Never disappointed. The food here is consistently delicious. The service is always great, with friendly, welcoming staff. And the atmosphere is pleasant. This last time I was in the mood for basil fried rice--Thai heat. They cooked it perfectly. The spice was just right and the flavors were spot on.

Incredible food!! So flavorful and large portioned. Warm and calm ambiance inside. A lot of outdoor seating as well. Fast and kind service. Such a great Thai spot in Clarendon!

Second time dining in this restaurant, I'm told it's been around "forever" - the food is excellent! Amazing spices! And craft cocktails too! I'll be back!

Oh my goodness! I couldn't even finish my meal because it was so good. I had to immediately come in and write a review!!! Per usual I ordered a drunken noodle and my goodness being allowed to choose. The level of spice doesn't even compare to being able to taste the flavor that has been marinated all within the meal.. I mean literally I'm not exaggerating. This isn't a sponsorship. This is truly facts. The host was pleasant and kind when I walked in . It's the cutest little place that I've ever seen. I will most definitely be back.

I have been coming here since 2014 and my husband has been coming for at least 15 years or more and this is a favorite Thai spot among our friends in the area. We have gone there, and taken people there, uncountable number of times and we absolutely LOVE the food and their service. Very authentic Thai food. I highly recommend them!

Thai Custard with Sweet Sticky Rice

A very mediocre experience, both food and service wise. I love angel eggplant and was really underwhelmed here; there were only two pieces of eggplant and they were not quite crispy or salted enough. The pad see ew also just did not have the right flavor profile or texture. The service was not great--it seemed like we were inconveniencing the staff when we asked for a table, even though it was around 6pm on a weekday. One redeeming thing: the custard dessert. So tasty!

Although my partner and I ordered for takeout, the ambiance of the restaurant is so cute!! We'll definitely be back to dine in. There also seemed to be plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. A cute location in general. I am a curry gal (often because they are one of the only GF menu items) - and their curry was delicious (they also clarified it was gluten free)!! I also loved the amount of chicken they gave. My partner got the duck and pad thai, and enjoyed both. Nothing else to really say besides we enjoyed the food and will be back!

I can judge a Thai restaurant by how good a simple tom kha soup and pad Thai is. Sawatdee is not it. The food came out almost too hot to even eat for 10 minutes, the pad Thai was too slimy and had me feeling uneasy and queasy right after. I would not come back here.

Came with a friend for dinner recently and had a very lovely time. There is a lot of seating, so we didn't feel rushed or crowded. They have a pretty extensive menu, so I had a hard time picking what I wanted. I ended up getting the drunken noodles (with chicken) and it was so good! Had a kick to it for sure, but it wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, which I appreciated. The noodles were chewy, the veggies weren't limp, and the sauce was, of course, so amazing. Service was quick and efficient. They also do delivery I think, as I saw some orders being picked up while we ate. If I lived closer, I think it would be a regular stop for me!

The Best Drunken Noodle you will ever have (my opinion, argue with your momma).

Probably one of the best drunken noodle I've tasted a long time and the presentation is cute. Great portion size and the place is huge enough to accommodate large parties. Not a fan of the Thai Tea. Extremely sugary compared to other places I've tried but if you like that rush go for it. Service was consistent.

Pineapple fried rice with tofu

A little bit on the higher price side but still pretty good Thai if you are in a crunch. Love the Pineapple Fried Rice here ( I choose to add tofu and it complements it perfectly).

Pad Thai Noodle with Beef

My friend and I were able to grab a quick dinner here since it was right next to her apartment. Fortunately, the service was pretty fast so we were able to wrap up within an hour. SA-TAY (4) - 9.50 This was pretty pricy but at least the chicken was saucy, flavorful, and juicy (which is a huge win for white chicken meat). The meat fell off the skewer pretty easily as it was tender. The peanut sauce was pretty oily but lacked any strong, nutty, peanut flavor. I don't think it enhanced the chicken in any way, so I stopped dipping in my chicken after a few bites. PAD THAI NOODLES (BEEF) - 15 The one big win? A good amount of beef in the Pad Thai - it was indeed not lacking. Pretty tender and flavorful, too. Besides that, the Pad Thai wasn't very memorable as it was a bit bland (unless you squeeze a lot of lime on it, but then it's just citrusy). If you have an unfathomable Pad Thai craving and Sawatdee was the closest Thai place to you, the Pad Thai here will definitely satisfy it. MANGO WITH SWEET STICKY RICE - 9.75 Mangos were ripe, juicy, and sweet! It went well with the sticky rice, which had a lot of fragrant coconut milk drizzled on top with some sprinkles of sesame seeds. Sadly, the portion size of this was pretty small. I would recommend it to give it a try, but definitely not worth it. Sawatdee is in the Courthouse Plaza, which is a super convenient location and is metro accessible. But that's really it - food was just OK. I'd want to try other Thai restaurants in the area before swinging back.

