Staff was super thoughtful in checking in. The food we ate our Small Sashimi Set, You Shook Me All Night Long (Sushi Roll), Chicken Katsu, Light My Fire (Sushi Roll), and Tempura Udon. It was super packed during happy hour!
Best sushi in Arlington, maybe Nova, i wouldn't know cause I don't go anywhere else. I've been eating here consistently for years, to the point that twice in my Uber Eats wrapped I've gotten a notification that I was in their top 10% of customers. It's just always really good food. Very consistently. And somehow their delivery drivers never have any issues finding my apt and dropping the food off no contact. I always take people here when visiting out of town and get rave reviews. Huge fan.
Recently went to the restaurant as a late night dinner with my family and overall the restaurant is subpar. The staff itself are extremely friendly and accommodating and the interior is gorgeous. Regarding the food itself, it won't be the worse food you will taste, but certainly not the best either. The apps (not pictured), crispy rice and potstickers, were great and I could definitely say the appetizers alone is what makes the restaurant worth returning to but the mains dishes, not so much. The chicken katsu is boring with the side sauce essentially being ketchup, the chicken tasting fine, and the miso soup tasting bland. Given the smaller miso soup was bad, we should have expected the miso ramen to taste the same but we were optimistic. But our optimism was proven to be incorrect as the ramen was also bland and lackluster. The price point itself is maybe its saving grace but I'd say if you are not going for either happy hour or just to get appetizers, I'd continue up the hill and find better spots.
This review is solely based on my to-go order. I wanted to great myself to a quick sushi dinner so I landed on this place to try something new. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll, the crunchy shrimp tempura roll & the soft crab roll. Overall, the food was decent considering the price (significantly cheaper than nearby sushi joints) but the food definitely could have been more fresh. I love sushi rock! their happy hour is amazing, from the $7 cocktails, $6 rolls, $9 tacos (2) and sliders (2) plus it is everyday! you can't go wrong here. I haven't tried much else on the menu besides a few different rolls not on HH. Food and drinks are always good but service could be a little better. Staff is very nice but can take awhile sometimes if at the bar and not too busy. Some Rock n Roll decor inside, with a cool upstairs and a patio in the warmer months
The sushi and drinks were really good. I really liked the look of the inside of the restaurant, high ceilings and big windows.
Sushi was just okay in my opinion. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the "light my fire." I really enjoyed the light my fire, bit of kick. We also ordered a ahi tower which wasn't the best. It was a little difficult to eat in the way it was displayed. I felt the rolls were kind of expensive at $16 a piece. Overall, not bad but not necessity somewhere I would come back to.
Really good happy hour deals! $4 draft beer and $6 sushi - and the classic sushi is not skimpy sushi. Really enjoyable and will def come back! No issue sitting at the bar around 5:30pm Saturday
I had a great experience at Sushi Rock! The food was really good, and the service was even better. Tom was amazing and worked really hard to make sure everything was taken care of. He was friendly, helpful, and made the experience even better. You can tell he really cares about his work and the customers. Definitely recommend Sushi Rock, and especially Tom for his great service!
I recently dined at Sushi Rock after hearing great recommendations, and it did not disappoint. The lively atmosphere and attentive service created the perfect setting for a fantastic evening. Drinks: We ordered the White Rabbit and Mary Jane's Last Dance, both refreshing and delightful. Grub: Wonton Chip Nachos, Crisp Rice & Spicy Tuna, Steamed Buns. To finish, the Tempura Ice Cream was the perfect sweet ending. Overall, Sushi Rock impressed me with its tasty food and vibrant vibe. Definitely worth a visit.
Sushi Rock is a great late-night food spot in Arlington--especially if you grab a seat at the bar, where they offer discounted dishes from 9 PM to close. Despite the deals, the portions are generous and the quality is still on point. I recommend the kalbi tacos and rolls like the shrimp tempura and tempura sweet miso. Perfect for satisfying sushi cravings without the usual price tag. Great vibe for a casual night out!
I love this place so much! Happy hour is great and pretty decent offerings on the happy hour menu. The service has always been exceptionally pleasant and I have nothing inherently negative to share about this spot. In fact, it's one of my go-to spots for sushi and a happy hour. There is one thing I'd recommend them removing from the menu - the wonton nachos. They are simply not good. I've tried them twice - to confirm if I didn't like them or if the first time I had them wasn't an off day. I've concluded that they're simply not good. I'd encourage the team to re-work them a bit or remove them. They're dry & there's nothing exciting about them - even with the up charge of adding a meat to them (I added chicken). Everything else is amazing!! I really enjoy coming here.

