They have Happy Hour from 4-6:30, including appetizers, desserts, and an impressive cocktail list, all for under $10. I was greeted and seated as soon as I walked in. I ordered the Poolside cocktail and crispy spicy duck. I couldn't believe how fast they both came out. The drink had a summer vibe to it, with its mix of rums and fruit juices. OK, so I finally dined in. Twice. Up until recently, I had only ordered a soup to go, and enjoyed Thai iced teas. Experiences below: Lunch: I ordered the pad Thai woon sen with shrimp. I ordered two spring rolls, and a Thai iced tea. The Thai tea was good as always. The spring rolls, which were only $.99 each as a part of the lunch special menu, were good. The pad Thai woon sen was fine... only like 4-5 shrimp. Not as flavorful as I was hoping for. The service was good. However, after we placed our drink orders and received our drinks, the service was soooooo slowww. I think she forgot us. I also asked for the sauce tray and that took a bit. Food at lunch 3/5. Dinner: much better experience. Our server was on it. Garlic lover: sooo good. One of the better I've had in this area.4.5/5 Duck rolls: more duck than expected, which is good. I think I prefer the spring rolls, though. 3/5 Cocktails: I got two different ones I can't remember but they were both good. Dinner ambiance is nicer, too. Portions are pretty good. Bangkok 54 is a the Roger Federer of the Thai food world, truly the GOAT! My husband and I used to live across the street during our DINK days and would order from here at least once ... but mostly multiple times a week. In fact we ordered here so much that we became friends with the delivery person. We were in the area and decided to stop in for old times sake and were met with the same comforting, delicious food that fueled us through our early twenties. We went with our go-to order, crispy squid with basil, yellow curry and pad see ew and both agreed nothing can touch this spot. In the year of our lord, 2025, they have added a new addition to the menu...sushi! We tried a hamachi ceviche and loved the freshness of the fish. The ambiance and service are amazing. I'm gluten free as a celiac. I have been to Bangkok 54 a few times in the past without incident. However, even after making my situation clear and asking about my dish, I was served food that had gluten in it. TO BE CLEAR, I ate it, believing it was GF, it was delicious! I miss gluten but not enough to eat it ever. A restaurant not being mindful with spoken allergies is really dangerous. I may go back but since I can't trust that it for sure will be gluten free, I'll have to only eat things I'm certain are gluten free. I was sick for days after and had mouth sores within the hour. The parking is difficult but it's Arlington so ‍ and the associated Asian supermarket next door is pretty cool. read more

I'll caveat this post by saying I normally eat on the market/noodle bar side and not the actual restaurant. I loveee it. There's something homey and comforting about the food they have. This dish is the bean stir fry with jumbo shrimp in chilli paste sauce. It savory and spicy with a funk but nice crunch to the bean like Edamame with a funky additive nutty taste. Fantastic crab fried rice. Generous portions of food. More than enough to share. The staff were really friendly and very attentive to the needs of our group. They promptly refilled all of our drinks, cleared our dishes as soon as they were done, and they were mindful not to interrupt our meeting while still being proactive in attentive at checking on us. Price: (4/5) prices seem average for the area. $17 for the lunch special that comes with a small portion of sticky rice, a fresh roll (like a summer roll but with tofu and avocado), and your entree. Food: (4/5) I enjoyed my food. I liked the fresh roll because it was different than a normal summer roll that comes with shrimp. It had all the same crunch just with tofu and avocado. It came with the typical peanut sauce. The mango sticky rice was great. The rice was pretty sweet with the coconut milk but I really enjoyed it. The mangos were also perfect! My main entree was the Pad Thai (can't remember exactly what it's called, but it is a different version of pad Thai). It was pretty good. I wish it had more spices. I felt like the fish sauce was a bit overpowering and the shrimp didn't have much flavor at all. Being from Southern California, it's hard to imagine a better place to experience Asian cuisine. So it was to our great pleasure to discover Bangkok 54. We totally loved the vibe and ambience of this eatery. Super clean and very nicely decorated. We ordered all of our favorites from the friendly waitress. The food came out promptly and was nice and hot. Our favorite was the Drunken Noodle with beef. The meat was flavorful and soft and the noodles were amazing! But everything we ordered was delicious. I return to my previous review at 1 star because since reporting it, friends and interested patrons have said they had had similar issues. Just updating the public since our health and wealth (not a cheap place) are both involved. This spot is my heart! From arriving in the parking lot and realizing I can grab any ingredients they use from there market that's next door. As I enter I'm greeted by every single staff member making the experience feel enticing and meaningful. The look this Thai spot went with it inviting and somewhat traditional. They have a bar that has a huge variety of libations. As I'm seated, I'm rushing through my memory and also the menu since I've been here a few times.. my go to is the duck rolls. We ordered the duck roll appetizer to start - good portions of savory duck meat wrapped in roti with cucumber and a wonderful mustard-tamarind sauce. I could've eaten four more as a meal and been completely happy. For dinner, we shared the ginger flank steak and spicy eggplant. The steak was nicely marinated and comes with asparagus and mushrooms..though the eggplant dish was the star! Will be trying to learn how to make this dish at home. Absolutely delicious. I ordered the catfish curry and was told it was medium spicy but it was QUITE hot, so much so that my stomach was burning for a while later. It was so delicious but I had to slow down my consumption. I got a carry out order of 5 Green curry (vegetable only) and 2 salmon Panang curry. They were all delicious. It's a pretty busy restaurant - testament to good food and good customer service. People don't frequent a place where they don't enjoy the food or they don't feel welcome. I didn't get completely inside as there is a counter at the back to order and pick up carryout orders. The lady who served me exhibited the kind of good friendly customer service you find in Thailand - which is rare in Thai restaurants in the U.S. I noticed the restaurant when I was driving by becauae it is off a major road. Looks fancy inside. Even though I live in Herndon, I plan to be driving the 17 miles to get my orders from Bangkok 54 because of the good customer service and delicious food. It was very loud and packed with patrons which was a sign to me that the food must be good and I was right! The food was really good. The menu was large with a good variety especially for vegetarians. I ultimately opted for the Panang Jae which came with rice and my protein was tofu. The tofu was soft and chewy while the curry was flavorful and just the right level of spicy. The portion sizes were good to eat the leftovers for another meal and the pricing was in line with many thai restaurants in the area but not too overpriced. I've only gotten take out from here but decided to try in person dining. Service was quick and food came out fast. I tried the duck rolls and sushi. Highly recommend the duck rolls!! So delicious. It reminds me of Peking duck but instead of a pancake, the duck is wrapped in a bread similar to roti. I would definitely get this again.
