I've been to Chiko when it first opened in DC and went back after not coming back for awhile. Love how they have a Shirlington location. I took my parents here and we all loved the food. Plenty of flavors, spice, and wok hei (char) taste. Definitely tastes elevated and love the execution of the Asian food Would come back.
The food is amazing. I stopped by during their happy hour and tried all kinds of dumplings, and they turned out good. So, I ordered one more round, and I also ordered 3 entrées, which were really good too. For the service, I think it's kind of like self-service.
Very much enjoyed the beef bibimbap! Came in a traditional stone bowl piping hot and delicious. Loved that they didn't skimp on the toppings. Enjoyed the shrimp dumplings on happy hour too.

Chiko's is a Chinese Korean place but not really fusion just offering both. Not a lot of seating inside but the patio is nice. The people are helpful and the food is good.
This little place is nice and cozy perfect for a casual date night. My husband and I went in for the dumplings and oh my! They are very flavorful and saucy yum yum go try them!!! The shrimp one was my favorite! Very fast service too which is good when you're hungry hehe

The ingredients are fresh and well-cooked, the service is lightning-fast, the prices are reasonable, and the flavors are bold and memorable. If you do come here, definitely try the noodle dishes - they're particularly delicious!
One of the best spots in Shirligton! CHIKO never disappoints, the food is always so tasty and flavorful! The Tots are a MUST! Creative menu and great atmosphere, you can't go wrong with dining here!
My boy friend just brought home dinner from Chiko and I have to immediately follow up with a review. The food was DELICIOUS! I mean some of the best I've ever had, super flavorful. We have the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry, Pork and Kimchi Potsticker and Kimchi on the side. Everything had a power punch of flavor, large servings and the potstickers (5) were large and delicious. National Kimchi Day selection did not disappoint!
These guys are on the pricier side. While portions are decent and the taste is phenomenal, the price is a bit steep for what you're getting, in my opinion. The overall cost of the meal plus tip was more than what I think this kind of restaurant would usually charge, especially with the independent customer nature of the place. (You seat yourself, scan a qr code to order, and check yourself out via the qr code as well. The serve brings your water, utensils, order, and refills water.) Basically, I'm docking a star for their price, otherwise this joint would be 5* in my book. This place also doesn't have much going for them in terms of decor and interior aesthetic, but I liked their DC light. What we got: Pork Belly Fried Rice - 5* this was so yummy! The pork belly was really good and I enjoyed the pumpkin (or maybe it was squash?) in the fried rice. Spicy Bulgogi Stir Fry - 5* I'm not a mushroom fan and this dish didn't convert me to love mushrooms but I was able to eat a couple because the sauce was so great. The bulgogi had great flavour as well. I was a little disappointed with the size, especially compared to the size of the fried rice.
Chiko has raised the bar for Asian food in Shirlington. If you know Chiko from DC, you'll be celebrating its arrival here. If you don't, then it's time to check out this casual Chinese-Korean fusion concept. If you (or somebody in your group) has found traditional Korean food to be little too inaccessible, spicy, or funky, then definitely give Chiko a try. They do am amazing job of integrating Korean flavors and techniques into otherwise mainstream rice and noodle dishes that can have a kick, but aren't defined by their heat level or pungency. If deep fried is your thing, there's plenty to enjoy here, but my advice is to explore the rich selection of bowls, and to ask to see the vegetarian menu, which inexplicably is not just a part of the regular menu. Vegetables get great respect here, from the super flavorful charred mushrooms that punch up the chattered green bean appetizer (a rich meal in itself), to the surprise appearance of butternut squash in the House Pork Belly Fried Rice. The Outdoor seating is great, as was the incredibly helpful and friendly server on our recent visit. Definitely my new #1 spot in Shirlington.

I've been wanting to go to the dc location as I heard it's great. So thankful they finally added it to the shirlington area. I got the cumin lamb noodles and the flavors were out of this world. Great portion for the price. Wish the ambiance of this area was a bit better and of course wish the menu was bigger so there were more options. read more

If you're looking for something new, a fusion restaurant that combines Korean and Chinese flavors in a casual setting in Arlington is an excellent place to go. The chefs have done a great job of creating new dishes by blending two distinct flavors. The place is clean and tidy, making it a great option to enjoy a meal. This place is in the Village at Shirlington, where one can enjoy a good walk after satisfying food. read more