On today's episode of exploring new lunch spots in Arlington, I came across Sushi Rock, and I'm so glad I did! Unfortunately, I had meetings scheduled throughout the day, so I had to order delivery instead of dining in. Even so, the food was impressive from start to finish. We ordered the miso soup, Light My Fire roll, Spicy Tuna & Avocado roll, and Soft Shell Crab roll. Everything arrived fresh, well-packaged, and ready to enjoy. The standout of the meal was definitely the Light My Fire roll. It had the perfect balance of flavor, texture, and just the right amount of kick. It may have officially earned a spot on my list of favorite sushi rolls. The Spicy Tuna & Avocado and Soft Shell Crab rolls were equally delicious and left us wanting more. My coworker and I both agreed that Sushi Rock might be our new favorite sushi spot in the area. if you're looking for fresh, flavorful sushi in Arlington, Sushi Rock is definitely worth checking out. The next time I'm craving sushi for lunch, I already know exactly where I'll be ordering from or dining at. read more

Had a coupon for a free nigiri platter, so I figured I'd stop in on a quiet Sunday evening. The service was friendly enough; Lawrence was a very gracious host. The ambiance was sleek, although minimalistic and a bit boring. Would love to see some more decor or motifs, especially related to both Japanese culture or rock music, or Japanese rock music culture, per the business name and theming. The food itself was decent; nothing wildly spectacular in quality, but far from the worst I've had. The edamame was solid (pretty hard to screw up poached soybeans, haha), although the miso soup, while savory and potable, didn't taste super fresh. Dare I say, possibly pre-packaged. As for the sushi, the Free Fallin' Maki Roll was inventive yet not over-the-top experimental, with both salmon and yellow tail along with avocado and green onion; decent, yet I felt the fish could certainly be more flavorful. The anniversary nigiri platter was again decent. A few standouts: The unagi (Eel) was honestly very flavorful and umami, and both the gunkan (the two wrapped in nori in the photos) were honestly intriguing; the uni (urchin) gunkan was slightly sweet and pleasantly-briny, not bitter or excessively astringent like I've had from urchin previously, while the ikura (salmon roe) were like salty little jelly balls that explode in the mouth like a savory "Fruit Gusher"; sounds a bit gross but I found it enjoyable. I do wish that the rest of the nigiri tasted fresher or was more flavorful, but again, it was decent enough. All-in-all, I'd say this is a 3.25 star experience as of now. I think some improvements can be made still to the product quality and ambiance, but the potential is here. read more

Had a great after work experience with an old friend! We sat outside on the patio with a cold Sapporo for me and an Asahi for my buddy from waaaay back! The server was awesome and she was very knowledgeable of the menu as well as the pairings of sake' that I considered but went with the Sapporo since it was a warm day. I really like warm sake' but not on the patio on a warm early evening. I got a healthy assortment of of Nigiri Sushi and everything was nicely prepared and presented! It was my first visit but a go to spot for my buddy who suggested this place. Yes! A good spot that got very busy as we were leaving! read more

This place is overhyped. They sat us at high tops without sharing that other people would also be seated at the table, which was awkward as you can imagine. Food didn't make up for it either. Crab roll was disgusting and we had to send it back. Avocado + Salmon roll was really mid. The Shrimp tempura was the only thing I slightly enjoyed. Service was slow and inattentive. I will say the happy hour prices are a good deal, but honestly not worth it. At several points staff would walk past us with food that smelled so raw it felt like we are at a fish market. Would not recommend this place and do not plan on coming back. read more

I wish I would have taken pictures but I was busy enjoying the food and the interactive staff. First I will say I from Las Vegas and I travel a bit so I am well exposed to good food. I visit the DMV area several times a year and always look to try new places. The staff at Sushi Rock were all great. Great conversation and quick to bring food and drinks. I didn't sit right in front of the sushi chefs but others seemed to be interacting well with them too. The bartender was great conversation made great drinks. The quality of the drinks and everything I ate were amazing. Both the bartender and the manager gave food and drink recommendations that did not disappoint. The scenery inside was modern and comfortable. I also enjoyed the great music playlist they had going. Sorry I only took a picture of the qual shooters (I ordered multiple rounds) Overall, great food, great presentation (food and drinks), great service and good prices. read more

I go to sushi rock TOO much!! One of my favs go-to spots in Arlington. They have a great happy hour, but only at the bar area which is limited seating. Their sushi is some of the best, but has other food options for my boyfriend. Great cocktails! Quick service. They have a huge outdoor seating area in the summer. Regular pricing can be a bit pricey. read more
Spontaneously hopped in for happy hour (which is only at the bar, by the way) with a couple friends. Had a sushi craving, but know that I did not go in with the expectation of having authentic or fresh sushi. That being said, I scarfed down the eel & avocado roll and tempura roll with sweet miso and my friends enjoyed their crispy rice spicy tuna dynamite rolls. Service left something to be desired, as the bartenders were not proactive and didn't crack a smile. We never got served waters either, which I'd imagine is standard at a food establishment. read more
Nice ceviche (with thin crispy wonton skins) on a hot summer day. Lovely sashimi over rice (it's chirashi). Enjoyed their simple pork ramen (thin noodle) if a bit expensive for what it is. Sushi Rock remains fashionable (beautiful patio outside, see my photo); tall ceiling and modern and arty inside. I ordered on UberEats for self pick up but had to wait for a long time even after arrival (and after the app says "your food should be ready"). That's the estimate Sushi Rock itself gave. Not busy at all (not meal time) here. So what took so long? They were not proactive either even after I arrived. I was there and no one bothered checking on my order or coming to give me any update. I had to go up there to tell them I have been waiting for a long time which is when they finally finished packing up my order. read more

