    beef pad see ewe
    Annie S.

Came on a Saturday night and it was easy to get a table, we didn't need a reservation (though they do take them). Staff was friendly and service was good. We ordered the beef pad see ewe and beef massaman curry. Both were good. The pad see ewe was typical, not remarkable. The portion was large. The massaman curry was the better dish which came with huge pieces of beef that were very tender. The sauce was quite good. Good sized restaurant with tables that can accommodate large groups. Parking is easy with a parking lot in front and ample parking.

3.5/5. The food was quite good, but not the best, and not enough to come back. The service was basic and they didn't speak much, but were pretty attentive. The restaurant decor was good - I liked how spacious it was inside. The pad see ew was a bit too salty, but good. The cashew chicken was bland and dry. The eggplant stir fry was good. The pad thai was veryyy saucy and too sweet for me. The best dish was the crispy duck basil. It was so light, crisp, and spicy. Yum! The Thai iced coffee was also amazing and sweet. I don't recommend this place, but it was good for a quick pit stop to satiate our hunger. Especially since the food came out fast (although it was quite empty when we went on a Saturday for a late lunch).

I was led to believe this place would be good and I love Thai food; however, I was very disappointed. The flavors were completely lacking and nothing was reminiscent of Thai food. We started off with fresh summer rolls (one of my wife's favorites) and basically got a rolled up salad. Yes, I know what summer rolls are but these had zero flavor. The dipping sauce was basically peanut butter in a bowl, and had no flavor. Even the angle they were cut made them difficult to eat. Laughingly, the menu showed beef massaman curry as a "must try", but I would have to pass if I ever went back (I won't). My wife ordered the crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli and, like my dish, did not care for it. Probably the one positive was my lemonade wasn't too bad. Service could improve as well. My wife and I were one of the few customers yet the never checked on us, so even getting the bill was hard to do. I will say the setting is fairly nice, and there's a free parking lot to use.

Best crispy duck basil I've ever had. Great balance of sweet and spicy and the crunchiest, lightest batter. The spring rolls were piping hot and the dipping sauce was a little different than what I've had before but it was delish. The pad see ew had the perfect amount of spice, asking for less spicy so it would help balance the duck. Pretty open seating for a Sunday lunch and quick and friendly service

We visited the restaurant a while back and enjoyed their delicious Thai food with generous portions, great decor, and excellent service. It's definitely a top choice for Thai cuisine in the area.

Great food and service. This place never disappoints. The ingredients are always super fresh and the food delicious. Today I ordered wanton soup and spring rolls to start. Both were delicious .For my entree I went with pad mixed vegetable with shrimp. It was tasty and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend Crystal Thai.

How about now? Do you have the softshells now? Huh? Do ya?

Now yet. I will let you know when it available.thank you .

Soft shell crabs are back at the local fish market (as of 3/30/19). Are they back on Crystal Thai's menu yet? Last season we had some excellent Thai-style softshells there.

Not yet . I will let you know when it back. Thanks for checking.

Was seated by a delightful young lady, and found the decor and layout to be quite pleasing; modest by elegant. As for the fare, it was indeed quite worth the walk. Ordered a bowl of Tom Yum and the Pad Thai Mun Goong. The Tom Yum was solid and quite flavorful, a flux of tangy lemongrass with the oniony sweetness of steeped scallions, and enoki mushrooms to provide some heartiness. The Pad Thai Mun Goong was a chef specialty pad Thai made with stir fried rice noodle, prawns shrimp tomalley oil (a crucial element for this version), egg and bean sprouts, naturally topped with green onions, peanuts and a lime for squeezing, and this also was quite phenomenal. Savory, sweet, a little tingle of sourness from the citrus in the mid-palate, and the juicy, briny shrimp balancing the dense carbs and rich flavorful sauce. All-in-all, I was well pleased this visit. As this is Padaek's second location, I hope they don't expand too much further/quickly and compromise on quality.

I wasn't too hungry when coming in for a late lunch so I didn't get big plates. But I can 100% vouch for everything I ate. The Tom Kha was some of the best I have ever had! A slightly mild soup with chicken and coconut flavors (yummmm). I also ordered the mussels (I did not expect them to come in a broth since the menu says they are steamed) but they were surprisingly spicy and delicious. It came with some housemade chili sauce that was even spicier! There were like 7 mussels. Even though it was so spicy, the flavors were delicious so I bared through the spicy sauce. I ordered jasmine tea and it came as a packet of the jasmine tea with hot water. I would've loved it to be brewed loose leaf but that's ok. Overall, this place was delicious, and it was so cute! The decor inside doesn't give "Thai" but it's absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. There is a lot of seating as well and a whole parking lot.

I wouldn't say the inside gives off a Thai restaurant, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. For starters, we ordered the duck wrap and the papaya salad. The duck wrap was interesting, but not sure if it was in the good way. The wrap tasted buttery, which was a little different than what I have had before, and the duck didn't really taste like duck and there wasn't much of it. The papaya salad was fine, but not the best I have had. It was a little bit spicy. For the main dish, I ordered the hang-over noodle (Khee Mao), which was I think their version of drunken noodles. I thought it was good, but it was definitely too spicy for my liking but that is my bad for not asking for a lower spice level. The noodles had a nice texture. I wouldn't say this is the best Thai place in NOVA, but I thought it was alright.

The country curry was by far my favorite thing and tasted very, very good. Nice and savory, well spiced, and had a ton of aromatics to brighten up the entire dish. There was also a lot of vegetable vegetables, mixed in to brighten up the entire dish. The curry reminded me of a good khao soi with a little more sweetness. Regardless, it was super super enjoyable. I also loved the pad as well; the sauce was thick and coated all the vegetables nicely with this light savory flavor; if I had to describe what it taste similar to most, it taste similar to those crispy noodles you get at Chinese restaurant coded with a little bit of thick gravy. This one was better though and again I love the vegetables that were served with it. The presentation was beautiful when it came out and the service we had was very good. We came here after a long day of work and were surprised at both the decorations, atmosphere, and service. We will definitely be back.