Honestly I was craving Korean Fried and Chikos was close so i decided to try it out! I'm disappointed in the way the food was packaged. Korean Fried Chicken is supposed to be crispy, crunchy, flavorful. Unfortunately this chicken was soggy due to the lack of ventilation. The flavor profile of the chicken was also not there, it tasted like a panda express orange chicken sauce :/ The staff was really nice and friendly. If you're craving Korean fried chicken you're better off driving the few extra minutes to annandale. It could be different when fresh and sitting in the restaurant but due to the take out experience I don't think i'll be wanting to try again. read more
This spot is an absolute gem. We love the Chiko in Capitol Hill as well as the one in DuPont Circle. The other two have slightly different vibes, but the food is always **chef's kiss**. Personally, it feels like Chiko absolutely fills a void that Shirlington has long been missing. We have the staples for sure--Copperwood, Busboys and Poets, Carlyle...and more recently Palette 22 & Stellina. Each are wonderful in their own right. Nonetheless, Chiko's bold and creative flavor combinations, coupled with omg--FAST and consistently delightful customer service...will no doubt soon make it a stand out on Campbell Ave. My only complaint? If you follow my reviews, you know I love non-alcoholic beer options and mock-tails. read more
So happy they opened in sherlington near me. The lamb cumin noodle dish was fantastic. Its gone up in price $19 but totally worth it. It was a lot of food for me, so I brought it home, added more noodles & made 2 more meals. Staff was very kind, attentive and Refilled my water. Also checked to see if I needed anything. I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended! read more

I am so glad that Chiko has been slowly expanding throughout the DMV area (and beyond). I don't know how they do it but the perfect combination of flavors that are savory/sweet/spicy just leaves you wanting more (though I'm sure the buttery taste I sense won't help the caloric intake). The smashed salmon is the dish I tried for the first time and I was surprised by how buttery and perfectly cooked the salmon was followed by a nice citric flavor to cut the taste. The service is excellent, the food is always solid, and I think ChiKO has built a solid reputation for itself with just darn good Asian food with a spunk. read more

This place is down-to-earth. The waitress took my order promptly. She asked me what kind of alcohol I'd like in my Spiked Chiko Lemonade. I opted for tequila - boy is it tasty! I ordered the Lunch Box with a garlic shrimp dumpling and the orange-ish chicken. The chicken and sauce is absolutely delicious. The garlic shrimp dumplings are adorable - and the sauce, again, is tasty. The rice is perfectly sticky, so even mediocre chopsticks users can handle it! It's a bit pricey for lunch, at $19 (cocktail, $11, not included). I will definitely be coming back to try other dishes! read more
So yummy! Awesome service, fresh and flavorful food. Garlic shrimp dumplings: 4/5 get them, sauce is perfect, texture light and super fresh. Only complaint is small portion Shrimp lo mein: 5/5 sooo good, chewy noodles, great sauce that wasn't super spicy but had a lot of flavor, this was my favorite Cumin lamb noodles: 2/5 I did not like this, but my friends did. So maybe it was just me but the sauce was to sweet for me. Cucumber salad : 4/5 amazing ,but tiny! Half a cado salad: 5/5 this was incredible - jicama was crunchy and the toasted almonds were so good in this salad, dressing was addicting . GET this!!! Soy glazed brisket: 3.5/5 this was so interesting to me, the brisket was good, and the egg added the perfect richness. Just didn't care for the pickled jalapeños , I would get them on the side. For dessert we had the sesame custard with sesame brittle and blueberry compote: 100000/5 I wanted to get another order that's how good it was . Get it. read more
I had heard about CHIKO opening a location in Shirlington for some time and I'm happy I got to finally try their food! CHIKO is a great fast causal establishment with Korean-Asian fusion foods. Bulgogi and tator tots? Sign me up now please! Their menu has quite some variety with wings, potstickers, noodle and rice bowls, and other Korean-inspired appetizers. We came here for a causal date night and ordered two of their lychee cocktails which were super tasty. We got the brisket rice cakes as the appetizer, and pork belly fried rice as well as brisket tator tots. We loved all of the dishes and the portions were pretty generous - we were able to have leftovers for the next day. I thought the prices were a little on the higher side ($14-18) for a fast causal place, but given the portion sizes it was worth it. Will definitely come back to try more items off their menu! read more

WOW! this place is yummy. Very clean and very prompt service. I came in before my show at the Signature. I ordered the Double Fried Chicken Wings, with spicy soy glaze, garlic shrimp dumplings, and the chilled mushroom salad. All were banging! But the wings? OMFG. The crisp? perfect. the meat was perfectly cooked. Not limp and undercooked and not dry and brittle just buttery soft and delectable. The dumplings had a nice shrimp inside with great flavor. I loved the presentation in the bowl where you could scoop them up into the sauce then into your mouth. The portion and size were very agreeable to me. the mushroom salad was very different to me. I have only had chilled mushroom in antipasto and enjoyed them. these were sliced like little flat rectangles. They were marinated in an interesting tasting sauce. The price was 30.00. Its Shirlington so I guess that's the going rate. I really didn't need all of the food I ordered but I am glad I tried a side and smaller plate instead of one main dish. read more