Dropped in here for a late lunch with my sister and we had an overall positive experience. The feel you get being inside is kind of a modern take on what you would expect from your typical sushi restaurant look like. They had delicious cocktails and the sushi rolls and sashimi we ordered were all fantastic. Towards the end of our meal the restaurant really started to get packed in the early hours of dinner service, so that's always a good sign. Especially for the size of the dinning room. My only real complaint is how floppy the menu was. It's pretty large and impossible to hold with one hand. A minor inconvenience, but still not very ideal. read more

Food: Sushi was so fresh, we did AYCE for New Years and everything was made to order and was so fresh, not to mention a nice variety for the menu choices. Ambiance & service : always a nice clean environment, friendly waitstaff and support staff (cleaning crew). Bathrooms were nice and clean and stocked well with extra toilet paper and napkins. read more

Sushi Rock is a great sushi spot but don't sleep on their other menu items. I've gotten the tempura udon a few times and it's both delicious and filling. We also recently got the steamed potstickers, which have a nice filling to wrapper ratio. A friend for the teriyaki beef and he said it was good but the amount of peppers was overwhelming. When we were there last, service was a bit slow even though it was later and not packed. The restaurant inside is cute and has two levels of seating, which I only noticed on our last visit. read more
I'd definitely come back again! Visited on a Saturday night around 7pm. Even though they were busy, we were seated immediately. The server was nice and attentive. I ordered the teriyaki steak and I'd recommend that to anyone who is visiting! I did feel like the speciality rolls did not offer a lot of variety, but I understand this is different than a chain restaurant, etc. Either way, I enjoyed Sushi Rock. read more
We had a good dinner Saturday after ordering takeout a number of times. Service was efficient, and our waitress checked with the chef on what dishes could be made gluten-free. Sushi Rock has Tamari for those requiring GF. The quality of the sushi, teriyaki and tempura was good and the price points reasonable. read more

We visited Sushi Rock for their Sushi and drinks Happy Hour, where they offer $6 Sushi Rolls (pretty good deal). We were welcomed by the host who sat us outside, however they did not indicate happy hour was only offered at the bar. We thought this was no issue and the next server directed us to the happy hour seating area. To our surprise, we had to stand for about 10-15 minutes while being ignored by restaurant servers and staff because none of the tables we were directed to had been cleaned and still contained food items from prior customers. When the staff comes to clean the table, they only clean the half of the table where we'd not be sitting, so we had to move ourselves to the clean area. 10 minutes go by, we put our order in and are waiting for our food and we notice a couple gets sat right next to us where the table has not been properly cleaned and the staff did not seem to care. This was an unpleasant experience besides the good food options. In terms of food, we ordered the ceviche and one of each of the six sushi rolls in the happy hour menu and found these to be good for their price, and very good portions for 2 people. The ceviche was very tasty and we loved the wonton chips. Our favorite rolls were the crispy rice with tuna dynamite on top (squared shape) and the tempura roll with sweet miso. Overall a bittersweet experience, however nothing negative to say about the food options given the price and value. read more
Best happy hour in Arlington for the price, hours (with both early and late night hours), drink and food quality. The times I've visited with different family in town during the weekday early dinner (5pm ish), the service has been responsive, the food has been hot, prompt and delicious and the sake strong. The ambiance is typical for seats at the bar. read more
My first real happy hour in Arlington. Get off of work and unwine!!! Their Mary Jane's are everything! Kudos to the bartender for not watering down happy hour drinks! Sushi was fresh and delicious! This almost took me on vacation mindset! Everything was great minus the lady cleaning all of the tables with the same rag no spray! Fun and loud vibes, Sushi Rock is a perfect place for a group visit but maybe not best for a first date. SPACE: A group of 3 of us visited on a Tuesday night and it was busy. There are two floors with much of the seating on the first. We ended up sitting on the second floor and lighting was dark. Music was very loud which made it hard to hear each other. SERVICE: I wasn't sure if our waiter liked walking up to the second floor to us but he was a little cold to in the middle and warmed up at the end. FOOD: I ordered the chirashi and everything was fresh! The tamago wasn't sweet at all so I was disappointed in that. Otherwise the fish was good! My fellow diners ordered the rolls and enjoyed them! We shared a chicken karaage as an app and it was very disappointing - the chicken was dry white meat. read more

Sadly not! I called and asked the other day and they said happy hour is only inside.

Yes, for both! 3-7 everyday and then again at 10pm just for food. Only at the bar though.
Does Sushi Rock have an all-you-can-eat option? If so, what is the price?
I never saw that option, would be awesome though
