Delicious and fresher than normal takeout. Love that they offer noodle dishes with wide noodles that are normally in Thai dishes! Yummy!

Very good food. The orange chicken was crispy and sweet. Not low quality at all and the food was ready very quickly.

There are a lot of hip new Ethiopian places in DC. This Alexandria spot has been around a long…read moretime, and feels like it, for better or for worse. More for better in my opinion. The online ordering system was a bit baffling. There were a million boxes to check when I ordered a veggie combo, but it wasn't clear whether, for example, a drink was included or whether I had any actual choice of vegetables. I left it mostly alone. Their menu is varied. I had three different choices of sambusas, the fried savory pastry, and their mixed vegetable one had potatoes, green beans, and a distinctive sour spice mix. A more conventional spicy lentil creation also fit the bill. Getting a veggie combo to go left me with a bunch of small containers, each with a delightfully distinctive option. You'll get a wonderfully balanced meal this way, with many colors, flavors and textures. I opted to spend extra money to get 100% teff injera (this flatbread is usually made with a mix of Ethiopian grain and regular wheat when you order it at restaurants), which was spongy and a bit too crumbly for my liking. Gluten-free diners, and indeed most people with special dietary needs, will rejoice.

Hawwi is such an absolute gem in our neighborhood. Prices are extremely reasonable, and the portions are huge! They are also extremely family friendly. I really appreciated that they had small actual silverware and mini bottles of water for kids. My favorite dishes are so far their lentil sambusas, the vegan sampler and the tilapia. The baklava is also absolutely out of this world. Please if you are in the neighborhood, visit this place. They will make you feel like family! I even used some of my leftovers for my daughters school lunch the next day, and she ate it all!

Love that they have so many spice levels to choose from. I asked for the medium level and honestly it could be considered spicy to some. So if you're sensitive maybe go one lower than you think. The flavor is more than just spice though. The chicken is really well cooked and battered. The outside was crispy even with sauce all over. Also the fried okra was a sleeper agent, it was so addicting we all kept reaching for it. I'm personally not the biggest fan of waffle fries but these were cooked great. Great place to swing by and grab some fried chicken

Wooboi! New fan of their hot, spicy, juicy fried chicken. Not as crispy-crunchy as my all-time fave…read moreRoaming Rooster, but that's OK: I'm here to test out their spice levels. For context, I regularly enjoy spicy food: always top my pizza with crushed red pepper flakes, eat deli sandwiches with a layer of pickled jalapeños or banana peppers, and generally order medium-to-spicy levels for Thai, Chinese, and other cuisines. But I'm not one of those ghost pepper extremists, so I hesitated to try Wooboi's Code Red or Blue on my first visit and ordered Level 3 (Hot). Let me be clear: Level 3 is spicy, but I was proud of myself and ate the whole thing with no drama. It's got a little delayed effect and will make your tummy feel warm the rest of the day. Overall, a delicious spicy sandwich I'd make another trip to Alexandria for. I will be brave and try Code Red next. Tip: If you're going to go spicy, order cold bottled water (maybe 2) and the banana pudding - the dairy helped in between particularly spicy bites. Wish they served milk or milkshakes!