My husband and I each got a combo. He got the lamb stir fry with garlic shrimp dumplings and I got the smashed salmon with kimchi potstickers. Each combo was $20. Each dish had a very delicious and unique flavor. I really enjoy the sweet and savory delight of the lamb sit fry. The smashed salmon had plenty of veggies. I dI look forward to try their dumpling happy hour in the future to try the different flavors of dthey have. read more
This is my second time coming here and I loved it more this time. Ambiance: (4/5) It is nice that they have indoor and outdoor seating. The tables are a little tight so just keep that in mind. Price: (4/5) The prices are on par with the area. The dumpling happy hour is really nice. Food: (4/5) All the dumplings I've tried are amazing. They come with sauces or are sitting in chili oil. I like the chili oil a lot. It is not too spicy, so no worries there. The egg drop soup was amazing. The balance or sweet and spicy was perfect. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the dumplings held up in the soup which was surprising. The orange ish chicken was okay. It was a bit dry even with the sauce that it came with. I think the chicken needs to be tossed in a sauce and then have another sauce on the side. Service: (4/5) Things come out fast and the people are nice. It does get a bit hectic when there are a couple parties seated at the same time since there is only one server. I think it is odd that you pay for your food with tip before you even start the meal. I think tip is based on service and should be calculated at the end. In conclusion, I recommend this place especially during dumpling happy hour! read more
Chiko never disappoints! I took advantage of a DC restaurant week menu with UberEats delivery. In this photo, I've captured pork and kimchi dumplings, steamed rice with furikake butter, and a special blueberry/lemon/sesame custard dessert. I saved the smashed salmon entree for the next day, but every bite was complex and flavorful. I am looking forward to trying brunch at Chiko in the near future. read more
This place is lit. It's a nice cute spot for some decent Korean/chinese, def more of a Korean flare. They got soju! That's all that matters:) the dishes are good, they got some good apps w some good entrees, we went for the pork belly and brisket over rice entrees which I liked. They have a kids option which was good for us! HAhaa I love Shirlington, all kinds of great cuisine, this place is def worth checking out:) read more

Came by for lunch. Fairly new restaurant around me (Shirlington). We heard good reviews and decided to give them a try. A smaller place to eat inside. There is some outdoor seating. We ordered the lunch combinations. Half-a-cado salad (amazing), smashed salmon (delicious). Also had the pork and kimchi pot stickers, orange-ish chi ken, and double-fried chicken wings (probably my favorite). We also had an order of crispy chicken spring rolls. They are huge but I did not think they had much flavor. The sauce that comes with spring rolls is delicious. Worked well with the rolls. Overall delicious food. Great service with friendly staff. The restaurant is a little on the smaller side but comfortable. Outside dining is available for people-watching. Solid food and service. We did pRk in a parking garage and walked to the restaurant. I will say it is kind of pricy. read more

I've tried Chiko two times in the past couple of years since living in VA. My first experience was at the Capitol Hill location, my second experience was takeout from the Dupont Circle location, and eating at this Shirlington location was my third experience with Chiko. I really like how they opened a location in Northern Virginia and Shirlington is a great spot for a restaurant like Chiko. Lots of parking, other restaurants around, and pretty convenient in the Arlington area. I came with two other people around 6pm on a Monday night. There were only a couple of other tables with people eating - not too full. When you sit down, you scan a QR code which takes you to a toast tab link to order right to your table. It was pretty convenient and you could close your tab through the app or order more food as you go. Food came out really quickly and service was great. We got a lot of water refills (especially because of that spicy cumin lamb). It's a pretty chill atmosphere more similar to fast casual than a full-service sit down restaurant, but we were able to sit and talk and eat for a couple hours which was nice. Food (in order of preference): - Cumin Lamb Stir Fry - spicy wheat flour noodles. I've had these the past two times and they are my favorite dish here. I love cumin lamb anything and the spice in this dish is excellent with decent chunks of lamb mixed with mushrooms and bok choy with noodles. - Half-acado-salad - citrus soy, breakfast radish, crunchy almond slivers. I had this my first time at Chiko, but didn't really like it. However, it really grew on me since then. It was really fresh and there were different textures of vegetables that made it enjoyable. Definitely a good dish to mix with the more heavy and rich foods. - Soy Glazed Brisket - soy brined soft egg, furikake butter, rice. The brisket here is really tender, but the texture was very unexpected to me. I thought it would be more like pull-apart brisket, but they are in little cubes that are flavorful and soft. - Full Monty (assortment of banchan) - napa cabbage kimchi, sichuan spicy vegetables, turmeric pickled daikon, korean style potato + egg salad, chilled shrimp + apple kimchi salad, steamed rice with furikake butter. The full monty was a little overkill for us with all the other dishes, but I am a big banchan fan so it is fun to try the little side dishes in between. I liked the chilled shrimp and pickled daikon the best. Most of them are not super unique compared to normal banchan at a Korean restaurant, but just good sides. - Chiko Brussel Sprouts - furikake, green onion, gochujang aioli. I didn't eat so much of the brussel sprouts, but they were pretty decent. Not a fan favorite, but a decent vegetable appetizer. Overall, really great experience at the Shirlington location of Chiko. I am glad they opened this spot in Virginia and would like to come again for more soon. read more
Chiko is a nice addition to Shirlington! The service is fast (I've only ever dined in, haven't done takeout) and the portions are a nice size considering the price paid. I like the no contact ordering, just sit down at a table, scan the QR code and order from your phone. This was our second time here and we've had the house fried rice twice, it's my favorite thing on the menu so far! This time I tried the garden noodles which were delicious and the shrimp and chicken dumplings during the happy hour. The dumplings were unexpectedly very spicy but good! And $5 for 5 or 6 nice sized dumplings are a great deal! read more