Thai Tea (Thai Ice Tea Togo Drink)
Nina L.

TLDR - hearty beef noodle soup, not- too- sweet Thai iced tea, beautiful decor This place was located right under my friend's apartment so we had to check out this place for lunch. The first thing I noticed was that the walls were so beautifully decorated with Thai artifacts, vibrant artwork. A lot of light came in through the window too so it made our booth feel even more cozy to sit at. I went all out for this lunch by getting a beef noodle soup and a Thai tea. I was expecting the tea to be extremely sweet from prior experiences but I enjoyed its sweetness. It also comes in aesthetic glassware. The boat noodle soup had one of the heartiest soups that I have ever tasted. Something about the deep beef flavor and other spices made the soup really delicious. The beef was also extra tender. I had enough leftover soup for dinner too! I highly recommend getting their tofu tots too!

This place was awesome. The only downside is you can't see the delivery progress but I felt like a kid again where you had no idea when the food would show up and you'd just sit there watching the window (it took an hour at peak Friday night). The pad Thai was delicious, not super sweet like some places make it. The crispy squid basil was also excellent, and they cut a couple small holes in the container so it was still crispy when it got to us. The prices were very reasonable as well. I'll be honest, I also felt at first that our server wasn't friendly. The food completely made up for her lack of customer service. We ordered the catfish as well as the boat noodle soup. Both had the most amazing flavor and did not take long to come out. I also noticed that once we engaged our waitress in more questions and conversation, that she is just a more reserved person and not unfriendly. The decor inside wasn't anything outstanding but I truly didn't care with how amazing the food was. This was the best boat noodle soup in northern va that I have tried.

Was seated by a delightful young lady, and found the decor and layout to be quite pleasing; modest by elegant. As for the fare, it was indeed quite worth the walk. Ordered a bowl of Tom Yum and the Pad Thai Mun Goong. The Tom Yum was solid and quite flavorful, a flux of tangy lemongrass with the oniony sweetness of steeped scallions, and enoki mushrooms to provide some heartiness. The Pad Thai Mun Goong was a chef specialty pad Thai made with stir fried rice noodle, prawns shrimp tomalley oil (a crucial element for this version), egg and bean sprouts, naturally topped with green onions, peanuts and a lime for squeezing, and this also was quite phenomenal. Savory, sweet, a little tingle of sourness from the citrus in the mid-palate, and the juicy, briny shrimp balancing the dense carbs and rich flavorful sauce. All-in-all, I was well pleased this visit. As this is Padaek's second location, I hope they don't expand too much further/quickly and compromise on quality.

They had a band and singers and folks were up dancing. We found out this is an annual thing and not something regular. We didn't realized they closed at 9pm so felt a little rushed. My friend and I shared the Pad See Ew with beef and the Pla Makham. Both dishes were so good and packed with flavor. We saw some good looking dishes being delivered to other tables and can't wait to return to try them.

I wouldn't say the inside gives off a Thai restaurant, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. For starters, we ordered the duck wrap and the papaya salad. The duck wrap was interesting, but not sure if it was in the good way. The wrap tasted buttery, which was a little different than what I have had before, and the duck didn't really taste like duck and there wasn't much of it. The papaya salad was fine, but not the best I have had. It was a little bit spicy. For the main dish, I ordered the hang-over noodle (Khee Mao), which was I think their version of drunken noodles. I thought it was good, but it was definitely too spicy for my liking but that is my bad for not asking for a lower spice level. The noodles had a nice texture. I wouldn't say this is the best Thai place in NOVA, but I thought it was alright.
