the food is good.

If you're looking for something new, a fusion restaurant that combines Korean and Chinese flavors in a casual setting in Arlington is an excellent place to go. The chefs have done a great job of creating new dishes by blending two distinct flavors. The place is clean and tidy, making it a great option to enjoy a meal. This place is in the Village at Shirlington, where one can enjoy a good walk after satisfying food.

This little place is nice and cozy perfect for a casual date night. My husband and I went in for the dumplings and oh my! They are very flavorful and saucy yum yum go try them!!! The shrimp one was my favorite! Very fast service too which is good when you're hungry hehe

Really, really delicious. We stopped here for a quick dinner and loved everything we tried. The ingredients are fresh and well-cooked, the service is lightning-fast, the prices are reasonable, and the flavors are bold and memorable. If you do come here, definitely try the noodle dishes - they're particularly delicious!

One of the best spots in Shirligton! CHIKO never disappoints, the food is always so tasty and flavorful! The Tots are a MUST! Creative menu and great atmosphere, you can't go wrong with dining here!

Cumin Lamb Stir Fry

My boy friend just brought home dinner from Chiko and I have to immediately follow up with a review. The food was DELICIOUS! I mean some of the best I've ever had, super flavorful. We have the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry, Pork and Kimchi Potsticker and Kimchi on the side. Everything had a power punch of flavor, large servings and the potstickers (5) were large and delicious. National Kimchi Day selection did not disappoint!

Spicy Bulgogi Stir Fry

These guys are on the pricier side. While portions are decent and the taste is phenomenal, the price is a bit steep for what you're getting, in my opinion. The overall cost of the meal plus tip was more than what I think this kind of restaurant would usually charge, especially with the independent customer nature of the place. (You seat yourself, scan a qr code to order, and check yourself out via the qr code as well. The serve brings your water, utensils, order, and refills water.) Basically, I'm docking a star for their price, otherwise this joint would be 5* in my book. This place also doesn't have much going for them in terms of decor and interior aesthetic, but I liked their DC light. What we got: Pork Belly Fried Rice - 5* this was so yummy! The pork belly was really good and I enjoyed the pumpkin (or maybe it was squash?) in the fried rice. Spicy Bulgogi Stir Fry - 5* I'm not a mushroom fan and this dish didn't convert me to love mushrooms but I was able to eat a couple because the sauce was so great. The bulgogi had great flavour as well. I was a little disappointed with the size, especially compared to the size of the fried rice.

Crispy Chicken Springrolls and Korean Garden Noodles

Chiko is a happy welcome to the area in Shirlington area! It's been hard to find tasty and reliable Asian food in the area. I've yet to dine inside their restaurant as I've always ordered it via DoorDash. Their food always comes super fresh and in great packaging. The amount of food is certainly enough to fill you up, but I think some of the ingredients make the price a little higher than your typical Asian bowl dish. I view it a little more upscale and not quite my homecooked authentic Asian food that I crave sometimes, but I know what I'm getting from this place when I choose to order from here. I always order the sweet potato noodles with bulgogi and it's always super fresh and tasty! I also get the crispy chicken spring rolls which are great! I look forward to trying out their dumpling happy hour soon.

Chilled . Yummy.

WOW! this place is yummy. Very clean and very prompt service. I came in before my show at the Signature. I ordered the Double Fried Chicken Wings, with spicy soy glaze, garlic shrimp dumplings, and the chilled mushroom salad. All were banging! But the wings? OMFG. The crisp? perfect. the meat was perfectly cooked. Not limp and undercooked and not dry and brittle just buttery soft and delectable. The dumplings had a nice shrimp inside with great flavor. I loved the presentation in the bowl where you could scoop them up into the sauce then into your mouth. The portion and size were very agreeable to me. the mushroom salad was very different to me. I have only had chilled mushroom in antipasto and enjoyed them. these were sliced like little flat rectangles. They were marinated in an interesting tasting sauce. The price was 30.00. Its Shirlington so I guess that's the going rate. I really didn't need all of the food I ordered but I am glad I tried a side and smaller plate instead of one main dish.

The House Pork Belly Fried Rice. Incredibly rich and flavorful and definitely worth sharing.

Chiko has raised the bar for Asian food in Shirlington. If you know Chiko from DC, you'll be celebrating its arrival here. If you don't, then it's time to check out this casual Chinese-Korean fusion concept. If you (or somebody in your group) has found traditional Korean food to be little too inaccessible, spicy, or funky, then definitely give Chiko a try. They do am amazing job of integrating Korean flavors and techniques into otherwise mainstream rice and noodle dishes that can have a kick, but aren't defined by their heat level or pungency. If deep fried is your thing, there's plenty to enjoy here, but my advice is to explore the rich selection of bowls, and to ask to see the vegetarian menu, which inexplicably is not just a part of the regular menu. Vegetables get great respect here, from the super flavorful charred mushrooms that punch up the chattered green bean appetizer (a rich meal in itself), to the surprise appearance of butternut squash in the House Pork Belly Fried Rice. The Outdoor seating is great, as was the incredibly helpful and friendly server on our recent visit. Definitely my new #1 spot in Shirlington.

I'm thinking that many people who come here know already what they want, because even before we cracked open our menus, the server was immediately at our table expecting us to place our order. When we told her we weren't ready yet, she left, but came back less than a minute later and then stood there waiting for us to place our order. So I ordered the Sullangtang, which is bone broth with brisket and noodles. JP ordered the Yukgaejang, a spicy red broth with veggies and flank steak. We also ordered the fried dumplings. I don't know if the fried dumplings were vegetable or pork, but they were very good, made even better with a delicious dipping sauce. As hoped, banchan was served with our meal, but was just cubes of daikon radish (kkakdugi) and kimchi. The kkakdugi and kimchi were fresh and tasty. Even if the Sullantang recipe is traditional, I was disappointed. The broth was thin and very bland. However, I was able to jazz it up and make it into a pretty good soup by adding spoonfuls of the Yukgaejang broth and the fried dumpling sauce, plus salt and pepper. The Yukgaejang, topped with crispy noodles, was the better of the two soups. It had a lively flavor and as billed on the menu, was indeed spicy. The menu is limited, almost exclusively vegetable and beef dishes, but there is a seafood pancake and whelk (mollusk) dish. No chicken or pork dishes. Overall, our experience was decent and we would certainly consider returning. Shin Chon has plenty of off-street parking.

Dessert - Doughnuts: I wish the donuts were just the tad bit sweet, but the jelly on the bottom makes it all worthwhile. The pistachio gelato really brings it all together. Coffee cheesecake: Excellent! Lots of fresh fruits and I enjoyed more it with every bite. The service is always excellent and Anju is one of my favorite restaurants in DC!

I made RSVP for this Korean restaurant on a Sunday evening...and it was bustling!…read more Despite RSVP for the main room, we got seated in an extended part of the room (more like an indoor patio?)...so frankly, the ambiance was a bit off for me. So was the overhead music. Guess I expected a more authentic Korean experience, but the place was more or less an Americanized Korean bistro. Still, the foods seemed authentic! We ordered a few things to share... Mandu, Dolsot Bibimbap, and this Ssam Board. For drinks, my husband got some beer (?), and I got this fruity cocktail (??). First, the positives! The Mandu was really, really good...and quite meaty! The Dolsot Bibimbap was good in that it came with a generous load of fresh veggies. Now the problems. The Bulgogi in the Dolsot Bibimbap was problematic. It was a bit too fatty...and too chunky...and just hard to eat. It was also a bit bland! They should have cut it up a bit...or provided us with proper cutlery, like a fork and a knife! This is a pet peeve of mine...but nowadays, hardly any restaurant gives you the full set of cutlery. Just fork, or just chopsticks!! Then the Ssam Board. While it looked luscious, I personally had a problem with the meat. While I love Galbi, cuts of Galbi was all-out rare. The waiter didn't even ask for our preference, by the way. If I knew it'd be prepared that red, I would have ordered something else. If it was medium-rare, for instance, I might have liked this dish. My husband prefers a much more rare cut of meat than me, yet even he thought this was too red. Also, I expected something more than raddish for sides. Not sure if this "Board" was worth $42. We also tried this Black Sesame Ice Cream dessert. I loved the flavor...but nothing too special. Service was a bit off as well. While friendly at our table, our waiter wasn't too attentive...especially in the beginning. If he stopped by our table earlier, I might have gotten them to bring back the Ssam Board to cook the meat a bit more. Frankly, I was underwhelmed with the foods, the presentation, even the service. Overall, there were just too many things amiss (or just underwhelming??)...so much so that I doubt I'll pick this place again.

Great service (oddly they're all REALLY attractive Asian guys... save for the front desk girl - and I'm a straight, married, asian male), prices are great for the quality of meat and service you get (they cook for you) They come with the little appetizer plates like most Korean restaurants do, and they all have their own little twist to them, not super vanilla but still keeping to their roots and simple flavors. The green onion one was particularly memorable Our side dishes were excellent. Cheesy corn and seafood pancake. Both come out in cast iron pan, so it's piping hot and super fresh. Corn is hella cheesy and paired great with the appetizers. The seafood pancake was DENSE - really packed with seafood and not so much filler We got their combo so it came with kimchi soup and egg soufflé. The soup was very simple, very spicy. The soufflé was a nice contrast - light, fluffy, honestly almost felt like a desert. We definitely done made a mistake because for two of us, by this time the meats were ready to be cooked, we were about 60% full - and there were 4 meats to cook through We got brisket, pork belly, bulgogi, and another beef I don't remember - ended up taking about 1/3 of it home and half the pancake Our server was attentive and busy managing other tables so it's great to see all these guys staying sharp Considering how much food we took home, the bill was quite reasonable. Ordered the spicy chicken bibimbap to go, and was upset to find at home that the marinade on the chicken was buffalo sauce. Buffalo sauce! Buffalo sauce has an unmistakable smell and orange-y look. Confusingly, Ive looked through others reviews that had chicken bowls, no one's seems to be this orange so seems to be a recent thing. For $47, I expect restaurant quality food as opposed to fast casual and this does not meet the bar. Ive been here multiple times but am sadly crossing from the list.
